[ part 1: hotbooting the insecure kernel ]

reboot into fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader)
check if device is detected (fastboot devices)
if its detected then hotboot this kernel u downloaded (fastboot boot filename.img)
the device will start booting
now go to part 2
[ part 2: executing the rooting toolkit ]
download the v02 toolkit for JetStream files and extract contents in root directory of ur pc (e.g: c:\ OR d:\)
activate USB debugging
connect device (with my insecure kernel on it) to pc
execute RUNME.bat
thats it
ur device should now be permanently rooted after reboot...
now i am wondering what part of the Bounty will i get

first, this stinks. I'm in Texas away from my pc. Can't root just yet because of that. But that gives you time to make a recovery...
Second, this needs to make the front page of xda, XDA tv, etc.
fourthly, as a semi-newbie that just follows directions on most forum threads to get his androids to be amazing, I would like to request someone begin a thread of some top tips on how to make the jetstream awesome now that root access is had and there aren't many rooms or mods developed. example: deleting bloatware, enhancing SD card read times, etc (anything i might not know of)
Thirdly, pay day is tomorrow I think. I wil be giving my 100$ prize as promised to doomlord, correct?

It works, thanks a lot. SET-CPU is sctive now on my sony tablet s.
Can I ask what MPT is please?
Do I simple extract your zip file and run it, even if it's already rooted?
I guess it was a Typo and shoud be "MTP"

It didn't work for me. The problem is I can't seem to install the supplied driver. Tablet S appears twice in the device manager, and I can't install the driver, it gives me a code 28 error.

Hmmm... potential issues? I think no. When ICS update will be available, then when you flash it - you will just loose root. We could try OTA RootKeeper, but I don't know if it will work with our tabs. Gotta try with normal/present ota update - and I will let you know.

ok, tnx. Just bought this baby yesterday and learning hard...
I'm comming from Galaxy S 2 forums and everything seems to be way easier there.
Here, I was affraid even to root it. LOL
It's where a pro becomes a noob. ...when getting a new device....
MiĆego...
I studied the source code of OTA root keeper today and it looks very interesting.
On the first view it should work on our tab and I guess it could save the root rights when ICS will arrive via OTA.
Supercurio used a very good trick (old linux command) to protect the su-backup file on a ext2/3/4 file system. The create a backup of su under /system/ with the name su-backup and protect the attributes with the 'chattri' command. Due to this fact, the OTA update will be not able to change something of this file. I am looking forward for ICS update next month and hope I am right.
So I made the base of my toolkit. Just waiting on a recovery to finish it. Now I want some ideas to add/implement/make it better.
Many people know that I make toolkits for basically every new HTC phone. Here is the sample for the One X+ at the moment.

Things I will NOT add.
- Stock/Custom Kernels
- Remove Root
- Probably more that I forgot
Many people flashed kernels and had no idea on how to use it and soft-bricked their phones.
Root can be removed with the SuperSU app from my toolkit.
So give reasonable recommendations and I will see what I can do!
Hey hasoon,
under "kernel" maybe "fastboot erase cache" as it comes hand after flashing boot.img (or directly in flash command for boot.img, if it's not already there)
and eventually "adb logcat -d >log.txt" under "command". Just for the lazy among us .

I've used your toolkit, and I have to say it is pretty awesome work. However, as a first time user, I was rather confused with the UI, since it looked like there was no real 'order' labelled on each section, they aren't labelled like "Step 1, 2.. etc". Otherwise, the tool works great.

ROM downloader is another story. I don't have a centralized database with all the ROMs. I'm adding ADB Sideload as we speak!
I'm redoing my scripts to make this even better! It isn't easy and I probably won't have it done tonight. My goal is to have it done by tonight! However, I never had these features before, so I'm learning how to implement them without errors!
Here's a sample of the new addition!
Make some requests. I'll see what I can do!
Features will vary from device to device. The Amaze does not need an ADB Sideload feature. I'm using my Amaze source to mess with the new add ons.
This will not be done tonight. It's taking a lot of time to write this and it's giving me some errors.

No, writing SuperCID won't have any affect to your phone's internal storage, system/data partition, or any other part of your phone other than the CID. Also, I'd like to know how you achieved S-OFF since there is no known way of attaining for HOX+ as of yet.

This looks like the easiest method yet! Is this root method compatible with decrypting? Ik some people have been reporting that with certain root methods they lose root after decrypting and re rooting makes them re encrypt.

If you decrypt then use fastboot to install twrp and flash SuperSU by chainfire you will stay unencrypted use the newest beta by chainfire.... Most of the root toolkits replace the kernel and it's back to encrypted that way

root the device the right way, it takes about 4-5 minutes.
1. use fastboot while your in your bootloader and type.. fastboot oem unlock. this will unlock your bootloader.
2. fastboot flash a custom recovery.
3. flash the latest supersu in your new recovery.
4. reboot with root.
that's it, the right way.

I managed to get around it using fastboot/adb and cmd, that way you can flash TWRP and root it, and from there you can flash new ROMS, kernels, what have you

same as you i had to use the manual way but its extrange because this kit detect my mobile in fastboot mode but no with the phone on so i used the cmd and flashed twrp with the code fastboot flash recovery twrp.xxxx.img (reboot manualy in the recovery the first time because if you use the advanced menu in oxygenOS it will reboot in the stock recovery) and later i flashed the superSU zip, the only thing that i dont try yet is to flash xposed zips
