My sister and I have the same phones, the HTC Amaze. We're both running on Android Revolution, and this bug occurs only when I send her a MMS. Not vice versa. Whenever I send her a picture, she ends up getting like 4 of the same pics i sent, when i only sent it once. Does anybody know how to solve this issue?
If you don't get it sorted you can download a free app called WhatsApp. It's like mms but better, send bigger files, more smiles, etc. Send everything for free too (apart from data costs).

On Bionix 1.3.1. Regardless of using the touchwiz mms, aosp mms, or go sms, all MMS that I receive from other devices all end up being re-sized to miniscule levels.
iPhone & HTC Desire Z, and a Samsung Gravity are the known phones I've received MMS from and they all come in pretty crappy.
On Mobilicity in Canada, and no one who has sent me an SMS has shared my network.
iPhone is on Bell & Rogers, HTC is on Bell, Gravity is on Rogers.
Has anyone been able to figure out a way to prevent this? I called my carrier and they said re-sizing was done by the handset and not them.
Its just the settings in the mms app! It re-sizes pictures to a smaller size so it's easier to send! There are some hacked mms apps that might let you send uncompressed pictures, but the easy work around is to send it as an email & you get the original picture quality! Hope this helps!

It's not the sending that I'm concerned with, but the receiving.
There was one point where MMS messages came in full sized, but I forget which iteration of Bionix (on eclair) I had at the time. Ever since, everything I receive is ridiculously compressed that I can barely see the picture.
Currently using Handcent as my messaging app (but have also verified this in the stock messaging app). Whenever I get longer type of texts from my friends (most using iphones) it shows as a MMS message.
Is there a setting I may have missed to stop this? It's getting really annoying.
Also, is there a way to disable that stupid slideshow when someone sends more than 1 picture in a text?
I text back and forth with my wife all the time... She has an iPhone 4S. I have never had any of her texts arrive as MMS unless they were that. I still use the stock app and running on the stock ROM unrooted. You said you verified this on the stock app, but was that ever before installing the Handcent app or only after?
As far as the stupid slideshow issue... I hate it too... Even if it's only 1 single solitary picture it will play the slideshow... Stupid... Not sure why, but I can't help with that.
Should be normal......... depending on how much you're typing. If you pass the length of 3 text messages, it automatically gets turned into mms to be able to send all of it in one go.
If you're typing less than 3 text messages worth and it still gets sent as an mms, you have a problem.

The reciever of the pictures not being able to download due to size? I noticed when I send a pic it shows as an MMS. Am I missing something? Maybe the settings are too high?

When I use the XDA mobile app, and try to put a picture in the post. Several times it will say format of the picture is wrong.
Then for no reason, other times it asks which size, two options appear, and I take the smaller one. It works.
Had no issues sending to others via email or txt.
I get it alot but for some reason iphone users recieve my pics no prob

I'm not having any trouble sending pictures, but as of tonight I'm having trouble receiving from iPhone users. I keep getting the dreaded "One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal." error. I get videos and audio just fine...pictures, probably 90% of them aren't coming through. Sometimes I don't get any error at all. It's becoming very frustrating.

Are they getting the error "File too large for phone capacity and automatically deleted" ? Because my buddy was getting this with his Galaxy S II and it turned out to be that his sd card was full (he had his mms settings set to have pics sent to his external sd card.) He couldn't send or receive mms messages until he cleared up some space.

I contacted AT&T, they updated my MMS settings and I'm no longer having this issue EXCEPT from one particular iPhone user who's iPhone is sending some pictures at larger than AT&T's 600KB limit. So apparently the issue is on her end. And she's too lazy to call AT&T and have them check her account and settings. Grr.
Hey, folks. I'm new, obviously.
I recently rooted and s-offed my LTEVO. I installed TWRP 2.6.3.0 and CM10.1 Stable (I also installed the exFAT fix). The problem I'm having and that I'm reading a lot of people are having is with MMS. I'm not sure if group messaging falls into MMS or SMS but I can neither send/receive picture or media messages, nor can I SEND group messages (although I can receive them). I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes, whether there's a fix that I just haven't found (I have done extensive searching/trolling before making a profile to ask this question) or if this is a common issue which may have been resolved in newer builds. Essentially, I was wicked pumped when I found out that I could receive group messages from people because the stock, unrooted LTEVO would receive "multimedia messages" from everyone participating in the conversation individually instead of all within the same thread or whatever you wanna call it. But, as I've come to find out, I can't actually participate in these group sessions, I can only SEE them organized within one text thread (which is still better than stock, but disappointing that it doesn't take one seemingly essential step further). Also, I thought it was just crappy Sprint service, but it seems that I can't send or receive multimedia messages (that aren't in text form). I was excited, again, to see that the preview of the image I was going to send was minimally compressed, if at all. I was sick of sending people screenshots of blurry, illegible caca, but again this feature falls short and now I can't actually send or receive any form of media.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong, or maybe what I'm just NOT doing right. At any rate, if anyone could shed some light on my unfortunate situation that'd be stellar. I'm forced to use Voxer for the time being.
I'm having the same problem. Any assitance is welcome!
I can't say I completely understand your issue but will give an answer with my best guesstimate as to a fix.
You are trying to group messages with others that have iPhones. iPhones natively send texts as mms while android natively sends as sms. Hence your problem (I think).
You need to use a third party messaging app. There are a couple that handle this but I use Go Sms Pro. It allows you to send and receive texts all while staying in the group without splitting the messages.
Once you install go sms pro you need to change a few settings in the app (you can find the correct group settings on Google easily) and disable the notifications from the stock messaging app (so you don't get multiple notifications for one text).
Hope this is what you were asking about as it is an issue for a lot of people.

The stock Samsung messaging app struggles to send mms. It seems like it went resizing photos and live messages maybe? When I switch to non stock apps they all work fine, but in the stock app, especially group threads, sometimes they never send, or only some people in the group get the message. Had anyone else experienced this?
