What are your guys boot times like?
Mine is like a min to two. To me this seems kind of high for anything quad core.
Also while mine is booting at the ASUS logo, the logo it self seems to flicker kind of. it quickly distorts a bit and then fixes itself. happens 2 or 3 times per boot. Anyone else notice this?
Mine takes only about 20-25 seconds.

Have not checked my gps. mine has some screen bleeding but not enough to be distracting.

Does it concern you at all or am I just being overly paranoid?

you not alone..lmao same here. takes about 2 mins to boot up. then while the circle spinning you'll notice the Asus logo flicker a few times. hopefully new update speeds up boot time and takes care of flicker on Asus logo while booting up.
Doesn't bother me to much because I don't plan to turn it off very often lol. Until I get root and am flashing things anywayz.

Mine takes 1min 43 secs to boot. I get the logo distortions as well.
i get the distortions as well, and takes b/t 1-2mins to boot.
it's fairly normal and not something multiple cores is going to help with.
the graphical distortions are not a normal thing though, and since they don't seem to repeat at normal intervals, i don't think it's due to corrupted images in the boot animation, but something else. hopefully ICS fixes all these small issues.
and i mean ICS in the sense of the next update, since asus promised it so soon, i don't see how making more revisions to HC is a good use of their time.
if it seems too long, go turn on a blackberry and then the prime's boot time will feel almost instantaneous.
1:20 seconds here. Is it honeycomb?
No flicker at all on the Asus Logo here. boots in less than 45 sec i guess- haven't timed it.

I don't think the cpu is the bottleneck .. quad core is overrated by so many people...
I/O and RAM performance are way more important ... (for instance: put a SSD in an atom machine, it will boot windows 7 faster than a i7 with 7200k rpm disk... )
Same here, takes a good 1-2 minutes for mine to boot up, thought that was kinda weird...
I don't recall, but does anyone know when the ICS update is due? I do remember Asus saying by the end of the year, but has that changed?

They said by end of year so they have 2 days for now we wait but most likely will be second week in January
It may be comparing apples to oranges but my Galaxy Nexus w/ICS boots in 44 seconds.
my galaxy tab 10.1 took 30 seconds and my prime takes almsot two minutes. whoever has one that takes 20sec please post a video!

My new Prime's Asus logo glitches and twitches during boot. Anyone else have this? I'm worried it is a video problem!
Thanks.
this happened to me one time after the first sleep.. i held the power button down a while and also hit the volume rocket both ways.. basically button mashed while holding the power down and eventually it vibrated and turned on.. hasn't happened since.
Thanks Oasis. I was in the process of changing my post when you replied. To clarify for others, I was compaining that mine wouldn't boot, but it was simply in the dreaded sleep of death.
I'm interested in knowing whether others are seeing anything strange during boot. It looks to me like the video card is on the way out. The Asus logo moves about during boot and 'glitches' IE little flecks of random video corruption.
Thanks.

yes, a lot of other people have mentioned the glitching of logo on boot up. doesn't seem to affect anything though. system update should take care of this.
Try not to blink so much people.
Blinking makes the Logo flicker during reboots. The Prime is just fine, check your blinkers...

Now the Prime is working again, but weirdly the battery is showing as 0% with a question mark next to it. And.... it has just gone into sleep once more. Aaargh. I should mention the battery was fully charged! Looks like the battery is messed up or something as the Prime asks me to plug in the charger even when it is plugged in.

This is the brand new, one of a kind, just released here in the UK one which arrived this morning.
I'm glad the glitching is nothing, but rebooting the Prime didn't have any affect. Battery still 0%, and the tablet doesn't realise the charger is connected still. Even did a factory reset to no avail. Ah well. They are very scarce over here and are not actually due out until the 12th so I've got a few weeks to wait before I can receive a replacement.
Mine has done this since day one. A little disconcerting...but I don't see a correlation to any other issues.

Thanks for bringing this up, it's quite relevant to my interests.
Mine also gets hot. I recently upgraded my folks' phones to ATT Galaxy S II's (non Skyrocket) and they both get very hot when surfing on battery power via data. My battery monitor widget said 103'F at one point.
My Note also feels a little laggy (not hugely so) and has crashed a couple of times. The battery life is atrocious (coming from an iPhone 4)... I'm considering exchanging it at ATT as I'm still well within my 30 days. Rooting and freezing all the usual suspect apps hasn't helped.

Whats weird is that my original one didnt get hot but was laggy and freezing up. This ones the exact opposite.. Fast as hell and hot. My first note would her extremely hot between 117f and 130f while idle on a charger from the top half up. Used a thermal temp sensor from my liquid cooling to measure temp. According to a friend of mine manager at an att, said the heat problem is the biggest for return and that from what he's found out talking a Sammy rep that the cpu and memory in some units through shipping and handling have been loosened from their respective heat transfer system.
So basically manufacture defect and if it gets hot replace it. It'll hurt the internals.

Got my Note 2 about 2 weeks or so ago and like it so far. However, I notice it runs pretty warm consistently. Using system tuner, the temp is upper 40s°C Most of the time. And this is just sitting in my pocket, not gaming or anything intensive. Anybody experience this? The screen is pretty warm and is even uncomfortable to hold to my ear. Any help is appreciated. Man, I hope that doesnt mean something is wrong with the phone. I just restarted it and I immediately started feeling heat from the screen when it turned on. Are there any ways to see if an app or something is the cause rather than hardware, etc? I'm trying to keep an eye on any apps I downloaded and might reset the phone as a next step...

Your device probably has a lack of thermal paste on the motherboard or they didn't put enough past in between the display.
Sent from my rooted galaxy note 2... U mad?
Have you run any benchmarks? If there is an issue then it won't be good for the phone, but it'll tell you if it's throttling from heat issues. You also may be able to trade it at verizon with just the heat issue since it's noticeable so fast, but I'm not sure..
Ran a benchmark and everything seemed fine for that test. I'm resetting it now and will see if that makes a difference. I'm just past the two weeks and know I'd probably get a refurbished if I went to exchange it now. Everything else is working fine, so if this can be figured out then I'd much prefer to keep this one. Thanks for the advice guys. If anyone else knows something else to check before I possibly exchange it, that'd be great!

We have the same issue.. First install the android tuner, remember that the battery temp is not the same as the CPU temp.
I have my note that sits 38-42 CPU temp when Idle and 28-32 battery temp.
When I am browsing I could really feel the heat on the upper part of the screen. my CPU temp rise to 47-50 and my battery temp rises to 32-34.
Check your note.
I was browsing rhrough the forums and saw that you had the same problem too. My CPU temp is about 42C idle and goes up to 50 or just over when doing pretty much anything. My battery is about 33C at idle

Where did your note made from? What country? Mine came from china and assembled in vietnam.
Ill check in a little while. I tried resetting it and it was doing better at first but doing the same thing again. Easily going over 50C if I'm just in the camera for about 30 seconds and most ither apps. Might just exchange it, even if I get a refurb, and take my chances

I doubt verizon stores would have gotten refurbished phones by now. I exchanged mine last saturday for other reasons and got a new one.

Turns out it was an app or two causing it. I think one culprit was running wallpapers through picspeed instead of saving them first. Lesson learned and still monitoring cpu and battery usage. It's now running normal temps (low 30s even 28-29 sometimes when I first wake the screen). Thanks for the advice!

Just thought I'd share. So I was playing Plants vs Zombies 2 this morning(only my second time playing) and I was going strong for a good 45mins I'd say. When all of a sudden my game froze and my tab rebooted itself. As it was rebooting I grabbed the tab by the top portion around the camera and both the front and back of the tab were burning up. I'm talking seriously hot to the touch. I actually went and put the tab in the freezer for a min as I was concerned that level of heat mite do some permanent damage. After it cooled down I turned it back on and its running fine now. I'm presently running CyanogenMod 10.3 and that was my first freeze/reboot since installing it. Plus it was only my second time playing PvZ2 as the first time was briefly for a couple minutes so I'm doubting its just a coincidence. Its a really fun game but not at the expense of my tab. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads in case anything similar happens to somebody else

Remember making cool ornaments when I was younger. We'd heat up glass insulators in an oven and then quickly cool them off. Created all kinds of crazy cracking in the glass and looked cool.
Glad you didn't get all kinds of crazy cracking in your tab after going through the two temperature extremes like that.

That's interesting....I have a few mates who have the Nexus 10 and none of them have had those problems. They have had theirs since they were released...Maybe you dropped them once?
You just might be an isolated incident. Another mate if mine has the N7 but the only issue is the charger port issue that many other people have.

No misuse at all and another annoying bug is the way it deletes part of the pin number after a reboot so you have to re-do the pin number.

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles with both N10s. I would surely have the same frustrations were I you.
We have two N10s, his and hers, for about a year and half. They are used for several hours every day, because we are retired and have lots of time to be online or reading books. My wife's N10 runs Purity ROM and is rock solid for her word games and eBay, facebook, shopping, email and all the other stuff. Mine is rock solid for banking, bill pay, surfing and videos. It usually runs CM11, but could be temporarily running something else while playing around with ROMs. We charge our tablets every day, and try never to get below 50% before plugging in.
I do plan to buy at least one N9 when released, not out of need, but, instead, out of curiosity for an Android 3x4 screen format. Fun times ahead for us Nexus fans.

Don't forget nexus 10 is a two years old tablet but it was a gem in its own time. After 2 years we still don't have any tablets with a higher screen resolution than nexus 10. Which makes it perfect for media consumption. I think only galaxy tab s has a better screen nowadays.
It has had its own shortcommings but most of them are by rectified by software updates, like memory leaks or random reboots.
I have purity ROM on my nexus 10 and I have zero reboots or problems. Everything works like a charm after 2 years of heavy usage. The only thing that I envy now is a super amoled screen on my tablet.

I agree, the Nexus Tablet line was literally one of the biggest POS. I owned a Nexus 7 tablet for about six months and never dropped it or anything. The problem started out with ghosting/ghost input touches then later on progressed to half the touch screen not working at all... Although I initially loved it literally became one the biggest let downs ever...
On top of this, I had also read many articles on XDA and elsewhere of people with the same problem trying to send their tablet's in to ASUS for the warranty and they basically just sent the tablets back to them as is with a software upgrade, which didn't help at all since it was a hardware problem.

Mine had worked flawlessly since the week it was released.
I got mine when they released the tablet and I've never had one problem with it.
I got mine first month of release and it was great for about a year. It's still good now but my siblings abused it so now the battery drains quick (used to last all day and some of the next now I'm lucky if it reaches the end of the day) and speakers are chipping paint.
Other than that there no issues though and those are pretty much our fault. The battery problem could be from not using official charger or just charging all night

I bought my shortly after release and have not experienced any problems with it. I have almost exclusively been using the Franco kernel with AOKP. I use it every day in place of my laptop. I can watch movies, youtube, internet, social media, etc. all day on a single charge.
I bought mine around feb/mar 2013.
It's a piece of crap.
Yellow/brownish tint on the screen that is getting bigger as we speak, battery shutdown at 30% (workarounds exist!), overheating, slow response, slow R/W speeds, etc. I have to do a factory reset pretty much every month.
On top of that: Gergle being a b*tch about it because they've deactivated my account (inactivity). Really funny guys.
I don't know what to do.
I guess I'll throw it away, as soon as I have something new. I'll never buy anything touched by Samsung again. No phone, tablet, TV, you name it. The only thing they're good as is NAND.

The problem is: I force the system NOT to shutdown. The battery stays at 0%, but the device keeps running.
This is dangerous. When the CPU ramps up and the voltage is too low it'll cause instability, which you can see by the backlight flickering, the speakers making weird noises, all that bad stuff.
I am not sure how this affects the battery (or the device) physically, since Li-Ion is not very happy when it's "too" discharged. But it'll wear out the battery even faster, I fear. (This is unfunded. I have not enough knowledge about electronics that advanced. But I've read it somewhere. :silly
But, that out of the way: There's an xposed module. I DO NOT recommend using it. It's called DisableCriticalBatteryShutdown, by the user zst123.
You WILL run into fc's of the systemui when plugging the device back in. But the process should restart by itself.
There's a thread on XDA. AGAIN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS MODULE.
I got my Nexus 10 shortly after they were released, and though I love it because it's screen is gorgeous and it has front-facing speakers, it is really buggy, and has been since day one.
It freezes and restarts on me probably daily, and always has since it was brand new. In the early days it always happened while using Chrome, and at the time I remember reading that it was a Chrome-specific issue, so I just switched to Firefox in hopes of a better experience.
It was better, for the most part, but eventually it started freezing at other times as well. I still like the tablet, but it definitely has never been a great performer.
I got my Nexus 10 at release, after 1.5 months of Google not shipping it, losing it, telling me that it was coming, etc... Worst customer experience I ever had. I was on the phone with them daily.
When I finally got it it worked fine for a little while but as I put more and more on it and actually tried to use it to stream video, I would get random reboots, freezing, etc...
I've tried relentlessly to talk my wife into letting me unlock it and put a custom ROM on it hoping it would fix things but she would never let me. Now that it's almost two years old, and I barely use it do to all the reboots, etc..., she might finally let me unlock it.
I was really looking forward to getting this tablet when they announced it but with all the problems, for me it pretty much became a $500 paperweight. I use my GS4 so much more than I every used this tablet, even when I'm home.

I have 2 Nex10's. Both bought at launch. One is stable as a rock (thank god it's the wife's or else) but mine is a bit of a dud. Instabilities and crashes since day one.
Not a day goes by that I don't have to do the 3 finger salute to restart because it has frozen solid.
Tried factory resetting, flashed factory images whenever a new one was around and tried different kernels. No change whatsoever.
I believe Samsung's soc is the culprit here, which was also the issue with the chrome chrashes in the early days (GPU drivers that fixed the issue where delayed by Samsung, which was silly as it's a stock Mali GPU).
Never mind the USB connectivity issues that only Samsung devices do. I had no problem connecting any of my other tablets and phones (Nexus 7, 4, 5, Xperia Z, various HTCs, even Nokia Lumias) to my PC. The Nex10? No dice. I had to manually remove any and all USB drivers, do 3 rain dances and pray to the lord of shadows before I got it to work.
