In the UK and on an unlocked non branded phone, Just did a check and I have a firmware updated waiting, currently downloading it, but can't find any info anywhere on what its for/contains.

I got notification too.
Wow, great.
Please let us know if it is still rootable after this update.
It's rootable with otarootkeeper and in standard way.
Failed to install for me
Still have root after upgrade on mine, but other than root and taking a cwm, I hadn't made any other changes yet

Operator name has been removed from the notification bar entirely?
Managed to update successfully, everything is intact, root, smart settings etc. flawless
Operator is still displayed for me...weird

Operator name still there and the background in settings is still white!

No.
Why did you think this?
he's probably talking about the 651.150.1 update which had those changes listed in changelog

That makes sense thanks. I would love to see the operator name disappear from the status bar - "Vodafone UK" takes up almost half of it!
Yes. I'm talking about the 651.150.1
Now My Razr is 651.150.1 but I want Official updete.
but I'll stay 651.150.1 If operator name does not disappear from the status bar.
i'm gonna stick with 651.150.1 too. the official update seems like a step back. at least from what i read in the changelog. yes, they added some apps but i'm not gonna loose those cool changes in 651.150.1 just over some apps.
on version numbers alone, the leaked update appears 'newer' for want of a better word.. Aside from Evernote, the official ota has less stuff in it. Wonder why the network provider name in the notification bar and black background features were pulled? Can anyone confirm whether the camera, wifi improvements etc in the official ota are also in 651.150.1 too?
Difficult to confirm without a changelog but I appear to have noticed with 651.150.1 wifi is working much better than it was as I had a few issues with the stock with wifi. Although I never used the camera much before updating so Couldn't comment on that
I also use the 651.150.1 and have better performance than before (651.73.23). I've just flashed the newer Radio "U_03.1C.85P" from 651.73.30 (the radio included in 651.150.1 is U_03.1C.83P). I believe this is where improvements in WiFi, calling and messaging mentioned in 651.73.30 changelog are related to.

Its all good...not like its the end of the world, just reflashed nitros rom. Now i will wait patiently until it is fixed lol
works great. (running with pre-rooted stock 2.3.3)
Thanks for this!
PS
I see what you are talking about with the wifi icon (uses default icon for < 50% wifi signal)
Only bug I see so far
ok yea somehow it works randomly but I think I found the culprit it was in the framework I got from religi0n and I should have the fix up in a sec

Yea and I cant for the life of me find why its not using my png or where its even getting the default from but soon enough hopefully
As of right now I cant replicate the error, if you do by chance have trouble with it let me know what ROM your running and any other info like what you've done besides install my theme
If you built this on the stock GB framework and systemUI files, it won't play nice with Eclipse. I made a theme a few days ago and when I flashed it into eclipse it killed the notification system completely!
This theme is awesome! Thanks for all your hard work

I attached the files you themed from Eclipse on this post. I HAVE NOT THEMED THEM. Maybe you could theme them, I'm not sure. I also just checked your framework-res, and nothing seems out of the ordinary...
I will look into this, as I haven't had any issues with it.

Cool I'll check those out and I might have jumped the gun with your framework. I just seen the resources.arsc was compressed in the apk and that usually leads to trouble; but I didnt seem to have any problems with it. Also I had a problem with stock, I believe was unrelated to those that were running nitro's, that I cant replicate(for now I'll dismiss it). I'll be looking into to all this soon enough, its probably about time I ran something besides stock.
Resources.arsc? I thought I dealt with that, crap. Ill re do the framework when I get home.

Ill tell you. I love this theme. It really completes the phone for me. You did a excellent job and I didnt even know you snuck in crt. That even makes it better. Thank you very much all your time and effort and sharing it with all of us. I know you made it for yourself and half the fun of having something different is that nobody else has it so i know what it took to share. thank you again
does it make a difference what rom i'm on before i flash or can i just flash right over pre-rooted stock 2.3.3?
Awesome theme, the wifi looks silly though when it changes back to stock icon. Don't know if its possible but can you make the screen lock pattern light up green when unlocking phone? That would be sick.
Edit:a note on wifi indicator, I noticed if I have 4 bars its the gb icon, 3 bars is your indicator, 2 is gb indicator, 1 is yours. So it switches back each time it calls for it. Hope this helps nail down what's causing it.

Hey all
I have downloaded the new ICS rom from the sticky on the forum and i am currently having 2 problems:
1) The default keyboard will only type numbers !!! No matter what i do, it wont output any letters. Any idea why? (for the time being i have downloaded GO keyboard, but would like to get the stock one working)
2) The email app (the one where the icon has a red wax seal on it) doesnt delete emails off the server when i delete them from the phone. THIS DEFINITELY USED TO HAPPEN as i used to go weeks without logging into my email account in an actual web browser and i would only ever see the emails i kept. Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help
is anyone able to help with this?
Factory reset.
Reflash firmware.
Upgrade to later rom.

Hi, I'd recommend UHLPE from Intratech's thread - 1075278 (post #3). It's a clean 4.0.3 rom and has been working well. Noticed a number of persons complaining about XXLPQ build but haven't had any of their issues with UHLPE. The big gain in this rom over Gingerbread is better battery life.
Other than this I think the only other rom build at the moment is ZSLPE but haven't tried this as yet.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for this.
Can you confirm this rom will work in the UK? I only ask as it has trinidad and tobago written in there
Is it still the best rom out there?
I'm not 100% on the UK compatibilty. It may, however as you mentioned the CSC is T&T (unbranded),
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider
Click to collapse
so it will not have your carrier's branding, APN & MMS settings etc. But I had my carrier's info and quickly set this up. If you are not too familiar with these it may be best to wait on a UK based update.
ps. What firmware you used from the forums when you originally encountered the keyboard issue? You can check by dialing *#1234#
Now, before anyone confuses this with AT&T Smart Wifi on the market, I'm not asking for that (that app is garbage in my opinion.)
Now, to the task at hand...
Stock Samsung ROMs have something called AT&T Hotspot Manager embedded into the Wifi settings, which allow the automatic sign in of AT&T hotspots around the country without opening a browser to sign into the network.
I'm using CM9 nightlies at the moment, and upon installing the hotspot manager is not packaged with the nightlies. Not an issue regarding CM9, but I was wondering is there a download package or zip that I can install via CWM or any other method to regain this automatic sign in capability? I'm at a Starbucks and Barnes and Noble a lot, and found this aspect of the phone to be very useful.
Appreciate the timely replies
I'm curious about this too, I've settled in to AOKP after jumping around on ICS roms for a month or so and I just realized I'm not getting my hotspots anymore
I'll sniff around and edit this if I find anything useful, I'm not sure what exactly the hotspot manager was and why we wouldn't be able to just enter the settings for the hotspot into a standard wifi connection
Edit: So el goog wasn't very helpful, all I was able to find was a few similar posts to this one with no remedy. I went to my Titanium Backup and searched through my backed up apps knowing that the manager had to be in there somewhere because I'd used some of the ROM's based off of the stock i777 and found something called "At&t Hot Spots." I restored it to my current ROM and I'll test it at Mickey D's at lunch.
Don't. It's a terrible app.
Looking over your shoulder...
Well restoring the app seems to have had no effect, it still requires me to log in to the wifi. I'm not sure why everyone says it was a terrible app, before I rooted my battery life was just fine with it running, even if I neglected to turn off wifi

I'll agree that most of their software is absolutely worthless trash, but this one in particular I really thought was handy... All it did was automatically log into AT&T hotspots when you were in range
This question should be relocated to Q&A

First off, I do agree. But what this thread is concerning is that it's not an app. Rather, it was an embedded feature in the stock ROM of this phone, checked off in the wi-fi settings.
Since it's not an app, one cannot readily download it off the market. So it must be a package. From the results of this thread though, I guess a package like this doesn't exist..?
Here's the file: AT&T Hotspots 0.955
This is extracted from a UCKH1 stock ROM. Hopefully it works for you.

Thanks, unfortunately this is the same one I have in my TB from the stock rom and it doesn't seem to have any effect on ics (I did convert it to a system app). I think I'll try installing the "leaked" ics stock rom and try taking it from there to see if its a newer version.

That makes about as much sense as having to type in your WEP password each time you log into your home network. Net battery life would be about equal to not having the app, as it takes screen on time (BIGGER battery suck) to go though all the steps necessary to login without this app.

I had the earlier version installed through my Titanium backups. I installed the one posted on this thread and I saw that the app was upgraded. (Additionally, the at&t hotspots icon vanished from the app drawer, I could see that it was running though).
However, it doesn't seem to connect automagically to attwifi. Any clues?

Sprint. There doesn't seem to be a setting to disable the system updates like there was on my old Evo.
I'd like to know too.
Which app controls the update notification, so I can freeze it?
Or can one modify build.prop and change the room build version to stop getting system update notification?
I've been able to "resolve" the notification issue by flashing the latest update of the rom you're using, but I really don't like having to do it so often just to avoid the update notification. It would be nice to get it turned off somehow--bump.
Assuming you're rooted, go into TiBu and filter for AT&T Software update (or insert the carrier you're on), then click the filter funnel.
The app to freeze will be right there for you to see, and....well, freeze.
I'm on AT&T so in my case the app is called: "AT&T Software update V3_1205_2_2"

I used Titanium Backup (TB) for this. Basically you are gonna wanna freeze the update app using TB. It is called "Software update v3_1205_1_3"
Or at least that is what they are called on my phone and ROM. They might have slightly different name on your device depending on the carrier, device variant, and ROM.
Hope this helps!

The OP mentioned "B02", not "B20". Typo?
Anyway, the B20 for the US version was only ~80MB. The OP reports 2GB for this one. Sounds like the difference between a standard OTA update and full image. Not sure why they'd do a full image update, but some companies have/do.
