Pretty neat, it's plastic and aluminum. For $13, its not a bad option.
This has been brought up before and i think it was found to kill gps signal damn near completely. I think a lot of the talk was in a aluminum taurus bumper thread. Also there are some better looking ones on ebay i think
Well my bad...I searched and nothing came up (as usual )

Wrong, some people have had GPS issues, not sure it was completely linked to the bumper itself. I have a Taurus on my phone and have never had a problem with GPS.
Though this particular battery cover accessory, looks to me more like a plastic back with an adhesive aluminum plate on it.
edit: "Plastic battery cover with metal accent panel. "
Yeah, that's exactly what it is.
I bought this one before and i can said that : it very UGLY in real life . i'v never put it in my phone .
They have some cool ones on Ebay. I can't speak for their quality, but they are neat color options for about $11 shipped.

i have it and it does kill GPS signal. I only get 1 satellite, the second i remove the aluminum backplate i have like 8 and instant lock.
I got the carbon fiber pattern mirror finish version of this battery door and I can tell you it does NOT kill the GPS reception at all. I've used GPS several times without an issue. I've even been able to get a GPS lock inside my home in less than 1 minute.

I have the vibrant and it's an amazing phone, etc etc etc.
The only thing is that my dad used it before i got it and he didn't have it in a case so, although the screen is virtually impeccable, the battery cover has some light scratches and scuffs.
What are some tips you guys have to inexpensively rid the battery door of light scratches?
You could maybe give car wax a try if you have any handy

use a mild abrasive like car polish then follow up with a wax if you want a sheen. this normally gets rid of decent scratches on the car from dirt racing so it should work on the back cover. rmr less is more. dont goop it on otherwise you will have a b***h of a time getting it off especially on such a small surface.
im scuffing mine up good in preparation for a paint job im tired of the faux carbon fibre look that just attracts finger prints too much.
you could also do what im doing and take some sand paper scuff it up then use a spray paint to cover it, then a clear coat on top to protect the paint. not sure how thats going to turn out yet tho.
You can buy new battery doors on eBay for like $5 bucks. You can get all different cool patterns and colors (I have a metallic silver one on now), or get the stock Galaxy S/Samsung backs (black and purple).

If you want an idea of the true color of it, it's very similar to the red accents on the phone. It's just like a matte shimmer, if that makes sense. It looks even better in person, trust me.

I wouldn't say big at all. If you've used the Otterbox Commuter before, it's essentially the same size, just a little more protection. And it hugs the phone reeeeaally well. When I got the blue one, I thought the whole 6-prong thing would cause issues and stretch out. But the plastic is extremely strong and the rubber is thin, but super-high quality. I had to take the blue one off a bunch for battery pulls with all of the flashing I've done in the past few weeks. I was afraid it would start to stretch, but it was perfect every time. I expect nothing less from this red one. It's nice. Probably the first case I would say is actually worth the $30. Don't hesitate; just get it. It's worth it
Has anyone noticed the case does not have those 2 tiny holes in the back of the case? They would be just above the S on the back. Im told those 2 tiny holes in the back cover are for the phones antenna, it is said to help the reception.
Has your reception gone down? Check your -db with the cover on verses off.
that is the only thing I am concerned about, reception is -97db here at the house, yup pretty poor but I dont get any dropped calls, hopefully the cover wont cause problems

Blocking those holes does nothing to signal. It's all good. Same thing was asked about the Commuter case from Otterbox. You would essentially cover those holes anyway if you hold your phone when you talk.

Just got mine and put it on. Looks 5 stars! Feel, so far 4 stars, which is pretty good since I never use a case. It's surprisingly thin..... I may change my mind when I'm sober, but very impressed..... Sound, 1star, my creeks like a MoFo. I was hoping the case would relieve me of creeks, not amplify them. Hopefully I installed it wrong. Anyone else getting creeks?

I think this case looks really nice, but I'm concerned about those LTE holes that are covered on the back. I would think that HTC placed those holes there for a reason, and other cases do not block them. Hmm, trying to decide between this case and the Incipio.

I wouldn't get anything metal for this phone. I'm thinking that one of the big reasons that the SGS2 has a plastic back cover where the SGS had metal (in most cases) is because the GPS in the SGS sucked ass and that the plastic cover interferes with it less.
I don't know this for sure, but I would highly suspect that is a major contributing factor for the plastic.

I'm not sure that is completely true. I've test my old SGS Captivate with and without the metal battery cover and there was no improvements. The GPS receiver in the phone was just crap. SGS2 has a much better gps receiver which is the simple fact.
As for the SGS2 I'm sure some more testing would need to be completed to know for sure.

Yep, the GPS for our beloved Cappys were crap, and there were far more contributing factors than just the metal cover.
i had one of these cases on my lg thrill 4g 3d phone, it was a decent case, looked great but the clear plastic part got pretty scratched up after not too long...
I have it. do i use it nope. its actually just a a piece of aluminum sticked to a clear case that does not fit the phone. it will scratch it. left a wittle scratch on the top corner of mine.

Has anyone seen a replacement cover for that ugly glossy black part? I'd love to replace that with a better looking piece of plastic.
I doubt there will ever be one. Unless you can talk joey3002 into making some again, but I think he's done with the covers.
You should wait and see what the phone looks like in person.
I was just gonna take it off and go at it with 800 or 1000 grit wet and take off the gloss

I agree 100%. I don't want to put a case on my EVO but definetly need to replace that ugly glossy black part. HTC should just have kept it matte black.
I'm going with an otterbox defender. I need a heavy duty case though. Have had an otterbox on my Eco 4 G since week two after it launched. Quality case.
I would pay $$$ to get one in CF..

I want to do the same, but it looks like the camera lens part of it is going to be a PITA. Hopefully there will be third party covers available that will match the bottom half of the back.

If the reason why that piece of the phone is plastic is due to the antenna placement, then replacing it with a cf piece may cause some signal attenuation as CF works as RF shielding for some applications, as i've read from RC model airplane forums where people discuss when and where to use CF in their planes.
also, NFC does not work without that specific cover in place. There are antennas and whatnot built into the thing. watch Phil Nickinsons quick walkthrough video on android central to see what I mean. he said that nfc definitely doesnt work without the cover on.
How about some carbon fiber vinyl wrap? It's not actual carbon so it shouldn't block anything right?

Eh the issue that you will have is making sure that it is cut correctly.
Will
thats what that xo skins cf-look skin looks like. 3m di-noc would work pretty well as its thin enough to wrap around some basic curvatures like the one we have for the back cover. I've seen it wrapped around some crazy shapes without additional relief cuts or anything so it would be a good place to start if you don't want to pay the 15 bucks for a few pieces of that material pre-cut for the phone.
I have 2 small rolls of the CF Di-Noc in both silver and black. Will upload pics as soon as I can get it laid down. Now to decided which color.

Just thought that I would share this since mine turned out pretty good. I plasti dip my back cover and then painted it. Turned out really good and does not effect my wireless charging. What do you guys think? Oh yeah, it can be peeled off if since the plasti dip is the first layer.
I think you should have picked a better color

When you take the cover off there is actually a plastic piece on the top of the cover where the IR sensor would be. Take that piece out before you do anything and then just put it back when you are done. Will not effect IR Blaster.

It really looks good in person. The grip is great. It wont slide around if it was on a smooth surface. It really feels like a really high end battery cover.
Ummm...I still prefer the stock look since that material doesn't look like it would be as comfortable.

Also, is removing the back cover that easy? I'm having doubts on my international set..

I plasti dip first so if I decided to take it off it would come off easy since the first layer is plasti dip and not just paint. You can definitely just use plasti dip but be aware that it might not last as long since you are constantly putting it you pocket. The edges might start to come off. After I painted the cover with a couple of coats, I also did a couple of coats of clear finish on it just to make sure.
Removing the back cover on my Verizon LG G2 was very easy. I picked a corner and was able to pull away the corner just enough to slide a plastic wedge in, and then i slowly and patiently moved it along the sides separating the cover from the phone. Just be careful and go slow and you shouldnt have any problems.
I wish I had the testicular fortitude to even think about trying it. Glad it worked out for you as that back has to be my one and only annoyance with the phone (other than the small buttons - but wireless charging is a nice trade off if that's what it took).
