Vote for Best 2011 Xperia on Xperiablog - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/29/vote-for-your-favourite-xperia-of-2011-poll/#more-4198
Just thought the Neo users on here could get behind the Neo on the Voting poll.. even the writers of the blog think the Neo is the best, but the Arc is way ahead in the poll..
Its good to hear people talk so nicely about the Neo anyway, Means I made the right choice! never doubted it for a minute..
Kiwi

I voted for the Arc, it's a lot cheaper now than back in July when I bought my Neo and it looks much better and larger screen. But I certainly don't regret my choice for the Neo.

Neo still got front cam for video chat , I use it

Arc's ok but somehow it feels too big for me... but who knows, maybe I would get used to that screen size.
Sent from my MT15i - Xperia Neo

Well I use skype video chat all the time so ffc was the big selling point for me.. The arc is a bit big too, if I want a big phone I would join the rest of Europe and buy a galaxy S2, however giving up usb otg when I want to use hdmi would suck... That's a Samsung fail.. The arc with no ffc is a definite Sony fail.

xperias are all similar, one has big screen but no front camera, the other has this but fails in that, I vote for neo, It s by far the best allrounder from the xperias.

[Q] Neo vs Neo V

Hello All
My Neo died and I've been offered a replacement Neo or the value (which is currently $389) in credit from http://www.mobicity.com.au.
Is the only difference the camera? If so is the original Neo better than the Neo V?
8mp vs 5mp?
Cheers

Except Camera, everything is same with Neo V. I dont find a reason to spent on Neo when the Neo V camera do click great images. That's just your choice.
Thanks. I ordered the Neo anyway. They were the same price. Brand new phone. Glad it was not repairable and I'm getting a new one! Looking forward to ICS with Cyanogenmod
was it your fault that your neo died??? and they just gave you a new one?
I don't know. Could have been the few times I dropped it, or the very large amount of stuff I flashed to test...Who knows. I sent it back because the camera would not work and it was randomly rebooting.
if the camera is better in Neo compared to Neo V, why even get Neo V when Neo is the same price? Except i can't find Neo anywhere.
EDIT:
After browsing, I found out the 8 meg Camera sensors were not available due to the massive earthquake hit in Japan earlier this year, that is why the new model came out as the same 8 meg sensors couldn't be manufactured.
Hope their rebuilding goes smooth! Japan
Because of the earthquake, the neoV and Neo haven't got same kernels

But the hardware should be the same, right? It's basically the same phone except for the cameras, that's at least what I've heard and read.
I'm glad I bought the Neo when I did, I've heard that there isn't a whole lot of them left in the stores over here (Sweden), apparently most stores now only have the Neo V.
I also heard that the 8mp Neo camera is supposed to be in the iPhone 4S as well, but I don't know if that's true.
I think Neo is better. I have got Neo for 194 € and i think I made good choose. Thumbs up for Xpria Neo.

€194?? Where do you live? Where did you bought it?
I bought it in the Netherlands at the huge German electronics business MediaMarkt for, mind you, €350. And they were was one of the cheapest resellers atm. FML.

Vodafone in Greece are offering the Neo V at only 199 euros, fully unlocked and sim-free (like all phones sold in Greece by all carriers). I think I'm gonna give it a try despite the fact that I'm convinced that they have screwed up the auto-brightness control and the phone takes initiatives to dim the screen very much...contrary to the wishes of the person who paid for it!
Neo rules xD
What do you think, how much better the camera is in Neo vs Neo V? If i understood right, the difference is not only megapixels, but Neo has this Exmor R sensor.
You know what I like the neo v better my wife has got the neo don't think it's that smooth the the V and the neo weighs more in that hand i like to think that v made cheaply lol

How have you returned your phone? Bootloader relocked and flashed it again with SEUS?
I might need to bring my phone in too, because the statusbar has burned in. Pretty nasty looking.

Something cool happened today

Short story , I went to buy a Sola and ended up with a P :laugh:
How great is that
Well I see a very big difference since I had X10 Mini :good::good:
This phone is so great , I just love it
LOL, sounds familiar to me;] I went to SONY with a plan of buying P, but finally I've bought S ;D I dont regret my decision for now. Good luck!
I had thought about buying an Xperia P, but as soon as I saw that there was no cardslot... and "only" 16GB internal... did I choose the Sola.
I know that the Xperia P has more RAM, but I can compensate with SWAP in that area.
The Xperia P did not cost much more.
I wanted to buy the P. I like the P more, but pricewise about the prices of the S. So I bought the S.
My brother just got the P though. Really nice phone.

Add to that the fact that the S is superior to the P in every way. Unibody or not. Spec wise there is no comparison between the two. I'm not a mid range sort of person so only the S appealed to me

[Q] Best features of the Xperia S compared to GSII

I'll be upgrading my phone (from Xperia Arc LT15i) to one of the Xperia S or Galaxy SII, as they are the only ones in my budget.
I've seen the specs of both phones, and it appears that the Xperia S clearly has overall better hardware, and since I'm leaning towards the Xperia S, I'd like some personal experiences with it and if possible, compared to the Arc or GSII.
Sucks how I can't get a white version with my network carrier :/

Xperia S is one level higher than GSII

The S is good... But there are more roms for the SGS II.. if you use your phone for gaming the Samsung is better since it has tegra chipset...
But I love my SXS and will definitely have a Sony again after this
But try before you buy...
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
I don't think that you'll be upgrading when you buy Galaxy S2, there are lots of devices "new devices" and I think you should wait a bit.
Performance wise SII beats the XS. Downside being the screen with just 480x800 resolution. But the development and choice of Roms is unreal. I'd go for the SII.
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
S2 is more powerful than the S..
And it has a lot of great development....
But if u r a Sony fan boy go for the S...
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
Sony xperia s definately has a upper hand on s2.. I love s's interface as compared to s2. Besides s2 is an outdated phone even if its getting jellybean
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Screen resolution and camera and looks may be the main points for choosing XS over the SGSII

Anyone considering buying Nexus 4?

The Nexus 4's pricing has totally blown me away.. 300$ and 350$ for 8gb and 16gb respectively!
So, just out of curiosity I wanted to ask that is anyone up for buying this device?
Considering the high specs of this device and at such a pricing sounds a pretty good deal!
I will be buying it when it launches here in India?
Anyone else is considering to buy?

I for one have already decided to buy the Nexus 4, it's crazy cheap and the hardware is amazing.
I used to be a Sony fan as well, but after seeing some of the reviews of the Xperia T (and the practically non-existant and extremely overpriced Xperia V) I don't think staying Sony would be a good idea for me.
Besides, carrier subsidies here in Colombia are probably the worst in the world (phone prices get inflated to almost double) and the so called "subsidy" doesn't get higher than 10% of the phone's unlocked price.
Yes after reading some previews about the new nexus 4 my feelings get more and more stronger buying this phone.
Fabtatic hardware and specs and no more thinking about getting next android update.
The price is fantastic.

I think I will get the 16GB version... I was always loyal to Sony and their products but I think it's time to move on.
I always wanted a nexus phone because of the software updates! If I didn't like the Nexus 4 I would buy the Galaxy Nexus just because it's a nexus phone! But the Nexus 4 is AWESOME! It has state-of-the-art specs at a very competitive price! And even though play store isn't available in my country I will find a way to buy that thing!

I decided to buy the N4. But buying it from india would be a bad decision, they'll kill the price. For example, the ipad mini is at 330$ and priced at 29k, so obviously the 350$ beats is gonna cost more.
PLus for ll those guys going to buy Odin or all the expensive ****, especially by sony, if we had the money, even we'd buy the Note2 or something, lol.But definitely not a sony phone again. Enough of all the "beautiful" crap from sony.

[Feedback] {Opinion} Do you regret buying this phone?

I kinda regret it now. When buying, i was enticed by the specs and i thought: "this phine is awesome! No regrets buying it! Better than my laggy neo v!" now, the battery life is not good, its lagging now on jb moonbreaker 3.5. Kinda regret not choosing something better. Although we have awesome devs (thanks! ), i feel that the phone is a bit too overpriced for the specs, and taking on account that we don't have official support from roms like CyanogenMod, SlimBean, Paranoid Android etc. Just wanna hear your views here.

Why did I buy:banghead::banghead::banghead:
Sent from my Xperia U using xda app-developers app
When i bought this phone - I wanted one with a screen size around 4-4.3 inches.
I narrowed it down to the Xperia S, Xperia P & the HTC One S.
I played around with all three and narrowed it down to the Xperia P. The price difference for the Xperia S & the One S was too much to justify.
Although i expected more official CyanogenMod support - I understand the lack of NovaThor support is what's the reason behind it.
With CM10.1 by @percy_g2 - the phone finally runs as i expected it to - smooth as butter.
I'm perfectly good with the phone and don't see any need to upgrade either - so long as percy fixes Bluetooth
The battery seems to be the one crippling factor for this phone though - I have made a habit to keep a charger handy and I do get 3-4 hours of screen on time which isn't shabby at all.
Cheers,
Ray
Yeah sort of, the battery life is worse than I thought and the white magic isn't that special... next time i go Samsung or Nexus
i regret spending €140 on a phone that wont be provided with JB by Sony
Don't regret , in some time we will have a blast in dev selection with new roms , i just need build server access from xda .I have applied and waiting.
Development these days needs lots of bandwidth with good speed which i don't have .
Build server will help in fast development and more things will come  .

Locker bootloader? Lol, just unlock it! It's so easy!
No regret for buying Xperia U, Its runs great on gingerbread! On ICS its OK......
No regrets. I bought my Xperia U on day one for 199 euros, it was a best buy... Really GREAT performance on GB, worse on ICS, even a lot BETTER on JB (thank you kontini... You saved my phone!). Really sad the missed update to jb, sony is really bad to this... But i'll buy another sony because of fantastic design, and xperia are really easy moddable.
My next phone will be Sony Xperia Z, probably on november. I hope xD
Having mixed feelings about this phone, better rom support (=>availability of novathor sources) would have been nice.
But with cm10.1 it is a lot smoother than it used to be and battery life also has been a lot worse with stock.
I like the phones screen, I hate white magic, camera is decent, performance is not ideal.
This phone isn't bad, but could have been a lot better.
I don't regret buying this phone: The price wasn't bad and I won't make the same mistakes again.

I think that he meant he has a "unlock allowed = no" phone.
Coming from a Galaxy Ace-i, I'm completely satisfied Bought my white XU in February at €169, it was on sale, I hope it'll last a lot because I love it, the only "cons" are the quite small screen and the RAM problems on JB, but it's a great phone! Sony totally captured me, my next phone will be another Xperia :3
My classmate always tells me that my phone looks like a toy phone conpared to his Galaxy S4, but I reply that, at least, mine doesn't look like a plastic frying pan
I love my XU
