Google Voice MMS - HTC EVO 3D

I could be wrong but I think MMS is working across all carriers for google voice now. I've been receiving pics from people that normally couldn't send them to my GV because they didn't have Sprint for the past few days or so and didn't really think anything about it until today. Any of you tried it out lately? Easiest way to do it is to have your gv texts forwarded to your main text app and try to send/receive from there. This being the case I pretty much have no reason to even give out my real number anymore.

What I've found is that I if someone sends a mms to my gv number I will receive the txt part in the GV app and the image in the email I have linked to the GV account.
Pretty clever....

What! I need to check this out......
Edit:
CONFIRMED! I'm never giving out my real number again!

The only bad thing is that you can't send mms via GV, at least via the standard app but, having this feature is a good start.

try merging your sprint and gv account and then have gv forward all incoming to the stock messaging app. that way you are sending and received from stock mms.apk. that'll prolly do it.

You dont even need to merge the accounts...just have gv forward your texts to your normal sms inbox. I just do both out of go sms but both numbers are still seperate.

Hmmm doesnt seem to working for me unless there is a huge delay(pic sent about 10-15 mins ago)

Worked for me. I found out by accident. A friend that didn't know my number can't receive pics sent one and I was surprised when it came through.

Google voice

Van someone help me get rid of this dam Google voice. I have uninstalled it went online and unchecked it and still it takes my voicemails. I also tried *72 and nothing. Help help please.

Try setting it up again. Skip the integration, then pick your carrier when it prompts you where you want your vms
For getting Sprint VM to work again
Dial *38, wait for the beeps, then hang up.
Supposedly this works after uninstalling GV. If it does let us know please.
Try *720.

You may need to delete all numbers from GV. Then try putting a new number in. That was the only way I could get rid of GV integration,
I just went online and dis-associated my phone. It's worked twice so far. The only reason I keep Voice is personalized greetings for individuals and it saves my messages and call logs.

Voicemail ViperRez

I can not find any visual voicemail in the past two roms i have ran. i am on team venoms viperez rom now. when i get a voicemail it says in a txt to reinstall VM? i cant find it in the market? what do i do?
I believe Joel said he removed it because it wasn't working properly in the Rom.

Visual voicemail does not work on sense 4 Roms . Unless someone came up with a fix , but I haven't found it . Try phone fusion on the market .
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I got it to work by editing the build.prop and installing the thunderbolt visual vm app. I'd post here but XDA app won't let me upload to post.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Flash the .zip file from recovery and install vm.apk as regular app with any file explorer program.
Yeah, I just edited the build.prop line about visual voicemail, =false, and then installed a verizon VVM apk
Why not use Google Voice?

Every time someone asks about Verizon branded Visual Voicemail, most users say this. There are so many reasons I personally use VZW VVM. For one, I like having 2 separate VM inboxes, one is GV for my business calls, the other is VZW for my personal calls. Second, it's convenient. Third, I get it for free.
GV for voicemail is not an end-all solution.

I'm not sure if I want to thank you or not because now my options for roms to start flashing and playing with is a lot larger
Seriously thank you though.
Is there any reason that Joel wouldn't use this solution for his roms? Does it affect any other parts of the rom?
I don't use google voice, because for the 2 days that I tried it, over half of the missed calls gave the caller an error about not being able to connect (can't remember the exact verbage) and did not give them an option to leave a voicemail.
I use my phone for work, and I can't afford to deal with missing voicemails.

AT&T Forwarding question

Hey guys,
I have question regarding AT&T call forwarding. I know how to forward incoming calls on phone A to phone B, but my question is, can I forward outgoing calls from phone B to A also?
I have two AT&T phone numbers, but I don't wan't some people to know about my second phone number. Is there any way I can make phone calls on one phone, but make it appear like i'm calling from the other one?
I tried googling this like crazy, but I'm not even sure what the outgoing forwarding is called.
Thanks in advance

I actually still don't see an option to change the outgoing caller ID to my cellphone number.
Have you set up Google Voice to give you your own personalized phone number yet?

Yes, I've had my google voice number for about a year now. I have google voice set up on my phone for voice mail only.
From what I've read, what I'm trying to do is not possible.

No...you can't spoof it to show your "b" tele number.
It would have worked better with one att number and one Google voice number.
Unless there is an app that will do it.

I think they were suggesting you just get another Google Voice number to hide your real number. I'm guessing you can't use the same Google Voice number on multiple phones at the same time, but worth a try I suppose...

Blocking Texts

In the past, when I've blocked numbers through Sprint's 'My Device' preferences, the people I block that text me would get a quick text back from a 5 digit number stating that my phone isn't accepting text messages. That was when I was with any sense ROM, especially stock. With CM10.1 it does nothing. I'm assuming this is because it doesn't have the PRL Update, Profile Update, and Sprint Zone. Does anyone know if that is true? If that is true, before I give this a try myself, does anyone know if Sprint Zone is safe to run on an AOSP ROM? I'd assume not but at the same time I would think it would be alright. Or maybe Sprint just doesn't notify users anymore that another user isn't accepting text messages? Any help will be appreciated greatly.
Edit: I flashed MeanBean and that didn't seem to make a difference. Even with the service update immediately after making the changes. I'm at a loss here.

Try Mr. Number ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrnumber.blocker) I find it helpful for unknown numbers as well since users can leave comments about telemarketers and what not.

Use a black listing app from the play store or the feature inside the SMS menu if your ROM supports it

ive blocked numbers from them from my evo and i still get messages from those people on occasion, where as the blacklisting app blocked em for good.
i recc a blacklisting app over all else. But yeah you can do that from sprint.com or just give sprint customer service a call, and they will do it for you.

Huh. That's odd. Never had that problem with that. I know that customers can do that through Sprint.com. The problem isn't finding a way to block numbers. The problem is that when I use any block option on Sprint.com that anybody who texts me, who isn't in Sprint, won't receive a message stating that my phone isn't accepting messages. Even though Sprint reps say that all users on any carrier receive that message. But I didn't expect a Sprint rep to know what they're talking about.
For future reference to everyone: read the post before replying. Just an idea.
Thanks for the help.

Not Receiving Phone Calls

Running Viper, no kernels and no Google Voice used as a phone number, although I do have an account using GV, but just for texts. Anywho, calls are going straight to voicemail. I only get the VM notification icon to show someone called. I've wiped cache, etc., no change.
Any suggestion prior to wiping? No, the DTTM is not checked under call settings.

Google voice integration could have been messed up on server side. Maybe double check Google voice settings on phone and Google website, make a modification, save, modify back, save to see if that fixes the issue.
Also I had an issue last week where I was missing calls, vm not being pushed to visual voice mail (no vm notifications either), and texts were coming in hours late, not at all, or in bursts. But i could send text and make calls just fine. I updated my profile and prl with no luck. Eventually I had to call sprint for tech support for the first time in 14 years. They walked me through the process for doing a hands free first time activation on my phone and all my issues went away immediately.
Hope this helps
