I am posting my query here as I am a new user and not able to post under dev section.
Have been hearing a lot about cf-root from my friends.Tried googling it had no luck.
I am using xwks9 stock rom. Can we use cf-root on this rom? Can somebody please help. Link to the tutorial would help a lot.
Many thanks in advance.

A. See Quick guide to installing ROMs/kernels for newbies. If you just want to overclock, install just a kernel.
Q. How to root my official GB?
A. If you already have a custom recovery, then flash this zip. Then download busybox installer from the market and install busybox. If you don't have custom recovery, then follow the instructions here.

from your name I guess you are from India...
So try the steps in the following link...
DDQ6 for Galaxy Ace
Was it CWM4 or ROM manager?
ROM manager is a big no no for the Ace. Too be safe CWM4 needs to be a special mod for the Ace too.
Using ODIN you'll be flashing an entire ROM, imo you may as well go custom. I think TheMythICS ROM is the best!

Yup that's the correct one... hmm... let me see what I can come up with.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Okay. You went wrong with flashing CWM4 over Froyo. You need to use ODIN to flash CWM3 to get back.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
But you may as well update to Gingerbread while you'are there... takes just over 5 min. Have a look at some of the custom ROM's in the development section...

Then you can skip CWM3 because you'll get 4 or 5 with most ROMs.

I'm a newbie when it comes to Androids so I would need help on my Samsung galaxy Ace. I am running on 2.3.4 Android version and S5830DXKPD Baseband version. I'm planning on upgrading to 2.3.6. I have rooted it already. Anyone out there who can teach mo on how I can upgrade to 2.3.6 or send me a link to follow? And I'm afraid to get my phone bricked. Waiting for your replies. Thanks in advance!

I was looking for an easy method(alternative).. anyways thanks mate..cheers

There is no 'easy' method. You need to write a script which specifies which files in the zip get written to where. There are threads about same on here/elsewhere (search).
