I know, this post is not about gps or wifi issues...crazy, right? Anyway, has anyone tried HBO go on the prime to see if it works?

The HBO GO app doesn't work for me. Doesn't even let it install.

Huh. Won't install on either my Prime or my original Transformer. Never tried it before because Time Warner Cable still isn't supported. I'll have to look into this a little more, because I think that's going to change in early January...

Latest update seems to work on my friend's nook tablet...wonder why it wouldn't on the Prime. I'll have to play around with it once my prime replacement comes in next week.
How are you guys installing it? Market, web, side load apk?

I have been using HBOgo and MaxGo since day one. Not from the app, rather from within the browser. It works pretty good. Just make sure you have your browser user agent set to desktop.

that was funny. I'm in same boat. I have HBO go on my atrix and Ipad. I need it on Prime since it has best display and sound out of all of them. will be keeping an eye on this thread.
since we on subject of movies and t.v. , WHY IN DA HELL doesn't xfinity app for android allow you to watch movies like on my Ipad version? Ipad version let you watch free movies from them or even demand ones if you want to pay.

Haha trust me, I've been wondering he same thing over the last two days when I picked up an iPad 2. Downloaded the xfinity app to program the DVR and noticed you could stream.went to my OG TF to see if there was an update, but it was a bust. Disappointing .

Noticed a big difference watching HBO go in Dolphin vs stock browser. I did make the debug changes in the browser, and that seems to mess with video performance. Watching with dolphin is very smooth, but you need to be close to the router. At about 30 feet away the signal is not strong enough to support the video streaming and it starts to significantly downgrade the streaming resolution.

I don't think HBO Go is compatible with either Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich at this point.

As far as what? Playstation games? Its fine the controls Crash and Pinball work real well. If you mean regular android games they work great too
Performance is acceptable.
Gaming is decent. Comparable to other android tablets, however I feel as if gaming in general is slower compared to comparative models.
In my experience Ipad2 is better at gaming, tab 10.1 is better and Jetstream is better (which is surprising).
But overall... gaming is acceptable.
Can I connect a gaming controller to the Tablet S?

Okay. Im buying one when Ive had my Birthday

I connected my USB Adapter + Logitech Gamepad, works in the PS Games, Market games seem hit or miss.
To me this is a Tablet first, a simple device for browsing the web, reading emails and running simple small programs. Gaming is just a bonus, I find it fine for simple games but if it's a real concern you should be looking at a dedicated platform or a gaming PC.

Uhm guys... just noticed something weird - Maedhros, please let me know if this is the lag you mention:
Playing my youtube link on the sony tablet gets really laggy / skipping whole video sections if I play it in a Browser tab!
But then it works just fine if I choose to play it directly in the youtube app!
I haven't chosen a default app to play youtube videos yet, so there's a prompt for me choose...!
Can anyone else on 3.2 confirm this, please?

Man... there is litterally no reason to keep this tablet
Have had nothing but trouble with it.
Honestly, no reason at all to pick up this tablet over the Jetstream
I was disappointed by the Xperia phones and now by this tablet. Last time I purchase any Sony mobile devices.

This thread seems to indicate otherwise, as it is likely to have its fair share of issues as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281420
Regardless, the issue noted with youtube here derives from not using the proper tool, when available.
Either way, good luck with it, hope it works better than the Sony for you on all counts!

Dude you are literally staring to spam this board and thus starting to get annoying. If you got rid of your tablet S then great, bye bye. To say "Man... there is litterally no reason to keep this tablet " is beyond idiotic. It is general consensus that the Tablet is is easily one of the best Android tablets out right now. It is also arguably more functional, useful and robust that an iPad with its severely outdated OS. To mention the Jetstream is just an insult. Battery life is fine. The video playback issues you had are EASILY fixed by downloading a proper video player with a codec off the market. I was skeptical when purchasing this tablet but have had no "issues" at all with it that are not related to the bugginess of honeycomb. None.

Can somebody convince me to buy a Google TV?

Greetings, I want a Google tv for my tv really bad. I'm very torn however... I'm unsure if I should wait till the next gen box's come out? ICS is coming to the Logitech Revue I believe.. I really just don't want to buy a box and then the next day the next gen stuff comes out with features like "airplay for androids" (not literal but a feature similar). I think it will be more convenient than plugging my laptop into my tv all the time. or my soon to be tablet (the transformer prime ) What are my fellow android user's thoughts on this?
I was I your same boat. I had a ps3 only used it for blu rays so i sold it and bought the Sony Google TV. V1 was cluncky imo. But I feel V2 is great once more development gets going it will be a lot better. Its not 100% polished but I think its worth it.

Awesome, curious, is there an Airplay like feature? I'm getting ready to buy the Transformer Prime, it'd be really nifty to just wirelessly stream my movies and games.

Yes, I have Plex Media Server running and then stream it to my Google TV.. I've had it for about 4-5 months now and I just got the official Honeycomb release.. I was on the hacked version which was good but not fully baked.
The official release works well and I think we will start seeing many more apps developed for GTV...
I am waiting for a DVR app so I can use my external HD as a DVR through GTV...
I actually think for $99 you cant go wrong. I dont think the second gen isnt coming out until next summer and this works just fine.. I use Netflix, Plex, twitter and I actually find myself using HBO GO a lot more than I thought I would. It has all episodes on there.
The quality is 1080p and finding shows is a breeze because it searches based on your cable operator.
I like it and its the best $100 i spent...
Go for it, you wont regret it.
awesome, I think I will, hopefully I'll see a sale after Christmas. however I don't think it will matter, all my Christmas money will be burning a hole in my pocket
I will say if you need a blu ray player just add that extra 80 I have seen the Sony set top boxes with the blu ray for 180 on amazon.

Do you have ICS?
nVidia showed Splashtop at the CES Keynote and played Skyrim in Full-screen...
Maybe you should give the market app a try.
even on Wifi there is a 2 second lag....
So hope your playing a RPG like Final Fantasy because the lag would kill you otherwise
Even Skyrim was unplayable.. he could move around but couldn't kill anything due to lag nor move the camera so he was facing the SKY
you could maybe stream a movie but if you going thru all this hassel just download to your SD card and call it a day or get Netflix, Amazon Prime etc etc

I don't think Splashtop THD is the same as the Splashtop HD that's included in My Cloud. (and word of advise, if you're a Transformer user, avoid the $9.99 Splashtop HD version on the Android Market as it's the same versioin as what's included on My Cloud),
there's not enough info yet on Splashtop THD except that's it's been showcase at CES this past week.

The official article isn't very clear about a separate version actually being released? Makes it sound like the usual version will just have improved functionality. At the end of the day it just needs to be updated to allow applications to run that require 'direct screen access'... I wonder if Mycloud will automatically update it's app.
Wow I feel like an idiot for spending £5 on Splashtop HD. Though I read Splashtop can remote desktop your pc from anywhere but my cloud can only do it on the same wifi network?
No matter.
I find I can run games provided they are in windowed mode. Football manager 2012 was easily playable including the fast match engine.
I havent tried anything like FIFA or GTA (especially as I have icenhancer) but when I get a free day I'll give it a shot.
If you're playing turned based games I think it works fine but you probably won't have the reflexes to play COD/BF3 especially against online opponents. You should also consider that anything like teamspeak or steam etc wont work because your microphone on the prime isnt the one used to speak to others.
I can stream VLC movies quite happily and dont notice any lag. Though if it drops out it immediately plays on my PC downstairs which, when it has the sound turned on...scares the living daylights out of anyone who is downstairs.
I wouldn't advise streaming pron in this manner. Accidents happen.

Anyone tried using remote desktop to play action role playing games like Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Diablo etc.? How about when using an emulator on the pc?
I'm not sure if this is old news or not, but the Skyrim demo at CES had a USB XBOX 360 controller connected to the prime dock. The Nvidia rep said that they preloaded all major USB controller drivers onto the prime.
anyone having problems with the built in splashtop app? It used to work perfectly, but recently started disconnecting randomly and i cant get it to stay connected for longer than 5 minutes.
Have you verified that both devices are NOT dropping network connectivity?

[Q] Slingplayer for Tablet

Has anyone tried out the slingplayer for tablet app? The cracked one I had for my phone doesn't work on the tablet. I'm debating on shelling out the 30 bucks for the tablet version, but it's had some mixed reviews on the Android Market.
I've been using it without any issues so far.
I originally thought I had an issue because it would only show standard quality, and wouldn't go to high quality at all. But I found out my router dropped the port forwarding for some reason. Once that was corrected the HQ showed back up on first reconnect and all is good.

Are you running ICS? Which slingbox are you using?
I have the Dish Remote Access tablet app for streaming live TV and DVR content and it works great. One of the perks of being a dish customer I guess... I got the SlingBox for free and the app is free.
I have a Slingbox Solo. Some people on android market said it didn't work with certain models or firmware on certain models. Some also complained that it didn't work on ICS.
I just can't believe they charge 30 bucks for that app and if you want it on your phone, that's another 30 bucks. I know you can't use the web plugin on the Prime... also lame. However, I guess it's working for them because I'm still planning on getting it. One of the key reasons I bought a tablet to begin with.
I use the dish version and it works good

Im using the Slingplayer for phones app on my Prime running ICS and haven't had any problems with it. I originally paid 30 bucks for it back on my EVO 4G and have used it on every device since then. It installs automatically as soon as I log in with my google account. Hell I didnt even know there was a Tablet version.

I'm on ICS, and I've got the Slingbox Pro-HD.
Used the phone version for a few days, then switched to the tablet version. Only downside, is they overcharge for the app by at least 20 bucks.
The version I have for the phone doesn't even work on the tablet. It installs, but it won't launch. Granted it is an older version that was cracked... I was still surprised it doesn't work at all.
Oh well... looks like I will probably pay for the tablet version. Thanks for the input everyone!

The tablet version is supposed to have some HD functionality on it that the phone version doesn't have. Some of the reviews say it was way better picture quality than using the phone version on the tablet.

I purchased the Slingbox client, it "does" have the HQ feature. It also works on ICS.
Decided to purchase it last night. Picture is good on the Prime with ICS. It lacks the quick controls for the DVR like the phone app. Hopefully, they will improve the UI a bit.

Hello. I've got a Slingbox that won't stream HQ in the Android App, just like you.
I've checked my port forwarding and everything looks in order. How do you know that the Forwarding has been dropped and how did you fix it?

[Q] couple of questions.

1.i already have an xperia play and we have 2 laptops at home as well as a desktop pc so would any of you think that it would be suitable for me to buy this eeepad?
2. should i rather wait for the eepad transformer prime infinity 4g/3g? is it significantly better?
3. Similar to other android devices, does this require unlocking/rooting to enhance the experience or is it sufficient enough out of the box?
4. can this replace a laptop? As in, work in the same way, allow me to use msn and access websites with ease (and speed)?
5.would it be possible to use my xperia play's gamepad whilst playing the game on the transformer prime?
6. would i be better off waiting for a windows tablet? they look gooood.
Thanks

There is a lot of opinion being asked here. But here is my opinion.
1) I have a beast of a laptop that acts mostly as a desktop. I have a desktop at work. I have a Droid Bionic. I have a Vita and 3DS. But I still find the Transformer Prime has it's specific uses. This will vary wildly from person to person. I don't think I would be any worse off for not having the Prime, but I do like having it.
2) I don't want to pay for another data plan, so I wouldn't wait for a 3g/4g one. Now the 1080p one, maybe I would wait for that. You know, if you're into waiting.
3) I have mine rooted, but other than that it's stock. There is a bootloader unlock too, although it still leaves a tiny but locked. I find the speed is fine, but unlocking/rooting can give features, not just speed.
4) Yes you can do most web browsing, including web-mail and even some flash sites. But to be honest, the experience is still just not up to par with a laptop. The browser is pretty good, but not quite chrome. The office apps are usable, but nowhere near as nice as MS Office. Video/music apps, ok those are mostly better than desktop ones. But really, it's not a laptop. Now, if you don't need a laptop, then great. I mean, I use my prime at school instead of a laptop and I'm a computer science master's student.
5) Probably not. At least not easily. You can however plug in an xbox 360 or ps3 controller if you have the keyboard dock or the special usb adapter.
6) Windows 8 on ARM is looking pretty promising, but once again, do you like waiting?
All in all, if you really feel you need a tablet right now and you have disposable income, then just buy one. Pick a tegra 3 you like and go with it. I like my prime despite some of the problems. But if you are iffy, then it's probably not a good time to buy one. Wait until you absolutely feel have to have one. Wait until you find something that excites you. Don't just buy one because everyone else is.

Thanks a lot, I'm not too picky but just wanted one as a laptop substitute kind of thing which would replace the need for a laptop. I don't use a laptop for much with the exception of the occasional word document, going on to MSN and some casual browsing (albeit with many tabs). Is it suitable in this case?

Yessir. It's great for casual browsing, emailing, etc. The dock is phenomenal. Lasts longer than my laptop too, unless I use super super power saving mode.
Just an FYI, this should have been posted in the Q/A section of the prime forum.

Not really. Its only really limitations due to the android ecosystem if anything. If casual browsing and emailing is your main concern, this will be great.

How does MSN work on the prime though? I mean, doesn't it only handle one application at once? And please tell me what could make it better than a laptop . Thanks again

Honestly, it works fine. And yes, like any tablet, it really only runs one application at a time but you can have many more open in the background and switch back and forth. That's really easy.
As for making it better than a laptop, there's no answer to this question. Pick one up, try it out, and see if it works for you.

It's no laptop nor will it ever be a laptop it's a tablet. Just like an iPad galaxy tab or any other tablet. That being said it's an awesome tablet and took the place in many ways of my laptop.
If u buy one save the receipt. If you don't like it or it's not right for you take it back.
Thanks for the help guys

I know I'm bringing back a dead thread but I have some more questions.
1. Do you think tegra 3 will become dated quite soon ( due to the new chip in iPad3)
2. Whicy type of websites cant I go on?
3. Do you think it's copable and sufficient to be using it as a laptop but only being able to do one thing at a time?
4. When does the infinity release? Will the prime receive a price drop after this?
Thanks

1. no, the tegra 3 > a5x. the a5x is an enhanced dual core. teh ipad's strength is in the quad core GPU. Tegra 3 is solid and is only in one tablet so far that has been released. It's got a solid future!
2. Ummmm, java or flash heavy sites would be tough ,but dif browsers have dif strengths and weaknesses. I can't really say which sites don't work, try it out!
3. Yes, it's cut down on my procrastination and distractions 10-fold. Really this is person specific and depends on waht you need it for. some things are easier on the laptop but this is truly specific to the tasks you do on it.
4. Probably sometime in the late spring early summer. Maybe in June? As for hte price drop, ask Asus...no one knows for sure.

Thanks again.
Is it possible to play flash games?
Is there any other factor which hinders it from being on par with a laptop?

Seriously, man. You're asking so many questions that are specific to you and your wants. Android has limitations. Flash games are nearly impossible to play on any tablet.
As for the second questions, you really just need to try it out for yourself. Ie I can't do professional video editing on here. I can't use a USB TV tuner to watch TV on here. These limitations are specific to me.
I don't mind helping you and answering your questions, but your questions can best be answered by buying the prime from somewhere that has a good (ie 30 day) return policy. Keep the receipt and return it if it doesn't work for you.
I'm sorry I can't help more, but you should really just go for it. I'm in love with my prime as are most of the people here. Give it a go!
Good luck

I aim to make this my last question, why did YOU buy the transformer prime? Was it just the cool factor? Why not get a notebook/laptop instead? Do you regret the purchase? This question is open to everyone.
