I have had the prime since last Tuesday and really like using it. The one thing I wish I would've known is that the metal backing definitely gets scratched. I haven't done anything outlandish with it, other than carry it in my bag (which I still can't find exactly what scratched it). When the light hits the back a certain way, it almost looks like a car that's been keyed. So my advice to everyone would be invest in some kind of pouch to travel with, or just have a towel to wrap it in if carrying it in a bag with other things.
The screen doesn't have any scratches just as an aside.

This is why I told everyone to get a protector for the rear panel. The Skinomi will do the job. Also, to be on the safe side even with the Gorilla Glass, I'll be protecting the front. Then I can throw it in my laptop bag with no worries.
Lol. Aluminum backing is destroying GPS & WiFi performance.. AND it gets scratched easily. ASUS is not faring to well with this design decision. Someone head is getting lopped off for this. Whoever made the final decisions on this tablet is allowing this thing to tarnish their overall reputation.
Y’all are going to think I am crazy, but I have left the plastic sleeve it came in on my Prime until I can get a proper cover. It makes a perfectly suitable cover – it is clear, it adds grip, and it doesn’t get scratched.
SO – if you’ve not thrown your boxing away, using that as a cover is an option, it may be crazy but it works

I saw their CEO speak at a conference. He's an ego maniac. I'd guess he said "and it should be metal to be more stylish" and the rest as we say is history. But since it can't possibly be his fault there will be human sacrifices from further down the food chain. But hey, people told the Wright brother's they'd never be able to fly.
Meanwhile I don't have even one scratch on my plastic back of TF101 (but some scratches on the Gorilla Glass). The alluminium back was a really bad decision by Asus.

I have been using a cheap ebay soft silicon case since I got my x10
and so far, it's been GREAT! except for the aesthetic part....
it's ugly as hell on my phone..
but i'm so clumsy and i've dropped my phone so many times, on carpets, on pavement, on stairs, etc. and still nothing's broken, and there's not even a crack or a scratch..
i've never used a hard case before.. and i was wondering how they are like.. in terms of 'protecting the phone'
i'm kind of worried that when i put a hard case on and drop it by mistake, the case will come off (kinda like when you sometimes drop your cheap cell phones, the battery comes off)
or that it won't be as protective as my current silicon case...
i have a sensuous white phone.. and i'm looking at these cases

and
the first one protects the front as well, but the second one looks prettier..(imo)
if anyone owns above cases, please let me know what they are like and also whether i should go for the back cover or full hard case..
thank you!!
also, what colour should i go for? i'm leaning towards red on white..
but i also like pink-white, or white-white..

I've dropped it on concrete with this on and not a problem. Aluminium on the outside, rubber on the inside with a rubber lip to hold the phone in place. Nice and snug.
Haha! The BACK case has the wrong cutting for the camera xD
i use a capdase soft jacket 2,and it is great.

um i think those are the holes for speakers lol
well i'm just wondering if anyones used them and if they have.. how they are in terms of protection...
i drop my phone a lot so i need a sturdy case
How about you stop being clumsy idiots and not drop your phone or just not buy good things.
I bought a black rubberized hard case just like the pink one you mentioned. It looks good in the pictures, but I really didn't like it. It ended up making the phone bulky, and the build quality was not perfect where one side was not finished completely and felt rough to the touch.
I then went with a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) case instead, and I've been very satisfied with it. TPU plastic doesn't have that stickiness of silicone but is thin and flexible enough to keep the X10's shape. On eBay there are different colors to choose from and they seem to come with and without patterns. Just do a search for 'xperia x10 tpu'. I got a no-pattern smoke colored one for a few dollars (USD) with free shipping, and I think it's great.

I've had my ultraslim for about 5 days now and had a pm from a member here regarding it, so figured I'd post a few pics and a mini review. First off, good customer service. About a week and a half went by after I ordered and I had not received my case yet (I'm in PA, they're in CA i believe). I called up and the rep said it appeared it might've gotten lost by usps due to the tracking not being updated. No questions asked he sent me another via Fedex priority and I had it two days later.
Pics and then a bit more info:

First, I definitely like this case. With the size of the note, I was way too hesitant to drop good money on something that would make it any bigger. I've never used a pouch for a phone before but I'm liking this. White on white looks great too, to me. Have had some compliments on it already.
Fit: I received my case literally as I was going out the door to go to the gym. As I immediately noticed that my phone kept rebooting every time I put the phone in the case, and when it was on, the volume kept changing. I realized the inner seams were pressing up against the buttons. I was very upset at first, and then realized I just had to put it in a bit crooked so the seams run along the edge of the buttons rather than on them, not a big deal. Took about a few days for my case to start breaking in and now the note fits snugly but easily pulls in and out of the case. Also note that the case has kind of formed to the 'crooked' way that I put the note in. It's not like I need to make sure I'm avoiding the seams when I put the phone in, it just slides in exactly how I want it to now.
I rock my note upside down in the case, since I have BLN on. All I have to do is lift up the top flap a bit and I can see if I have notifications.
Protection: Obviously it'll keep away scratches. Drop protection... it really is thin. However, I'd be fairly confident that on a regular drop, the case would save it. It's basically just a thin layer of leather, but I think it's enough to absorb the shock. It's like the difference between the metal cased iphones and plastic phones... just a little bit makes a difference. That said, I'm not going to test it. But it really does add essentially no noticeable bulk or weight, and gives you a better grip when removing it from your pocket.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Very classy looking, thanks for the share.
nice pocket. where did you buy it?
bought it direct from them through their website.
What was the price? Do you think it would fit with an elago slim fit case? White looks so sexy on this phone..

$35. And I don't quite understand your question... See you asking if your phone with case attached will fit in the pouch? No.. It's designed to perfectly fit the phone. Then again I don't know how thick your case is but I highly doubt it and aren't sure why you'd use both

After having a see-through PTU case since day one, I rarely take the case off. Recently I have been using the Note with a digital amplifier to listen to music. Since the cutout on the case doesn't fit the 3.5 mm input, I have been taken the case off. I immediately noticed how sexy the Note is in it's complete naked state with the vivid capacitative button lit.
I suggest you do the same to yours if you are not already. Just not in public .
Mine has been in its birthday suit since its initial unboxing. It definitely is a nice looking phone. Although the materials are primarily plastic, it still feels premium. No creaking on this guy.

Sexy profile is why I'm also keeping mine nude but the phone is way too big to avoid some kind of bumping especially when I'm in my car.
I dropped my note couple of times already but I've been very lucky so far...
It really hurts my feeling when what I mentioned above happens... It worries me every time.
I've grown very attached to this phone. I think im at least getting a bumper case. The phone won't look so sexy with a cracked screen or bruised corners.

I know it aint cheap but for about $50, the otterbox defender case is the best *insurance* and piece of mind, money can buy imo.

Thread Cleaned
I know its just a bit of fun, but it could offend someone. Lets keep it clean now people
this is why i use a slim SLIM case on my note, doesnt really add anything or take anything away from it and all ports are super accessible.
Looking for a great slim case
I know the Otter Box Defender offers ultimate protection on the go but it's also hideously ugly and makes the device untenable for pocket use. I have no intentions of carrying it on my hip so I need something slim that offers some protection without detracting significantly from the beauty of the device. Has anyone tried different cases and found one that they love that sort of fit the aforementioned criteria?
BTW, currently I have a black Trident case on it which adds some bulk and size. It's still pocketable but it covers up the entire phone with a raised border around the screen for some protection. All that black is covering up my beautiful white though (except for the face). I'll be taking it back but I don't want to go unprotected. Ummmm...well, you know what I mean.
I wasn't sure where to put this, but since it involves a case, I figured the Accessories forum was a safe bet. Like most folks who pre-ordered from Sprint, I received a free case as a little thank you for being patient....even though I wasn't. After a few weeks, my only complaint is that the case is very slick and I've had a couple of close calls when trying to get it out of my pocket and answer a call while in a hurry. I remember seeing someone mention a product called PlastiDip, which is a spray-on coating designed to add texture and some degree of weather protection. I found a can at the local hardware store, slapped some masking tape on the edges of the free case and this is the result.
Here it is with just the tape.

This is after 4 medium coats of PlastiDip with 30 minutes between coats.
And here it is after scoring along the tape with a razor blade and then removing the tape.
I'm not sure how long it will hold up, but it really added a nice grippable feel to the case. Don't look too close or you'll see that I didn't apply the tape parallel to the edge of the case. I also didn't do a really good job of scoring along the edge of the tape. However, the case was free and the spray was only around $6 so I don't have a whole lot invested. If anyone else has similar problems holding on to their phone, this might be an option to consider.
For reference, this is the stuff.
Nice work, thanks for sharing it!
Just a fyi the oils from fingers will start to peal the edges off. Good idea though
Dude plasti dip is the ****! I've done various car trim items in that stuff, it's incredible. Excellent idea, I'll try this if I get a case.
wow great idea, i got a few cans sitting at home
How about using grip tape? I always have leftovers from my skateboard decks.
About Plasti-Dip, spray from a further distance for more "grit". The closer you spray the smoother it'll look.
What about maybe painting with RTV? It seems like that might be cheaper as well as more durable.
My issue would be peeling over time, though it's so simple you might as well just keep reapplying it, nothing will beat it in terms of grip.
Pine tar....

Out of curiosity... How long did this hold up? I sprayed my nexus s 4g awhile back and it lasted a little more than a month. I am wondering if others had better success. I probably didn't do the best job.
I've been a minimalist case user for years, I think going back to the samsung galaxy s3. I am very OCD with my phones and treat it like a baby. So I always go with a minimalist case because I don't like the bulk.
on the s7 i actually tried a dbrand (carbon) because the phone looks so good I didn't want to hide it, unfortunately this didn't help make the phone any less slippery. It may have actually made it more slippery because the glass actually gives friction and the aluminum sides aren't covered with the skin so VERY slippery.
So anyway i went with the spigen Thin Fit case. This is similar to the cases I usually have used over the years.
Yesterday as I was sitting down, the phone took a slight (1 foot) slip/fall and sort of skidded. I honestly don't remember if it landed on the face or back but after i picked it up i immediately saw the screen was ok, and the dbrand skin is still on the back (so honestly don't know if it's cracked). but it did take a pretty decent nick out of the aluminum on the lower right corner. If you look close you can see the case was actually damaged a little too.
I think the case is great for what it is. Honestly if it would have covered the entire bottom (which would make it more comfortable in the hand) then it would have protected the phone in this slight drop.
Just wanted to let you guys know, that we can all drop phones, and you may want to make sure all edges are covered because TBH i can't believe the phone was damaged this bad from such a slight fall.
I am ordering something that covers all edges to prevent further incidents like this (and to cover this so I can stop looking at it every 5 mins )

try the neo hybrid. I love it. spigen stuff is great. they were on sale last week so I got a tough armor and neo and love the neo. love the rugged armor TPU and I've got a slim fit that's great too. I've pretty much got all their stuff lol

Looks like it just happened to land perfectly on that corner. I too wish they had gone all the way around with the case but I know what I'm getting myself into by running this case.
I switched away from Spigen's Thin Fit awhile back when I found out that Ringke makes a very similar case (might even be thinner), but covers all the sides. It's slightly harder to take the case off, but not impossible. You might want to check it out. Ringke Snug-Fit on Amazon.
hmm i have this case and thinking about getting something that covers the whole frame now...ill most likely get the cali case once they ship to canada...
Go with tech21, they are thin and provide excellent drop protection, I've dropped mine on concrete several times and nothing has happened.
