Yes, it works for me. I just opened it, signed in, and flipped through an issue of WebMD. Got mine from the same place.

Anyone have Zinio force close on them and then fix it somehow?

I for the life of me have not been able to get Zinio to work for me either. Press reader works fine. But I really want the magazine app since moving from stock. Would also like to know how you guys got it working.
EDIT: I think it depends on what versions you're using. I finally got it to work. Instead of installing "ReadingHub", I installed "ReadersHub" with the zinio from the link you posted. And it's working finally. Check it out. Tell me if it works for you or not.

New version from G2x posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051812
http://www.2shared.com/file/vN9kCbWw/ZinioReaderRegular.html
I installed it and can open it but can't login. I created an account at zinio.com but it still won't let me log in via this new app.
It says "Warning: Network connection is unstable, do you want to retry or use the application in off-line mode?"
The network connection is fine.
- Retry just results in the above message again.
- And off-line mode just results in "Your username or password were incorrect. Please try again."
Anyone get the G2x version working?

Better than last time, as the News app works now but the others are not lit up and clicking on them gives a "Service will be available soon".
I made sure to install all 3 apps, and even installed Zinio twice after seeing this error.
Any ideas?

A tiny bit farther now.
The Magazines app is highlighted, I can launch it, I can log in, and then it FCs. Without even pressing Force Close, the app re-launches, logs in, and FCs, continuously over and over.

I was having that same issue. Only other suggestion I have is to install both versions of readers hub and zinio. They shouldn't overwrite each other. Then try launching zinio from Readers Hub. Not Reading Hub. See if that works.

I have both versions of Reading Hub installed (two entries in my app tray) and two version of Zinio.
Unfortunately, the first still force closes immediately on tap of Zinio and the other force closes after launching Zinio and then attempting to log in.
Paul,
I just installed the new version from G2x. In the G2x thread they have also extracted a settings APK which also needs to be installed. It is contained in the second page of their thread.
I installed both APKs and it finally worked perfectly. I am using the latest nightly of CM7, and having a magazine reader makes it a perfect tablet

Yeah booooooyyyy!!!!!
Thanks a bunch for that. I really had no need for ReadersHub. I use the Nook app for my books. Happy to just have the Zinio app working! Finally I can get magazines without the stock reader... Now only if we can get a "Read To Me Books" app, then I can do away with stock completely!!!
Thanks again kind sir,

Word. Yo Paul2000 please update your thread to let other people know we have a working magazine subscription app. Its something alot of people have been after since moving from stock to alternate roms. Change title and update OP with the working apk's. And thanks for posting this so that it could be resolved.

I am a big Google Voice user and noticed that the Market wouldn't let me download it for the 10.1.
I snagged this from over at AndroidCentral so I can't take any credit but I figured I would toss it here for anyone who wanted GV on their tab.
Its taken from the Xoom but I am running it on my rooted 10.1 without issue. Enjoy.
When i try to download it on my tablet it just says cannot Open?

you can use something like androzip or basically anything that lets you look into the sd card (or the fake one the tab tells you it has) so you can locate the apk file you downloaded
Works here.
I had previously tried another Voice version (forget from where) without sucess.
FWIW, I emailed the apk - from the first post here - to my gmail account (as an attachment of course.)
When I openen the email on my Retail:Rooted device, "Install" (not "Download") was the option for the attachment.
Agreed to access...and it installed over whatever was there.
Looks the just the same as on my Galaxy GT-I9000 phone. (But 10.1 size )

Download astro or any other filemanager, and then just find where the apk was downloaded. If you try and open it through astro, it will ask to take you to the app manager, where you can install it.
I have installed plenty of apps straight from the browser.
Just make sure you have the option to allow unknown sources to be installed selected, under settings, applications.
Newer Version
I uploaded the latest version of GV in a different thread. It is easier on the battery.

My guess is that the one labeled Xoom actually came from a phone as well. It may have been modified to work on Honeycomb but that is only a guess. I do know that there isn't a downloadable version of Google Voice for any Honeycomb tablet. The version I posted is a later release (bug fixes and better battery usage) and required no modification to work.
I've had no issues with the one I posted and it is easy on the battery. Add GrooVe IP and you can do voice calls as well.
Hope that helps,
Andy
Thank you, I now have a giant slab of a phone. Awesome!
After the Honeycomb 3.2 ROM versions were leaked, a lot of people were disappointed that the Ebook reader did not work anymore on the customized ROMs. It was the same for my own custom ROM, the Ganbarou V0.4.
I played around a little bit and could finally get the Ebook reader to work. And even better, it is no longer a system application that you need to flash with the CWM recovery. Now you can just install the application as a normal user application.
To install the ebook reader, download the ebook.apk from my apps section. Copy the file to your tablet. Open your file manager on the tablet, and double click on the ebook.apk file to install it.
But I have to say, I am a little bit disappointed, because the Ebook reader has problems with the German fonts. See on the screenshots on my website post.
Download as usual from the apps section of my website or direct from this post. MD5 checksum is 9db1d18b8013e02deeaaeb1da2f0ca84 for the apk file and d1127f7c6bf9704e57f33d7fbd0edefc for the ZIP file.

You need to remove the (not working) ebook.apk from the systems/app folder before you can install this version. You can remove it either from the original ROM ZIP file and then flash this changed ROM again (no data loss usually) or use e.g. ROOT-EXPLORER to delete the ebook.apk.

the Sammy's eBook app crashes on me all the time (SGT 10.1). It is slow and is not as smooth as the Ipad2's ibook. When I flick through the pages, after a while it would freeze up and revert back to the library screen. It is very frustrating. If Sammy wants to beat Apple, they need to step up their game!

That's why I prefer Aldiko. Free from the market, smooth, and with Aldiko Sync I can even read the same book on my phone or on my tablet.

I checked your app on Overcome 10.1 series 230 ROM, and have some problems with "polish characters" displayed as squares. Well it seems that we are missing some part of this reader. Too bad cuz I find this reader as best one.
Hope some day You find the way to fix it.

But there are awful shadows on top right part of the screen while sliding.
I think this problem not hard to fix... but how
Hello everyone, came across this thread while looking for the Ebook.apk
Now, I have the Sammy Tablet 10.1, which I just installed the ICS, it's a two edged sword, I lost swype and the worst was loosing Ebook.
Now, I've installed the apk that BeeGee posted, which, does work, but...
If I try to import a book or pdf, it crashes
If I open a pdf from file manager, it imports it, but it it doesn't 'show' the pages. I can even highlight, but I don't know what I'm highlighting, lol.
Is there a build for the ICS. I'm considering going back to the Gingerbread, just to get the Ebook back, I loved it.
Any help would be rewarded with cake.
I believe that the ebook app required components from the touchwiz file manager, which was why import funxtion does not work.
I wonder if there is a work around.

Yeah the browser is working here for me too. Can't say I like it though, but it works.
Any reasons as to why it wouldn't install on my Touchpad? It says application not installed. But it was fine with the first version. However it was giving FC as to eveyone else. Maybe it's signed incorrectly?
One of two reasons : Either its signed incorrectly or not signed at all or there is a previous version existing.
Worked here also after following the steps in the first post of that topic.
TBH though, I'm not impressed at all. Boat Browser still beats it for me on the TouchPad.
@ puneet_champ
But I don't get what can be wrong as others managed to install it on their Touchpads. As you found the solution for the FC maybe you can have a look as to why the application refuses to install? thanx!
Edit: Nevermind. Managed to install it. Cleared everything and did all over again but this time didn't change the permissions and it worked. Thanx for nice work just one thing that I noticed. Even if you choose to use desktop mode in the settings it still gives mobile websites e.g. there's no way to have Vimeo in Desktop mode
Make sure to follow the directions fully. Set permissions correctly and REBOOT

This is by miles the best ebook app on Android, presentation wise at least. It replicates the sensation of reading a real book rather well. No other ebook readers on Google Play can even hold a candle to Samsung's in-house ebook reader.
we should give out a rewards if anyone make it work without stock ICS ROM or TW. What I meant if running pure ICS ROM (CM9) or JB.
so far it does installs, but always crashes when you tried import.
It is not bad but it is not my preferred reader app. There is no way to disable page flip animations. There is no way to set a default font size. The minimum font size is too large for my liking.

The simple answer is No. You need to use Samsung stock ICS or with Touch Wiz. the book reader needs Samsung's frame work

Technically this is correct and incorrect.
The app itself will work but you need Samsung's MyFiles app to import books into the ebook app, which runs off the TouchWizUX framework.
If somebody could find a way to get MyFiles to work outside TouchWiz, then in theory it should work perfectly.
Thanks for the link, i will try this
Is it even possible to install this on a galaxy s3 non-rooted? And if yes, somebody could explain? Thanks in afvancd

Here is a page describing how to remove the dependencies on TouchWiz: Link
I would try it but I've tried many times to decompile and recompile ICS apps with no success.
My advice to anyone is to get My Files working out of touchwiz, then ebooks would work by default.
This app works on my nexus 7 running non touchwiz framework.tho clicking on import causes it to crash
It's possible to use ebook without touchwizz fw.
Import does not work but if you open the epub file with a file browser, it does not crash.
