[Q] Root 3.2 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA people!!!
i recently broke my Asus Transformer, so replace it i bought a Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi.
I was trying to find a way to root the 3.2 update, and was unable to do so can some find me a link to a guide or video, explain to how to??

It's the first post in the dev section. BTW- you don't "root the 3.2 update," you root the tablet.

Are you sure it compatible with the 3.2 update??

Root
I was on 3.2 and it rooted fine for me. I flashed cwm 5.0.2.7 instead of the cwm included in the "how to root" thread but that shouldnt affect if you get root.

You can try to search around Google or xda or even YouTube there are countless guides that will get you rooted with a custom clockwork mod revcovery in minutes. You can start with one of these threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Both of these will work fine on 3.2

or you can simply flash clockwork mod and a prerooted rom

[Q] Do i need to Root before Installing a custom rom (vegan-tab)?

Hello everyone, My friend recently gave me his G Tablet to "update" it. I've read most of the guides and have a good idea on what needs to be done. I am currently on stock rom 1.1. I was just wondering before i backup my rom with NVFlash and install CWM, do i need to Root my device first ? I went through that gtablet for dummies site and it does not mention anything about rooting the tablet. I intend to install vegan tab 7.1.0. Does the rom come pre-rooted or will i need root the device first before running nvflash and installing cwm ?
Also im looking for a stable rom. Is vegan-tab stable enough or should i be looking at another rom? remember i am on bootloader 1.1
No need to root before installing a new Rom. The new rom will give you root access. Vegan seems to be a favorite for stability. Not sure if the most recent update has a version for the 1.1 bootloader though. This site will walk you through everything you need to know http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/

The boot loader issue had been debated at some length in the past.
Some dev (roebeet) pushed for development into 1.2 - some stayed with 1.1
Either way, there are some roms for both.
You should learn NV flash and try out a few and see what works for you.
HC flashback 10.3 is slick and nice.
Beasty/clem ultimate is very fast and stable.
On a side note, ICS is in development pending kernel work. It will be on a 1.2 BL base...fwiw

ICS on Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 problems

Hi
I recently read the instructions on how to update to ics at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322059.
I managed to root my device and install rom manager/clockwork mod. However,I am on 3e and I am apparently supposed to get 2e to install unsigned zip files? I found answers saying I should use Odin to flash speedmod but when I try the program just freezes. Ive tried multiple versions and different kernels. All I want to do is to be able to install ICS Aplha 3 on my galaxy tab.
If anyone can post detailed instructions on how to proceed,it would be very much appreciated.

[Q] Help - CMW install for YP-G1 Gingerbreak firm 2.3.5

I have searched around not able to find anything really on how to install CMW to this device. Is there anything official for the YP-G1? If there is, can you give me a link to a tutorial on how to install it on this device? I have had it for a day so I do not know much about it.
-thanks
If you mean CWM not CMW, to put on GingerBread not GingerBreak then root your player and flash any custom kernel for the 4.0 (just make sure its for your region) and boom you have ClockWorkMod.
Thanks! And yea, many unnoticed typos.... I even read over it :/

note root problems 4.0

alright so after searching both here and various other sites on this question i have found nothing very helpfull...
so at the risk of being told i need to search i have to ask. I have a ATT Galaxy note I717. I did get the OTA update to 4.0. I have not yet rooted my phone but im trying to do so. Mostly so i can flash t-mobile onto it for it work properly with my 4G.
So my question is. Were is the root process for a note that already has 4.0.
I followed other instructions here http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-sgh-i717-att-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-90018/ and here http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-method-2odinheimdall/.
After installing such CMW Touch i can not get it to boot to recovery. Just goes into download mode and as welll as i do not have superuser or root acces on the phone. If any one knows where i can find the procedure to gain full root access so i may start playing around that would be greatly appreciated

The second link you provided was for the International Note. That may be the problem. Use the method here: http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...y-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/. I know for a fact this procedure works, as I have done it on my own Note no less than a dozen times due to the problem in my thread.
Good luck and happy rooting!
Devices:
Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717: Android 4.0.4, Stock, Rooted
Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 YP-G70: Android 2.3.5, Stock, Rooted
Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus 7.0 GT-P6210: Android 4.0.4, Stock, Rooted
Asus Transformer Prime TF201: Android 4.0.3, Stock
Asus Nexus 7, 16 GB: Android 4.1.1, Stock, Rooted
It says for ginger bread rooting. I am running 4.0 and do not wish to go back to 3. Will i keep my current 4.0 with that method or will it be flashed back to ICS
nvm do appologize,,, just caught my own noob mistake... lol
seeing that you have used this method before... when i go to flash the zip file it gives me an error and says it fails... yet i have super user and root acces on the phone now?
You don't have to root your phone to flash a modem. You don't need to have CWM to flash a modem either.
You can install the modem using Odin3 and your pc.
Agreed ....
Thank you ranger ....g

Which root method works for SGP 4.0 YP-G1 with 2.3.6???

Guys, I've been reading and reading through thread after thread and can't seem to find a definite and safe method for rooting my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (U.S.) with 2.3.6. -I read about superoneclick and framaroot and it sounds like these methods work on devices running 2.3.5 but not the one I have. I want to use voodoo sound - that is really the primary and only reason I am trying to go through the trouble of rooting. I'm just tired of reading and searching now - could someone tell me what method works to root my device described above? thanks.
I used iroot worked first time out of the box

I just used Kingo Root - worked fine on 2.3.6. Now I am trying to figure out the next step - creating a nandroid before I go any further. It's proving to be a bit confusing. CWM seems popular but the app page for ROM Manager (I assume I need this to use it?) says I need a kernel that is compatible - where do I get that? I don't want to install a special kernel yet because I want to back up my current system which is working fine right now so I can go back to it. Does the kernel even matter in the back up process? I just don't understand it all quite yet. Should I use TWRP instead? Maybe with that one I don't need a compatible kernel? Help....
