Hey guys!!
I'm here to introduce you the first Dual ROM for this device!!
Haven't you ever wanted to have the speed and awesomeness of AOSP ROM but without missing the special features of Stocks ROM (Tv OUT and so on.)?!?
This prebuild flashable zips I made allows you to install and boot into 2 different OSes according to the way you start the phone.
I wanted to start telling you that nothing would have been possible without the inventor of the special kernel inside the ROMs HellcatDroid and this is the kernel's thread if you need more info about it!
How this works?
There's a special kernel inside the ROM which is the same both for Sammy and for AOSP ROM which boot into a os (primary) just booting up the phone as we normally do. The secondary OS boots when you press the Recovery Combo. The recovery starts if you power off the phone and attach the charger.
here's a video explaining how it works :
VIDEO
Downloads and new procedure
I completely changed the procedure and the way you should dualboot...so this is the NEW procedure :
1)Go to recovery, make a nandroid backup and then wipe all your data (strongly suggested)
2)Install the ROM you want for PRIMARY OS (you can choose the one you mostly like here on xda!)
3)Then and only then choose between these beautiful ROMs for your SECONDARY OS :
CheckROM v4
MIUI 9.12
CM7
4)Enjoy!
IF YOU WANT TO RESTORE EVERYTHING BACK :
Install via CWM this package : RESTORE OS
This will delete your secondary OS permanently and leave just your primary with Siyah kernel
Changelog
-Brand NEW procedure!
-Restore Primary OS option
-CheckROM v4
OLD Downloads
Here's the most sweet part...
each ROM has a primary OS (more space and boots as you normally do) and a secondary OS (less space and boots with recovery combo)...
It depends on your preferences...however here it is :
http://www.multiupload.com/Y357LP81T9 > Clean Sammy (primary) MIUI (secondary)
http://www.multiupload.com/ZWGKORKUC4 > Clean Sammy (primary) CM7 (secondary)
http://www.multiupload.com/OCAVFNEL0N > MIUI (primary) Clean Sammy (secondary)
http://www.multiupload.com/RO00M8UC7P > CM7 (primary) Clean Sammy (secondary)
Final notes and instruction
Please just boot into ROMs and Recovery as it's shown in the video!!
DONT USE REBOOT TO RECOVERY or similar command because it can make you to be stucked in a single ROM!!!
The most stable ROMs are the one with Sammy ROM as primary just because it requires more space than AOSP but the others runs good as well.
THE SECONDARY OS HAS NOT SO MUCH SPACE!!! So you can't install many apps on it.
This thread is for development only. so if you have a suggestion send me a PM.
If you want me to create other ROMs just ask me and if you have technical problems write here in the thread and I'll try to answer to most of you.
I'll make further development just if I see that it is interesting for you as I am a very busy person!
If you want to edit your preference you can use lolboot app on the market here :
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.lolboot
Credits
-HellcatDroid for his kernel and his precious instructions
-Siyah for the base of this kernel which is able to run on every ROM!!
-CM7 team and MIUI for their beautiful ROMs
-Samsung for his good stock ROM
-LeoMar75 and GadgetCheck (visit CheckROM's thread here)
Enjoy and IF you want to contribute look at my signature and DONATE
Gonna try this!!!:d
To get the TV Out feature, can I use CM7 as primary and Sammy as secondary?
This would be just great for testing out beta/experimental ROMs on one partition without hampering your primary driver.
Good work mate!
Willl try awesome dude

However sure you can!!
It's uploading...that's what I do...I leave Stock ROM as secondary just for TV out and enjoy the awesomeness of AOSP as primary...
PS More has to come...slighter Stock ROM and better optimized AOSP...if you have any questions or suggestions please let me know!!
EDIT : New ROM Added!!
This seems to be one of the best things happened to SGS II in recent times, awesome!

what if battery complitly dies ? then can we charge it or it would go to recovery without charge???
and can we change the files inside preload folder with new MIUI (For example change it with the latest update for next week) ( if it's already MIUI ) or not ???
or can we change the main file(Primary files) with new weekly MIUI ( IF it's already miui as primary ) ?
Can this samsung one change to checkrom v4??

Yes...it could...but you should ask the permission to the ROM's dev first...and only then I'll start to make a double ROM with it...
If the battery dies you can attach the charger and it will charge your battery even if it's in recovery...wait some minutes and then reboot...and it's done...
If MIUI or CM7 is PRIMARY you can directly update it with the weekly package provided by the ROM team...it's fair...
if you have MIUI or CM7 as SECONDARY you should change the updater script of the secondary or change the preload dir as you said...
however if there'll be a great interest I'm gonna update it very very frequently...so there'll be no need to do this...
I'm going to make the Samsung ROM much lighter...MIUI or CM7 ROM as PRIMARY is however the best choise if you want to stay up to date with these ROMs...
Cheers dude!
And thank you for the interest shown...
thank you alot...
yes
miui would be a great idea as a primary and sammy as second ...
now...
i'm going to flash this amazing ROM/KERNEL/ ( don't know what should we call it ... but it's great ... )
but one last question ....
if we update through rom updater in the miui what would happend to kernel ???
---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:22 PM ----------
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW...
it's VERY CLEAN... FAST... Without ANY Problem ...
just i should test the Battery/wifi/Bluetooth and ... just because of new kernel ...
thank you so much
keep UP the GOOD and Amazing work...
Quick question: the Japanese SGS2 (the sc-02c) is a bit kernel needy, and thus really only responds to siyah kernel and stock. If I install this rom, but then reflash siyah's kernel, am I just wasting time?
I cant get it work. I am stuck at boot screen.
1 Problem :
for the first time i flashe sammy+miui and every thing goes well
but then i flashed miui+sammy and it's not going to recover as you mentioned at OP
please help...
i don't know what to do...
i want Flash RTL Patch on my miui ( Which is the primary rom for me )
What version of Siyah is being used to power this? Thx.
Also why not link to hellcat's app?
Doesn't work for me either. Installed Sammy as primary as miui as secondary. Phone now only boots into miui whether I hold recovery buttons or not. Also phone does not boot into recovery so I now need to flash back via ODIN.
Lolboot
If anybody has it working could you install lolboot from market and check if it works with it?

Please keep in mind that it's still under development and I need some time to make it work properly...I'm going to put fast link to boot into a OS using a simple command in the other ROM...
Probably you used command like "boot in recovery" or something similar...the kernel made by HellcatDroid is still under dev and need some fixes...
You could just install another normal kernel and go back to recovery with the classic combo...

It's 2.0 however the first thing I made is to link everybody to HellcatDroid thread in which there's a section for his app...
NO OTHER KERNEL ARE SUPPORTED FOR THE MOMENT!
I'm sorry...
I'll continue my development to make it much stabler...for the time being it do need some fixes...I totally agree with you...
sorry for off topic...
bt needed a clarification...
do the devs use android kitchen to build our roms...????
because in android kitchen post...live with walkman is not mentioned in supported devices list...
except live with walkman every device is mentioned like mini, mini pro,etc
so just wanted to confirm this thing....can we still use android kitchen to build roms for LWW....????
I'm not sure if we can use it, but you could try it
And no, I guess most devs don't use it. PA, PAC, Cyanogenmod and AOKP are all compiled from source, other roms are often zip ports. I'm not using the tool, but I guess there are some developers using it

Well that ROM has the KitKat home but it's only 4.2.2. I can probably port it, it will take some time. If you wan't the looks of KitKat in this ROM download Xposed installer and get the Custom Framework app. That allows you to customize your status bar.. Etc transparent, colours etc.
I'm working on another ROM for our Huawei Asend Y201 At the moment, but after that i can certainly have a crack at a port.. Or at last " Theme" the whole ROM to looks like the SexaY nexus 5 :highfive:
How is this ROM going for you so far?
the rom is a lot buggy and a lot of fixes are required i uninstalled it right away.
Thanks for trying. i know of xposed and am using it right now but it aint enough me and many people like me would like to try the whole android 4.4 firmware on our phone. There are custom roms of android 4.4 available for some other huawei phones maybe you can port 4.4 from those

If you can tell me where it's buggy i can update it to stop it 0.o
Also im working on a new ROM hopefully it will not be as buggy. It's still only based of 4.2.2, but it will give other sub $100 phones a run for their money
Unfortunately, as of the end of this month i no longer have my y201, swapping for Galaxy Nexus. So i make this rom quickly and then i have nexus :good: but i will fix issues and bugs thx anywayz

If you have already done the below mentioned process for previous root then again repeat the same process for updated version of CWM, this time you will have the updated recovery file (for installing kitkat you have to update your CWM), this will install the new CWM
Installing CWM Recovery:
The files you will need, download them and extract them to a folder on your desktop:
RootY201Pro.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2604048&d=1393519597)
UnlockBootloader.zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2604049&d=1393519597)
Recovery.zip (it should be updated version) :: ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.7 > (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1_3SnPqNNqyMmNhdzJuRHk3R1U/edit)
Step by Step Process:
1. Turn off your phone if it isn't already.
2. Press and hold the following buttons simultaneously for ~10 seconds: volume down + home button + power button
3. Release the buttons and your phone should not boot, it should be 'stuck'. That's what we wanted.
4. Connect your phone to the PC via USB. It should install the drivers fine.
5. Open CMD and browse to the folder in your desktop.
6. Once you are in the folder type the following commands:
6.a) fastboot erase recovery, then press Enter. Let it work...
6.b) fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, press Enter and let it work again.
6.c) fastboot reboot, and press Enter...
7. Your device is now rebooting. You can unplug it from the PC.
For kitkat Use the following link:

there is a oc_kernel file can I install all files at once? I mean
cm-11-20140503-UNOFFICIAL-u8666E.zip then, gapps_4.4.2_20140426-signed.zip and finally OC_Kernel_Y201PRO_KitKat_03.05.14.zip
is that correct?
or I just install room + gapps and thats it !!
TIA
yes
I have been using this rom's newest release its quite good, if you want overclocking then you can use oc_kernel or kernel 3.4 as uploaded on site ,sorry for late answer
I am fairly new to the Android scene, and even newer to the rooting scene as well.
I am a A+ computer tech, that said I know nothing about Android, rooting or customizing the interface and am learning daily, I have been told by associates that the xda forums are the best resource for finding stable usable custom ROMs and information,
so I enrolled to pick some brains and hopefully learn a few things.
now since my ability to search forums has always has always been "top notch", (Pinocchio's nose got nothing on me by that statement), I'm sure I'll be asking questions that have been asked a bunch of times, I respectfully ask that in stead of flaming me, please just post a link to the proper forum post and I will be greatly appreciative.
question 1.
where do I find a rom install guide for idiots, primarily for a galaxy player 5.0 YP-G70
question 2.
what is the most stable and fully functional ROM for my YP-G70, when I say fully functional I mean camera and all, as I have been reading there are issues with newer ROMs with the back facing camera, and I need the camera to be fully functional as I use it almost daily at work for lables and assembly/disassemby pictures., I've heard that Cyanogenmod is one of the best out there, is there a fully functional and stable version that will work with my YP-G70?
question 3.
an idiots guide for what can be accomplished by rooting and how to do it, such as turning off adds, removing or moving stock programs and settings etc.
there will always be more questions but I won't push the noob envelope to much, these three are my most pressing

I'm running CyanogenMod 10.2 (4.3.1) and I'm able to use the back camera via High-Speed Camera (there are probably other apps, but this is the one I'm using). I don't know if it works with the other ROMs (and I don't see why it wouldn't), so someone else will have to get back to you w/that one.

If you want to remove stock apps, then you can download Titanium Backup (or an app that's similar) and uninstall them that way.

The short answer here is stick with stock. The rear facing camera has been a problem on every ROM, except stock based roms. There are some workarounds but If you need good quality photos from rear cam then stock based is your only solution...
Thank you both for the info and direction.
I know to keep something stock is to keep it original.... but what do you mean stock based? an original ROM that has been stripped but the core and drivers are the same?
and what stock based ROM would you recommend for my GP5.0 yp-g70 that might give me a little better performance and nice appearance?
also I haven't had a chance to explore all the information yet, but can someone give me a link to a good source of direction on how to use titanium backup, or some other app to back up my device, OS and apps so if I should get something not to my likeing I can revert back to original.

Scroll down to "5.0 (stock based)"
"Stock based" simply means a modified stock ROM. "stock" sort of meaning; a ROM from the manufacturer. I haven't personally tried any of the stock based ROMS. They may have issues. Im only saying that it is the stock and stock based ROMS that have the potential to have a fully working rear cam. You have to read in each post to find out if there are issues.

This rom is built directly from the stock MRA58R Google image.
PSA
For pin to work you will need a permissive kernel, Rom is currently running enforcing so flash a permissive kernel if you want pin. No issues if your using cataclysm. I'm working on figuring out the fix thanks.
It is basically just the system folder extracted from the MRA58R Google update and repackaged as a flashable zip with a stock kernel with added features by @gerar_f.
I packaged this together for people that want a Stock Bloated Google experience. Or a fully stock rom to customize to the users liking.
Any mod made for the stock google rom should work 100% here.
Cataclysm mod is recommended if your looking for a more custom rom experience and I fully support flashing it over this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/orig-development/rom-cataclysm-nexus-6-t3219121
Cataclysm flashes a kernel so if you like the added features of gerar_f's kernel then you will want to flash it after cataclysm. Link below
Rom Features
Odexed
None really. This is as stock Google as it gets, you will find all the gapps that will possibly fit in the system partition just like a stock google image.
Root is not included. Flash SuperSu 2.5.2 if you want. You can run this rom un-rooted with cataclysm mod flashed over top and have a custom unrooted rom with working android pay.
(Theoretically) I haven't been able to test pay around me
Busybox is also not installed so grab that from the playstore if you want/need it.
Included Kernel by @gerar_f
Included kernel is Custom "Stock" v4 created by @gerar_f big thanks to him and go over to his thread and drop a like.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/kernel-stock-kernel-root-color-control-t3218958
Kernel is stock in behavior with a few features. First it is without forced encryption, It is Seandroid Enforcing and includes several features, Root with rw if rooted, Disabled boot verification warning, Color control, Headphone and mic gain control, Vibration control, Wake gestures, Multirom support.
TIPS
There is only 33mb free in the system partition due to google including so many gapps. In my testing ive found that this is enough for installing 1 layers theme and Cataclysm Mod.
Some gapps may need removed to install things like Xposed modules, and other apps to the system(TBO apps, better battery stats etc) or anything that takes up more than a few megs going into the system.
I personally remove Fit, Sheets, and Slides which gives you around 100mb free in system which is enough for my use. I recommend this app for removing system apps you dont want. Root Required.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp&hl=en
Thanks
@gerar_f for great custom stock kernel. (I couldn't even begin to figure out how to customize a kernel)
@tupac4u for the updater-binary and update-script to flash the zip properly. (my attempts at making the script were futile)
@atl4ntis for making Cataclysm and inspiring me to create a stock rom for said mod to be flashed over.

I'm planning on releasing more versions as Google releases it's monthly updates.
To answer your other question it's not as simple as just extracting the system.img but isnt too hard. Basically you extract the actual system.img from the Google update. Then use ext4 unpacker to unpack it into an ext4 file. Then you use ext2 explore to unpack the ext4 file which gives you the system folder with all the files within. Then just take the system folder a compatible boot.img and a working meta-inf folder and zip them up. Then you have your Rom.

Yea that's very simple way to make a Rom. I wouldn't call myself a dev or anything. The other custom roms require a lot more work like modifying system apks to add the extra features. This is just full unmodified stock with a kernel. I figured it would be a great base to flash cataclysm over. Seeing how it's recommended to flash cataclysm over a full stock Rom this is as close as it gets right now. People have had luck flashing cataclysm over other stock modified roms but I worry that those modifications may cause issues with the modifications of cataclysm. With that said I'm personally running it without cataclysm. I just removed a few gapps I'll never use flashed and installed around 10 team blackout apps, and applied magpie midnight theme for a almost fully blacked out experience.

As stated above by others, I was also surprised that there wasn't a flashable stock ROM available, primarily for those who wish to be stock, use xposed and or mods like Cataclysm.
This is working awesome; thanks @GavinMazey
Great idea, I'll probably be checking it out soon with CatMod. Any chance you could debloat it? It's not hard for me to just use Tibu to do it, but one less thing to do is always nice. No worries if you can't.
Thanks for the rom!
Thank you for this!

I'm not really planning on debloating, there is a plethora debloated roms for the n6. But if enough end up wanting it I might. But if I do it would be my personal debloat instead of removing as much as possible. Keeping it stock let's me update faster when google drops new images.

+ 1 on NOT debloating. Every one could do it how they like it by themselves.
Thanks.. It's good to know I have an option to flash the zip. I might load up cataclysm tonight
This is great for those who want fresh out of box stock experience with working ANDROID PAY. Once you root it, trim it, customize it, then ANDROID PAY won't work.

Noted. That was my thought too stock bloated base for users to do what they want with it. I personally use most of the gapps included, I personally only delete sheets, slides, and fit (I may be a fatty lol). I've found most debloated roms remove too much so instead of having the gapps taking up system space I have to install them to internal storage taking up space where they don't need to be.
Too much free system space is wasted space imo.

If your already on android m you should be good to flash this then cataclysm. Report back how it went if you do. Haven't had too much feedback on users actually flashing it. Hopefully because all works great [emoji12]

That's exactly why I kept it unrooted. In theory someone could flash this Rom and then cataclysm without root and have a custom Rom with working Pay just no root. No where that I've been around me accepts pay so I am unable to test. But in theory it should work.

I am thinking about using multirom with this zip, cataclysm, and a lollipop rom.. Maybe kitkat too for one game that only works on kitkat lol

Flashing cataclysm will replace the included kernel with cataclysm kernel which you'll need to check supports multirom, I'm not sure off the top of my head. But if not re flashing the included kernel by gerar_f after cataclysm will give you multirom support. Also I'm not entirely sure you can run kitkat and marshmallow in multirom at the same time. I haven't used it myself but I think (I may be wrong) that multirom uses your main kernel for all other roms. So a different android version may not work properly. Again I might be wrong.
