Hi so I'm having some trouble changing the UA string on the default google browser on my atrix. I'm trying to change the webpage view to the desktop view. I open the browser and go to a webpage that is displaying the mobile format. I enter "about:debug" and click go and that allows me to access the extended settings where I find the UA string. I change it to Desktop and click the home button. I open up the browser again and still the webpage is in its mobile version. It's pretty frustrating and I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I prefer to view the webpages in its original format instead of the mobile. I know other browsers such as Dolphin allow for this but I want to take advantage of the new Google Instant preview and those browsers don't allow that. Can someone help me out here I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
I find I can print pdfs of web pages in Firefox and Dolphin HD, but there are no headers or footers with urls and page numbers like most printouts from a computer would have. Also, Dolphin will not print logged in web pages to PDF, but Firefox will. Any suggestions?
What other browsers have this capability?
Are there any system print to pdf utilities, such as a driver for a virtual printer that creates PDF files, that may allow creating pdfs from other applications as well as web browsers?
Thanks
Its a pain to always have to open up a PDF viewer app over and over again when i open up PDFs in multiple tabs in chrome,
(unless there is a PDF viewer capable of having multiple tabs i am not aware of)
so im just wondering if theres a browser (or a browser add on) that would allow me to view PDFs within the browser, like i do on my desktop ~
You can do it with firefox using an add-on called Pdf Viewer, imo is a bit slow but better than nothing i guess.
Hello,
I have an ACER Liquid E2 running Android 4.2
I have installed 3 web browsers, and I can see that some websites are much better browsed with one browser than with another. But it is not the same browser which best browses all the websites.
So I want to have a shortcut which points to website A with Chrome, another shortcut which points to website B with Firefox, etc. The problem is that when I create shortcuts to a website on my desktop, it always launches the default browser. And if I do not define a default browser, I have to say which browser I want to use each time I activate a shortcut. It is boring, and I do not always remember which browser is the best for each website.
So here is the question: is there a way to create shortcuts which are browser dependant and would permit me to associate one website with Chrome, another website with Firefox, .... ?
Thanks for any help.

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is using each browser's bookmark widget (Chrome, Dolphin, etc). Not every browser has them, unfortunately, but you should be able to find a generic bookmark widget that you can substitute.

Hello es0tericcha0s,
Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, the shortcuts created from a browser bookmark seem to be nothing more than shortcuts to the URL. They do not seem to contain information on the browser to use. I have tried creating shortcuts from the standard Android browser as well as from Chrome, and they all behave the same: they use the default browser if it is defined, otherwise they ask which browser to use. The only difference is the look of the shortcut icon.
I was thinking that perhaps a one-line script could do the job. But I have not been able to locate the executable files for Chrome, Firefox, or the standard browser.
Could anyone help ?
There is some sort of built-in web browser on this phone and it's not good. It block access to 'unsafe' ports, so I cant login to public Wifi that has a landing page. Anytime there is a hotlink that needs a web page, this stupid browser comes up despite having other browsers set as default. Is there anyway to disable this system web browser?
I have edited your thread title to remove the obvious reproductive anatomical connotation. Your posts must be acceptable to the general public.
