After some reading and testing I've found that using a 1000ma charger with a mhl hdmi adapter instead of the standard 700ma means my wifi signal drops only slightly, meaning I can stream hd movies on the tv.
Would it be ok to use a higher rated charger to improve signal more?

I'm on miui, so I can't check, I can't remember if its there. Is there a TV output in the display settings? The captivate allowed output to Red/Yellow/White RCA connectors using the headphone jack. It used the same cable as my Zune. iPod cable is similar but you have to swap two of the cables, the colors are in the wrong order.

I was wondering if those RCA cables work with the g2 but I don't have any to test with.

Hi Everyone,
i am using my photon 4g in india and we don't have flat pin sockets here.
i have been charging my phone with USB from my laptop.
can any body suggest me other options?
A wallplug --> USB adapter to charge via that? Or can't you order a micro-usb charger online for whatever type of wall outlets you have there?
I am also in India. I am using a Samsung micro usb charger (850ma) i think. This has normal pins.

Get one flat to round pin adapter which is easily available in electronics shops.

does this charger works for photon..

Most of the micro usb charger should work with photon. But one suggestion, try to get charger with atleat 0.7A rating, otherwise charging may be slow.

I use it and it works just fine
In order for a charger to work on the Photon, it has to have the D+ and D- pins connected, either directly or with a resistor. Unlike most phones, the Photon won't charge from a USB hub or port unless the host PC has the Motorola charging/ADB driver installed.

Can I use a mhl cable to watch movies on tv with sound. Do i have to have some special setup?

Special mhl. Not exactly sure why but it has something to do with number of pins I think. I had an mhl cable for my last phone that doesn't work on this one. Also went to best buy and tried a micro usb to hdmi cable they had. It didn't work either.

Needs to be 11-pin, and needs to be plugged into power. I got this one and it works: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0088...ct=true&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&tag=wwwgadgetgblo-20

Just throwing it out there but if you have an Xbox connected to your TV or if your Tv is DLNA capable an app called Twonky Beam will get the job done
I can't speak for the cable but with the Smart Dock both video and sound are outputed via HDMI to TV. I would think a genuine Samsung 11-pin MHL adapter would work the same.
Do you have the smart dock and if so can you write a review about it and let us know if you think it's worth 100 dollars

I read that sgs3 mhl adapters work for the note 2 also. Received my well rated adapter today and it doesn't seem to work. I'm on Beans ROM Build 2. Bummer!

You have usb power plugged into the mhl adapter?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Yep. Went back to a stock ROM and now it acknowledges its connected but the TV has no signal

I am having the same problem. I have tried the official Samsung 11 pin adapter and a cheap knock off and have the same issue of it connecting and then disconnecting. Samsung told me that it was a bad port on the phone and I finally had got a new phone from verizon and it does the same thing. This is very frustrating.
There is really no trick to getting it working.
I use the ridiculously priced Samsung adaptor with a 2amp charger hooked to it and it works every time.
All i have to do is plug it in and set the TV on the right input and I'm good to go.
The 2 amp charger is the key. Make sure u have enough juice.

The OEM power adapter that comes with the phone is Euro and the adapter that was sent with it is sketchy so I'm looking to buy a legitimate adapter to plug into my wall.
My question is what's the highest rated adapter i should buy? The Euro one is rated at 1.5 amps but for some reason all i can find are hardwired style power cables instead of the USB style.
2 amp versions are plentiful but I'm not sure if that .5 amp is going to swell my battery overtime.
Any suggestions?

Anything around 3A is the maximum
Charging at 1200mah is the max speed too for safety and 3 volts should be good because Z2 battery is 3 volts
Edit- it needs to be 5 volts and 3 Amps max

Battery is 3V but the charging current needs to be 5v
Get a quality (Sony, Samsung, Apple, etc) charger with at least 1A to 3A.
I have an old charging block from an iPad. It's rated at 5.1 volts and 2.1 amps.
Would this be safe to use?

It'll work great, apple chargers are among some of the best as long as they are genuine.
