I'm thinking of rooting my x10mp which runs Android 2.1-update1 (that's what the Firware version shows).
I've come across a few apps for rooting like z4root and easy one click.
Which app is the easiest to use AND safest?.
TIA,
Mike
SuperoneClick is easy to use and it can definitely root our mini with success! After 2.1update-1 z4root stopped working for my mini so i rooted with superoneclick!
And both are safest way!!!!!!!!

Thanks. Any suggestions from other users?

jodhaniohm97 is absolutely right. Superoneclick is definitely the way to go. It's fast, simple and doesn't cause any problems.
Agree, Superoneclick is the best

Thanks all for the replies.
After someone wrote a script for our phones so it can install CWM and root our phones using superoneclick, everything was made easy.
why worry about any other s/w to use in the phone. You have all in one rooting technique to do things.
So, verdict? Superoneclick. Go for it bro!
Superoneclick & CWM installer
i dont see any working rooting software other than superoneclick.
I've tried both z4root & superoneclick, and neither successfully rooted my phone.
z4root just stops during the process, while superoneclick hangs after showing "strep 3: something" in the status window.

if you could post the screenshot of the problem or atleast be accurate of the problem maybe we can give inputs.
Thanks for suggesting.
A screenshot of the superoneclick window is:

Nothing happened beyond "Step 3".
TIA.
are you using win7? try running superoneclick as an administrator. also check if usb debugging is on. and when rooting dont mount the sd card.
sorry if i may not be of much help.
This is what finally worked for me:
Windows 7->right click on "superoneclick.exe"->run as admin.
on phone->enable usb debugging, connect phone in "charge phone" mode
click "root" in superoneclick
Thanks all for the inputs.
Ill also try root wit this two app and nothing. Today i will try run superoneclick as admin and hope that will be that!
Superone click root is best and easy for rooting

1: get SuperOneClick from its original thread if you don't already have it. Latest version is 1.5.5, but most versions seem to work fine.
2: Delete the "rageagainstthecage" file (no filename extension).
3: get psneuter.zip from the Xperia X8 Android Development forum thread.
4: Unzip it. Rename "psneuter" to "rageagainstthecage" (no filename extension), and move it to your SuperOneClick folder, to replace the rageagainstthecage file you deleted in step 2.
5: run SuperOneClick. Mine rooted without looping.
6: reboot your phone. Test your shiny new root!
Remember to put your phone in debugging mode, etc. Someone in the X8 thread claims that X10 Mini can be rooted via this method; I don't have a Mini so I don't know for sure. But I've got a Mini Pro and it just worked.
Update:
The file you need in Step 3 is "psneuter", not "psneuter.c". psneuter.c is the source file for psneuter. You can ignore it.
donetus says that if you have problems with Titanium Backup (even after step 6!), uninstall it, reboot, and reinstall Titanium. This appears to have worked for several users.
Amey006 says that s/he had to install drivers from the Sony Ericsson PC Companion for SuperOneClick to move past "waiting for device". I had PC Companion already installed when I did mine, so I don't know whether the process works without PC Companion... if you don't have PC Companion, you can get it here.
Update 03-2011:
The latest version of SuperOneClick now includes psneuter; you no longer need to follow the steps above. Just use SuperOneClick!
Mine doesnt root. I followed all the steps.
Can u please give a detailed procedure.
Thanks.
Hi, I just registered to give my thanks.
Now I test it and confirm if it works, but of course thank you very much

Does your phone say that it is connected? Try another USB port?
ADB will say "waiting for device" because SuperOneClick tells it to wait until a device is connected; if it says "waiting for device", ADB isn't seeing your phone at all.

When it says: Waiting for Device, Turn USB Debugging ON
It'll now run RATC
When it says: Starting ADB Server...
Turn USB Debugging OFF

had root -> SE update last week -> no root
Hi all,
I had rooted my x10 mini pro with the z4root tool before. Last week ran a SE update that unrooted my device and also installed back all the crapware.
The z4 root tool doesn't work no more.. it stays on the 'busy rooting' notice forever.
Then I tried the here mentioned method with SuperOneClick with with replaced pseudo file etc..
The program say it has rooted and the superuser app appears in the drawer. However Titanium and Root explorer apps do not have SU accress..
What can I try? I used superoneclick v. 1.5
cheers

Maybe this thread will be your answer :

=[ I tried pressing the root button and it says to connect your device and enable USB debugging.Which I've done.
It worked for me OK, o2 .24 firmware update, but I didn't do a factory reset when I updated via seus, maybe that is a factor?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I had it rooted before, it was slow so I unroot it. Later I saw an update and after the update, I couldnt root it anymore. So I reset it to factory settings and now im stuck. =[
@ukakit:
thats what happened to me too!! i rooted my x10i using z4root... and i updated it via pc companion yesterday.... and now i cant root my phone...
even after reinstalling z4root or redownloading z4root... worst of all... i realised the update did nothing at all!! except for unrooting my phone
have you found a solution?
If you are on build 2.0.A.504 then use this.
If you are on build 2.0.2.A.0.24 then use this.
I'm unable to root my X10, I do not know why! I tried with z4root, universal androot and SuperOneKlick,I even search on youtube and nothing succeeded. I don't know what to do anymore . Perhaps the thing that I have the latest software of Android OS (firmware v. - 2.1, the baseband v. - 2.0.49, build number - 2.0.2.A.0.24). I have read almost all posts on the XDA about root and still impossible. PLEASE HELP !!

Had the same issue yesterday.. solved it with a little logic..
Just follow the steps..
1. You will need x10 flashtool installed on your computer.
2.open it.
3. Turn on Usb debugging mode in your x10 under applications->Development.
4. Turn your phone off and remove battery for 20 sec.
5. Put the battery in and hold back key without turning on your phone.
6. Plug the usb cable without leaving the back key. A green led light must appear.
7. Now press the root button in x10 flashtool. It will say connect your phone and enable usb debugging.
8. Disconnect your usb cable and Turn on your phone
9. Reconnect it ro computer BUT DO NOT MOUNT THE SD CARD.
10. then just press the root button again in flashtool..
11. The phone will now be rooted.
NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE ADB INTERFACE DRIVERS INSATLLED ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR YOUR PHONE

Both the .24 and .435 root with SOC 1.5.5
Hi guys good day!!! I do have a x10i with FIRMWARE 1.6, BASEBAND 1.01.14, BUILDER NO. R1FAO14 which was working perfectly fine. Until I tried to update it using SEUS which was successful (as per the software) then I restarted my phone and saw it was updated to FIRMWARE 2.1 UPDATE1, BASEBAND 2.1.54, BUILDER NO. 2.1.a.o.435. The problem was after 5-10 mins buttons no longer work and only the touch screen works. Please if anybody has a solution please let me know.
I’m thinking of two things, FIRST is reverting it back to 1.6 if possible (I don’t know how...) SECOND is to continue using the current firmware (2.1 update1) but resolving the button issue.
Thanks...

cannot root
Hi,
thanks for all your tries - it didn´t work for me so far:
I have an SE X10, Firmware 2.1-update1, Baseband 2.1.54, Kernel 2.6.29 and Build 2.1.a.0.435
I tried SOC in different Versions - no success - used Flashtool and Z4Root - no success.
My last try of Flashtool is attached - any ideas are welcome. I know - this WILL be my LAST time using SEUS to perform an update - before this, rooting worked fine.
Now it does not work anymore...
I reformatted my computer and after I couldn't get my phone to connect using debugging mode, I had to use a different computer to root it. Do you have access to a different computer? It solved my problem...Hope this helps! I have rooted every version from Sony no problem except the latest one, flashtool didn't work even with the patch, so I used superoneclick.
hey guys help me out i cant root my xperia

Did you also remember to allow 3rd party apps?

depending on your firmware theres a few way to root it
1.6, x10root.apk and universalandroot.apk
Just install em and root
2.1, at first there was z4root but SE patched it out, but i used superoneclick and it looped once and rooted straight away
or you could just flash your phone using Zdzihu method which installs a pre rooted 024 firmware
or use this HowTo

H,
I used the X10root app to try and root my X10.
the problem comes when it says": wifi on followed by wifi off.
I've done the steps...but it seems to be frozen right at this point...there is no further message, no indication that anything is happening.
Can someone help?
the easiest way, it takes me 1 min, no apps or anything required, download flashtool from xda to your computer, connect your usb and click root. click root on top left with flash tool, it will do things, and you phone will restart, when it restarts, you will have root access. thanks me if i helped!
flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
I found superoneclick to be the easiest.... z4root is easy as hell too
First time i was using Z4. Worked like a charm!
Last time i was on .435 firmware. Z4root, X10Root, Flashtool... all didn't work!
I found out that the .435 can only be rooted by suuperoneclick v1.55 or v1.63.
Before you connect (with USB debug mode on), be sure to have the SE drivers installed on your PC. Else superoneclick won't be able to find your xPeria.
Good luck!
on my .435 i used flashtool to root as well =)
I really need this done please anyone

Z4root doesn't work on my x10 Mini Pro.
I've just reflashed it using SEUS, which gave me 2.1.1.A.0.6. Downloaded and installed z4root, ran it, the app did its thing, gave no error messages and...my phone still isn't rooted.
I've just done a quick bit of Googling and it looks like z4root isn't compatible with this build. As far as I can tell, there isn't anyway to root your phone, if this is the build you're on, without using a PC. Maybe it's worth trying to borrow a friend's for a few minutes? Or sneaking down to an internet cafe and hoping that they haven't disabled the USB ports..
