[Q] Google movie rentals - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I rented a Google movie but the Videos app error message says movies don't play on rooted devices. Only thing is I'm not rooted. Anyone else have a similar problem? I'm running software version 8.8.3.27 and the tablet says there is no update available.

Don't use rentals just download them of pirate bay much better and always world

Yeahhhhh I'm pretty sure that is the exact reason Sopa ilwas written now I'm against it but just blatantly saying something like that isn't helpful

Why would Videos app think my tablet is rooted?

Movies is probably the reason that root is being withheld from us. Boycot it until they allow you to pay money without also having to put up with DRM and usage restrictions. (not saying that the free option is right, but it sure is less hassle)

Try a factory reset? Your firmware version is not correct....that is probably why its failing. If you are still unable to update, take it back.

Pretty hilarious the drm makes it harder to watch a movie than just pirating it. It should be easier to rent a movie so pirating doesn't look so tempting.

Sony Playstation Store arrived - and UnlimitedMusic App Update

This morning got a update about Psx store and the update for unlimited music ...
check ur device
greetz
//edit
at the moment the service is not accessable in germany
little tip psxstore needs account manager app made by sony get it via market
If you can't find the update, it'll show a PS Controller by the clock, similar to when a game is running.
Crap, when it takes me to the install of the account manager, pressing download giveds me an error:
"the item youwere trying to buy could not be found"
And looking better, I found out that the account manager is not available in my country (Portugal)
what a hell Sony? I buy ur tab, no video unlimited, no music unlimited and now, no psx store?

Bugger, I installed the ps store and went to sign up (uk) and it states that the service is not available in my region so I select usa and it worked. So I decide to uninstall ps store and reinstall but how do I get the apk file for PS store to come back in the notifications bar?
Heres the APK file
megaupload.xom/?d=J0VC9YBG
the file name is tagged with SCEE so this is the real european version!

Its live in the uk now as well
Im a bit dissapointed really because.
Take Destruction Derby, i bought this game for the PS3 which also allowed it to be played on the psp.
Then i got an xperia play and had to buy it again.
Now the Tablet S has the PSN store it still wants me to buy it yet again!!
Fook That!!
when i try to use music unlimited i get the message that the network is not available. I get the same message on my xperia arc. Is this thing only works on 3g and not wifi???
I got the music unlimited update but haven't gotten any notifications for the playstation store yet and I'm in the U.S. - has everyone else gotten the notification?

I contacted Sony about it and what you have to do is open/sign into your video unlimited app and then the notification popped up for me!
keep an eye on that sony account app as I found my battery life was a lot shorter after installing it. Turns out after looking at battery use it was keeping the device awake the whole time and so was never going to sleep. Reluctant to reinstall it again it case it happens again but I want these PS one games. Maybe it was just me but it maybe worth keeping an eye on
From time to time I either restart my device or go into settings > applications > running > and stop apps that are running that don't need to be. There are task killer apps but they use just as much resources as all the other apps running anyway so I just try to manage it myself.

I got the update notice after accessing music unlimited too, and it isn't available in the uk just yet I got very happy then very sad, but at least Sony are starting to get things moving
I don't have a tablet s, so here's a stupid question: Do you buy the games from Android marketplace, or is the purchasing in the playstation store app? If so, does that mean you use your playstation network account?
Also, if anyone purchased one of these games, PM me. I wish to see what changed in this emulator from the last and if there are any significant compatibility updates.
Wish they offered trial/demo versions of games.

Amazon Video APK working on Nook Tablet!

Here is the Amazon Video APK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352694
This is really the last piece that the Kindle has over the Nook Tablet... and now that is solved.
Notes
There is some preventative code in the Amazon Video Player that stops it from playing if you are rooted, but just get the "OTA RootKeeper" app from the Google Market (or search the apk) and install that. That lets you temporarily unroot with a single click. Then restore root with another. All right from your device! No need for PC connection. Now you can watch your prime shows without losing root!
There is no menu option to login to your prime account through the app. Some people claim that if you have Amazon MP3 installed and login there, then install the Amazon Video app, it will use the same login info. But if that doesn't work, you can simply click on a prime video, click the buy button, it will take you to a login screen, then login and it should recognize your prime access and let you watch.
Won't save login
Amazon Video apk installs and runs beautifully but I can't sign in. I selected a movie to purchase, was taken to the login screen, entered login info (I'm a Prime member.) but then it kicks me back to the movie screen and starts the cycle all over again. After re-entering my login several times it never gets past the loop. Is there a trick to having it remember the login?
Try and reboot the nook after logging in, worked for me.

Worked!
Worked like a charm and I'm embarrassed that I didn't try this first! Thanks for your reply.
Looks like it doesn't work if you are rooted.
Worked before rooting, no longer working after rooting. I am a sad panda.
The work around is to use OTA RootKeeper, a free app on the Market that will backup your "root files" (I'm guessing su) and restore when you need it.
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper
Unfortunately, I can't test this since I don't yet have the Nook or any other Android tablet. Hope it helps you guys out though!

It's a better layout, and the video plays faster since it's all native.
Didn't work for me. I think because my NT is now rooted. Got a "cannot open file" when I tried to launch the apk.
about streaming videos...
Can anyone check how these stream on NT:
http://vimeo.com/hd
http://veetle.com/index.php/listing#all/quality/1 (highest playable bitrates?)
Revision3 apk (available at Market) when on "HD" ?
any other online HD streaming video content you know of and able to watch and report/demonstrate?
Thank you
Can NON Prime members at least rent movies? No free streaming right? I have the Amazon player on my NT but afraid to login to my Amazon account because I dont't want to be charged $80 lol

Prime membership just gives you a subset available to stream for free. It is not a requirement for accessing the video service.

On the page for the video, it shows the different options available to watch (Streaming, Download to PC, Portable Device, etc...). Can you download the portable device version and transfer it to the NT to play in the app?

You shouldn't get that error if you are rooted. It should let you do everything but give you a warning when you try to watch. But see the first post again for notes on how to easily bypass this.

[Q] Install Real Racing 2 under CM9?

I saw that Real Racing 2 went on sale for $0.99 and I wanted to take advantage of that. Unfortunately, the Play Store seems to think the app is incompatible with my device. I'm running turl's CM9, which, by default, reports itself as an "unknown MB860". I did some research and changed build.prop to be a "motorola MB860", cleared data for Google Play Store, rebooted, and still no go. I then got out a bigger hammer (as the post I found about market incompatibilities suggested) and change it to a "samsung Nexus S". No joy. I can't imagine the game isn't actually compatible with the Atrix, is it? Any idea of how I can get this purchased and installed? Thanks.
You can purchase through logging in to your Google account through a browser on the Google play website. As for installing it I have no idea
I was annoyed by this too. Really wanted to download this game but got the incompatibility message too on cm7.

Amazon Prime Video

Is it possible to watch Amazon Prime Video on this tablet?
I've installed the Amazon app (phone version, not "for Tablets") and Prime Instant Video on my brand new Nexus 9 using the Amazon App Store. With my previous tablet, this would allow me to watch Prime Video using the Amazon app.
But with the Nexus 9, the "Video" option is missing from the pull out menu.
I'm interested in any possible workaround!
No, it doesn't work. If you sideload the Amazon Instant Video apk and run it you just get an error message saying its not supported. Thanks, Amazon....

Amazon Prime streaming on Android is offered for phones only - not tablets. On my previous Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (don't buy that device) I was able to side load the phone app and get video streaming to work that way. But Amazon seems to have the Nexus 9 blacklisted for being a "tablet".
Since it worked on my N7 FHD running L preview once I upgraded the app to 5.1, I was hoping it would work on N9.

I haven't tried this yet, but it's likely the only option for the foreseeable future. Let's hope Amazon change their ridiculous Kindle tablet strategy sooner rather than later!
Curious, if you change the build.prop for one app does it not mess
up the other apps?
I'm extremely interested in getting AIV working too. I actually complained to amazon and they cited the no tablet policy, I griped that it worked on my Nexus 7 and I see no reason at all why they would block tablets. They basically said sorry and credited me $5 which was nice but now it looks like I have to hack something.
I've not tried this on a Nexus 9, but have you tried Firefox and Flash using the old Flash apk that's lying around? I can view Amazon Instant on my Nexus 7 this way. It even supports full screen viewing.
Update: as it turns out my Nexus 9 was stuck on an older firmware and the OTA failed for some reason, even if I tried sideloading them. I got the latest image from Google and wiped my N9 and put that on and now amazon prime will play videos and doesn't show the unsupported device message.
I am seeing a lot of buffering but that's a whole different issue.
Regarding Flash, crashes Firefox for me every time.

after you loaded the factory image from google, did you have to do anything special or just install the amazon for tablets app from the play store. Going to work on this on my nexus 9 tonight, but in order to get it working on my nexus 7 with lollipop I had to install the amazon appstore app, then install the amazon shopping app (for phone) from within the amazon appstore.

Are you also stuck on the original shipping version of 5.0? I was stuck on the one that isn't available for download, and my updater said everything was up to date.
Near as I am aware the only way to get the prime instant video app is from the amazon app store so you need that to get it. Then the instant video app will likely tell you to go get the amazon store app as well even though you might already have that from the play store. Apparently the AIV needs the special amazon store app from their app store.
Update 2: it appears the buffering issue isn't amazon's fault, there are plenty of video playback issues with Android 5 it seems.
I'm forced to admit this is the worst Android experience I've ever had and it certainly isn't limited to this one little issue.

I had the same problem with the store app, seemed to be related to multiple downloads IMO. Check your downloads folder and see if you have their store app downloaded multiple times with a (2) or such at the end of the file, if so delete all copies of the store app downloaded. Clear data on the store app and uninstall that, then download one copy of the store app from amazon, it shouldn't have ()in the file name. Try again with that one.
Edit: it might also be too many attached devices in amazon. There is a place to clear those out on amazon if it's loaded up with a bunch of different devices.
I got it working.
1. Deinstall amazon app from your device.
2. Install the amazon app-shop from amazon website (i used this URL: http://www.amazon.de/gp/mas/get/android/ref=mas_rw_ldg&tag=an-artikel21)
3. Install the amazon app from the app-shop app (!not Form Google play store)
4. install the amazon instant Video app from amazon app-shop app
5. have fun watching videos

Vudu on 3.2 Update

So I just installed the 3.2 Update for my shield. The Vudu app comes pre-installed. There us already an update for the app in the playstore. But Vudu won't let me play any of my movies in UHD. It shows me that I own the UHD version, but HDX is the biggest resolution it will let me play it in. Anyone able to get UHD to work?

Just came across this Q. You (obviously) need a 4K display (in 4K mode), and need HDCP 2.2 full chain from tv->shield. Missing either of those, it won't show you UHD.

There's sites that can generate fake cc and addresses. They're truly fake so you're not ripping anyone off.
Quick Google should reveal them.
Then you can add whatever UV codes in your preferred UK UV partner and a few minutes later the available in vudu.
Where'd you get the apk from? I have the account but find on my UK shield even after spoofing location to California and using an enabler proxy - which works on the tablet version on my Nexus 7

Installed but uninstalls itself between reboots
Hi
so I found out how to get it running with IP mask, location spoof and registration from the app (for some reason 'existing user' wouldn't work)
sideloading the apk then reveals the included app. But frustratingly when rebooted the sideloaded apk disappears and vudu becomes unavailable again. a reinstall fixes it but anyone know how to either stop shield uninstalling or to create a new apk from the original that the shield would accept as a standalone apk?
Thanks
looking forward for more
I'm also looking for a way to get vudu to work on my Norwegian Shield TV. It's not in the play store, even with vpn.. I really want to watch my Vudu movies in UHD on my Shield TV :/

Hi
the apk is actually on the factory image it just doesn't "appear". but does when you sideload (it does get deleted at next reboot).
So download and then sideload.
Haven't tried that method though in a bit. send me a pm to know why.
