How to make viedo calls on xperia ray ......on network
Sent from my xperia ray using xda premium
Download videocall app and run it.
Go to Android Market with your phone and search 'tango' app. Then download it on the phone and install it. One thing you should keep in mind is that someone you wanna make call to must install 'tango' app also.
Skype from the android market works a treat as well.
you're probably the only person in the world who uses 3g video calls
wow! you must be a very rich guy

But not outgoing?
Force closes out going.

Make sure your on a 2.3.4 Rom not 2.3.3 or it wont work. Im using the Raw 2.3.4 on the development forum.
It works both outgoing and incoming...
Force Close
Force closes on me also when I switch to the back camera.
Working for me on 2.3.3 no problem. Incoming and outgoing both work fine.

It now FC came back to outgoing calls!
Yes it does force close when you switch to the back camera so only use the front camera and use the phone sideways
works on Leaked Mytouch 2.3.3 rom...only problem i have is that my video comes out sideways no matter how i rotate my phone...
Installed, not tried
So I installed the new gapps, but all my friends are offline right now. Stupid day dwellers. How do you initiate a video chat with it now though?

exactly my question. how in the world do i start video or voice calls? i do not see an option for video calls anywhere. i do see an option for voice calls but its not highlighted so i cant select it.
i know i have the video chat talk apk because i have the camcorder icon besides my name. also when i tap on my name i see the enable voice and video checked. i just cant seem to figure out how to initiate the calls.
U will see a video camera next to your contacts name when they r online and have a web cam...if they done have a camera but do have a mic you'll see a speaker...add me to test rjmata011...

2.3.4 was on the 5/03/11 nightly, and video chat works. Crashes when switching cameras, fyi. Not a big deal.
I have one contact with a video icon next to it. I read in the CM forums that people are testing this with their computers as well.
What else is new with the 2.3.4 GAPPS?

Mine and my girls mt4g are running nb61 with the new gapps. We both have the same settings on talk. But when I see her contact name on my list there's no mic nor camera besides her name, just a dot. Same thing on her side. There's no other icon besides my name on her list than just a dot.

Did you download the updated gapps?

Wipe?
So I installed the latest version of gapps and i seem to get force closes with google talk. Do I need to do a wipe when I install these? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but it hasn't been asked yet.
EDIT: So apparently I was just getting some force closes. Obviously this is still experimental, I was able to do some chats on it now both outgoing and incoming.

Yes, I tapped my name to check it. It was already checked. Also on my girls device.
Now we both can initiate video calls but we can't receive then. If I video call her, on her device it automatically just gives her a message saying that she missed my video call because she wasn't on wifi. Same thing on my side when she calls me. Even though we both have the modified talk apk that allows it to work ove cellular data it still giving us that message.
So far I've tried all methods and modified talk apks and none have worked.

Since you live in Ireland, use a webtext app from the market. Such as; Cabbage or TextDroid.
Just login with your details.
I presume you are using some irish network?
Meteor, o2, vodafone etc....

I think that's a typo, though I agree it is confusing. Afaik you can only send SMS/MMS with a working SIM card. Since the WIFI only version doesn't have a SIM slot (trust me, I checked ) I think it is impossible to send SMS/MMS with the WIFI only version.
You can, however, install Google Hangouts and send instant messages to your Google contacts. I think Hangouts is very promising and could be replacing Whatsapp for me when it becomes more widely used. It also backs up your conversations in the cloud which is a big :good: for me personally.

What makes the LTE version not able to make phone calls? Is the a hardware limitation? Or a custom firmware would manage to do it?
Hangouts (and even Talk, actually) have a pretty good sync with desktop app, which is crucial for me. And I agree, the cloud history is also a big plus.
Thanks and greetings.

Any body can help / clarify?
EDIT: data connection is solved. APN was not configured at all. Will finally be enabled the voice call on this tablet? (any cooked rom?)
Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased an unlocked Sony Xperia SX SO-05D and am using it outside of Japan. I am not able to send or receive any MMS messages. I have updated the APN settings so that I'm able to get on the internet via data. When I go to the settings in the messaging app there's not even any options/setting for MMS like there was on my Xperia go. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for your help or suggestions.

Check the specs of your SX and make sure they are compatible with all the bands that your provider uses.

Yea already checked that. I'm able to get on the internet no problem and the APN settings are as per the carrier. However the option for the attachments doesn't even show up in when writing texts. And if people send me MMS messages I don't receive them. However if I use a third party app like FB Messenger or whatsapp I'm able to.
