After a year of trying to find a working Gamepad for non rooted Evo 3D, this popped up out of nowhere.
*Gamestop. com, search "Tablet Wireless Bluetooth Controller"
Went to my local GS and picked it up for $40. It worked perfectly for my Evo 3D and my Galaxy Tab 10.1! Emulator mapping was perfect, already set up for Shadowgun and Sonic CD and a few others. This and an MHL adaptor just made me a happy Evo 3D owner. Hope this helps anyone who was stumped like I was but didn't want to root.
Nice find. I have been wondering myself. I am rooted, but all I ever saw was you needed to be on cm7 to use them.
Evo 3D taking it to Redline V2!

Good find OP, will definitely be getting this, no more having to dual boot to a AOSP ROM just to play emulators with my Wiimote!
So this one right here?

Yep, that's the one. They had plenty at my GS so I'm sure they have them at most of them too.
I picked up that Gamestop gamepad as well and it's working great with my EVO 3D running Infected ROM 1.4.2. Hooked it up to my LCD TV with my MHL adapter and now I have a complete NES system with every single game ever available all in my little phone. Brings back so many memories. Great find!
I bought one of these as well online, the problem I ran into is that the left analog stick is inverted and changing the settings in game doesn't solve the problem. What I mean is that with the left analog stick up and down movements registers as left and right and vice versa.
With an emulator I can assign the stick the right way but the listed movement is still wrong, but with a game such as ShadowGun I can't map the controller. Did any of you guys experience this problem? I called Gamestop and they said I could bring it back to the store for a swap or refund. Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much for the info...
Now shut up and take my money
seriously how i can get one of them here in Mexico wha
I purchased one of these from their online store. It works with my E3D and my touchpad running android. I have a little problem with occasional lag (like it takes a split second to wake up the button). Anyone else having that problem? Maybe i need send it back for a replacement?

Same issue here, it seems like the controller is programmed for portrait gaming, the controller is offset 90 degrees when you go to play a landscape game. Wish there was an app that would run and allow for mapping of the controls or at least rotate the axis's with the phone.
I have to give this a try, thanks.
I have a rooted Stock Evo V 4G
And i want to say that the Moga works as well (it should work on non-rooted too)
Both the Pilot app works with officially supported games and the universal driver with some other games that support controllers
GTA 3 - yes
Sonic 4 ep1, deadspace - no
Those however require root, without root the analog will act as d-pads which can still be used on emulators! :good:
Got the GS Controller...
Went out and got the GS Controller after I read the great news, unfortunately I can't get it to work with my Evo V. The bluetooth turns on and discovers the "GS Controller" and pairs, but it says connecting... for a split second and then just shows as a paired device. When I tap the paired device it says "touch any key to reconnect keyboard"
Does your phone display "connected" under GS Controller?
Not sure if it matters but two of the controller's LEDs (green & blue) blink until I press a button on the gamepad, after just paired.
I am back on the stock VM Rom and HBoot 1.5757
I am just an old school gamer trying to play up on the big screen mobile style. Sorry if I missed any info...thanx in advance for any help!

So you just need to pair them up and i works? Since you are unrooted, you cannt run sixaxis compatibility checker....
picked up version 2 of this (red samurai), works out-of-the-box, as a bluetooth keyboard in pacman rom 21.0 (with the switch in back set to 'k') on an evo 3D
getting it to work on a stock evo V, not quite so simple...
@Venturesploring i had the same issue of it pairing, but not connecting, i don't know if this will work on version 1 or not, but what i did to get it to work with stock ICS was install "Bluez IME" from the play store, then within the page's description download and install "HID Enabler" (link near the bottom), then when in 'bluez IME Settings', choose "keyboard (HID)" for 'select device driver'
Nice.. must try.. thanks
thank you very much for this, been looking for something like it
Updated game list on GameStop's Web page
Gamestop Red Samurai
I saw GameStop updated the new Bluetooth controller's web page with more games list that works with the controller. I know The Bard's Tale works also. Make sure the controller is in "G" (gamepad mode) on the back of the controller!

Has anybody managed to get any decent console emulators working as i have tried fpse and psx4droid and both force closed as soon as you begin playing also does anybody know how to get the 3d stick port to work with a usb keyboard?
FPSE works for me, also Super GNES works for SNES games.
I have about 8 PS1 games that I play on my 101 G9, and a few dozen SNES games (I can't seem to let the classics go).
I've never tried PSX4Droid before though, so I can't comment on how that one works.
I've used Nesoid, works well with keyboard via usb-otg.
Also i've tried Mupen for emulating nintendo64, but didn't try to use it with external keyboard.
Sorry for my lousy English.
I have tried on my Archos 80 G9 250 gb Mame emulator with success and even with usb joypad support and also Amiga uae , both play fine .

All classic (8-16 bit) Yonghz's emultors work fine, however on-screen controls don't look good- they were designed for MDPI or HDPI displays.
I didn't manage to get psx4droid or fpse to work- they don't like .img or .bin files.
As for 3g stick USB port- IMO this would require system modification, I can't say how deep.
BTW- this topic should be posted in General forums, not Developement.
Didnt see a gen 9 general only gen 8

Did it work when plugged to "3g port"? IIRC Archos claims that only stick will work there

I'm using the newest version of fpse, not sure what the version number is. I purchased the app, so I just update in the market whenever it has an update.
I just added Breath of Fire 3 to my G9 101. I ripped it from the disc using Alcohol 120%. I don't trust downloaded Playstation games, so I always rip my own from my collection.
Runs at 60fps constantly, no slow-down on any of the games I play. Occasionally I'll drop to about 55-56fps on Legend of Legaia when I have a big battle going on and I use certain special attacks (lots of 3D graphics going on).

I wonder if a problem you're having has to do with the bios that you're using? I'm using a bios that I made myself quite some time ago that I use on my phones. I just used the same bios for my G9 101 and haven't had any problems.
I have the latest version and have tried silent hill and tekken 3 with various bios files and all force close when using touch screen, I havent tried controller yet but whats the point in having something this portable if you have to plug a controller in
Hmm, I don't have either of those games, so I can't test them. Any other games you guys are having trouble with?
My games that work so far are:
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy Tactics
Gangway Monsters
Legend of Legaia
Legend of Mana
Tales of Destiny
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 9
Legend of Dragoon
Breath of Fire 3
Breath of Fire 4
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Chrono Cross
Final Fantasy Anthology
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Final Fantasy Origins
Metal Gear Solid
Dragon Warrior 7
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Brave Fencer Musashi
Legend of Mana
Threads of Fate
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue
Xenogears
Ogre Battle
***Red games indicate games that take a slight hit to the fps during large events, or big elaborate battes.
These are all ripped from my own private collection using Alcohol 120%. There are others, I just haven't ripped them yet.

could you tell me where you got it as I cant find a version that works any better
I can confirm the latest version of FPse from the market works. It says v0.11.11.
Ok this is the first time I've ever posted a topic on here so please bare with me! I'm trying to attempt somewhat of a walk through for people who would like to use a PS3 controller with touch screen games for the Touchpad. I might just be crazy (and believe me that's possible), but I just can't get enough of playing games and emulators on my Touchpad using my ps3 controller! I use an app called Sixaxis Controller by Dancing Pixel Studios, and I bought it on the Market. I've had it for almost a year now, so I can't tell you how much it is, but it's worth it's weight in gold imo! (I have absolutely nothing to do with developing or selling this app whatsoever, so ALL credit goes to Dancing Pixel Studios just to clarify!) This app makes it possible to almost completely control your Touchpad (or android phone) using a Sixaxis or a Dualshock 3 controller. From what I've read it does NOT work with after market ps3 controllers, but I also cannot say that for sure because I haven't tried one myself. (if you are successfully using an after market controller with it please let us know, because it would be nice to know which ones work if it's even possible). For example I basically use my Android phone as my "car stereo", and I have a windshield mount that I place it in when I'm driving. With the Sixaxis Controller app, I use my ps3 controller as the "remote", so L1 and R1 = Volume Down and Volume Up...L2 and R2 = Previous Track and Next Track...Start = Pause/Play...Select = Menu...Square = Answer call...Triangle = Hang-up call...Cross = Enter...and so on. I can also use the analog sticks to navigate through my home screens and then select whatever app I'd like to use by hitting enter (cross). As far as emulators go it's pretty straightforward, so usually all you have to do is set up the key bindings within the emulator settings, and then you can use the ps3 controller to play all of your old games.
What really makes it a great app for the Touchpad (imo), is that it allows you to setup "touch profiles" for games that have touch screen controls. (ie. Modern Combat 3, GTA3, Shadowgun, Asphalt 6 and so on) This allows you to "map" any button on your ps3 controller, to any touch screen control in a game. So for example pressing the R2 button on your ps3 controller can actually emulate touching the "fire" button on the screen with your finger. I've started this topic for people who might be interested in using a ps3 controller with their games, and so hopefully the people who are interested can share their "touch profiles" that they've created. I've messed around with a touch profile for Modern Combat 3 for long enough that it's become almost like "console experience" on the Touchpad, so if you're interested I've included all of the pictures of the setup. I'm also working on GTA 3, Alsphalt 6, and Dead Zone, and I'll definitely share them when I get finished, if anyone would be interested. If you have any that you've done feel free to share them also, because I'm sure there's still a lot that I'm missing. It's not 100% perfect, and there's still a handful of things that will require a screen touch, but overall I think it's close to playing a first person shooter on a ps3. (if you're open minded anyway LOL)
The first thing you have to do is get the Sixaxis Controller app from the Market, and follow their directions to pair your ps3 controller to your Touchpad (It's WAY easier than you'd think). Then just follow the basic steps below to create a "touch profile" for whatever game you want to use your ps3 controller with. Even though I'm using MC3 as and example, it's still the same concept (basically) for most touch screen games. Keep in mind that I am using CM9a2 on my Touchpad, and I'm also using a "custom" build.prop for better game compatibility (you can find it in the development section). Another thing to remember is that when you create a touch profile for a game, you will have to "switch" back and forth between the game and the Sixaxis Controller app quite often. I use the "recent apps" button to the right of the home button on the bottom bar, after I have opened Sixaxis Controller and the game. It's an awesome feature that really makes it easy for quick adjustments to your touch profile. If you have any questions let me know and I'd be happy to help out the best I can.
Here's the touch profile I created for MC3 using the Sixaxis Controller app, and each of the buttons properties. You basically need to line up the MC3's touch controls with the touch profiles buttons you create in the Sixaxis Controller app. I've noticed on a lot of games that in order to get to "customize controls", you have to start playing a level first and then pause it and go into options. For some reason if you hit settings when you first load some games, "customize controls" won't be available. Also if you don't like how the controls are set up, you can obviously change them around to your own liking. At least if anything this can be a starting point for people who have never done this. I'll also list what each ps3 button corresponds to and things you need to remember when using the Sixaxis Controller app at the bottom.

Completed Touch Profile (I named it MC3)
Right Analog Properites - Make sure you check "Relative Touch"
Left Analog Properties - Make sure you max out "Sensitivity"
Dpad Right Properties - This sensitivity works the best in my opinion
Dpad Left Properties - This sensitivity also works very well
This is how the customized touch screen controls for MC3 look when matched with the touch profile
Here's what it all basically translates to when using the ps3 controller to play MC3..
R1 = Scope On/Off
R2 = Fire
Circle = Run
Triangle = Crouch/Stand up
Square = Throw Grenade
L&R Dpad = Cycle Weapons
Start = Pause Game
Cross = Resume Game (while paused)
L1 = Restart mission (whenever you're killed)/Throw back grenade/Breach
R3 = Knife (when it's required)
L3 = Pick up Weapon/Detonate C4
Left Analog = Walk (all directions)
Right Analog = View (all directions)
**Things to remember when creating a touch profile in the Sixaxis Controller app**
-To create a new touch profile using the Sixaxis Controller app, hit Menu - Preferences - Touch Emulation - Edit Touch Profiles
-Double tap anywhere to bring up the touch profile menu (or just do what it says LOL)
- I start off by adding a few common ps3 buttons that I'm sure I'll use with the game, and build from there.
- When you add buttons they all get placed in the exact same spot, so when you're setting it up it's easier to drag them out of the way first so you can see them all
- To bring up a buttons properties (like sensitivity), double tap on the button and hit "Button Properties"
- You can make anolog buttons bigger to cover more touch screen area (like I did with the Left Analog button for MC3), because it helps to stop the on-screen controller from jumping around. Just tap the analog button that you created once, then drag the ring that pops up around it "outward"
- Make sure you save your touch profile after you make any changes, or they won't stick. To save the profile you're creating, double tap anywhere and then tap "Save Profile". I just name it the same as the game it's for (ex. MC3). Doing this makes it really easy to choose which profile you want for the game you want to play!
- When you're ready to try the touch profile you've created with your game, MAKE SURE THAT YOU SAVE THE PROFILE you're creating FIRST, and then hit - Back - "OK" - Back - Back. That should take you back to the main screen of Sixaxis, and under "Change IME" you should see "Active Touch Profile". Tap the box to the right that says "None", and change it to the touch profile you just created (ex. MC3)
- You can create a touch profile for pretty much any game that uses touch screen controls using the same method. When you want to play an emulator or control your Touchpad, make sure the "Active Touch Profile is set to "NONE".
- Again don't forget to save the profile anytime you make any changes
- Before you play a game, pair the ps3 controller to your Touchpad, and make sure you select the correct "Active Touch Profile" for the game you want to play.
- Whenever you make changes to your touch profile and save them, it's not necessary to go back and re-select your "Active Touch Profile" on the main screen, as long as it was already selected prior to making the changes and saving them. The changes will carry over automatically
- You should only have to change the "Active Touch Profile" if you create a new profile, rename an existing profile, or if you want to use a different profile for a different game
- The touch profiles that you create and save are located at - sdcard/data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller/profiles/ (Huge thanks to BlackDave for this one because I clean forgot about it!)
- The saved touch profiles should have the extension .map or possible .key (ex MC3.map)
It's possible that I'm forgetting something, but I hope this helps at least somebody out.
I've played through and beat MC3 using the ps3 controller and it's a blast. It's extremely close to playing a first person shooter on ps3 and I'm pretty happy with it overall. I am more than convinced it's worth the small amount of time it takes to set it up.
If someone wouldn't mind explaining to me how to upload something other than a photo, I'll also include the actual touch profile's I've created. Thanks

Hello. I would like to thank you for posting this tutorial on how to play MC3 on my HP touchpad.
At first the game couldn't be played but I changed the build prop to match my EVO 3D and now it runs just fine.
I would also like to point out that every touch profiles that you save in the sixaxis app can be found in:
sdcard/data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller/profiles/
You can then upload the files online for ease of share.
I have uploaded two profiles in this post: Batman for Onlive app, and Modern Combat 3.
Extract the .rar files and place them into sdcard/data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller/profiles/
I created the profile for Modern Combat 3 based on your tutorial, except I changed some buttons around to a similar setting to the COD games on my PS3.
L1: Aim
R1: Fire
Left Analog: Move
Right Analog: Camera
L2: Pick up weapon/action
L3: Run
R3: Knife
Circle: Crouch
Square: Grenades
Triangle: C4
Start: Pause
Of course you still have to make the appropriate changes in the MC3 games to match the input of the controller.
I will try to make more profiles for different games when I have the time. For now, enjoy these two.
Edit: I have added four more games:
-Asphalt
-Aftermath Xmas HD
-Illusia
-Age of Zombie
I plan on adding the instructions for each games soon but right now I have to got to work.
I also plan on adding the Zenonia Series (1-->3) very soon.

Awesome post man!! Good call on adding the touch profile save location on the sd card, I completely forgot about that! I hope it works out for ya man and I will definitely try yours out shortly. Let me know how it works out for ya overall, and if you come up with some more ideas that could help improve it. I also have some that I've made for GTA3 and Asphalt 6 that I'll share here shortly. I'm also sending you a pm just so ya know cause I have a question for ya..Thanks again bro I was happy to see your post because that's exactly what I was trying to get going for this topic!

Can you post the changes you made to the build.prop file?..........having trouble getting mc3 working (even though Asphalt, and ShadowGun work perfectly).....
I'm not sure exactly what his would be for an evo, but if it helps my ro.product.name and ro.product.model are both set to SGH-T989 I haven't had any issues with games so far other than Dead Space which says "Server Error" every time I try to download the extra data. I haven't had a chance yet but I'm going to copy my data from my phone over to my Touchpad and see if it at least plays (it should hopefully). Hope it helps out!

Hey did this also get you passed the "server error" problem with dead space? (or ea games in general) Either way I'm also gonna give this a shot so thanks for the info for sure. The only reason I'm asking anyway is because I still haven't messed with Dead Space after I got the error, but last night I read something about having to use Chainfire along with all sorts of other stuff, just to get it working. I didn't look into though so just curious to see if it worked for you with only the build.prop edits. I'll definitely try it though just to see if I can get around the server error at least. Thanks again

Thanks man but really all of the credit goes to Dancing Pixel Studios for making such an awesome app for Android. I'm just trying to get the info out there for Touchpad owners because it really does make the games so much more fun (imo anyway). What's funny (and I hate to admit it) but I actually had the app forever before I even realized it could emulate touch! Hopefully this can at least help some people who might not have ever come across it, or even people like me who had the app but didn't realize it could even do that. That's a killer idea man about having game companies provide a downloadable controller profile, because how awesome would that be? Unfortunately though since it is such a killer idea it'll probably never happen LOL. You never know though it just depends on the amount of people who get into it and I'd definitely be one of them!

That's good to know at least because I tried the ones you posted and still no go. I didn't get that deep into it though but I did try restarting after making the changes and I also uninstalled the game and got it from the market again but I still get the server error. Maybe there's some other differences we have in our build props affecting it or something. You have any ideas on that? Worse case though obviously would be just having to copy data from phone, just haven't had the time. Thanks for the info though

Does anyone know how well this works with a non-Sony-brand PS3 controller? Specifically a generic one from Dealextreme... http://www.dealextreme.com/c/wireless-and-wired-controllers-612
Not to be a cheap-a**, but since it would be for super-casual use for me, I'd rather spend $15 than $30-40.
I have two Genuine Black Sony Controller and one Red PS3 controller I got from DX.
The red one works with the console (although it takes longer to connect to ps3 and such) but it won't pair to the tablet.
I cannot get my controller paired for the life of me....the sixaxis app says client connected:1 but the lights keep flashing then turn off

Hey guys, in this thread, the OP explains how to use the native gamepad support to play games like shadowgun and gta III without using a touch profile (which is a lot more accurate also).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473276
I tried shadowgun and the game is actually now. I couldn't play it using the touch profile for some reason so this is a neat solution
Good evening, ladies and gents of XDA! I'm new to the forums so please forgive me if I'm crossing some lines. I've attempted to look for a similar problem not only on XDA, but through Google as well, but have turned up with no luck. Without further adieu, this is the issue I'm having:
I've read that the Transformer Prime natively supports the Wireless XBox 360 controller. Unfortunately for me, this does not seem to be the case. The buttons do work as I can navigate through the menu with my joystick and the green ring around the menu button flashes (which I'm told is also supposed to happen unless I have the Joystick Center 5 app).
Despite my tablet being able to read my controller, the button mappings are all out of whack. I tried playing OnLive with it and none of the buttons aside for the joystick does what it's supposed to do. I've tried restarting my tablet, but this was met with no avail. I've even purchased the aforementioned Joystick app, but remapping the buttons was unsuccessful. Does anyone know why this "native support" isn't kicking in for me?
I had the same problem, Android supports the controller but most of the games seem not to. I had the official 360 wireless controller with the official wireless receiver, and could only use it for navigating homescreens, icon by icon. Couldn't even go to the next homescreen without first highlighting everything along the way
PS3 one works perfectly on the 2 games I have that I know about them using the controller: GTA3 and Shadowgun.

emus
If you want a good site for emu go to roms4droid.com many emus a bunch that are free & roms galore. Plus the community is great. Never had an issue with any of them. though i have only tried the free ones.
Emulators that I use that all work great:
Fpse (ps1)
Gameboid (gba)
N64oid (n64)
Nesoid (nes)
Snes A.D. (snes)
Most of these can be found on roms4droid.com
You need a bios file for Gameboid and Fpse which are also available at roms4droid.

I couldnt get FPSE to run for me. FCs on me everytime Played this religiously on my Atrix 2...
I pretty much use only the "Oid" emulators. I've tried a couple of different SNES ones, but SNESoid is the best. Just be sure to turn on "Core C" option or whatever it is. That will allow games like Actraiser and Mario RPG to run correctly.
I had problems with FPSE also, but it was the BIOS I was using. For some reason the copy of 1001 I had wasn't right. Someone here linked me to the copy on roms4droid and it has worked ever since. FPSE isn't without its shortcomings though... but it's the best thing available for PS1.
good thread idea... I was actually going to post the walkthroughs that I wrote up a while back.
I use N64Oid, and FPse mainly, and i forgot what NES I used to use (its not isntalled anymore). My favorite part of everything was using my PS3 controller, since it worked seemlessly with FPse, and worked very well with N64Oid.
Once again, NFC works its magic.

When I tap my phone to the controller:
1. SixAxisController app/server is launched
2. Input method prompts so that you can choose SixAxisController
3. a custom Emulators Selection menu appears, allowing you to choose FPse, N64oid, or my NES emulator. (created in Tasker)
all with a single tap Tap it again, and it closes all services, puts the input back to SwiftKey, and returns home. I <3 NFC.

FPse can be a pain in the ass.
1) open FPse, agree to save BIOS, then load the BIOS through the file browser.
2) hit back to not load an ISO, keep going back until you get to a menu.
3) choose Audio, then check SPU sync.
4) go back, choose Misc, then select "Save config as default" (something like that).
5) go back until you get the menu option to quit, then quit the app.
6) start FPse, hopefully it should ask you for an ISO, not the BIOS. try loading your FF7 ROM. It will read bin/cue just fine.
Bump, need to read up on this

TOUCH PROFIL Tutorial
Here's a simple way to create TOUCH PROFIL for Ur game do u want :good:
I hope you can understand my writing this
-> take ur game screenshot for define whrere the touch button are. (i.e. Inotia 4 for this tutorial)
-> create a new touch profile using the Sixaxis Controller app, Press Menu > Preferences > Touch Emulation > Edit Touch Profiles
-> Double tap anywhere then will show popup the touch profile menu.
-> Tap 'Change Background then select the screenshot where it save. rotate the background if that wrong.
-> first i begin to make analog touch. Press Menu > Add Button then locate the 'Analog_Left' here.
U can make analog buttons bigger to cover more touch area. tap the analog button that u created once, then drag the 'Green' ring that popsup around it outward.
To bring up a buttons properties (like sensitivity), tap on the button then Press Menu, see 'Button Properties'.
-> once completed, follow this way to make the other buttons. (this's my personal reference).
-> make sure U save Ur touch profile after U make any changes. To save the profile, double tap anywhere and then tap 'Save Profile'. i name it the same as the game for(i.e. inotia). FINISH !!!
-> back to the main screen of Sixaxis. Before U play game, pair the PS3 gamepad to Ur phone. then U should see 'Active Touch Profile'. Tap the box 'None' and change it to the touch profile U just created (inotia)
LETS PLAY.......
-> U can create a touch profile for many any game that uses touch screen controls. just take screenshot on Ur game do U want create, then follow my tutorial above
-> The touch profiles that U create and save are located at '/sdcard/data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller/profiles/'. touch profiles should have extension *.map (i.e. inotia.map)

dont have any report yet?

many ppls have experienced that.
try to repeat carefully, step-by-step.
connect ur gamepad to ur comp, see the bluetooth address, its already match or not.
next step, when u press "start" on sixaxis app, DONT press PS button (power) until show "driver starting....".
press ps button when its show "Touch emulation (type A) bla bla bla bla....".
its worked on almost every phone i had test on my friend's device (galaxy tab 7+, Xperia X8, iconia tab).
i already tested when i want connect my gamepad, i pressed ps button and "start" on the app at the same time, it not work.
take note, i realize that chance of fake/imitation PS3 controller to be working is 50%.
if u lucky, u can have cheap sixaxis pad worked on ur phone.
