Well theres a apk in /system/app/DioDict_for_Android_LG_Swift_India.apk
permissions 0644(rw,r,r)
and theres a static library /system/lib/libDioDictEngineNative.so
and i think there was a dictionary database in the bundled mmc (a foolder called edictionary) /sdcard/
COpy these files to the directories listed above and voila! your dictionary is back
ROOT UR PHONE ,INstall ROOT explorer ,copy files, set permissions and it worked on my megatron ROM... thought might as well share it...
NOTE: If u took the NANDroid backup of your phone before installing customised ROM ...u can always extract the files mentioned above by using unyaffs.exe http://www.filecrop.com/search.php?w=unyaffs&size_i=0&size_f=100000000&engine_r=1&engine_m=1&engine_h=1
and use the system.img in your nandroid backup folder
didnt make nandroid before flashing ....
Well then look for it on filecrop.com
Can you attach the .so file here?

Hello everyone!
Here is a zip that contains all the files needed to make Diodict Dictionary work on custom roms (or any rooted phone):
mediafire[.com]/?umr5xvhze4wa5rc (remove "[" and "]" from the link. I am not allowed to post links yet.)
1. It contains the DioDict apk file which is in the "TitaniumBackup" folder. You can also use TitaniumBackup to restore it by placing the folder at the root of your sdcard.
2. It contains "libDioDictEngineNative.so" which you must place in system/lib folder. You will need 'root' and 'write to system folder' permissions for this. Not a big deal if you're on a custom rom.
3. It contains the databases for "Collins Cobuild Advanced", "Oxford Advanced Learners" and "StarPublications ENG-HIN" in the "edictionary" folder. You must place this folder at the root of your sdcard. The first two "Collins Cobuild Advanced" & "Oxford Advanced Learners" are awesome english dictionaries which will work offline. I don't know what the third one ("StarPublications ENG-HIN") is.
Let me know if any issues. Click thanks if I helped.
And @ccreadcc: Where is my ozone wifi pass? kidding....
Everything worked except that i was not able to paste the file.I am on CM7.
I use root explorer:
"you cannot paste here the file system is read-only"
I tried to edit the permission but say"some file do not allow permission changes"
Please Help
solution
Mount /system as writable
I don't know about Root explorer. I use ES File Explorer. In ES Explorer under Settings> Root Settings> Check both the options and you'll be able to paste the file there.
i had 2 wifi passes unused.. wonder where i put it xD
i just did !
i got success to install this on official 2.3 rom
just copy "libDioDictEngineNative.so" to system/lib folder
after that install com.diotek.diodict2.swift_india-a1c589b5691365fa3b910b4435b6d4ec.apk as u install other software .
it works for me !
thanks !!

I've created an independent app and have a video on the app that i sourced from the root folder. Problem is for some reason whenever i load the file from my usb onto my archos and select "move" it won't let me "paste" it into the root file, it just doesn't give me that option.
Anyone have any idea what I could do?

The root "/" is read-only. Now the question is WHY would you want to use the root folder to store files?
ok well i guess i should have clarified, i am working with a developer to create an app. He's coding it, i'm designing layout and images etc and he placed video in the root file on his archos 101 and told me to test it on my unit by putting video file in the root folder. He told me it's working on his end and sent me a vid, but i can't seem to paste it so he sent me here to inquire

Well tell him it's impossible to place files in the root "/" of a non rooted (Android) archos device. The only way to do that is to install the sde and install something like UrkDroid.
But the question remains WHY? There is never a good reason to place files in the root "/" of an android device.
well i guess that is a fair question, i guess i will have to ask him
So I've been searching the q and a section for a while now to see if anyone else was having the same issue as myself. I am trying to apply the gtabroot.zip in recovery mode but I can't get the .zip to show up when I choose apply. I try to move the file to the root folder but still nothing. What am I not doing correctly?

I'm not rooted yet but from looking at this video, the guy has pasted the file into the 'Tablet' folder after browsing within Kies.
Edit: Perhaps it's advisable that you watch the whole in case the method isn't quite the same as the one you're trying.

I looked through the market and couldnt find anything. Dont know if it even exists but is there a file manager out there that give the option to display audio files my their title instead of by their filename?
As far as I know, no such feature yet in any File Explorer!
But you can change their File Name to their Title with iTag.

what the hell is this file (.thmbdata3) in sd card>dcim>thumbnails.each time i free some space on my sd card ,this file getting bigger and take all the space (sd card becomes full).i dont have that much photos on gallary,so what is the problem???
gt i9000
ics4.0.4dark knight rom 5.5
i added a screenshot to see in attachment
it looks like nobody knows what am i talking about .....i think im going to flash a new rom again
i also have 2 .thumbdata files of 200 MB each in my /DCIM/.thumbnail folder
maybe it`s a bug since i only have few pictures in my phone
Think thats bad!
Think that's bad. I have two thumbdata's both at 2gb each!
My partners Xperia S still had all her old thumbnails in her album even though she has deleted most of her pictures. So I googled how to remove them, the best solution I've found is go into settings, apps, all, media storage and erase the data. When I try to test it on mine the data is only a few mb. No where near 4gb!
Still I'll let you know if I find out.
its like an temp folder on windows, android makes an virtual protokoll from files and something, you can delete these file but its come back ever,i delete these file every day, because im addicted to flash, lol and i haved never problems.so delete it,its safe(my opinion).greeeeeetz
the best solution i found my self is: delete the big file thumbsdata and then never run the stock camera app,if you run it ,the file will be generated again consuming all your free space(me becomes 0 bites free :crying.......of coarse i cannot live without a camera app so i installed fx camera app.... it is good now but if i turn fx cam to video mod the problem comes again(it uses the stock camera app for video ,but not for photos),,,,,so i will not use video record option, until some hero comes with a fix
Yeah! That's it!

Just copy names of that files (thumbdataX--x), delete that files and other files in folder, then create folders named the same as deleted thumdatas. Reboot device. No annoying thumbdata3 (my spend 2Gb) anymore! And look in folders named LOST.DIR (you can find it in the root directory of your internal memory and your SDcard) - huge temporary files may be left in these folders, so delete these files.
Tested on Toshiba Thrive Tablet (ICS). No problems with gallery and camera apps.

new FOLDER with the same name as thumbdata-file
Untile now this works.i dont see any thumpsdata files.

Solution works!
In my opinion that file was related with pic preview directly from camera app, when you click on little thumbnail.
When I deleted it, camera stopped working and that thumbnail was blank until file was recreated, then it worked again (with 2GB pictures and a 2.74GB .thumbdata!)
Now creating the folder with the same name of file stopped that huge file from recreating himself.
I think camera now refers directly to thumbnail files (in thumbnails folder) for preview. Or, if not, that's the same because now I have 2.74GB more on my internal SD!
Yes this is a camer app problem(or bad feature:banghead: ) it takes space more than the photos itself....anyway this is the only way right now to fix it.

I have tried this but seem failed
I created the directory with a dot infront
and the folder seem to be fail to created
So I trying another method is using Root explorer
and change the permission to remove all write permission on that thumbdata file
Let see which one works
Hi!
This solution did work but the free memory in my sd card is almost the same as before. And moreover my stock gallery app cant be opened since it says free up some memory. I am using xperia z gallery as my substitute.

@einst31n Maybe there is another thing eating yor memory...try "folder size" for windows, it is a tool that arrange all folders in size and give you a statistic figure.
