battery drain issue - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Sometimes, in idle mode mode, my phone drained battery very quickly (see picture). The best way to meet this case is restart phone, everything is back to normal. And battery life very good on idle mode, about 3-4 hours for 1%
I have tried many ways but can not find the cause. Please help me.
I use stock room .62

You are not stock.... you have something misbehaving. Suggest you think carefully about the tweaks, mods, widgets and apps you deploy. And your settings, like WiFi screen off and so on. This is stock .62...

I'm not sure you're interpreting the graph correctly. The drop from 70% - 50% seems to happen much faster than the area you have circled in the screenshot.

I use the "stock room" and remove bloatware. Root by "root xperia", unlockbootloader.
battery 70% - 50% drop faster because i use wifi for web browser.
list bloatware.

I see. Have you tried Juice Defender? The paid version is excellent!

You may therefore have a crappy app running after browsing... which I haven't as you can see from my curve. What app are you using for browsing?
Avoid "fix-it" widgets like you have and any task killers.... let Android do its thing. It works.

I use default web browser.

Hmmm... so do I. I've just run the browser for a few minutes and closed it. I will check the battery status shortly and report.
How did you update to .62? I did it like this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20842024&postcount=45
... to avoid "issues" due to flashing over previous builds.

No problem several hours after using Browser...
Also check that the phone is deep sleeping.... other image attached

I have this problem from fw .283, .42 and now .62. I have tried "Force Stop" a few applications running, but have not found cause.
And I will try by installing the new fw .62 and do not delete anything including bloatware.

I have the same problem for fw 0.42.
I had problem with 0battery lvl so I follwed this tut to alteast get the phone working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332399
Now I can use the phone without the charger but after 2-3hours the phones dies and needs recharging. Can't find the problem. :/

Today, I switch from "2G" to "3G" to browse the web. And after return to idle mode, battery drained very fast.
When switch to flight mode, all back to normal (2mA on idle mode).
I think a problem in 3g/2g modes.

Story continues....62 stock (rooted)
Linear discharge
PS: Just noticed that you have a history of "Battery Drain" going back to October... with all sorts of weird builds. Perhaps you should avoid installing loads of half-baked apps and widgets. And builds.

[Q] need help with terrible battery life

I am having some terrible battery life problems - will upload the screenshot of battery monitor widget history when i get the photo
I am getting -41mA to -29mA overnight when I'm asleep. Is the phone awake or something? This is really strange, unless my battery is broken?
1. Was on VR2.4.2 but bad battery life
2. Re-ODIN'd to KH3 firmware
3. cleared cache/data/dalvik
4. Re-installed VR2.4.2 via SD card in CWM
5. Now on KH3 mode, VR 2.4.2 and ninpho 2.0.4
Can someone help me out please ?
I just installed Juice Defender and see how it goes

mate this wont show us the main problem.
if u are rooted - u may try following. just advice - cook your ROM through kitchen KH3 and pick only apps that u gonna need and try it. KH3 + speedmod kernel is working just amazing. no drain - no issue.
for battery usage i will recomend u to use betterbatterystats application that is published here on XDA - that app is able to track wakelogs and much more - that will give you more less the idea what can produce the high battery drain.
second disable fast dormacy -*#9900#
uncheck samsung apps notification
and there are much mroe options for you but this are the ones i could remeber right now.
What logs would you need?
I've read in the Litening forum, some guy said when the phone is idle/sleep , it should do about loss of 2-10mA
I used to get 3% loss overnight, not sure what changed. I dont have many apps/mods either
disable fast dormacy and use the juice defender. if u wont be satifsfied change ROM and compare yourself mate.
find the betterbatterystats app and install it - if u can read then u can find the problem yourself - believe me
If you're using Viber, I recommend you to freeze it with Titanium Backup. I was out of juice after maximum 6 hours of moderate usage. After freezing Viber I get over 50% battery left with 15-16 hours of moderate usage.

[Q] Deep Sleep vs 200mhz and the epic battle for battery life...

I just checked with CPU Spy and found that my phone is sitting at min processor speed 58% of the time. Deep sleep is under 18%. Could this be the reason my battery life is so terrible?
Little background, I ran stock for 15 minutes (literally, in the AT&T store and in the car on the way to office). I followed this tutorial to get stock + root and made a glorious nAndroid backup.
That worked, but of course now I have the Yellow triangle on boot. Should have followed creepyncrawly's Guide How to Flash Custom Binaries Without Ever Incrementing the Flash Counter (but of course hind sight is 20/20). JIG has been ordered, on its merry way.
Next step was to follow Atinm's instructions for installing CM7 nightly which includes instructions to flash a different version of CWM 5.0.2.3 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18052303
Ok... still with me? Simple enough. Ran CM7.1 for a week (it's great btw). Then I flashed another CWM from ROM Manager so I could easily run with the nightlies. But kept reading about UnNamed ROM, so let's try that out. Now I'm on 1.2 with Entropy's Daily Driver 11/03. But my battery drains pretty quick and I noticed my system isn't really going into Deep Sleep as it should.
I take it after all that, it is because I have facebook set to sync every 30 seconds? j/k Seriously though, here is my decidedly long apps list of Market apps. Anything troublesome in there? I turn off all automatic sync / notification features of Twitter, FB, Words with Friends. But I do use push email for Exchange and Gmail.
Here is the troublesome screengrab from CPU Spy that started my downward spiral.

So did I screw something up along the way? Should I just be happy I bought a second battery with charging dock?
same boat here....
This would drain your battery life when your screen is off, not on. I am still in the process of figuring out my wakelocks. Strangely it would appear my JuiceDefender is unlocking my phone. Maybe that's normal when it is turning my wifi/data off.
I check everything manually, so typically I just turn off wifi/data in the UnNamed notification bar. Same with bluetooth/gps.
Note that deep sleep percentages are invalid if any of that time was on-charger time.
It's gotta be an app using a wake lock that is screwin me over. Some light reading:
[REF] Known identified battery drainers
...and here I thought I had searched the forum!
To be fair, I thought maybe I screwed up the radio or kernel by following the ODIN instructions for gaining root and flashing CWM, but looks like that is just paranoia. More than likely one of the many MANY market apps.
GOing to use Titanium and freeze the apps in Entropy's thread, including Facebook. I like the desktop web view better anyway. And no, I don't need Notified every time someones cat is super cute. That is what MMS is for
Installing Better Battery Stats from XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Will see what I can do
Deep sleep seems to sip about 1/5 to 1/8 as much power when idle, so it's very important. Some voltage control apps break deep sleep mode. And like they said, better battery stats is the way to find wakelocking apps. My phone is pretty always in deep sleep when I'm not using it.
Exchange email sync wake lock was the culprit. Specifically, for some reason it was hung synching my corporate calendar and draining about 15% per hour.
Going to remove sync account and wipe app cache, re setup and cross fingers.
::edit:: actually looks like Google Music was syncing constantly also...

[Q] Please help with battery issue

I'm running ICS Passion with Kiss kernel 2.2 right now. My battery has always been iffy however, so i don't think it's the ROM.
I'd appreciate any help though:
This was last night. battery was fully charged at around 3 am.
I killed all apps.
by 11 am with very little use, it was down to 10%

When i look at the Top Apps, nothing looks like it's using too much CPU, so i'm not sure what's going on. Can anyone explain?
Why would i lose so much battery, when it looks like the phone was sleeping?
What am i missing here?
Thank you!
Have u tried a app call CPUSPY?
Its in the play store (android market)
That app let's u see if your phones really in deep sleep...
Hi krackerjac,
Thanks for the advice. I installed CPU Spy this morning....
1000 MHz 7% 0.35.45
200MHz 89% 6.51.47
no deep sleep, even though i didn't use the phone mch all day.
System Panel shows a 100% drop in 8 hours.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
It should be on deep sleep most of the time. What background apps are you running?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
That's what I can't figure out. I think google sync is always on, From the Top Apps screen of System Panel, it seems that system and system processes are the highest consumers, but I'm not sure how else to tell?
Download Watchdog and see what apps are using your CPU. Also, turn off auto sync, as they might be keeping the phone awake by constantly trying to fetch new emails, contacts, etc.
Sent from my amazing G2x running Bionix Reloaded v1.4
I have Watchdog. it says Android System 5.4%, System UI 1.6%, Google Services Framework 1.0%. Everything else is below 1%
With auto-sync, is there a way to control this automatically. For example, i don't need autosync to operate between 1 and 7am, but want it to turn on again at 7am, and need it on the whole day so i can get my emails.

I don't think so, you can change the frequency of the fetching(updating) however. Or put the power control widget on your home screen and turn it on when you need to, and off when you don't.

Ugh, must've been a part of TouchWiz or LG's skin, because I cant find it off of the stock app.

Try the Icy Glitch Kernel and see if that helps with battery life.
Also, try the AOKP rom, its more or less the same thing as Passion, but works a lot better than Passion did, at least for me.
Ended up downloading an app called Better Battery Stats. Found that my GPS location provider was running down the battery. This was because the Beautiful Widgets was set to geolocation, and so gps was pretty much running all the time.
Much better battery life now.
Thanks for all your help!

[Q] Please help me with my battery consumption diagnosis

Ever since I installed JB (4.1.1) I have noticed a decrease in life. You probably heard this story before.
The native Battery consumption app shows Android OS uses most energy, followed by Device Idle.
So I installed BetterBatteryStats to have a look.
These screenshot is from this morning. Left the phone overnight untouched (from 12 am on).
Note:
My settings are the same as they were before the JB upgrade. And I use the phone the same way.
No Data Connection?
Why does it seems to be looking for a signal? Is that cell signal? I am in full signal area.
I use T-Mo and my area gets HSPA+.
I have Settings > Wireless and networks> Mobile Networks > Network Mode set to GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode). Leave is as is?
The second most energy consuming is WiFi. I always left is on before the upgrade. It probably always used this much but now it's worse?

Your android OS is consuming waaaaaaay to much power it should be between 7-12%. I'd reflash stock ROM and go from their buddy. Also, wipe your battery stats.

Thank you for responding.
What falls under Android OS?
I use a live wallpaper (Alive Wallpaper in the Play Store from http://alivewallpaper.co) and the screen is off when I am not using the phone.
Is the video wallpaper using power even when the phone is sleeping (or supposed to be)?
Edit: how do I reset my battery stats in the native app? There is no contextual menu.
Its just the processes that fall within android OS....stuff you have no control over

Do you did a battery recalibration? After flash a new ROM is a must.
Battery calibration using this method right?
1. Use your phone till it shuts off
2. Before charging it turn it back on and do it again.
3. With the phone off plug it in and recharge it overnight or atleast 6-8 hours.
4. Turn it on and and use Battery Calibration - by NĂ©Ma.
5. Use the phone till it dies again and then recharge and use phone as you normally would.

No, I have never done this.
Thank you for pointing it out.
i was about to start a new thread when i saw this so thought its best to post here. im having the same problem
here is the logcat from my phone. 8hours overnight and down to 41%!
merry christmas
You'd be better off writing in the BetterBatteryStats thread
Thanks. Yea I just have.

Disable Google now, will save loadsa battery
Sent via TCP/IP
Rather than disabling Google Now. Do this
Disable Maps, Whatsapp, Facebook. They all run in background. Use App Quarantine to quickly enable disable when issue required.
Enable mobile network location access.
Also restrict background data of apps that ate high in usage which could cause wake locks.
Google now knows where you are without Maps running, just NetworkLocationService under Google Services in running apps.
Use other battery conserving precautions in conjunction.
You could potentially go for days depending on your usage

Battery Draining and Charging

Hey guys im using this AOSP rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/orig-development/rom-saosp-project-t3228656 .
Since a few days my phone shows 75 % battery usage for "phone idle" and its charging extremely slow. when i use it while charging it even loses battery while still on ac .
Does deep sleep not work anymore? i uninstalled some apps i installed because i thought they might cause this but nothing changed. im trying to calibrate the battery now
but charging to 100 % takes like 12 hours even if i dont use my phone. Does anyone know what suddenly happened?
I have also noticed a constant battery drain since I got my phone a few days ago (I'm on the other AOSP rom on this forum, the one by susch19).
It appears to be common knowledge that MediaTek chips have wifi problems, preventing the wifi module to go to sleep when it should.
If that is your problem, you can see several long-running kernel wakelocks using Wakelock Detector, for example md1_cldma_peer and EINT - mine had been active for about 50% of the time during two days of stats collection.
I have just finished charging my phone to 100% and disabled wifi and will check the battery drain overnight and throughout the next day.
I am using that rom and no problem at all.
Use wakelock detector and greenify/uninstall all offending apps...
i think your are right about the kernel/wifi. here's a screen of wakelock detector.

No idea what those apps are but u should definitely greenify them or do something.
There is an app that switch off net and gps when screen is off with some conditions... don't remember the name.
this is the kernel how am i supposed to greenify it ? there are no apps causing this. i greenified all apps even uninstalled the most and still this battery drain. its probably like Xabin said and has sth to do with the wifi/kernel and the MediaTek chip having wifi problems, preventing the wifi module to go to sleep when it should.
Yep that's why I suggested a smart manager to switch off completely the radio when not in use. Google is your friend.
it is able to reenable radio time to time to catch up with emails or messages...
anyone suffering massive battery drain when using lightly? 15mins of simple browsing and youtube and it drains from 100 to 85%. Im on miui7 lhmmici 7.0.5.0
I was disappointed with the battery drain in miui, but it seems much improved since installing the AOSP Hybrid rom. Also doesn't seem to drain so much with screen on, though I've not quantified it.
Had same problems with wakelocks, but Greenify and Amplify module in Xposed have made a noticeable improvement. Occasionally get a 100% wakelock with aee_core_forwarder. Still not sure what causes it; haven't found a fix other than a reboot.
But overall, I'm satisfied with the battery life now.
