[Q] Need Help: Rooting the WoPad V7+ - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Chinese tablet that I need help rooting. It's this tablet linked (more like sectioned off) below...

(replace ** with tt)
The reason I'm trying to root this device is because its file structure is similar to some Samsung Galaxy devices where the SD card is shown as a shortcut in the internal storage, named "external_sd". I would like to install the SD files for Gameloft games to my external SD and right now the patcher isnt working properly for me. My last option is the app "GL to SD" and that requires a root. I would appreciate any help I can get. I've already tried a version of gingerbreak and all it did was install superuser yet I still have no root access

I can not vouch for other methods but I have rooted this tablet with SuperOneClick ver. 2.1.1. If you leave "Exploit" on "auto" and click "root" you will be pleasantly surprised. Took me two tries, but if you turn on usb debugging in settings and leave the screen timeout on 30min your golden. Happy rooting.... I'm also uploading a google apps zip file. I unzipped it and installed all the files in the corresponding places to get a working Android Market. I used Android Commander to move the files & install apk's. *NOTE* You need to install the apps in the "/sysem/app" folder in this order...
1. GoogleServicesFramework.apk
2. OneTimeInitializer.apk
3. SetupWizard.apk
4. Talk.apk
5. Vending.apk
6. Gmail.apk
7. Maps.apk
After... Restart, Connect to wifi, and launch Market. You will be prompted to sign in to google. Then you will see Market License blah blah blah...
*Use the attached zip not the one at the following link* But use this link as a guide if you need it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
Have fun.

****THIS METHOD WORKED FOR MY IMPRESSION 10 MODEL # i10-50, but UNTESTED by me on other models****
***EDIT*** Sorry guys... you were unlucky because I forgot something crucial.... THE DARN ADB DRIVER.... You will need to go into the device manager and right click the "Android" device with exclamation mark & click update driver. Search for the driver and point the installer to this folder should work on 32 & 64 bit if my edits are correct... Tested on 64 bit Windows 7.

Also when you install those "/system/app" files above use Android Commanders "Installer" and install them one at a time in the order above. AND AFTER YOU RESTART USE LAUNCHER AND NOT SETUP OR YOU CAN'T ACTIVATE YOUR WIFI.
I tried both methods,
SuperOneClick and Gingerbreak both did not work.
The table is running android 2.3.1.

Do you have usb debugging turned on, and did you use the latest version of SuperOneClick. For me it stalled when my screen timeout was to short and locked me out of my tablet when the screen cut off. Second time around it looked like it was going to fail, stalled and then prompted me to ok the install of busybox... etc etc. I am also running android 2.3.1 and it worked for me. Just have to keep trying till you get it.

I've also tried this on my husband's Impression 10 - same model i10-50. Can you give some details of how you rooted? What programs did you use besides Android Commander and SuperOneClick 2.2.1? Any help would be appreciated.
i just got an impression 10 as well. i10-50 model with android 2.3.1. im interested in more in depth info on rooting it as well. i tried updating firmware from the page it gives from the box. instructions to download the system.img file from the impression site. but i am not sure how long it takes? when i loaded the file on sd card and restarted (power+vol-) one time it stayed on the blue screen with the white status bar for like over a half hour. i thought it froze and restarted. when i tried it another few times the blue screen disapeared and i got a screen full of multi colored lines all down it. when i reseted.you could still faintly see those lines even when its running normaly. its faintly in background and you can see it more on certain pages or folders u open. my first tablet and i wish there was more info on it. any clue what im doing wrong?
dude i do customer suport forthis tablet, as u may know by now............it sux
leader Impression I10-50 firmware update
In order for the firmware update to be completed successfully, u need to first format your sd card via sd card reader or your tablet as follows:
Plug in the tablet via usb to your PC or load your card reader with sd card
Then select and left click whatever removable disk drive your tablet shows up
Select format and make sure the file system is set at FAT32
Select start, your sd card should begin formating.
Once complete, then u follow the 13 steps, but since you have already started step 1-13, just press your -volume and power buttons at the same time (steps 11 and 12 again) and it should update your tab. Be sure to do it twice as far as the volume and power button go so the update completes successfully.
I cannot seem to get this thing to root....tried the above with the external sd unmounted and then removed. Followed the instruction on the gtab post. All I can see is the external sd card. It did install superuser. Without the sd it gets stuck at Step 6.
It took awhile....but switched to EZ File Explorer. And I was able to see the internal sd and copy the files Then was able to install the market! Life is good!
edit: nevermind

Do you know if the root is reversible in case you need to put it back to the factory default? Would installing the image file on the Impression website reset the tablet back to stock firmware?

Thanks for the reply. About that file program you used, the only one I can find with a similar name is "ES File explorer". Is that the one you used?
I can't get it to copy the files over in the system directory, it acts like its write protected and fails the copy. I must be doing something wrong.
Oops yes ES File Explorer...
Need go to settings.... Open menu, choose Settings Check Root explorer and mount file system...
I'll probably just give up on this. This still isn't wanting to write/copy the files. This is the whole reason I returned my Nook Color before because of the hassle it takes to do this.
edit: it copies a few files, but then some files it says it failed.. like the "maps.apk" file.
Had a few apk's not move as well. I think map was one of them. Just followed the install order and did those from the external sd.....all worked out.

Thank you for your help. I finally got it working, I spent hours on this.
But I decided to try that original posts recommendation of using the program "Android Commander". I had to search to find it, but its a Windows program that makes it much easier to copy files over to the root directory. (although I had to change a setting it in so that it auto closes the log window after it copies, otherwise you can't close the log window, or do anything else until its closed).
I wasn't able to copy the maps with that either though, it gave the error that there wasn't enough space. But it seems to be working fine now.
Impression i10-50
I bought the i10-50 and actually love the tablet. With google market installed (update firmware first), I have full access to the market and no problems installing apps. The only con about the tab is no gps. To install the market, I only downloaded the google apps file and installed the apks in the correct order and that was it. No need to root. I am truly enjoying this tab now.

[Q] Help needed to root NT 1.4.2 with Indirect's or other method?

I am with a Nook Tablet 16gb that was purchased with 1.4.0 and is now with 1.4.2. I was happy sideloading on 1.4.0, but now understand I have to go rooting...
I have been trying several methods, and just can't get it though. One problem is I am in Africa, and downloading 100MB images takes more than 2h and recurrently fails with size mismatches or other errors before the end
Now, I am sure I should be able get Indirect's methods work, but end up with some nothingness...:
1> Indirect's method one: "make a magic SD card to load up CWM, and root their device"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21895025&postcount=14
I go through all steps with no problem, run CWM. However, for the last step to install zip from CWM:
- I guess it refers to the CWM_SD_flash_and_exe.zip again? It tells me fail to install, and the log says ""failed to open /sys/class/android_usb/android0/state: no such file or directory""
- I also tried using NT-CWM-SD.zip provided elsewhere by Sprint (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466583à), same thing
2> Indirect method two: "How to root 1.4.1 (or any other version) using just an sdcard {easy}"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466583
I tried the 1st (non windows) approach, that was creating a partition on the SDcard myself (did with Acronis Disk Director Suite, worked well),
I did the partition, copied the required files on the root of SD card, got CWM running. But then, the tutorial says:
Now you just need to download this zip file:
http://goo-inside.me/apps/Indirect/N...s_and_root.zip
just put onto the /mnt/media/ directory or you can push to /emmc/ while in CWM.
I am not sure I understand these instructions... I got the Gapps_and_root.zip onto my SDcard root, used CWD mode to unzip & install it successfully.
After that I reboot... I think it asks me to reset the tablet (someway like I have no choice), and then opens the Nook wizard and I cant get anything else out of it.
3> CM7 alpha final
I am now trying to use the CM7 method through SD card (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481826) but dont succeed to download the required 120MB file... (Team-B-CM7SD-Alpha_final.img.zip)
=> So... any help or idea to get out of this?
NB: I am computer savy but not Android expert (though I killesed myself twice to install android market on chinese devices and learnet something), I can use a SDcard reader or USB cable but dont know to run ADB or alike. Again, I have trouble to download huge files!
Thanks a lot to help me... I am pulling my hair here already 3 days
I understand the experts are on this forum, and hope to get some help or I ll get mad and my husband's Xmas present will go useless... (he is Mozambican and we found out B&N has no portuguese books! I need Kindle.. and few other apps!)

Sideloading still with Sideload Wonder Machine on Nook 1.4.2?
Sorry, yes. I have now asked the moderator.
Sideloading still with Sideload Wonder Machine?
In the meantime, I ve found in this great sticky post:
NT Reference Thread | Tips & Tricks | How to's | Videos | NEWBIE?
It talks of this Windows programme to sideload any apps.
http://www.androidcentral.com/sideload-android-apps-all-you-want-sideload-wonder-machine
I wonder if that still can work on Nook 1.4.2 (unrooted)?
Please help understand the instructions
Well, this was originally posted here and then moved to my own thread by some admin I guess....

[MODS/HACKS/THEMES] Nook Tablet ONE-STOP-SHOP for CM7 | UPDATE! March/12
Hi,
I understand this thread is not supposed to be for newbies, yet I am not an expert, but every other method I tried failed (Indirect's method, etc, see here) and I am having troubles (from Africa) downloading big files, so this one I got and I am willing to try because I really need to get out of Nook rom. Though I'd love some advice
I am with a Nook 16Gb Tablet that I got with 1.4.0 and had sideloaded apps. Now it is on 1.4.2 and I have reset everyting in various previous attemps, so it is quite clean. Unrooted. I have a SD card, a disk partitionning software, and a USB cable, but no ADB.
My goal is, minimum, to be able load few apps (Kindle, a radio I like, etc), and if it is rooted and with access to Market, even better, then I'll do even more.
Luckily, I have been able to download the various files in this post.
My questions:
1> internal or SD ?
Which method you think is simplier and more stable?
2> Stable versions now?
It looks like these versions have started as beta, but been improved; Could they be considered stable now?
I saw there are other ones out there, but I could not succeed download them ("Team-B-CM7SD-Alpha_final.img_001.zip")
4> Requirements
Do I understand well there are no special requirements before starting that? Can be on unrooted device, 1.4.2?
3> reading the instructions...
I am not so expert and may need some help:
1. Download the file of the mod you pick
=> OK
2. Copy the zip file in the root (/) of Internal OR External SDcard (Pick one)
=> OK for external. But if you talk of internal, does it mean the tablet should already be rooted?
3. Verify md5 of the file >> ES File Explorer>Properties let you check md5
=> Is this step compulsory? How do you do that with an unrooted tablet and no ES file explorer in?
4. Boot into CWM
=> This I knew to do with Indirect method. Does it mean I should have done that before? Or the img file provided here will enable me do it ?
4.1 Go to Backup & restore>> Backup your current ROM if you haven't already
=> ok
4.2 Format system, Wipe cache, advanced>> Wipe dalvik cache
=> Is this step compulsory? How do you exactly do that, all from CWM?
4.3 Re-flash CM7 ROM
=> Does that just mean to reboot?
4.4 Flash the mod
=> Does that just mean to reboot? apparently not... then how?
5. Reboot your device. ENJOY!
I am sorry for beeing so basic, but I am sure I ma not the only one...
Thanks for the precious help!
If you are just trying to root the device, try this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439630
Thanks for the link, I will do!
Does this mean the NT must be rooted BEFORe going for this CM7 procedure?

Questions about Android Phone Apps and SD card

I would like to be able to download apps directly to my SD card. I found some instructions online on how to set this up without "rooting". If you are familiar with the process I would appreciate some help. I got to the part where you are supposed to type the command "adb devices" but my phone does not come up. Why is this and what can I do? I would appreciate if you had a link to a troubleshooting page that already addressed this as well.
root it
it is the best way to move app to sd
u can use l2sd, a2sd
or u can edit your vold.fstab(system/etc)
If you have a Samsung it simply can't be done. I have a feeling it's the same with other manufacturers if they aren't already set up for "app to sd". Even rooting won't get it done with a Samsung. There are ROMs that give app to sd functions and there is flashable software that gets the job done. Still no root, no app2sd unless the manufacturer has included it in the firmware.

[Q] Tablet Ematic 7

Hello, i just inherit my moms Android 4.1.1 Tablet Ematic 7" EM63 purchased from walmart, a 70 dlls tablet. but with an issue, The tablet shows 0.00 HDD space available if no external SD card is plugged in, and its unable to download data or install APKs, The tablet works fine for browsing or playing files from sd card. but if the user restart the device it shows the factory reset screen after boot. The user needs to set up the wifi, google account, etc. Everytime a soft reset is done.
i've been told that not unusual activity was performed (no rooting, installing apks or messing up with files) before the issue happen. The tablet does not have Root privilege installed yet.
after a pair of hours doing research on internet i saw that it was a common (?) issue on generic brand tablets with 4.1.1 and the "busybox" application update (as im aware, no one updated the application on my moms EM63 tablet). According to "Dejan" from another forum this is the obvious fix for my issue.
Iregistered since i needed to thank you for your help, also i have some tips to add!
I had the same problem with all files wiped out and not enough space to instal new apps..
here is how i solved it.
1. Download root explorer here
2. Copy it to your memory card, and instal it (don't worry you will not have memory instal problem while installing it)
3. Run root explorer, and go to preferences and thick option "show hidden files"
4. Go back and inside root explorer there is an option "search", click on it and type in word "busybox", hit enter, after few seconds while he locate busybox location (mine was in /system/Xbin/busybox ) just copy it to /system/bin.
after that just reboot tablet..TAAADAAAM all your apps and everything is back to normal.
hope this helps and thank you again.

After trying to fix the tablet by my own following this instructions i noticed that the tablet has indeed the buxybox file in the path /system/Xbin/busybox instead the path /system/bin.
Now, here goes the question:
As stated before, i dont have Root Permisions so i cannot move the busybox to the correct path in order to complete that fix, Is it possible to fix this issue without having to root my device? Im not exactly sure how and if its possible to root my "new" EM63 tablet since there is no Hard drive disk space available.
Is there a "easier" way to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help regarding this issue

as a side note, the HDD can be "read" by the pc.
Noobs!
