My 2 cents on primes perfirmance - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So far guys in my honest review of prime vs moms ipad 2 is it doesn't stack up that well. Besides the gps issue which ipad doesn't have are these flaws.
1. Cannot copy and paste from web browser to gmail.
2. Lags very badly when typing in browser and other operations.
3. Stopping running programs is very slow.
Keep in mind I love android I have a Motorola ATRIX. That actually performs better than my tablet. I am able to use my phone quicker and easier than my tablet.

Not being able to copy n paste from browser to gmail is user error. Come on man..lmao that's simple stuff. It works as I've done it on several occasions. For the typing issues in browser or lag, really depends what site you on. I get no lag what so ever from typing. Maybe change your keyboard.
Come back when you tell us some real performance comparisons. I have an Ipad and Atrix 4g. They are no contest compared to the Prime. NEXT! Lol

There's nothing wrong with an honest review! But you must be doing something wrong with copy and paste, or you have a freak tablet. Just tried copying from stock browser to gmail, works great. Absolutely no lag in typing in the stock browser, but I am using the Swype keyboard.

Copy and paste should work
Use a third part browser
Honest reviews are good just give it more time it will grow on you

Exact same with my SGS2. Prime's hardware is much better than iPad 2's (and it's normal since it came out almost a year after), but software is definitely buggy. A lot of lags and freezes is kind of ruining the experience, but I believe Asus will work on that fast enough, especially seeing how popular the device is.

Your 2 cents are invalid.

I just copied and pasted into gmail from my browser, I haven't had any lag or freezing, and I am using opera mobile. Perfirmance is good here.

uhm this might be the worst review ever. opera mobile and thumb keyboard the best.

I'm not sure if meant that when you click the multitask button, pressing X for each of the apps is slow or completely unresponsive. At least this is the case for me. I have a lot of problems getting the screen to react in certain areas while others work fine. Pressing the power button then unlocking again solves this, so it's a software issue. Not sure if others are experiencing this too.

I use swiftkey keyboard and opera mobile browser and it's pretty smooth and fast. Also copy and paste works for me as well. As for the 3rd issue, I have no clue what you mean. The beauty of android is you can change stuff you don't like to make it better for YOU, the operator of the device.

I've found that hitting the "x" twice in a row deletes that app right away. Same thing in opera browser. When i want to close out a tab/window, I hit the "x" twice to close that tab/window.

There are plenty of things to complain about with the Prime, but your complaints are silly.
1) Copy and paste works fine.
2) The browser is great once you make the necessary tweaks in the debug menu. There's a thread on it. Granted, Asus screwed up by not having the default settings correct, but a little searching would lead you in the right direction.
3) No idea what you're talking about with prpgrams ending slowly.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk

I'm pretty sure the Ipad 2 doesn't have GPS either unless you get the 3g version. So comparing that to the asus prime is in a way apples to oranges. That being said, I think the GPS debacle is just bad PR for asus' nearly untarnished reputation.

I cant find the thread to make the browser better. Do you know where you saw it?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium

First i put the gps issue asside. 2nd apple works out of box without tweaks. I handed to my mom and she was off and running. Copy and paste do not work in default browser to gmail. It will work if i stay in browser but when i leave to go to gmail it did not work. I also tried dolphin browser. Closing running apps was slow as molasses after using system for a while. A reboot was just required to install tapatalk from market. All other internet activities worked at the time. It is definately buggy compared to ipad. I had high hopes and i still am hoping ics on this pad fixes these shortcomings.

New prime doesn't like XDA?

Only had a chance to play for an hour or so, but the only issue I noticed is that it doesn't seem to like the XDA Dev app! (you could cut the irony with a knife!)
Lots of FC's as soon as i try to bring up a post. Searching for xda obviously is no help, any thooughts?

Same thing happened to me on my Xoom with the free version. If you get the premium, it works
Premium works, but not perfectly on the Prime. For example, when scrolling, you'll often get an annoying flash from touching one of the topics first. I've been using Tapatalk instead on my Prime, which seems to run a little better.

I found the quick controls more of an annoyance than the standard interface.
I like it as we get more visual real estate and once you use them, it becomes so natural to just be able to control from a simple touch the the side - any side - and any location on the side. It is SO much faster way of browsing.
Yeah the quick controls are nice, I just think people just don't know they are there.
ICS Browser + in the Android Market is the way to go. Works great on the Prime and my Galaxy Nexus. It gives you more control over the quick controls.

It entirely depends. Quick controls are great if you use touch interface, but if you use dock then they become an annoyance.

That's probably what it is. If they had an option that automatically switched depending upon if you're docked or not, I'd use it.
Thanks so much for the suggestion to try the ICS Browser +, that's just what I was looking for. At least now I have the desired home button like I wanted!!
Thanks,

[Q] Concern: My iPad 1 renders .docs, .ppt, and .pdfs faster than my Android devices

My iPad 1 renders docs, ppts, and pdfs faster and smoother than my Nexus 7. I find it odd since my Android devices contain faster hardware. Does anyone know why that is the case?

Nope, according to forum posts and reviews by people using both platforms the nexus 7 is as good as ipad 3 reading them yet alone as ipad so if you're seeing a large difference I could only suggest trying different viewing apps in case they are the cause.

Have you tried Adobe Reader for your pdfs? I don't have issue with quickoffice pro on my JB Kindle Fire on anything.

He says he doesn't have issue with quick office pro, but i do because i use it. maybe you can figure out what my issue is once you learn to read. Compared to even ipad 1, rendering said files on android is laggy. Why you do insist on accepting **** performance when the hardware is more than capable? There is no excuse for it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Try this and you will understand why:
Open androidcentral.com(or another site with a lots of text and images) on your ipad and your android device. When site is loading pinch page in bothdevices, you will see that ipads web page is not rendering new loaded stuff but android device will be update page every second you keep pinching without stopping. Thats the reason of why 700mhz single core iphone 4 is smoother than our quad core beasts. Whenever an iOS devices detects touch, it stops other processes and focuses all attention to rendering the UI. Android devices don’t do this, instead general processing and UI rendering occurs concurrently which results in choppy UI.

Well I think you made your point there, and having just read your posts about tegra 3 (to see why you're being called a troll) it was pretty clear you were on about one specific developers titles so to be fair I don't think that qualifies you or anyone as a troll. Unless I read it wrong you were actually saying tegra 3 was good but the games from that developer were poorly coded for it.
But I'm going off topic there, sorry. Is the document a free one that can be downloaded?
If so I can try a few viewing apps out on it and find best one as I'm not having issues like that on my phone so if I could get it playing smooth it should be ok for you too were you to try the same software as my phone only has 100 mb free ram usually and you have more plus a better cpu and gpu.

Internet browser comparison?

Has anyone seen a video comparison of browsing the internet, and pulling up different url's? I tested in store and didn't seem very fast to pull up different web pages and why does IE struggle with the redbox website? I want to switch back to windows but i browse the net often and want to be sure this phone is going to satisfy me for 2 yrs. Anyone have a link to a video so i can get a better idea of how well browsing is? I've looked on YouTube and haven't ran across anything yet. We do not have LTE up here in Maine so my comparison is a little different,
However the browsing experience on the Lumia/IE has been by far the fastest mobile browsing experience I have had with any smart phone. I tried countless browsers throughout many different Android phones and different flavors of Android. Many of them were quite smooth and quick, but this experience has been even better. I expected the opposite so it was quite the happy surprise.
I like the speed of IE, but I am extremely annoyed at MS. They absolutely refuse to allow a true 3rd party browser. Having used Dolphin HD browser for Android, that is everything a browser should be, and truly shows that sometimes, a srd party Dev can just do it better.

Slow Tablet? Get rid of Chrome.

I recently got my tablet back from RMA (broken camera) and as I was updating the many apps I had when I got it back, I decided to get rid of Chrome. I would normally assume a placebo effect here but the tablet is indeed behaving better. Before unistalling, I had gotten into the habit of waking up the tablet and waiting a minute or so for it to settle...now, it's up and running immediately and no lag anywhere.
So...maybe my experience is a unique one but I thought I'd share nonetheless...
I just deleted Chrome after reading your post just for kicks while in class not really expecting it to do much. To my amazement my tablet was immediately faster, noticeably so to the point where I am kicking myself that I didn't know this sooner. Now my only complaint is that I really like the Chrome browser and liked having everything sync up.
