I've been looking for something for my tablet since I got it, but have so far had no luck.
I'm looking for a wiget that shows a calendar page (full month) and is it least a half-page in size on my 10" tablet. (That's 4x7 minimum - tho a 6x6 would also be good)
I know something like this has to exist somewhere, I just can't find it.
Anyone? I can't even find a 4x4......
I use launcherpro plus for my phone and you can resize the calendar widget as big as you want. Not sure if you would want to change to launcherpro because tablets are usually better on stock home launcher.
Nah, IMHO nothings better for a tab than the stock hc launcher - well, other than the stock ICS launcher

I had ordered this without ever even giving touchwiz a thought. Figured the phone would show up, I would play with it about 5 minutes, install new launcher, never look at touch wiz again. After I ordered it I downloaded the user manual and did some reading and it appears that there is some interesting and useful work here that without having the phone I think I like. Watching videos to see if I could see some of the stuff in action seemed to me to confirm that there is some good stuff there.
My question is how are you liking touchwiz? Not the phone, the phone with touchwiz. I Have encountered an older version and was left heavily underwhelmed. Please be specific, I like this, I hate that, and give a reason. If its just because that works fine but have a reason.
Remember guys this is mostly about opinion and little about fact. Leave folks be with theirs and vice versa.
edit.... Also please add in your predilections toward flashing roms, or not, as it were. An opinion from a daily flasher is much different than one from someone who never flashes and runs the stock rom.
I thought I'd hate it but I'm actually really liking it! Some features I love:
- The lockscreen is great and you get little tabs you can slide when you get a text or missed call.
- You can reject a call with a text message (So handy)
- Resizable widgets
- Customiseable dock
- Hold down 'Menu' for search in apps
- Quick settings in the notification tray
- Movable homescreens
- Customisable app tray
and more Besides you could always replace it with another launcher and I'm sure custom ROMs are on the way.
I changed it within seconds to launcher pro. However the drawer in launcher pro isnt smooth at all, im actually thinking of changing back.

Try Go Launcher EX
It is faster than Launcher Pro
I have a lot of time flashing roms and all that fun stuff so I have an idea about the possibilities going that route. Going to edit the op in regards to people adding their experience and preferences as far as flashing roms and such go. Thanks for your input. As a question Im on a custom rom now and the widets are all resizable. Are you talking about the touchwiz widgets then?
Another question would be can you access some or all of the touchwiz widgets from another launcher or do you give them up?

If you go use a third party launcher, you usually lose access to manufacturer widgets, since they work in a slightly different way from plain stock ones...
But if you go Launcher Pro Plus (it's a couple of dollars for the plus version) you get more "custom" widgets like that in return I guess it just depends what look you are going for.
So you have the handset and can confirm they are toast? Figured they would be but I haven't done touchwiz yet.

Nope, hence why I say "usually". I've been in this business for a while, but not got the SGS II yet.
I have to admit that I like Touchwiz. On SGS, I dont have a SGS2 yet. In my opinion, Samsung Glass lockscreen is a way better than the Android stock lockscreen.
At the moment I'm in love with Zeam laucher but I always come back to Touchwiz from time to time. Launcher Pro and ADW have always left me cold.
Did more reading, I see that you can change the fonts system wide. Does this carry over to a new launcher or do you lose that? Pretty nifty feature.
In my personal opinion, touchwiz 3 was dire. But after using my Galaxy S II for a few days touchwiz 4 has come a long way. I'm sticking with Touchwiz for now

I've been playing with the demo models at the office solidly for the past 2 days, and as a Sense users for the past 2 years, I really don't like Touchwiz even in it's newest incarnation.
Probably more down to being used to how everything works in Sense though, I don't like change
Touchwiz 4 is a huge improvement over 3 in my opinion. Using it on both my SGS and SGS2 now. The new calendar widgets on the SGS2 are awesome as well Touchwiz 4 can also put folders in the applications menu now
Semi-regular flasher (ooer) - would generally flash a new rom every couple of months. Been with Android since the G1 so have a pretty good idea of what's possible.
Things you KEEP going to another launcher:
Lockscreen
Dialler (reject call with text etc)
Holding down Menu to search
Settings toggles in the notification bar
You can resize widgets with LauncherPro Plus
Things you might LOSE
Movable homescreens (most launchers do this, but not with the motion sensing twist action like touchwiz)
Customisable app tray (again, most launchers do this)
Resizable widgets (possible with LauncherPro Plus)
Customisable dock (most launchers do this)
Overall, I don't miss the touchwiz launcher, but I like some of the other features. Looks like the Samsung widgets are standard and work in other launchers too - just added Mini Paper, Ap Mobile, and Yahoo! Finance, and they seem fine.
krabman - I've changed my system font to Helvetica S (Settings -> Display -> Screen Display -> Font) and in general it looks great! Carries over to most apps too. The only downside is that it's slightly wider, so you get some buttons wrapping For example, the password "Remember / Not Now" dialog has one, I forget which . . .
Overall, ditch the launcher (I like LauncherPro, smooth for me) but enjoy the other aspects
TW4 is not as bad as many are saying. its still not nearly as good as SENSE 2.x. and I wont even attempt to compare it to the new 3.0 version. I sure hope someone port it.

Same here, playing with both the SGS and SGS2 and yes it is an improvement for sure, but I am still not liking the iphonish looks.

You pretty much mentioned what I was about to! Using launcherpro plus with widgetsoid and pure calendar widget. I have to say that launcherpro work a bit smoother on the original SGS for be, but with the upcomming update that should be fixed.
Overall, combining the best of what I had on my SGS before, with the new functions from touchwiz 4!
Is there a calendar widget like in sense that covers the whole screen? I tried a few but they dont get bigger when u edit them they take up more space.
I was looking for that too. The only one I have found so far comes in Android Pro Widgets.
thanks looks good
Do u know a full screen mail one like the sense one?
i dont know if this helps you but i use calengoo. it tkaes up the whole screen works well with google calendar or native android calendar.

has various sizes, you can also resize to fit full homescreen - if your launcher permits
Hi There,
I've updated my WiFi-Only Flyer to HC a few days ago, and I'm not happy with it, so I want back to GB.
But: I like the huge space on the HC-Homescreen, and the Widget-Size. Is it possible to get this with GB? Maybe a specific ROM, which I haven't found yet, an App, another solution which i haven't mentioned?
Or maybe a HC-ROM, which behaves more like GB: Old Status-Bar, Hardware-Buttons, smaller Pen in PDF Viewer...
Hoping that somebody has a good idea.

the hardware buttons can be had in HC, using LeeDroid's ROM. The rest, not so...
But I'd rather have the GB homescreen size of things... I find things too close together now, I prefer a bit more space between my links...
But not enough to get rid of the ability of being to able to use the pen everywhere
you can have the best of both in some ways here's how.
On any GB or HC ROM you can install an alternate launcher such as GO Launcher EX (free) or, ADW-EX ($3.50) from the market.
Don't remove the HTC stuff.
Then you can pick your default launcher. These alternate launchers let you set the homescreen grid size to anything you want. GB uses 4x4, but you can use 5x6 like hc or anything even 9x7. You can also resize widgets
Everything will still work except you cannot use the Sense widgets on the alternate launcher.
You can switch back to the normal homescreen on the fly with an app like home switcher.

Yeah, thats nice. But I use the Tablet mainly for comments in PDF-Documents, and the Pens is just fat in HC!
If there comes an Update for that, HC will be an Option, but not now.
@DigitalMD: That sounds good. One Screen for quick Links to Apps, and the Stock one for the Beautiful Sense Widgets... I have to unbrick my device first, but after that I will test it.
Thanks to all for your quick answers!
Ok, I have that setup with GO-Launcher on HC. works fine.

Thanks, I'll try that!
I'm currently running a HTC Flyer P512 (Market used to identify it
as "HTC Flyer P510e" but since I changed to LeeDrOid's Honeycomb
v2.0.0 rom its identified as "HTC_Flyer_P512_NA" something in
build.prop probably changed ).
ROM: LeeDrOid's HC v2.0.0
I'm not even sure which launcher's support Honeycomb
or how they display the icons on the desktop.
Do any of them offer a replacement for People's full screen
widget to select contact by image? Do any of the offer a
calendar agenda view widget?
There are several alternative launchers on the market. ADW EX and Go-Launcher are two that are quite popular. They both offer some extra features over the stock Android.
But... you cannot use HTC widgets with them and I have never found any third party widgets that are comparable to some of HTC's. There's a couple of People contact widgets out that are not bad, but no email or bookmarks that work well. There's lots of calendar apps that are pretty good. My preferred setup is to keep sense and use ADW EX as an alternate. Then I can have best of both. I use Sense when I am working and need my emails and contacts handy and ADW when I am relaxing and want to play.
You can easily switch which is your default launcher.
How do I get the alternate launcher to start?
I'm using LeeDrOid's Honeycomb v2.0.0 ROM
The sense launcher is the current default,
how do I get a prompt to switch, or is there
an app that does that?
If you have another launcher installed hit home, should show both options. If not go to settings then applications then manage, select all, find browser abd clear defaults

If you decide to make one launcher permanent so you quit getting asked every time you hit the Home button there is a free app called Home Switcher that lets you easily switch back and forth.
When you try another launcher its a completely separate desktop and icon layout. Make sure you like the launcher before you invest the time to redo your desktop setup.
I'm using Go Launcher and I like 99% of its customization options. I also use Folder Organizer to make desktop folders for my apps. It has you choose different tags like Games, Utils, etc for your apps. Then with each new app you install, folder organizer will notify you so you can classify it and it will appear in the right folder(s). You can even nest folders.
Ok, new View owner... longtime lurker on the site.
I really like the Sense experience on this tablet, my phone is a rooted Nexus S4g with ICS. There- I have a few custom launchers which just add to the ICS experience rather than be a replacement- I'm using Nova currently.
Does no one have a custom ROM that modifies Sense to resize widgets to any size (this is really my main gripe... I want to widen Sense widgets in Honeycomb) As I don't think there's any way to hack another launcher use sense widgets.
I've tried Go Launcher EX and ADW EX launchers on the Flyer and neither will rotate the launcher bar to the bottom of screen when in landscape mode. Searched all the settings and can't see anything that would prevent this. Figure since the Sense launcher can do it the others should as well.
Does anyone know if this is possible and if so point me to the right setting?
I had this same issue with ADW EX which I don't get because the first picture it has on the market shows it running on a honeycomb tablet in landscape mode with the dock on the bottom. Its supposed to be tablet friendly but it actually didn't work for crap in my opinon! my wallpaper was all messed up and off center too!
Anyway google "Go Launcher HD". Its not on the market, at least last I checked it wasn't but I came accross it googling "honeycomb Launchers". Its a beta and needs a lot of work, but its specifically designed for honeycomb!
I have SPB Shell for my phone and could just install that but unsure about how the specs on the flyer would handle it.
Ended up installing VTL Launcher instead and it works as it should. Has a decent amount of options and I like the scrolling dock bar options for each side. Downside is it has no widgets but I just use others from the market for what I need.

This in particular, and the OP's issue in general, may be due to the software not completely supporting our particular hardware. Every tablet handles apps differently. I recommend contacting the developer, and letting them know the issue, and see what they say. Be sure to specify Flyer (or View, if that is the case) and Honeycomb.
