Third party launchers causing touchscreen problems in games? - HTC Rezound

I am on my second rezound, and have noticed that some 3rd party launchers, and lockscreens can cause dropped touches while playing video games. I am completely stock at the moment. I am making this post to validate my findings, and as a way for others to find it. I know some others have come to the same conclusion, and wanted to get feedback from the rest of the community.
Problem apps

I always used Go Launcher Ex before I was rooted and never had any problems. Since being rooted with a new kernel, I still haven't had troubles. I have heard things about ADW causing issues with certain ROMs. Not sure if you're still stock or what. Can't comment about the Lockscreens since I always use the stock HTC.

I only had am issue with the lockscreen causing issues. Other launchers work fine.

ADW Launcher/CM7 Homescreen Sensitivity problems

This is not my video, but it happens the same way on my Atrix, maybe not too pronounced like the video though. Seems like there's a sensitivity issue here. Is there an option somewhere in the launcher or something that will help fix this issue on my Atrix?

This was posted once on another phone, but never really answered. Some people say to just scroll slower, but Launcher Pro has no issues like this even with fast scrolling through the homescreen.
After flashing to Aura to get a feel of the fingerprint scanner again (I love it) it is like a dream come true, I always thought it was a faulty screen, but the screen double take issue never happened to me again on Aura's launcherpro. I downloaded ADW Launcher on the Market and the issue still exist just like CM7's integrated ADW.

Mine does this also. Unfortunately I don't have a solution.
Well, if you guys don't know a fix:
Maybe we can make this a signing club so I can post this in the CM7 thread or forward to them so they can fix it on the next patch.
Well, if you don't have this issue on ADW launcher, please also acknowledge it.

Only fix I found was to just ignore ADW and just use Launcher Pro with CM7. Faster and much more stable with gestures.
Did the same on my legend, desire, sgs and this phone. Not sure why....launcher pro rules.....and looks relatively AOSP.

[FIX] multitouch issues with 3rd party lockscreen?

as some of you are aware, using a 3rd party lockscreen will cause multitouch issues i.e. laggy keyboard, trouble with games. i dont care for the stock lockscreen and i stopped using other lockscreens because of the multitiouch issues. i ran across a possible fix for this and so far it is working ok. i can only confirm this will work with widgetlocker as its the only one ive tested (milocker doesnt have the option)
download widgetlocker
go to settings>advanced and enable 'retain system keyguard'
so far ive been using widgetlocker without any issues. try it yourself and report back if it works for you as well
Will report back with findings
so far so good

[Q] Launcher lag when switching panels?

I have tried every launcher and I keep getting substantially annoying lag every other time I swipe a panel. Is there a way to stop this?

I noticed that too when I just bought the phone, especially with a 3rd party launcher. Syncing widgets can cause it or maybe sync in general, and the stock launcher is usually smoother than the 3rd-party apps. Lag on the homescreen is virtually gone for me using Nova but I'm already using a custom rom. Forcing gpu rendering might help but I never noticed any significant difference myself.

[Q] Recommended 3rd party launcher for a 4.3 custom rom..

Forgive my "noob-ness" but as the title says, I would be grateful if I could get some users experiences on which launchers have worked well for them (especially for 4.3 custom roms). The reason why im asking is because I've used a couple of 3rd party launchers, however, I've experienced a few issues like homescreen icons disappearing from time to time, and random freezes, etc. Now, maybe this is normal with 3rd party launchers? Is it ?? Would appreciate some feedback .. Thanks.

+1 ... I agree, I recently tried Nova, and its more stable than the others i tried ... but i did experience an issue where i ended up back on TW after i used an app. I was watching some videos on YouTube, and when I was done, i noticed i was back on TW. So i had to click on the nova app to get me back on the launcher (even though Nova is my default launcher). I'll be honest, its only happened once with nova. But with the other launchers, it happened a lot. Is this normal? Have you had this issue from time to time?

Question Any way to remove the Google search bar at the bottom of the screen?

I guess not? Pretty annoying as I never use it.

Get/use a custom launcher like Nova launcher -So much easier to customize and so many more features.

This is really bothering me. I dont want a 3rd party launcher, the launcher is fine except for that stupid search bar. Also I had many problems with 3rd party launchers in the past, and I'd rather keep the stock one which is tailored to the Pixel 6 series.

I thought perhaps Nova would take care of it. Thanks.
surprised someone finds 3rd party launchers like nova buggy
nova hits 10years old in december and its been pretty solid since forever
Likewise, I want to get rid of that screen wasting 'At a Glance' widget at the top of the screen!!
Don't fancy an alternative launcher - but may have to bite the bullet...

I've been using it for the last 6 years. It is feature-rich and less buggy and annoying than the four previous pixel launchers.

The beauty of Nova is, you can run both launchers, customize each as you like and switch between the two on-the-fly.
Infinite scrolling, custom bottom bar, multiple grid layouts...
When I get my P6P (today in theory) I will load all my apps from the Play store and restore my Nova backup. BOOM! my new phone will look and function exactly like my old phone... only bigger and cooler.

Thanks - I went with the Microsoft one - as it was the last one I had tried on my OnePlus over a year ago.
I will see how it goes - if not I will try Nova - I have the paid version also from 1-2 years ago.
Cheers

Switched to Nova overnight (insomnia!) - did not like the news choices of the Microsoft Launcher left swipe page - stuff from Hello Magazine, Daily Express and Daily Mail -???
Added the Nova Companion and now got the Google Left swipe and no wasted screen space on the main page.

I had never heard of the MS launcher, or maybe never really given it any mind. I looked at it yesterday after you mentioned it and it looked awful. I really hate the tiles and the forced news that I could care less about... too much work to make it what I wanted.

Then you're missing out IMHO.
There is nothing "wrong" with the Pixel launcher per se, as long as you don't care that Google, like Apple, dictates how you interact with your phone; but, if you want to customize your phone to your liking, a custom launcher is the only way to go.
Nova has been rock-stable for a long time and has a myriad of great features, most of which are free.

+1 for Nova.
Nova is my launcher of choice.
It has been for a decade or so now.
I've tried many others but always come back to it.
Sometimes I use Action Launcher or will try something new but again always come back to Nova, which I am actively using on my new Pixel 6 (received it yesterday) as I find the stock launcher extremely lacking in features - haven't suffered a single launcher related performance or stability issue for a very long time, including on my P6.
I don't like having an app drawer or icons / widgets cluttering up my home screen so I assign gestures to launch specific frequently used apps such as Chrome and YouTube and for Nova's integrated "app search", which also displays other recently used, newly installed or frequent apps in tabs separate from the search bar.
I have a single Google "At A Glance" widget
and use the Maxelus Galaxy Pack Live Wallpaper app for additional personalisation and because I'm a nerdy space cadet.
+2 Nova. Double tap to lock gesture is something I have implemented for years and the customization is endless.

Wait, what's Nova Companion? I just put the Google icon on my home screen so I could tap it to get to the Google interface, but a left-swipe would be way cleaner...
If you root your phone, you can get rid of the search bar in the Pixel Launcher, add rows/columns, and more.

Use adb to disable it.
I use a package disabler to do that.
For me it's called "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox"
I'm not missing it...

Which package disabler are you using if you don't mind?
A little late to the party. Always used Lawnchair launcher on my Pixel3. Just got my P6 a few days ago and upgraded to Lawnchair again. Seems pretty stable on Android 12. I add Lawnfeed to enable Google feed left-swipe. Lawnchair is pretty similar to Pixel launcher except you can customize much more than stock (ie, disabling the bottom search bar).
