Saw that there was a new OTA update and got all excited and updated, not ICS. I disappointed all over my office. Whaddya gotta do around here to get working GPS and ICS and no dead pixels?
Is there a changelog for this stuff?

Over The Air, and it's not automatic for the most part. You've still gotta confirm it (until it doesn't let it anymore). Just a term

Not to sound rude but did you even look a few topics away on the 1st page here to see this was already posted?

but they are updates automatically brought to you instead of you having to go hunt/search for them.
I'm just use to seeing OTA refer to television broadcast channels but it really can apply to anything "in air" if we're just describing it's internet connection type.

Android was origionally made for phones. Phones have 3G and Wifi, both of those being Over the Air. Hell, the tablet doesn't have any physical way to get Internet by default.

If you go back a few years the only way you got updates for your device was downloading them, connecting your device to PC by a cable and running an update program. The concept of updating without these steps is referred to as Over The Air (OTA) updating.

automatic updates is not a Windows exclusive phrase, MacOSX, Linux, and many other operating systems out there are equipped with an update manager that download updates automatically, hence automatic update.

Ok...so first off, no, you can't roll back. We don't have recovery yet, so no.
Secondly, I believe the youtube problem has been found to not be the result of the update, but on their server side.
As far as the remaining problem, not sure I can help you there without more info.

Update for 7/21/12
Hi all
I bought the S3 last week and now it has given me the option to do a software update this morning. Does anyone know what this software update is? Is it going to remove any functions such as Google Search?
I'm postponing this update until I get more information.
Thanks

It's mainly a update for a bunch of apps, BUT (thanks Apple) it also removes the device search, function from Google Search
Apparently AW 5.1.1 is already rolling out for the Asus Zenwatch.

Nope, the Android Wear updates are coming directly from google. All Android Wear watches are like nexus devices.
Yes they are all updated from Google servers, but Google are fairly random with all their updates, the order they do them in never makes any sense to anyone, least of all them.
Here is how the update rollouts work. This applies to Nexus updates, Google app updates, and Android Wear updates. http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1r1dz4/44_kitkat_has_started_rolling_out_on_the_n4/cdiwt6f
It is, mostly.
Rollouts are conducted in phases. Typically they start at 1% of devices for around 24 - 48 hours; we watch the return rates and resulting device checkins and error reports (if any), and make sure nothing looks wrong before sending it to more. Then typically it goes to 25%, 50%, 100% over the course of a week or two.
What the percentages mean is that when your device checks in, it has a 1% chance (for example) of being offered the OTA. If it doesn't (randomly) get an offer, it will never get an offer until the next batch.
IOW, once your device checks in and gets turned down, that's it until the next batch. Mashing on the "check for updates" button just causes your device to check in again, and get automatically turned down again. Think about how that makes your device feel! WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE PHONES?!
That said, once the new batch does start, hitting that button does give you a new roll of the dice -- but once. Since devices usually only check in for system updates every 24 hours (I think? Certainly on a many-hours basis) this can get you your shot sooner than it would happen on its own.
So, mash away. Just be patient, and mashing on it more often than once or twice a day isn't going to gain you anything.
Edit: also, keep in mind that this isn't first-come/first-served. You're not racing other devices to get your slot in the current batch, or something.

Yes, but what I meant is the order that devices get it, not individual units.
Looks like it may be rolling out today.

It seems to push notifications to the watch quicker (before it would always lag a second or two) and there seems to be a lot more options, like having a flashlight, the ability to change font sizes, etc.
Has any one grabbed the OTA?
Man I can't wait ! Still haven't got ota how do gestures work ?
Anyone know a more precise date? I'm getting king of annoyed with Asus at this point.
"In search of incredible. Haven't found it yet"
No ETA! I actually lost faith in Wear 2!
It's not just Asus. Google has really goofed the Android Wear 2.0 rollout. For an Android version that was supposed to be under tight control, WTH Google?

You're right. Seems to be a routine security update. Damn I was so hopeful. Back to hurry up and wait.

Ya this is the last asus product idea they have a horrible track record of updating their devices.
Asus told me the update is rolling out late Q2 or even the beginning of Q3.... Bet it will be delayed again when we hit Q3.

This is unfortunately probably true.
Unfortunately, we don't know where the hold up is. Unlike normal Android builds, Google controls Android Wear and builds the ROM which OEMs then tweak. Supposedly, the Zenwatches are being held up by Google, not Asus. I don't get why, since all Android watches from the ZW2 generation had the exact same SoC, and I believe all of the watches in the ZW3 generation also have the exact same SoC, but there you have it.
Shut up about wear 2.0. The watch works fine as it is.
It'll be here by Xmas. Maybe not this Xmas.

Not for everyone. I would like to just type or write words on my watch like you can do in AW2.0 instead of saying them out loud. But I can't right now... Also there are a lot of problems with the watch using my phone's GPS, which I didn't have on WebWear 2.0. So no, it isn't working fine as it is for me.

Not only that, but I have constant issues with my phone going to DnD as well as text messages delayed on my Zenwatch for 5,10,15+ minutes, too. We need Android Wear 2.0 sooner rather than later! I rely on message alerts when I am running equipment and can't hear/feel my phone!
Not to mention uninstalling useless apps. I get notified Everytime I drive by a Lowe's. The app on the watch literally does nothing useful. I can't uninstall it without uninstalling the app from my phone.

You do know you can turn off notifications for that?
When a company says they will have something out by a specific time they should either keep to their word or at least be honest if there's delays. ASUS so far has not replied to one single comment I've posted on social media on why we haven't gotten the update. To me that's a sign of a company that doesn't care about it's customers is when they don't even attempt to answer simple questions. Even a blank "it's delayed until further notice" is better than dead silence.
When I check for updates the tablet just says "Connecting to server..." and it never completes.
The tablet is connected to the internet. In fact I am typing this from the tablet right now.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

download samfirm or that new download tool - I think it is called FRIJA t - and use it to search for the latest firmware -in the device field, enter SM-T860 and then enter your CSC - if you are in the US - enter the letters xar as your CSC and it will find the most recent firmware (August Security Patch) and allow you to download it. Then use the latest patched odin to flash.
Hope this is helpful

Not agree. Tab s series has premium status in samsung lineup.
Only S and note phones are upper, all other lower.
Will be many updates. I expect at least every 3 months.

Calm down. Just a bit of banter. The odd security update isn't what I mean. Updates will be rare on the s6 and they haven't improved that much . Be months before Android 10
Still can't get updates on the WiFi 256GB version. I am still running Security Patch August 1, 2019. Is there an update available and if so how can I get it?
I found that updates can be installed on the tablet using SmartSwitch.
For me (in Germany) it came as usual over the air.

I don't think so, I had installed the normal web update and then since then it never connects to the server when checking for updates.
Thanks, this is valuable information for me. So, you are always on home csc, and have this problem
Before today, it would fail to connect to the server. I just manually checked now and it's downloading an update. Tab S6 WiFi only US model.
Still no update here, disappointing to still be on the August security update....
