Hello world!
So, before having the Galaxy S 2, I had a Galaxy 3 i5801, and one of the innovative features that have appeared (IMO) was the "Voodoo Sound".
The developer "marcellusbe" (i think) made the port of "Voodoo Sound" for G3, which is now used in almost all custom kernels for this device.
With this, I'd like to know when this fantastic function will be developed for our Galaxy S II
Galaxy S2 lacks hardware specs for Voodoo sound.its not possible.
Regards,
Karan.

Are you sure?
So, the Galaxy S 2 (that is a highEnd quality phone) has worst sound hardware than the G3?

Cant compare it to the G3 but yes...the Yamaha chip doesnt output the sound quality as the original Galaxy S.
It lacks bass and gets distorted.
I as a SGS2 user, am satisfied using the in-ear earphones from Sony and Sennheiser CX180.
But when i use my Sony MDR V700 DJ headphones, there is absolutely no bass and the volume too is very very low.
i too am very much disappointed with the sound quality of the GS2.
Regards.

I too hope voodoo sound will find its way on the SGS2! In the meantime (as with the SGS1) I developed AudioBoost for this device to have a more powerful output (I use it mostly attached to my car hifi)...and I think it works great coupled with PowerAmp player (the stock Samsung's one uses some ****ty equalizer which provides lots of distortions)!
So in my opinion the chip is not that bad (of course the other one was better, but less powerful), it just needs good equalization!

AudioBoost is available for galaxy S 2?
I want voodoo sound only to attached to my car hifi too.
On my old G3 I used the "headphone amplifier" option to increase dB without distortion to have more volume.
i can confirm that audioboost works really well with poweramp...even with stock headphones the sound is great using the above combination.

Care to explain? Voodoo Control "THIS ITEM IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE"
If you want to improve your sound output, you can try dsp manager! There is thread for dsp on sgs2!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Any tips on improving sound recording as well?
Tried recording at a few concerts and it was utter crap (just like the sgs originally was before the voodoo improvements). Massive distortion and noise and crackling.
Such a shame from such a powerful device...

I heard rumors that supercurio is working on Voodoo sound for SGS2? Found nothing at github, but is it true?

The guys over at the desire hd forum section have come up with a custom rom for the device made out of a leaked ruu from the unreleased HTC Runnymede. The rom has one feature that will certainly be very desirable in the next couple of weeks, Beats Audio. Now as i understand, the beats integration should be mostly software(like the beats audio laptops from HP). SO, the question is that can it be soft ported to the SGSII?
p.s. oh and if im in the wrong section, do tell
BTW, HTC Sensation XE is another beats audio device(can be used as anothet source!)
Fantastic idea. Would love to see this at our sgs2.
Maybe you could contact the vodoo developer. It think it's supercio. He's is very friendly.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Although he is a very friendly person indeed, I doubt that he'll start implementing this for SGS2. The reason is the same as for the lack of Voodoo Sound feature, a different and a bit less efficient sound chip used in SGS2 (The original SGS has Wolfson WM8994 and Samsung replaced it with Yamaha MC-1N2 in SGS2). I'd see it more likely for the original SGS :-/
people telling Cyanogen much better
oh and The Galaxy S II uses audio hardware manufactured and branded by Yamaha
Doesnt matter who made the hardware.. Do you think they put monster equipment in all hp laptops? As with all such marketing gimmicks, this has to be software based tweaks and heaven knows we need better audio output
great idea !! anyone tried it on other hardware ?? is it working with monster beats without pilot or it neets to be with pilot edition ?? and will there work monster beats with pilot (iphone edition) i mean as i know ther is diffrent polarisation in jacks... so we need to wait for new editions of earphones ??
Im supporting this yeahh.. must admit that the audio output ftom sgs2 is weak indeed.. my old htc desire sounds better even with cheaper earphones... and i really dont like the 'fakeness bass sound' in SGS2
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
(UNRELATED QUESTION) i just recalled another feature in our phones that needed some usage, fm transmission. I read somewhere on xda before launch that the broadcom chipset inside had nnot only BT 4.0 but also this capability. I for one, think that fm transmission is one killer feature

Not only that, but you'd think those developers would agree that since audio on the SGS2 is actually worse, the need for such software is even greater... I can't understand why they won't develop it where it's obviously most needed...

Put simply, the sound from the S2 is FLAT with hardly any bass. You may also hear regular interference like hissing sounds due to the phone's design.
Even simpler, the audio output of the S2 = horrible
Are there any news ?

What's the best setup to listen to music on the amaze,
Mabey a combo of equilizers with DSP manager, or beats audio?
What are your thoughts
i prefer the beats audio mod with a good set of earbuds [not beats/moster],
dsp can be far superior with the correct adjustments; though i'm just too impatient to find the right levels

Hi guys,
Im kinda wondering if somebody can provide the beats audio files for the Xperia S? I had the zip package on my Arc installed with CWM.
Somebody got an easier way to install? The sound compared with an Xperia Arc lacks sound quality. Especially with my incar Bluetooth audio with amplifier i can hear the difference.
Many thanks

As we have no recovery yet. Unzip that zip you have for arc and move the files to the same system folders. Then set permissions RW- , R-- , R-- then reboot the phone. Warning, not sure if anyone has tried with Xperia S yet and not sure it's really worth it. I like the sound from the S clear bass works well

Trust me, Beats Audio is crap and doesn't do much at all.
Try messing around with the equalizer settings in the Music app, and try the Virtual Surround modes too (I prefer 'Studio'), you should be able to customize the sound to your liking.
poweramp
Surely you'd be better off using poweramp? I cant hear much difference between beats and the bass & treble eq on poweramp...

Though the Beats Audio files only was "files"? HTC phones using Beats Audio has Beats chip inside, so how can only installing files make any difference besides that it eq the music?
Beats Audio files that you can install yourself is suppose to work together with the chip.
Or am I totally wrong?
Try out Google Music as your player, very nice EQ in it.

Beats Audio is just an EQ..........
The normal Sensation without the beats chip also can support beats audio with custom roms - more than sufficient proof its just an EQ.
To sum it up, it's an EQ that supposedly makes things sound better, although purists would disagree with it since it's an S-Shaped EQ.
Somebody just provide us the Beats Audio drivers , quick!
The Sony XS has an internal HPF, and an automatic eq for the most ""hard and difficult" frequencies (100-300hz).
The EQ of the player (400-16k hz) is a eq for noobs but it's very good
We don't need the beats audio optimization

My JBLs, Pioneer 600RMS subwoofer and my JVC carradio NEEDS beats audio!!!
So I installed the Beats Audio mod of bassini and predator today everything works finde included LeeDroid Tweaks.
But my problem is if I change the sound enhancer to Beats Audio it won't start playing my music.
My ROM is KingCobra 1.5. What could be the problem ?

Beats is **** IMHO, headphones and software

Indeed, if you set up EQ by yourself you will have better improvements then with beats.
And about headphones, there is much better cups for that price.
But HTC is owner of beats and he need all promotion he can get. If that means put some EQ and promote it as big sound enhancer, then let it be.
For rizzle. Beats sounds like ish, I don't know why ROM developers even include them. It sounds especially horrible over stereo bluetooth.
people....it doesn't matter what your opinions of beats are, you're almost starting to sound like apple haters
