[Q] Disable email sync in "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync" account - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's strange, but I want to sync only calendar and contacts with my work account (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account).
In my old HTC Wildfire, under Settings-Account, I was able to choose what items I want to sync: calendar, contacts and/or email.
But with my new SGSII I can only choose calendar, contacts and task.
I can't tick or untick the email mark, it isn't.
It works well, syncing my email, but I don't know how to deactivate email sync and go on with calendar and contacts sync.
Does anybody know how to do this, is the diference the android version ? (if the cause is the version, what about ICS ?
Thanks a lot.

[Q] Calendar Sync

Hello
I'm having trouble getting the Calendar on the SGS2 to sync with the Calendar on google?
Now I can create an appointment, and it appears on google and the phone, but if I create it on Google the phone won't update.
The sync checkbox is ticked, and every time I create a new event on the Calendar i'm greeted by
"Google calendar cannot sync with Samsung Kies. Use My Calendar to sync with Kies"
followed by
"Local calendar cannot sync with Google calendar. You need a Google account"
So I have sync running, emails are pushing, and as I said items created on the Phone push to Google, but I can't get Google to push back to the phone, can anyone explain to me what i'm doing wrong
Many Thanks,
Luke.
I have the same problem. Have had the problem for a while on multiple roms and kernels

O great, so its F'd then
Maybe i'll be getting the Galaxy Nexus then.
The Calendar app can work with many calendar sources. I have it syncing it with gmail, yahoo and also the phone's internal calendar (which is also the one KIES deals with).
When you go into Calendar -> Menu -> Settings -> Calendars. You will see all the accounts that independently sync with the Calendar app. So you can have an appointment via a work's account and another appointment via your gmail account. The gmail appointment will only sync with the gmail account and the work's appointment will only sync with the work's account.
What it appears to be is that you create an appointment in gmail (on the web) and it will happily appear on the web and also on your phone soon after. Any modifications to that appointment on the phone will appear on the web.
A new appointment created on the phone is saved as a local calendar event. Go to Calendar -> Menu -> Create. You will see half-way down an option called 'Calendar' select your gmail account from this option. As long as you save the new appointment the Calendar app will use that as the default calendar.

I have had the stock calendar working but I would highly recommend Business Calendar.
Way better in every way.

[Q] Annoying Issue with Calendars

So here's the deal. I have three separate calendars that show up in the wonderfully limiting Sense Calendar... ಠ_ಠ
Facebook Calendar (don't really care much, but still a problem)
PC Sync (calendar events from my Outlook Exchange Calendar)
Google (self explanitory)
I use HTC Sync to get the PC Sync events. But I would really like to put these events to the google calendar.
I have been all up and down the interwebs trying to fix this, and the one sure fire solution I am not able to use. (Bosses won't let me use the Google Sync app because they don't want stuff touching the Exchange server.)
So how do I get all three (or just the other two really) to get synced up to my google calendar, so when I log into google.com/calendar I will see all the events that are on my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Bumping up
This probably doesn't help, but our exchange server at work is set up to delete the phones data after 5 attempts at a failed login. I think it's five, maybe three.
There is an option to forward outlook items to a mobile device. On Windows 7, click on file, then click on options (right under help), then go to mobile.
Good luck.

Sorry about the wrong forum.
Checked out the mobile options and can't really do anything there. The link for "Find a text messaging service for your mobile operator" doesn't even work.
- I use outlook 2010 at home for my hotmail, Google, & Cox emails & Google calendar.
-I use "CompanionLink" pc app to sync my google calendars (6) and contacts to/from outlook.
-I use the the android "mail" app, to access my hotmail account (as Exchange ActiveSync for push mail) which pulls in my MSN Calendar, Contacts etc. I also use it for gmail, & cox mail. (disable gmail sync in accounts & sync).
- I am able to see all my Google calendars, MSN Calendars, & Facebook calendars in the HTC calendar app.
- I use android "pure calendar" widget app to have a scrollable homescreen calendar that combines all appointments etc & is customizable (requires Adw or similar launcher).
Don't know if that will help you or not, but it works well for me. The Exchange & Google calendars etc are all separate still but viewed together. If I add an event, I can choose which calendar it goes to.

[Q] Microsoft Exchange Support?

Hi all! I'm considering getting the Galaxy S III. It will be my first Android phone. I'm coming from an HTC HD2 (non-Android ROM's). I have some questions regarding how well the S III works with a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Contacts
1. Assuming I have no contacts on the phone, when I input my Exchange credentials and sync, will this populate the Contacts on the S III?
2. If I have multiple Exchange accounts, can I choose to sync contacts on one account but not the other?
Mail
3. If I have multiple Exchange accounts and a Gmail account, are all of these in one Inbox or do you have to go to different screens/apps to access the different accounts?
4. Does syncing of mail work instantaneously, i.e. if I read/delete an e-mail on my PC, will it immediately reflect on the phone?
5. Do you get "push" e-mail?
Calendar
6. Can the phone handle multiple exchange calendars and a gmail calendar?
Tasks
7. Are tasks and syncing of tasks supported?
Thanks,
Bump. Anyone?

1. Your contacts sync as long as you check the option off.
2. I only have one exchange account so I dont know the answer on this.
3. I have my gmail account set up using the gmail app so I don't know this.
4. Immediately as long as you have pushed enabled.
5. Yes, as long as you enable it.
6. It can handle my one exchange calendar and gmail calendar so I believe so.
7. Yes.

GMAIL and MS Exchange simultaneously sync

Hello guys,
I have a common quesiton about synchronising my gmail and Exchange (work) account with my HTC Desire HD Android Version 2.3.5
At the moment I synchronise my gmail accoutn with mail, calender, tasks and phone directory.
For future use I want to synchronise with Exchange from work, even the same functions like gmail.
For gmail I use the given gmail-mail program which is implemented with Android.
For Exchange I'd like to use the "Mail" function which is also a standard tool from Android.
My question:
1. I've seen that there is the possibility to show or not show different calenders, phone books etc. When I creat the Exchange additionally to the gmail account, is there a complete new calender built with the Exchange rules or does it use my gmail calender? The same for phone directory.
I want to avoid that the two accounts will be fully mashed in the future. So, if I quit my workplace I want to delete the Exchange account and all work information will be lost but not my personal gmail account, settings and personal data like calender, phone directory etc.
2. Is the Exchange completely separated to the gmail account?
I'm a littel bit frightend to configure the Exchange accoutn because I don' want to mix up the two accounts.
I hope I wrote it in a understandable way and not redundant to an existing article.
Thanks a lot and regards
The email app and the gmail app are different, are independent one of the other. You'll have no problem, nor with the contacts.
