You won't be able to apply the update to an existing honeycomb installation, it is a set of binary patches not a complete image.
Is it the same build as the latest wifi leak, i am on that.

One question I have is whether the GPS locking issues are still prevalent in this most recent update. As far as I'm aware, even the latest wifi leak has issues with GPS lock-on. There's a patch somewhere in the development forum, but from some replies, the patch does not fix the issue. I was sort of hoping that the official release by HTC would have that fixed.
It will be mostly, but it will have US rather than British English.

I must be linguistically challenged - hadn't noticed much of a difference...and don't see a need to revert to GB to do it the HTC way.
Anyone think otherwise?

A small nitpick, but US English would be nice to have.
Yes, I will add an upgrade for this, as stated before I will update with regional variants as and when they are available (to me).

When will we be able to root the flyer after an official HC update?
So just to be 100% clear, if I DID want to update via OTA, I would need to follow Globatron's S-ON/revert method, correct?

Yeah, I compared a few and most were newer. Not by a lot, just a hair. The hotspot feature was a tiny bit older. Im hoping it will be just as simple as replacing the current hotspot with the European hotspot. Ill try to post both current and euro versions of all apk's tomorrow for those who care

I dont know if its unlocked because I cant install it. I tried "ADB Install" and that failed because of security certificate and "ADB Push" pushed the file but it did not seem to do anything. It still failed with the host spot. I posted in the hot spot unlocking thread about this. I dont know if there is anything in there that can be used to help us. I really think that we will have to wait for S-OFF to modify the built in hotspot.
Ok, attached are .7Z file that show the versions of /system/apk for both Euro and US Shooter. Had to use .png format because the app I am using "LocalAPK" does not export at this time.

@[email protected] so the European hotspot apk is actually unlocked?? Damn, that's generous
EDIT: Also, great try. Were you temp-rooted during that process? Because I believe we have read/write on the system with the latest perma-temp root, the only downside is that any and all system changes eventually (and always by reboot) reverse themselves.

No, I said I dont know if its unlocked. I posted in the WIP Thread and they said that it would be also locked down. SO no go on that aspect. They do have modded APKs that will work. Just need S-OFF to install them.

According to AndroidAuthority.com: http://www.androidauthority.com/sprint-says-htc-evo-3d-to-get-ota-update-today-43976/
Sprint has posted that the HTC EVO 3D version 2.17.651.5 update should start rolling out today. It’s a minor maintenance release that addresses the following:
Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
Battery life improvements
Security update
I know you guys with the HTC EVO 3D are dissappointed you aren’t getting Ice Cream Sandwich yet. Yes, HTC did say they’d start rolling out ICS updates for their phones in January, but you know how updates are in the Android world unless you have a Nexus. Now back to the HTC EVO 3D and it’s newest maintenance release from Sprint and HTC.
The OTA should start rolling out to devices today, but you can manually force the update check by tapping Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check now. Once you get the update let us know in the comments how well it’s working out for you.

I just (Sunday) unlocked and rooted my Amaze (flashed recovery to CWM), disabled some T-Mo fluff, and updated Google Apps. (edit) Removed HTCLinkifyDispatcher (why oh why didnt I do this months ago). Otherwise pure stock. Remind me where the update .zip will reside, and I'll pull it off and Dropbox it for everyone.
I believe my Amaze is at 2.14.531.3 (is that the recent update to Personalization app?). Personally I think 2.14.531.3 vs 2.14.531.30 is really damned confusing, mathematically.

Wait for someone else to try it and see what they say to do. Likely, don't take OTA update unless Towel Root works and that will take trial and error.
I am thinking as long as you didn't modify any system applications (like I did) you should be able to protect root with a program (I forget the name) then update and use the app to allow root again.
---------- Post added at 09:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ----------
And also now that I think of it, being towelroot was just released I doubt Samsung would have patched it. What I was thinking of doing if that is the case is just flashing the new update with Odin once it's up at Samfirmware and then rerooting it.
Ha ha you can tell I'm addicted.
Checked about 8 times in the last two hours. Still haven't got an ota yet.
They said update through ota is available only in VoLTE markets, others should update manually using kies 3 at or after Jun. 20th. Thanks op for the heads up
Looks like it's only radio update, I guess it doesn't affect root.
