Using a HTC Flyer for drawing? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I understand now with HTC Flyer HC is soon coming out this week however, how good is the flyer for drawing?.
Does anyone have any experience with a Cintiq/Intuos4 compare the experience?, is it just marginally better drawing than any other tablet at the moment besides the note but with pressure sensitivity?.
I like to use it for a daily drawing, however, drawing like on the ipad2 currently and TF sucks big time.
If anyone can help I appreciate their input.

Nice dude! Can we start a new thread dedicated to doodles on HTC Flyer? It deserves one!!

wtf? i was coming in here to lol @ the thought of being able to draw on the device seeing as i can't even write straight letters on it, but i think i'll just slink away....

Thanks, it looks pretty much what can be already done on an ipad2/TF however, I wanted to know if the experience was better or mainly the same please?.

My only issue is how the screen reads your hand as input vs a wacom, etc which just reads the pen. Other than that, I am happy with it and its sensitivity and responsiveness.

You should really do a search on the many threads that discusses the drawing capabilities, but:
Notes on the Flyer (see pic) has palm rejection. Non-stock apps that allow palm rejection working with the Flyer are Quill, which is great... Sketchbook Pro - awesome, which is like an very early version of Photoshop Elements or GIMP (very early version, mind, don't expect too much) has palm rejection if you hover the pen within area millimeters above the screen briefly. Then there is Canvas - cool too - that uses the pen well, has palm rejection apart from accessing the menu/options...
The palm rejection apparently depends on whether the app developer makes it compatible.

I did do a search but still I wanted to know if the experience to what is already on android/ios tablets. Is drawing a better experience when you disregard pressure sensitivity than what is currently on offer.
Hence why I ask if people who own cintiqs/intuus how it felt?

Pro has loads more brushes/pens n textures 'n' stuff... more.... errrrr... more stuff like guides, generally more stuff that's quite handy. I can't remember the mob version, but pro is definitely better... and worth the extra cost.

Also, Sketchbook Pro has settings for pressure sensitivity, and mobile doesn't. Pro works great with the pen. It's not upto the level of a wacom panel on a tablet pc, but works well for a 7 inch sketchbook.

Quill is nice. You can set it so it won't detect finger touches at all and only accept the pen.

Did this back with GB on View with the basic notes app from HTC as a quick sketch to test flow and sensitivity, I do enjoy Sketchbook Pro. I use intuus and this has a nice flow.

I didn't try it extensively, but I will tonight, if my finger allows (doing an animation for a job with intuos). It seemed to me much better than the usual tablet mainly because it's much more precise, I tried to do something small and the tablet responded more or less as expected compared to my galaxy tab 8.9 (great tablet, horrible digitizer).
I'll try to do something precise and post it so I can tell you more.

Lapdock 100 confirmed on Engadget

It basically looks like the Webtop Lapdock, but with chrome accents, and can connect to a number of high end Moto devices, such as the newly announced Atrix 2 and also our Photon, via what appears to be a dongle. Launches exclusively on AT&T on Oct. 13th followed by launches at other locations (Sprint?) later this month. No price yet.
Anyone interested? This guy is.

From a hardware standpoint, webtop performs ok when compared to an equivalent netbook. Not too long ago those single core Atom netbooks could barely play youtube vids. The eyecandy is it main hindrance and the patch work coding doesn't help.
I've already discussed possible improvements with moto and there response was pretty much "webtop's awesome, everybody loves it, the hardware can't support a real desktop enviroment and who would want that anyway." My rebuttal was to show them my Photon running, at that time, a prerelease of Ubuntop using the lapdock. "We don't get it." was what I got in return at which point I walked away.
I have a single core 1.6 intel atom netbook and im sure my photons hardware blows it out the water lol. I need a full fedora distro on this thing = perfect phone
That's pretty legit. I might actually ponder getting one if I don't get a tablet instead.

You know what, I had an Asus TF. Great device, great support. I traded it and went back to my NC running CM7 via Phirenook. 7 is such a good form factor, I slide it into my binder and have my text/web resources at my fingertips, right beside my notes. I have magazines on there and books, and with that screen...things are easy to read.
That being said, I'm hoping a 7" model of Xoom 2 is announced and or the Galaxy Tab 7 is price appropriate, because there is something incredibly utilitarian about a tablet the size of a paperback. My $.02.
Edit: Locks like the Lapdock is going to run $249. Hmmmm.

Document editor

Hey all, I'm looking for an app that can edit documents. I want to be able to hand write or sign documents. I deal with contracts daily and sometimes have to meet my clients mobile. Right now I'm using an iPad, but want to make the switch to a tablet. This is the only thing holding me back from the switch. Anyone know of such an app?
TIA!

Really? I have the paid version, I have never seen the option to be able to 'write' or sign on a document....

There's a couple here, but I can't verify personally that they work.

Love this line! LOL
Anyway, can you say a little bit more about what you are looking for? Are these Word documents you want to sign? What app are you currently using in the iOS world (so we can look it up and see what it does). If they are Word docs, are you comfortable converting them to PDF?
Also, with regards to writing, most tablets don't do very well unless they have something like a Wacom digitizer or similar tech in them. The iPad series doesn't have this. There are only a couple Android tablets that do (HTC Flyer, Thinkpad tablet) and there is a new Asus MeMo tablet that looks like it might support a stylus.
Now, if you are talking a more full blown "computer" tablet, then you might want to look at the Samsung Series 7 Slate or the Asus EP121 which would both do an excellent job for you but they come with a higher price tag (though not much higher than a 64gb iPad 2) and the battery life is a fraction of most modern day tablets.
Anyway, hope that helps.

Well I'm not sure you can hand write on a word document via PC ipad or android. But I know I can save a word doc to PDF and then edit (hand write) on the PDF. That is currently what I am doing on my iPad. That is what I would like to be able to do on an Android tablet...It works pretty well when I meet with my clients. Guess I'm just getting the bug to switch to Android tablet, but I don't know....hmm...

Universal Remote App, Logitech Harmony Style

I'm looking for a good app that would give me the same features that a Harmony universal remote gives me. I have a harmony remote and now that my phone has an IR Blaster, i guess i'd be ready to sell it if a good app comes by. The harmony remote works by grouping devices by activity. As an example, if i press watch TV, it would turn on my TV, set-top and amplifier and set all of those devices to the right input, same thing if i wanted to press Play Game, it would then turn off set-top and change TV input to HDMI 2.
I tried looking in the playstore but was not able to find anything that had over 2 stars.
Any suggestions?

I don't think the IR blaster's API is open to devs. I tried accessing it in a test app I made and wasn't able to. It's not handled by the system's SensorManager. I hope Samsung releases an API like HTC did for the One's IR blaster.
This IR sensor is going to be both a blessing and a curse. It reminds me of the days of my OG EVO which was one of the first android phones to have a front-facing camera. It wasn't until the next generation of devices that APIs for front-facing cameras became standardized and that meant wonky support for it early on.

The GS4 is actually the 4th or 5th device to be announced with an IR blaster. the galaxy tab has it, the note 8.0, the ONE has it and a huawai phone too. Back in your days, nobody gave a crap about the LG evo, that phone was not popular enough to motivate any devs. So it would be only logical now that 2 flagships from the 2 biggest android vendor have it that the first dev to do one might make tons of money. A good logitech harmony remote could cost 100 to 200$, i would pay 30$ for an app that does it all.
I'm pretty sure the Peel app that come's with the Note 10.1 does everything you mentioned. You can set up all your devices with the input they are on and then select what activity you want to do and it switches the inputs and powers on the devices (see screenshot). Either I just haven't figured out how yet or that capability did not get carried over to the WatchOn app.

Then we can speak some serious gaming! Can't stand tapping on the screen, nothing can replace real buttons.
To be honest i'm surprised by such heavy lag in Nova 3. Considering the fact that Mega 6.3 gets 57-59 in Epic Citadel benchmark, right up the with the most powerful mobiles right now, like SGS4. Why would that be?

Why did the mega lag so much on amazing spiderman? Was it really just not optimized for the mega?
Or is the gpu cpu of the mega not capable of handling it?

It's not optimised like other Gameloft games even an old HTC EVO 3d can play this game. Just needs an update.
Why I like gaming on the Mega 6.3:
Xperia Z
HTC One
Mega 6.3
Off screen buttons + bigger screen = better gaming experience
The on screen buttons use up to 1 cm of the screen and accidentally tapping the home button in the middle of playing a game will definitely annoy people. Maybe that's why Samsung chose the home button to be a physical button rather than a capacitive button.

yeah, it's pretty cool, playing with real buttons is so much better! these controllers are only $25 on eBay. Still waiting for Samsung to release their branded controller, which they annaunced this spring, or otherwise might get a PS3 controller, they are bigger and provide better grip.

The tablet built for G2 owners

For some reason LG has failed to advertise the LG G pad , The ui is identical to the G2 and you can use the qpair app to pair them together, I can even send text messages through my phone. The tablet is basically an 8.3 inch g2 with an expandable micro sd slot , dual speakers and the same beautiful screen as the G2. I just bought mine today and It is great. I came across it here on xda tonight and went to best buy and bought it. I am hoping that some of our awsome devs here will look into picking up one of these bad boys.

I'm about to buy a tablet and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.4 Pro is surely the better choise at its price than the gpad 8.3, specswise. On the other hand the qpair funcionality is way too cool to pass unnoticed. I searched but didn't find anything relevant, is there a similar app to qpair than can do the same job, at least to a certain extent? I mean direct communication between the devices, not syncing through 3rd party services like dropbox for photos or pushbullet for notifications.
How long did it take you to find a thread that's been dead for almost a year? Lol
