Iris requires Google voice search for its voice recognition. Based on some code i went through written by Dexetra, i think Google voice API is used and hence, it is hard coded... But somehow through the TP voice io settings, i enabled Vlingo instead of google voice search and ran Iris...and it was able to answer some questions...thing is, Vlingo is better than Google voice when it comes to voice recognition...but it can respond correctly only to some questions and is quite unstable...I wish iris was compatible with Vlingo as much as it is with Google voice search...

Hi, I have been trying out the offline google voice recognition feature and have been pretty darn impressed but there seems to be a caveat (not necessarily googles fault?) i can't seem to figure how if there is a way to get all/most applications to use it. That is, if i want to use evernote voice-to-text, or vlingo, or google voice I can't because they all ask for an internet connection. I am not sure if this is because they are using their own voice rec system or using google's old online voice rec but its proving to be a real hindrance as these applications are where voice rec is the most useful.
So, is there a way to trick or force these applications to use google's offline voice recognition or is that an impossibility?
cheers, -Gaiko
PS I heard a rumor that offline google translate was going to be an option at some point? Anyone else heard anything similar?
Hi
I noticed that the mic button of Samsung keyboard on any v4.1.2 rom is only available when Google search (The one with the annoying Google Now, aka velvet.apk) is installed. I've tried older Google Voice search instead of Google now but it did not work for the Sammy keyboard. Is there an alternative voice input/search to google now? Can velvet.apk be patched so it will only provide voice search/input functionality but not appear as a search app that runs in the background?
Any tip will be welcomed
Thanks
Hi everyone!
I found this app that lets you bypass the "Teach the Assistant to recognize your voice" page that renders voice commands useless on non Pixel phones.

This is driving me crazy.
If I do a new voice activated search in chrome the result is spoken/read out aloud on the phone.
I have tried the settings option in the Google app, gone to “ voice” and changed to hands free only (the only other option is “on”).
But if I open a new chrome window or tab. Then use my voice to search Google the result is still read out as a summary.
I just want to be able to use my voice to activate the search but have the results returned as normal as text.
Help!
Can we use another voice recognition without basic Google recognition (Google voice, google(velvet.apk),..)???

Click to collapse
from my own knowledge, i would say that this could not happen.
you need google/siri, because the sound you make will be analyzed through their "developed" system(algorithme) to get translated to tasks
