I am happy to release my Universal Naked Driver. This is to allow ADB, Fastboot & APX interfaces to work without installing any package much less multiples packages for users with multiple devices. Yes you can just install them and uninstall right away but why bother?
I was annoyed that I couldnt use my Transformer Prime and Galaxy Nexus without having versions and packages trip over each other. My previous post for the Sensation & Galaxy Nexus was helpful so I thought I would bring to XDA the newest Android driver available from source (which they call 4.0) and make it start talking.
Warning: Uninstall any previous driver package's you may have installed and also manually remove drivers by attaching your phone and going to Windows device manager and right click the entry for your phone and select "Uninstall" on the next prompt make sure to select "Delete the driver software for this device" then hit OK and reboot before installing these drivers
Code:
Google Nexus Devices ADB & Fastboot
Samsung Devices ADB & Fastboot
Asus Devices ADB, Fastboot & APX
HTC Devices ADB & Fastboot
Code:
[B]Windows 8 Instructions[/B]
How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
Enjoy!

Welcome I just used the new root from jcase with these and all is gravy. I couldn't have released these at a better time. I had them ready last week but lost motivation to release after the bootloader being locked. In light of today's announcement I finished them and posted as soon as I got home from real life.
Do these support HTC as well, or will I need to keep those drivers installed?

Not yet but this is the first package that works with all devices including HTC. I have not added them yet but I will be taking request for phones very soon, I just have to make a quick tutorial for any user to send me the ID's.
Once I add the phones its a nail in coffin scenario.
Only my nexus is showing up in adb =\ any suggestions?
I have both in USB Debugging and ive tried just 1 plugged in
So does this basically install the drivers for the prime in device manager? Is that what this is?
Worked like a charm, this is a great thing, really appreciate it, makes it much easier to do since I have several devices I use to root etc. Keep up the great work

Thanks for the feedback!
Just so everyone's knows their is really nothing beta about this other then your phone or device may not be added yet. =)
I will try to get a next update soon but its not easy work, not hard either but tedious and I work 65+ hours a week so I will try my best guys.
The good thing is if Goggle releases a new driver no work really needs to be done going forward.
Hm your driver doesn't work with my TF-201 in ICS OTA updated and finally, I using the ASUS Sync V1.0.76 in which working perfectly in my Windows.

Thanks for the details but I have seen not issue with the ICS update as the update would not change your device ID's which are not an OS specific.
I am sure this was a case of the having older driver files while also having multiple registry edits for the attempts of previous drivers.
I will write a small tutorial soon on how to remove old drivers thoroughly to avoid issues like this.
But these work fine with ICS and I am glad that you got your issue resolved at the end of the day.
Any idea why I would get:
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The parameter is incorrect.
Thanks for this... My GNexus decided to no longer be seen in adb, uninstalled drivers and installed this and hey presto... I'm back!
Cheers...
Thanks!! Looks like the link is dead though..can you re-up it?
Wait... How I install? Sorry if I be a n00blet but ???? I only ever seen drivers in an exe. I would be grateful if any one of you wonderful people could answer my question. Thank you and good day/night/evening/morning/afternoon.
Until I update with a better guide.

I will update a mirror soon when I release the upcoming version with HTC support, but it is also attached to the XDA OP post of this thread.
Thanks for this, I tried installing it for my Transformer Prime in Win7 x64, the drivers showed up happily (I had to force the install through device manager/browse devices/have disk).
It installed without any bangs, showed up in device manager as ASUS Transformer Prime ADB Interface or such, but adb devices doesn't show it up. I tried unplugging/replugging, uninstalling-reinstalling, nothing.
Also, with these drivers installed how can we switch between MTP mode and ADB mode? I don't want to lose access to my storage

Hello not sure why it will not show you your device when running "adb devices" but possibly from trying other drivers before?
Also this should not interfere with the MTP mode but I will check that as well.
HTC added, look forward to feedback

Yes at the moment this works with over 250+ devices. Adding more when I can.
I can't get this installed for my HTC One.
I uninstalled every USB driver I had installed. Plugged my Galaxy 8 back in, and updated one of the drivers to use these after downloading.
I tried ADB on My Galaxy 8 and it worked.
No matter what I try to remove, and install, or update the drivers for the HTC one I can't get it to go.
It says "the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. if the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based systems.
Any advice?
Thanks
I just manually install the appropriate driver (adb and fastboot for the respective devices dected in each mode) from the android SDK and ignore the warnings about it not being designed for this device. It works perfectly. I've done this with every android phone I've owned. Are there any benefits to doing this vs that?

That will work too, Universal Naked Driver helps with a few aspects:
1) East to find and download
2) SDK Drivers will not work with APX Tegra devices, these do!
2) Works with over 250+ devices
3) Nothing needs to be installed ever such as *.exe's or even the SDK.
4) These are becoming a standard on Windows as they are integrated in most root / tool kits as well, racking in well over a million downloads
Most people will not even want to install the SDK, then Java, etc...
Hope this helps

I've never had it not work, even on the tegra2/3 devices I've owned. Just make sure you pick the right driver when the phone is in each mode, and it'll remember it the next time you connect it and/or the next time you're in that mode.

And you see the device without any issues in in device manager? Is USB debugging enabled? Do you have the latest version of the SDK's driver?
I've used this method on every android device I've owned, this one included (on aosp and sense ROMs) without any issues.

Same hete, PC wont detect my HTC ONE. Is there any solution found yet?
new driver on HTC page works with Windows 8.1, but not in fastboot
It doesn't work in fastboot mode for Windows 8.1 Pro. Saddd!!
Specs: Windows 8 64-bit. Clean and restored HTC EVO 3D. HBOOT 1.58.0000.
I have tried almost everything, but I can't get my phone recognized in fastboot mode.
I tried what was listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39218156#post39218156

I was able to get mine working with the combo of
1. uninstalling any HTC sync or sync manager and the HTC BMP USB Driver. Basically anything HTC.
2. Install HTC sync. Not sync manager. Go to the HTC support page and you'll see both listed. If you go to the specific phone support page it might not be there. (One S doesn't have the sync program, just sync manager iirc.)
3. Download PDAnet. When installing, It'll give a warning that you already have drivers installed and ask if you want to fix them or leave as is. I chose it to fix and it went though its process and I had working drivers after that.
I think this was already suggested before. I going back and giving thanks wherever due after this post. (On the mobile app right now)
Other easy way if you're using a One S is to download Hasoon2000's All-On-One Toolkit. He's updated the drivers for windows 8. I haven't tried it yet as mine are working so haven't had the need. I would assume his tool for any of the other phones he supports would have the updated drivers too.

And the phone is recognized fine when in regular mode. Though, whenever I reboot the phone into the Bootloader using adb, it restarts into the fastboot, but it doesn't change to "Fastboot USB" and shortly after I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" on my PC and it saying something about it malfunctioning. So I get stuck on "Waiting for device" when trying out this command "fastboot oem get_identifier_token."
Any ideas? I'm trying to unlock the bootloader and root so that I can install custom ROMs and kernels.
Hey there! Sorry my fix didn't work for you.
My question is, are you running windows 8 or 8.1? The reason I ask is because the 8.1 update has broken fastboot apparently. I don't remember the last time I tried on my computer to see if fastboot still works or not since I updated to 8.1.
If you are running 8.1 windows then the guide at droid-now.com seems to have worked for many people. Go to that site and search fastboot fix windows 8.1 or you could just Google that too I guess. I would paste the link right now but my phone is being stupid and not letting me paste it ATM. :-|
If that doesn't work then you may be able get what you need done by dual booting into Ubuntu if you feel comfortable doing so. You could easily make a bootable flash drive that you could boot into just for an emergency. I just used one for about 4 days while fixing my computer after I accidentally erased the partition tables of my hard drive, trying to make a permanent installation of Ubuntu. Got it fixed BTW! ats self on back:
Keep us posted if you get it fixed or have any more questions! I hope I've been at least a little helpful. I'll try to help any more I can if possible!
Good luck!

I am running Windows 8.1, however it looks like the fix only applies to Intel motherboards connecting through USB 3.0 ports. I do have USB 3.0 ports, but my motherboard is AMD and my USB3 controller reads "VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)." I'm not sure that the fix applies to me, unfortunately. Also, I am not connecting my phone to my PC using the USB3.0 ports.
I tried downloading the USB 3.0 Drivers for Windows 8 64-bit on the manufacturer's website for my motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305), but when I try to update my drivers to the ones I got from the website it says that the Microsoft provided ones are the most recent/ up to date drivers.

Be Advised, there is perhaps a way , you wil find in the link below, but be sure to use the right intel driver And only if you hae an intel chipset for usb3 , please read the comments and my bad experience :
Under win8.1/X64 that if you have(like me) an Intel 8 /c220 (or with a 4th generation like intel I7 4770k) you may encounter a big mess , and perhaps you''l have to do a clean install of win 8.1 : all the usb2 DEVICES were disconnected after the first iusb3xhc.inf driver install !! So no more usb/Bluetooth keyboard+mouse , fortunately i had an old ps2 keyboard and i was able to delete only with "tab/alt Tab/ctrl tab" keys the
"intel usb3 extensible " line in device manager, and as soon as i done a refresh (ALT+A) in device manager the previous driver(Microsoft) was reinstalled by win 8.1 andall the usb2 devices connected (mouse/keyb/hub etc)
http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windo...#comment-19066
see there there's in the last comments at the bottom , Andrew(tks to him!)a link + modified drivers for intel8/c220)
and for me it worked mouse/keyB were functional during all the process
next step check the fastboot adb is working now
Here you go... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
A later post I made (I havent updated the OP, shame on me...) is a link to some universal drivers from CWM that works fantastic! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40108463#post40108463
Before trying this I would goto your device manager and right click on the currently installed drivers and uninstall them before installing the drivers again.
Hope that helps. I am using the link found in that second link and fastboot and adb works perfect. Also, while you can boot into fastboot, stock 1.58 will not let you run a lot of fastboot commands and will need to flash a different hboot.
Hey!
This is my first time posting, but I have read tons of threads on here over the last year or so with my Droid DNA.
A while ago, I rooted my DNA, and unlocked the Bootloader, and used moonshine for S-OFF. I now want to undo all that I have done. Wiping data is no issue, I backed up all my info. I plan to get a new phone soon. Basically, I can't get adb drivers to work. So I deleted my drivers, and installed the ones mentioned in the thread linked below, and I can't find how to get these drivers to work.
My plan is to follow this thread, using step 3 (for moonshine). I have TWRP installed, and flashed the lock_bootlader.zip file provided there. I cannot get adb to work, however, for the next step. For example, "adb devices" returns no devices. And thus i cannot use adb commands. When I run "adb devices", it shows this. What do I do??
Thanks
Some more clarification:
I might also add that Device manager shows my phone as "HTC6435LVW", under "Portable Devices". It seems to recognize it as an MTP Device when I try to update the drivers, and won't let me update the drivers, because "The best driver software for your device is already installed".
In addition, HTC Sync Manager does not recognize my phone either. I should mention that I already chose "Reset Phone" from the Settings menu, and then also did a Factory Reset from TWRP.
I'm so confused by all this - Why can't I get ADB to recognize it?? I have been and will continue to be searching for solutions to this problem here on XDA and also on Google. And do I even need to do all this to give my phone back to Verizon?
Try getting the drivers from PDAnet. If you are using Windoze 8 or 8.1 , good luck.

I tried that, it gets stuck at the USB Driver Installation page, when it asks to connect your phone. I have USB debugging enabled, and I even installed PdaNet on my phone to try to use their "USB Mode". The DNA has not USB options for Mass Storage, etc like the pdanet driver help page ( pdanet . co / driver ) (It wont let me post a link because I'm a new user, sorry) tells me to look for.
Windows device manager does not recognize it as an Android phone, but instead as a portable device, could this be a problem?

Hi friends,
Been reading a lot on XDA lately. The idea is to flash my tf201, which I just bought for small money, to a more recent rom. A lot of threads with tutorials on xda date from 2011 and 2012 so a lot might be outdated or obsolete. I have reasonable skills like working with windows/linux/command line, but a lot of therms used sound quite new to me.
So my question; does anyone know a good recent tutorial on youtube how to do the job with windows 10? Where can i find the right tools to do this job?
Thanx in advance,
Steve
1st step is to unlock the stock bootloader, the file can be found here; http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF201/UnLock_Device_App_V6.apk
If I remember, I was able to run this via the file manager.

Thanks Nektopoli,
Got the prime unlocked using the [Guide/tutorial] Asus Transformer Prime/TF201 stock to Android 7.1 Nougat on this forum.
Now got stuck on part 4b NVflash.
Have the universal naked drivers installed but as soon as i connect the asus in APX mode, the pc (windows10) does not recognise the asus and says "unknown usb device, request for driver signing failed" instead of an external drive called APX.
Tried installing in Windows device manager, didn't work.
Did the trick with advanced startup settings to disable driver signing, didn't work either.
I used an old Windows 7 laptop and Minimal ADB and Fastboot, I don't think anyone has had any luck using a Windows 10 system.

I tried installing the drivers on a win7 32 and 64 bit laptops. Both times i get error "The INF File You selected does not support this method of installation".
Next i tried on both to install with device manager. Connecting the tab in APX mode gives an "unknown device" as windows notification. When i manually update the driver using install from disk it says: the selected folder does not contain a compatibel driver for your device.
Any ideas?

I'm sorry for my short, but honest, comment.
But Windows is notorious for its quirks of allegedly mismatched drivers.
This rarely happens with Linux.

My SXZ5C (and SXZ1C) were not listed with 'fastboot devices'. So I installed this https://adb.clockworkmod.com/ and then (more or less) followed a guide :
1) Device manager
2) Right click on device (the android device with the yellow warning signal).
3) 'Update driver'
4) 'Browse my computer for drivers'
5) 'Let me pick from a list [...]'
6) Clicked the only one that appeared (don't remember it's name, because now my SXZ5C is installed as 'Android Composite ADB Interface' and not as whatever it was before I succeeded). Also possible it has nothing to do with the Universal ADB Drivers linked at the beginning, because I already installed a bunch of different stuff I don't remember.)
7) Then I could proceed as planed as my devices were now listed.
That is the guide I used : https://stackoverflow.com/a/35076765
Adb works here under windows 11 with the drivers bundled by microsoft like a charm.

since i usually use windows 10 for pretty much everything, i do need a sorta walkthrough on how to install the drivers on ubuntu, cause im not really up to date with this terminal stuff
Code:
sudo apt-get install adb fastboot
The package that comes with Ubuntu Mate is broken, adb-pair does not work, how you will get on I don't know, it may be better to use the official adb.
There are instructions for installing adb on Linux here
Using ADB and fastboot | LineageOS Wiki
wiki.lineageos.org
Just extract adb somewhere and add it to your $path
I'm using the adb version that came with Xubuntu since many years now without any problems.
Is this problem solved? A feedback would be nice...

I gave the phone to my friend and he just hasn't been out with it for a bit, but what I do remember is not knowing how to install adb, how to run anything since I was using Ubuntu from Rufus on a usb (not installed) and yeah, a walkthrough or something would hundred percent be appreciated
In the post #10 is a kind of walkthrough...
