I just have a general question about data consumption using my Rezound vs using the open garden tethering app.
Last night I watched a show on HBO Go on my Ipad, and I was wirelessly tethered to my Rezound using open garden. It was a 30 minute show and used about 400 MB. My question is, if I watched that same show using the HBO Go app on the Rezound, would it use roughly the same amount of data or less?

Most likely the same. I've tested with Netflix using my phone, asus transformer, and laptop.. and its all pretty much exactly the same amount of data per 1 hour show.

i just stream movies from my pc through playon onto my phone playon app. That way i dont have pay for streaming sites and i get a bigger variety of movies and stuff
You guys must be having an extended battery or something.
You guys must also be outside USA because all 3 major carriers throttle you after you reach your monthly cap and streaming video is quickest way to hit that cap

Since Samsung is only releasing a 16GB version of the tablet here in Canada, there's no option for 32gb unless ordering from the US. After base o/s install, there is roughly 12GB free. Has anyone bought the 16GB and found it to too limiting? 12GB is probably plenty of room for quite a few app installs, but adding videos would kill it real quick. The omission of an sd card slot is really disappointing, but it is what it is. Buying an android tablet unfortunately seems to be more about making compromise than anything.

So far 16GB's seems to be more than enough for me. It really depends on how you set your self up. Here's a couple of things I've done to help give me a bit more usable room on my Tab.
1. Use online storage like Dropbox and Box.net and their android apps. With Dropbox you can get 2GB's free and if you get other people to sign up from a link you email them you can get more free storage. I got most of my family and a few friends to sign up this way, I'm up to 5GB's of free online storage with Dropbox alone. Box.net you can get another 5GB's of free online storage for free just for signing up. I use both of these to store all of my wallpapers, icons pictures and such. Saves a ton of room and makes everything available to me no matter where I am. You can use these sites from your Tab or your phone by using their apps or any laptop or desktop by going to their sites.
2. If you plan on using your Tab for work things like word docks, spreadsheets and PDF's... Use Google Docs, I've been using Google Docs for the last few years now and haven't even come close to using up the space they give you for free. I'm a chef and use it to keep all of my recipes, cost control documents... Again for the same reasons I stated above. I've also started using EverNote over the last year and now that I have my Tab I find myself using it even more. Being a chef I'm very much into keeping a running record of the food and dishes I make. With EverNote I can snap a picture with my eVo of a special or new dish and make a few key quick notes, then on the train ride home at the end of the day I can edit that note on my Tab to make it more detailed.
3. For your music you can use any number of online music storage sites. I use Googles Music Beta, again for the reasons i've stated before. I can get to everything in my collection from anywhere, on my phone, my Tab and any computer anywhere.
Those 3 things alone save a ton of space on my Tab as well as my eVo and make it very easy for me to access all of my stuff from anywhere.
It should leave you with more than enough space on your Tab for any number of apps. As for movies, just make sure that they are formated right. And how many times can you watch the same movie over again, once you've watched vid or movie just either delete it or one it to your computer.
I have over 50 apps installed on my Tab, all of the StarWars movies, and I mean all of them 1 through 6 and some other movie with Mat Damon in it. And I still have over 7GB's free memory.
Live in the cloud brother... Make thing a bit easier.

16 is enough for me...i put many games on my tab, mostly HD. also put movies but only when i want to watch on the go, usually the one not finish watching yet, no need to bring all movies with the tab as i have another storage for my media collection...

16GBs isn't enough for me. Typically most one hour 720P HD video clips will take up anywhere from 1.5 to 1.9GBs and that leaves me little room for music. Despite using spotify, dropbox, pandora, and netflix i still can't keep enough media to last me for a trip longer than 5 hours
A quick question to you guys: are the 32/64 bit versions not available anywhere in Europe? For me 16GB is definitely not enough. I am struggling with 32GB on my current Galaxy Tab 7"....

You must be very spoilt person.. If you can't find anything that will keep you entertained for more than 5hrs it means there is something wrong with you
2-3 films will take what 7gb at most? Tats roughly 6hrs...

um ok. I guess you've never been on a long road trip or train ride. There is only so many times you can watch the same movie/video over again.
16GB is definitely enough for what most people use tablet for. But it's true that there are times where i do store HD movies in the tab and i wish i could store more HOWEVER it's definitely not enough to justify getting 32gb for $100 more
This has been discussed to some extend here: Is 16GB enough?
For me it's more than enough. With all the cloud space everywhere I don't need more. I have with me the stuff I really need/want and everything else is available only via an internet connection.
That might not be an option for someone else. That person needs to wait for/get a 32/64 GB model. I'm perfectly happy with the 16 GB.

That's what the USB adapter and two USB thumb drives are for.
64GB extra instead of 16GB extra for $100 extra.
with apps like google music and netflix i have yet to run out of space on my 16gb.
I bought the 16GB version today. I almost mail ordered a 32gb from the US, but then I thought if I have hardware issues I might be out of luck. I plan to get the USB adapter which I can only find on ebay right now.

Has anyone tried out the slingplayer for tablet app? The cracked one I had for my phone doesn't work on the tablet. I'm debating on shelling out the 30 bucks for the tablet version, but it's had some mixed reviews on the Android Market.
I've been using it without any issues so far.
I originally thought I had an issue because it would only show standard quality, and wouldn't go to high quality at all. But I found out my router dropped the port forwarding for some reason. Once that was corrected the HQ showed back up on first reconnect and all is good.

Are you running ICS? Which slingbox are you using?
I have the Dish Remote Access tablet app for streaming live TV and DVR content and it works great. One of the perks of being a dish customer I guess... I got the SlingBox for free and the app is free.
I have a Slingbox Solo. Some people on android market said it didn't work with certain models or firmware on certain models. Some also complained that it didn't work on ICS.
I just can't believe they charge 30 bucks for that app and if you want it on your phone, that's another 30 bucks. I know you can't use the web plugin on the Prime... also lame. However, I guess it's working for them because I'm still planning on getting it. One of the key reasons I bought a tablet to begin with.
I use the dish version and it works good

Im using the Slingplayer for phones app on my Prime running ICS and haven't had any problems with it. I originally paid 30 bucks for it back on my EVO 4G and have used it on every device since then. It installs automatically as soon as I log in with my google account. Hell I didnt even know there was a Tablet version.

I'm on ICS, and I've got the Slingbox Pro-HD.
Used the phone version for a few days, then switched to the tablet version. Only downside, is they overcharge for the app by at least 20 bucks.
The version I have for the phone doesn't even work on the tablet. It installs, but it won't launch. Granted it is an older version that was cracked... I was still surprised it doesn't work at all.
Oh well... looks like I will probably pay for the tablet version. Thanks for the input everyone!

The tablet version is supposed to have some HD functionality on it that the phone version doesn't have. Some of the reviews say it was way better picture quality than using the phone version on the tablet.

I purchased the Slingbox client, it "does" have the HQ feature. It also works on ICS.
Decided to purchase it last night. Picture is good on the Prime with ICS. It lacks the quick controls for the DVR like the phone app. Hopefully, they will improve the UI a bit.

Hello. I've got a Slingbox that won't stream HQ in the Android App, just like you.
I've checked my port forwarding and everything looks in order. How do you know that the Forwarding has been dropped and how did you fix it?
Your help is greatly appreciated...

You can rotate phone screen to landscape and go full size with the window. Doesn't use the whole screen, but pretty close. Basically you just maximize the mobile view.

looking at the Atrix, because I did have the galaxy nexus
but it was just to big for my hand (I have medical condition that = pain if I stretch to far with my fingers n thumb)
So I traded it for the 4s (to keep value in the hand set till a decent sub 3.5" to 4" android dual core phone tuned up on the market.)
Some how I totally missed the Atrix
I see ICS is due sometime soon
but the GingerBlur ROM look perfect for the time being.
happy Atrix hunting.
Pulled the trigger, I get the Atrix on friday.
It started out as a T-Mobile UK, currently have unlocked running atrix neutrino ee 2.7
Hi @ XDA
Today I notice that my mobile data cap had been hit on my plan. Looking at my data usage, I see that the Amazon Shopping app has used nearly 3 gigs of data in the last 48 hours. This is clearly absurd and looking at prior months the app has used only in the 10s of megabytes. Does anyone have any insight as to why this could occur? What could be chewing through that amount of data?
Amazon Shopping version 20.20.0.100 running on pixel 2xl on Android 11
Regards
somewhere in your settings under developer options it should give you option to end activities of app when close. Thus the app will not run in the background.
