Asus Transformer Prime
The Transformer Prime has no UMTS module, so tethering.
[Q]
- Bluetooth tethering uses less power as W-lan tethering?
- Does anyone have any app (android) where Tether via bluetooth support?
- Samsung S2 Galaxy tethering to Asus Prime Transformer is this possible?
PDANET tablet does this for you.. i got it connected one time and now i can't get it to work.. no clue what i am doing wrong.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm now pairing with my OGD on SteelDroid 9.0, and it works great.
No app needed. Just adjusted the setting on the Prime (Wireless & Networks -> Bluetooth -> Paired Devices -> {Settings Icon for the device I wanted to connect through} -> Internet access [checked])
Not sure if internet connection sharing is available via Bluetooth on all stock phones/ stock ROMs, but it's worth a shot.
I have a stock Droid X and this works for me...with ICS too, which, I thought, was supposed to cost extra money. I don't know if this is a 'loophole' or intentional or if Verizion is going to smack me with a higher bill if they notice, but it does work.
On my Nexus, I had to go in to tethering and hotspot and click on Bluetooth tethering as well, not just the settings button on the device I wanted to tether to.
This was an awesome tip! I turned off my wireless for home network, connected to my Droid 2 via bluetooth, never saw a wrench anywhere, so opened dolphin browser just to test, and here we are! Amazing. Thanks so much!
I use the ame Wireless tether app that's was used for wifi tethering for BT tethering. It has an option inside the settings of it to use BT tethering instead. Simple setup n works. I figured it out once wifi tethering stop wrong after ICS. Some of these other ones people listing you have to do tons of setup n all that. All I do is pair n connect devices, cut on BT tether option in Wireless tether app. And I'm good to go. Fast, Easy, n Simple

I can't seem to tether my internet connection to my xoom through bluetooth. It says, paired but not connected. And it won't connect. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
I've never tried it through Bluetooth, but why don't you try WiFi Tether instead? It should perform better than BT.
Cheers!

If it doesn't work natively then search for an app from the market or online. If you get one online make sure you get an antivirus...

PDAnet http://junefabrics.com/android/
Read up on it, it supports usb teather to a computer, or bluetooth/wifi to a computer or another phone.
PRemoteDroid is an awesome app! It allows for wifi or bluetooth remote access to your synced computer. Check it out...I use it in my classroom all the time!

was just wondering if anyone has used a usb ethernet card so we can use the prime on the lan??
have developers made anything for this to work? it would be the last thing that would make this little beast a full netbook imo.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4439480&CatId=589
with a card like this? maybe?
thanks
I don't know myself other than it must be possible. As on that popular splashtop THD video that floating about, they were having to access their PC from the Prime via ethernet cable as wifi performance there was poor.
Would be handy so I could steam HD media at other end of house.
I'd be interested to know if my SMC USB - Ethernet adaptor would work. I heard rumours that the Apple one was plug and play in ICS, but I haven't got one to test sadly..
I thought there was a driver pack in the dev forum...

With ICS I have hooked up a HP usb to ethernet adapter and use it at work. I use droidproxy to get past my works proxy server.
I didn't install any additional modules it just works right from the dock.
there is another thread talking about this too.
but the gist of it is a few of us have gotten various usb models to work.
if you install a terminal program you can run an ifconfig eth0 to see the configuration after the adapter is plugged in.
there is no native software to view the ip address from a gui.
also you can setup a static address by running an ifconfig eth0 <ip address> <netmask>
[sidenote ifconfig wlan0 will show your wireless configuration] it is highly recommended you disconnect your wireless lan before attempting to connect via the wired ethernet.
hope this info is helpful.

Im looking to get a portable mouse and keyboard for my Galaxy Tab 7.7 to carry around with me as travelling companions. Keyboard needs to be compact and portable but with good feedback and all the right buttons. Any particular recommendations?
Hi,
I'd be interested in anyone's experiences with this as well. Anyone?
Note: my tab is not rooted or modded in anyway.
Here are the bluetooth devices i tried.
(Mouse)
Logitech v470 bluetooth mouse for netbooks
Apple Magic mouse
(Keyboard)
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Here are the results:
Apple Magic mouse - Does not work at all. (it does pair, and display as a input device.. but no cursor or response will work)
v470 bluetooth mouse - Works very well, shows up as Bluetooth Laser Travel Mouse.
Apple Wireless keyboard - Type on the stock browser lag, and it cause my attached v470 to lag as well! .. right now i do not know it is a keyboard issue or the bluetooth on the tab that cause this.
So i guess i might go get a logitech bluetooth keyboard for tablet to try it out
Thanks electro.
To add and answer my own question.
I am typing this on a Microsoft "Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000", which includes a touchpad. Both elements work a treat.
Is there a way to get a bluetooth keyboard/mouse to connect to the Tab without using the dongle? I~ ask because the tab would be a great replacement for my media PC under the TV if only I could attache the HDMI and get bluetooth to work with HIDs at the same time... As it is HDMI requires a pass-through in the power lead so there is no way to attach the bluetooth dongle. It is more than a little annoying that my £100 cheapo tab has seperate USB and HDMI connection and can do just this!
---------- Post added at 03:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:38 PM ----------
Aha! Found a way to do it! Just connect your bluetooth HID devices without using the dongle... It's obvious really when you think about it.
Anyway, I managed to do this with the above keyboard/mouse using an app on the Market which allows you to do just that - Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect. You tab needs to be rooted and the instructions are not necessarily clear. If you do try it, to connect you need to go back to the standard bluetooth interface, make you HID discoverable (push the button?) and then scan for bluetooth devices. Once it is found and you pair you then need to go back to the app and select the HID in there as well.
So now I have a nice extremely small media pc (but not) under the TV. Films, music, internet, work all there and controlled from my sofa.
If you want a really portable bluetooth keyboard and touchpad combo, check out

They have newer versions of what I have, (RT-MWK02), but mine works really well. Very easy to pair up. Compact and light.
Typing does take a little bit getting use to but once you do, it works out great.
Haven't have any issues. Touch pad is real nice.
I've picked it up on Amazon.
Just got a Verizon GS and am noticing that my typical setup, Watch on left hand, BT headset in right ear I get constant disconnects with
my Bluetooth headset.
The connection will drop and the call audio will revert to the speaker on the watch.
I have tried disabling WiFi and GPS with no success.
Anyone else having this issue?

I don't have this issue but I did have a similar problem when I was using a Sony BT headset with my old Galaxy Gear.
I corrected this issue with an excellent app called "Bluetooth Auto Connect"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.btautoconnect
It's useful for prioritising bluetooth devices. It might be helpful, then again the Gear S does have unusual connection bridging. It's worth a go.

Its a BT 4.0 headset, its the new Jawbone ERA, no issues with other devices.
Hi,
I`m using a Plantronics headset, which works fine with my Samsung S4 (and all other phones).
Now, I`ve tried to connect the headset to my Gear. The connection itself works fine and without any problem.
But, and that`s angrily, I can use the headset only when the Gear is not connected via BT to my mobile (S4).
Inside the Tel-App, the headset symbole is not shown (greyed out), but inside the BT Headset configuration profile shown as "paired".
If I disconnect my BT connection between the mobile and the Gear, the headset works at once with the gear.
Many configurations checked, I`ve no more ideas.
Any hint?
Thanks in advance, tregobad
Update:
I`ve checked again how it works.
My Headset (Plantronics 725) is connected with the mobile AND Gear S.
Mobile and Gear are connected via BT.
If I get a call, both devices ringing (Multi Sim). Doesn`t matter if I accept the call at the mobile OR Gear, i can use the Headset.
But , if I accept the call at the Gear and use the Headset, the mobile is used and connected with the Headset.
That means:
mobile and Gear BT connected = Headset connects to mobile
disconnected = Headset connect to the device you be beside, mobile OR Gear

I'm experiencing an issue that may be related. I have my Gear S connected with my Note 4 and when I turn on a BT headset that's only paired to my Note 4, the Gear S disconnects. I then manually go and reconnect my Gear S to my Note 4.
Is there a way to keep the Gear S connected to my Note 4 when I turn on my BT headset? Or will the Gear S always disconnect from my Note 4 when a different audio device connects to the Note 4?
SOLVED! see my reply below
Hello all.
I just got my new LG V30. An amazing smartphone.
Only trouble I have is volume sync when using my Sennheiser PXC550 bluetooth.
Volume up and down on the headset does not sync with volume on the phone.
I have tested some other headset and the only one I managed to test out that the sync worked was with Sony WH-1000XM2.
Anyone here tested other headset and it's working?
Problem SOLVED!
LG Nordic raised the question to LG South-Korea and they came back with the following answer and solution:
"Volume sync with bluetooth can only be guaranteed with certain tested devices.
The list is as follows;
LG HBS series, Sony MW600 / WH-1000XM2 / WH-1000X,
Apple BeatsSolo Wireless, Plantronics Backbeat Go,
Jabra MOVE / COACH / PULSE, Bose QuietComfort 30/35,
B&O H5 / H7 / H9 / H9i
This is also probably given if they have the correct AVRCP version.
Regardless; We have a tip that can make it work anyway;
1. Connect smartphone with Bluetooth headset.
2. Settings> Network> Bluetooth> Select the headset settings icon (right)>
Edit the name of the device> Rename the device name as "ABS-DO-ENABLE".
3. Disconnect the headset> Reconnect the headset."
I have testet this on my Sennheiser PXC550 and it works!
Volume now syncs on BT.
Hey thanks a thousand times! I have the same headset (PXC 550). The best piece of hardware I ever owned. I will try that tip because this was the only point I disliked.
So lucky I came across your thread

Worked for me too! Thanks again.
Nice tip! Works for my BT headset also. Any idea how to make it work for more than one BT device - not connected at the same time, but I have a few different headsets.
Thanks for this. Just got it working with my Jabra elite 65t. Was driving me crazy!

This was driving me bonkers too, but I think I've got it figured out. Name each device with the same prefix, but add a bit to the end to specify which each is. Here's how I have it set up:
ABS-DO-ENABLE (headphones)
ABS-DO-ENABLE (car)
ABS-DO-ENABLE (speakers)
Wonky, yeah, but at least it's working now.
Hey there,
i can confirm this workaround exept on behalf of the of the time this is working. When i delete my device from known devices and reconnect it afterwards while renaming it to the above pattern it works exactly one time. After a reconnect it behaves like before. Im assuming there might be some side effect regarding the used connection protocol. Do you know which AVRCP Version is used at your device ?

Hi, @Tymo55.
My headphone device, Sennheiser PXC550, uses AVRCP ver. 1.5 according to the manual.
I recommend you run the native LG app "Smart doctor", "optimize device" and reboot your LG V30-phone.
