What specific error?
can you update ota if you're rooted? i thought i read somewhere that you can't? or is that only if you are unlocked bl?
For convenience/less errors it is highly recommended to have a fresh firmware. No root, locked bootloader. For you to update via OTA, Sony Update Service, or PC Companion.
When the BlueBox appear after download and restart the phone The phone restart again and appears a Box saying there was a problem, try again

Have you tried using PC companion or SUS?
just to confirm that you CAN update a rooted LT26i.
just use PCC or SUS
its all good.
p.s for some reason the size of the OTA update download is much smaller that the update download done by PCC/SUS (almost 400MB) maybe this why many have complained it doesn't work.
For me it makes no difference OTA or via PC, both are failing. I have an unlocked bootloader with that Swiss ICS rom which was published around 20th of June, a few days after the ICS release. ( LT26_6.1.A.0.452_Generic_CH_1257-3740_.ftf )
Could that be a reason for the update to fail?

You can't update with unlocked boot loader on those programs. Use flash tool.

Why did you OTA after unlocking ??
Search the fota unbrick or see the sticky threads for the method. And never update over the air or using PC companion after unlocking

Never install OTA Updates on unlocked bootloader!
To get rid of it uninstall the UpdateCenter.apk
Its just one of those mini updates. 15.8mb its a system update,

hmmm...if i still remember it correctly, open update center, there should be showing there an update...press menu button then press option/preferences....inside there you can choose to update via network or wifi only...choose wifi only...reboot then the update icon will disappear from your status bar....
to fully remove it, just uninstall update center from your system files.....
Luckily, you have still not updated it using OTA. If you do that, you will brick your phone!! Download root browser or any file explorer as soon as possible and go to /system/app and delete UpdateCenter.apk. You can also use titanium backup to remove it.
Do not worry ota update doesnt work after rooting with unlocked bootloder u may even brick... Only way is to flash

Got a ota updatw to 4.3 but halfway intalling ota, it would just stop. Please advice. I am on a sim free with a lock bootloader.

Fire up Sony PC Companion on your computer and update through that instead.
I was hoping to have this ota file and hopefully retain root...

Just flashed ftf 14.B.1.532, rerooted it and tried to update again and update file mb increased but still won't complete intallation process...

You'll lose root either way. Just update it through PCC and root it.

Thanks for the reply. So, is my only option is to do the unlock and relock bootloader root procedure?

I believe so on 4.3 (.290)
As time goes on this might be the only way to get root - the more secure Sony/Google (or any OEM) make android the harder it will be to find exploits to gain root.
Did you tried like this
1.Before update simply open superuser settings 2.scroll down to the bottom enable Pro 3.check survival mode 4.uncheck Enable superuser 5.install ota update 6.after reboot enable superuser
LordManhattan and blueether is correct. Tried 3 times what chemcup suggested and the ota update just would stop halfway... Hopefully that they would go easier on the next upcoming update...

- Unlock the bootloader
- Flash 290
- Flash modified kernel via fastboot
- DO NOT relock the bootloader, the phone won't boot otherwhise.
Hello, Ive just rooted my z2 with towelroot on .55 and installed the xposed framework. I received the ota update from .402, is it possible to update without losing root? Like with superSU's survival mode?
Already thank you
With OTA survival it should Survive the OTA update
Try it, if you lose root you can simply reroot easily enough

Thanks, but should I delete the xposed framework? They say that xposed framework screws the update up.
Unlock bootloader -> Flash .402 FTF with flashtool -> Flash insecure kernel via fastboot
Even if you lose the root... I think root for .402 is out already.

should work regardless of the bootloader status. ie. you don't need to unlock bootloader.
