[Q] F5 SSL, tun kernel module, help! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Has anybody here successfully gotten the F5 rooted client to work? My work uses firepass ssl for vpn connections. I desperately need to get it to work... The app installs and runs fine, but even with correct server settings, it simply will not connect to my works vpn. The same app in iOS works.
I've read that I need a "tun.ko" kernel module for this to work. I have no idea what that is, how to get it, and how to install it. I am rooted. Anybody know what this is? Suggestions? Did an XDA search and found many posts, but they are device– specific.

If you need a tun.ko kernel you will have to wait until Asus unlocks our boot loader for someone to make a kernel for us

*sigh* guess the good news is that I will eventually be able to unlock it. Does ICS have this tun.ko thing built–in?

Bluex might do, or does the trick.....
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-alex-bluetoothfileshare-jznE.aspx
Bluetooth API is not yet in the SDK/Framework, caues it wasn't finished and need
rework (they don't wanna add an unfinished and unflexible API on which they get
stucked for years, cause of compatibility to already existing software)

I believe BlueX does not currently work on Hero. I could be wrong, but this certainly used to be the case.
Regards,
Dave
Bluex dont work, cant send or receive any file.
thanks
From what I've read you need to Root your Hero for BlueX to work. I always find this entertaining as BlueX is always in the top 10 paid apps in the android market. How many people have rooted their Hero?
when i select search devices on bluex, show "Error in local device(Power disabled?)". but bluetooth is on and is discovered.

adb gives error: parse failed no certificates.
oh well, wouldnt have used it much anyway, just wanted to try it. I will wait until they support our device.
If you want to try to run it, you might try using APK tool or somethinr and signing it yourself, or If your handy with code, create a flashable update-zip, that allows you to bypass this error.
Thanks again
Works great on my stock 347.
Download and install HBO GO (v1.0301) from the Market. Pick your provider and sign in. Sign up HBO GO (if you haven't).
You can suspend 3G and limit to Wi-Fi only in the Video Playback option under Settings/Preferences.

[DEV] 2nd-init Compiled and Running

So I have been working on this for a while trying to get things to cross compile, and i got this to compile it is the Source and the program runs on the nook. Next we will have to write our new init.rc to mount our own os. Someone will have to help me with some research, but I just thought you should know.
Here are the files:

Jeeze idk, i completely forgot about this thread until you guys posted on it. I never did to much testing. This was mostly done in concurrence with the Kexec-Mod since i had the toolchain up and running. If i remember correctly it did generate the second init file, don't know if it ever loaded it, but i can work on it some more if people want. I was hoping some one would point me in the direction they needed me to go with this.

Pratically.. it's the method with many motorola phone (with locked bootloader) can run custom roms like cyanogemod.
However the problem is it requires kexec mod.

Sorry, but you're wrong.
From this source use the Hijack method. This mean you can instal a custom rom, but you can't replace the kernel or bootloader.
From the source:
It's also important to remember that 2nd-init does NOT unlock the bootloader, nor does it allow you to run a custom kernel. It simply allows us to utilize the kernel that is there for our own means
Click to collapse
That method is good enough to run CM9 and it's relative simple to port.
The kexec method is something different, but better: is a system call that enables you to load and boot into another kernel from the currently running kernel.
kexec performs the function of the boot loader from within the kernel.... essentially a hijack to allow us to call another kernel as a function of the stock one, allowing us to bypass the locked bootloader.
Source
Someone has had success with this method
See this twitter feed:
http://twitter.com/androidnemith
@AndroidNemith just have seen your photo with the CWM on the Nook tablet. How did you do that since the Bootloader is locked ?
@PetePetePete1 Hijacking . Same way moto defy and others are doing it. Right now i am kicking it manually looking for a better way now.
@AndroidNemith can you show your current state XDA developers, because they are still searching for a method to get a custom bootloader

Could you post the way it's supposed to do this? I'd like to learn how but i'm, as you can imagine, a newbie at this.
Update: i've found a temporary Workaround:
First of all notice that i needed the ad-hoc connection to use my tab in junction to my android phone when i'm on the move.
Said that I've found the way to share the phone connection via bluetooth: Obviously isn't fast as a proper wifi, but until someone (daveba ?) will patch the wpa_supplicant, this is the only solution.
On my phone i've downloaded from the play store Foxfi. There I have activated the bluetooth dun connection.
On tablet side i've downloaded from the play store pdanet tablet & configured to pair with my phone.
And ... TAADAA!!! i had back my connection on the move.
I repeat, it's not a proper solution, but until someone more coding skilled than me get the patch done, this will work.

You need to download the AOSP sources for ICS and set up a compile environment and then patch up the wpa_supplicant sources as per my previous post and then recompile and provide a CWM flashable zip.

I'll try to download it and extract the wpa supplicant. Maybe this time i'll be luckyer. And obviously, if this will work i'll share here.
Cross your fingers, please.
SAD UPDATE: I tried to use the wpa_supplicant e wpa_conf files on task650's ics rom but unfortunately the tablet has working wifi but doesn't recognize my wifi tethering from the phone. So for who as me don't want to use non stock rom (mostly for stability reason at the moment) can't have wifi thetering recognized.
I'm starting to suppose that on ics things are quite different from honeycomb on this topic. Maybe Someone whit good coding skill should try to help us.
And at the moment my workaround it's the only solution avaiable.
Thank you very much Chinasky71

You can still use your phone!
Nokia phones have dun connection via bluetooth, so pair your phone with your galaxy tab and start pdanet.
From there use the configure button, and select your phone after that is appered in your list.
At that point you'd be ready to go!
Let me know if it works.

[Q] Help Please- 70b Internet Tablet-What SDE or ROM to use

Hello Everyone,
I am not new to flashing.
I have an Archos 70b IT.
I have the newest Honeycomb firmware on it.
The SDE from Archos for Gen8 or Gen9 does not work.
I keep getting Update Failed 1 error.
So if someone has this tablet, how did you update it to ICS???
How do I root this thing?
The Specs for the 70b vs. the 70
http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/archos-70b-it-review-part-1-introduction/
***funny note- Archos has this tablet listed under Gen9 in the firmware downloads section. I spoke to their Tech Support and they said it is a Gen8 device. They said there is a JB unit called the 70 Titanium that will be released soon.
Can someone help me here please.
I can't get ADB to work.
Can you tell me what you did or send me the files you are using for ADB?
I would like to root this unit or better put ICS on it.

You can have root only on your tab.

This Archos section is the least helpful section of XDA that I have encountered thus far. This does not HELP promote getting more people to use or support these devices.
You should do yourself a favor and see how the Samsung community helps each other e.g. this section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41185753#post41185753

I will not share you a file that you can make by a simple command.
For Linux users only: You need to add a udev rule if ADB only works as root:
Create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules that contains the following lines:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device",
ENV{PRODUCT}=="e79/*", MODE="0666"
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="e79", MODE="0666"
Make the rule known to udev with the following command:
udevadm control --reload-rules (or udevcontrol reload_rules on older systems)
