Ok so I have been reading the forums for the past couple of weeks and have seen al of the bugs with gps(that i could care less about)and then I came across a wifi and Bluetooth bug. Where wifi drops to unusable levels when Bluetooth is in use. So my real question is is this a hardware or software problem and will it be usable to play online with a Bluetooth controller.
Thanks for your help.

more so software issue. once Asus is really aware they can always change values or output strength of BT to where not interfering. there are people who using controller for onlive online play n have no issue. check out the game controllers thread in accessories section.
Its both a software and hardware issue, mostly coming from the wonderful metal casing...
If your looking to stream onlive and use a bluetooth controller, you will likely get a degraded stream of said game. But it should still work, just perhaps not as good quality (picture wise because of the wifi signal getting jumbled and the bluetooth controller may not be as responsive).

I bought my TFP with one major goal in mind, to be able to watch NetFlix/DLNA Videos with a pair of BT headphones on. Lucky me, I'm having the wonderful WiFi/BT fallout issues.
I don't want to send it in for RMA and wait weeks/months to get another one back which may do the same thing.
So, my question is, are there any custom ROMs which do NOT experience the WiFi/BT fallout issues? I'm no noob, I have no issue unlocking and installing a custom ROM, but ONLY if it will fix this issue (otherwise I may have to go the RMA route).
I don't really buy that it's a hardware issue. There are dozens of other tablets with combo WiFi/BT chips that can handle the two streams simultaneously just fine; my previous GTab 8.9 being a perfect example.
It appears I my have jumped the gun a little. I believe I did confirm my suspicions that my fallout issue is in fact ROM based and not hardware based. I un-paired my bluetooth headphones and rebooted and now all wireless (WiFi, BT & GPS) are all working fine. I guess the question still remains though, is anyone aware of a ROM which won't suffer from this hiccup if the hardware is good?

Hello people,
This is not the normal complaint thread about WiFi and Bluetooth issues, so please don't flame without reading.
I have managed to reproduce and NOT reproduce the WiFi speed issues when streaming data or audio thru Bluetooth, and I have found a pattern.
I'm almost sure it is a Software issue. With the Prime running WiFi and Bluetooth over the same chip/antenna it is normal to have a speed drop when using both, but not to bring WiFi speed to a crawl (300kbps tops).
So, what I'm asking for is information about the Bluetooth device you are using, if you can give me brand and specific model better, the more information I have about the device the merrier
Second, I need information about your Wifi speed with stream and without stream or at leleast if you have major speed drops or your if Prime works well.
Ill be going this weekend to Saturn or something to try top-notch super expensive Bluetooth devices and see the results.
What is the pattern you found? It might explain why some people bt/wifi works fine and others dont.

Something about the Bluetooth profile being used by the tablet when connecting to devices.
I posted some videos about my prime being able to stream HD video while listening to it through Bluetooth. And some speed tests while using my AKG 830BT headphones.
What was my surprise when using the cheaper Motorola DC800 Bluetooth receiver or headphones? The issue everyone was complaining about here, WiFi speeds of 150K... which of course is useless for anything but chatting.
Doing some research I've found out that those motorola devices use older BT versions (2.0) and one of them does not have HQ A2DP audio.
Long story made short, after testing a few of the BTdevices I own, I found out some of them cause issues while others not.
That's why I'm asking now here, users with and without issues to post their BT Device Models/Brand so I can search which BTprofiles are being used and if some of them are causing issues.

This makes sense though since it most likely is a hardware issue. A2DP is high bandwidth. The identified cause of our woes is the fact that wifi and bluetooth are on a single module. So when A2DP is being used, most of the modules time is used on bluetooth and less on wifi, thus slowing down speeds. The solution from ASUS was using RMAs to add another module so that one is dedicated to wifi and the other to bluetooth.
I could be wrong though.

It would make sense, if it wasn't backwards!
The High Quality A2DP Profile audio is the one NOT killing my WiFi speeds. Every time my Prime connects to an older device using one of the other profiles the WiFi speeds go to hell.
Both WiFi/Bluetooth being in the same Module can cause speed drops, but not completely kill WiFi Speeds.
These are my speeds when using the AKGs Headphones:
No BT stream: 24.91 Mbps.
BT Audio streaming: 18.13 Mbps.
(video and stuff here)
That speed difference IS the one caused by both running on the same chip.
Same tablet, same router, but I change the headphones and the speed wont go past 150kbps. Doesnt matter if the prime is sitting on the router.
Anyways, I'm asking the people who was complaining about the speed (and those whose Primes do work)to feed some info, it is not like I'm gonna waste others time Ill do the research and tests. Just need a bigger data pool.
Go for it. Good luck
Sony DR-BT101 (headset, not an ear piece)
I was told by Asus they have a "fix" with new hardware if I wanted to RMA my device. I just don't know how effective the "fix" is.

How bad is your WiFi loss, partial loss (normal from using WiFi/BT on same chip) or total, like going down to 150K~?
I have never measured as I just don't use the combo anymore. I know it happens, got frustrated, and use my wired ear buds after the first few weeks of owning the tablet. It does have the signal degrade though. The headset is about 2yrs old.
I can test it out when I get home. The work wifi is limited to 750kb download speeds per user.
I have a Netgear WNDR3700V1 with fibre 35/35mbit
Using the Plantronics BT300 headset the wifi drop to under 1 mbit or almost zero, YouTube buffers.
Without BT I have full speed above 30mbit at least.
The only way to "avoid buffering and dropouts" is to use a WN3000 Netgear Extender in same room where the Prime is.
This way I manage to listen to Youtube without drops.
So if the signal is still stron the loss is "not bad", but how many do have 35mbit up and down with fibre.
Those with low speed, will still have drops.
Hi
Just got my 16GB WiFi Tablet Z running 4.1.2 (build 10.1.C.0.370) a few days ago and I've noticed that while I have my Bluetooth headphones connected (to avoid using those pesky port covers ) the WiFi performance of the tablet becomes very poor and erratic. The tablet doesn't disconnect from any networks, it maintains a connection and the signal strength shows no change but pages become very slow to load (if they load at all) and YouTube videos will not buffer properly. It will then work fine for a few minutes but then have issues and become unusable afterwards.
I've had this issue every WiFi network I've tried. 2 in the house (2.4Ghz) and a 5GHz one along with the mobile hotspot on my phone.
I've never had this issue on any other device I've had (OG Nexus 7, HTC One, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy Note, ASUS Transformer TF100) so
I'm wondering if this is a software issue that may be fixed with the upcoming 4.2 update or a custom ROM or is it still there on other ROMs and it is a hardware issue?
Thanks

First Time i connect with Bluetooth (Keyboard) the Wifi connect was lost...i had to restart the Tablet.. I hope it is only a Software Problem
This is a known issue for this specific tablet. It's on the Sony mobile discussion forums for tab z. Bluetooth and wifi work fine separately it's just when they are on together that issues appear. For me, wifi didn't stop working all together, it just took far too long to even load the most basic of websites. No response from one just yet.

UPDATE: Just updated to 4.2.2 and from what I have experienced, it seems as if they have fixed the issue. I can use my Bluetooth headphones and listen to music without any Wifi problems
Could anyone else confirm this?

I am still facing this issue.
Hello people, I'm glad to join this forum!
I caught my Thor right in time before the latest update and successfully towelrooted. Many thanks to the local geniuses!
Everything works peachy after the root, google play, etc.
The only issue I encountered after rooting is that a couple of apps stopped working - Yandex Disk and Apps&Game (for 4pda forums). Deleting cache didn't help, had to remove both. I haven't tried to reinstall the yet.
And as for the title issue. If I use the bluetooth headset with hdx it works great, until the screen times out or turned off. Then the audio starts skipping randomly, through any app.
Also I tried using a BT mouse with the device, but it's pretty much useless for browsing - it starts to interfere with wifi, pages won't load, or load very slowly.
Just thought to ask if it's just my device or such BT issues are "normal" for HDX.
Thanks!

I have had the same issue too. Both on stock rom and Cpasjuste/ggow's rom on Apollo. So no, this isn't just you.
I have tons of tablets and on each one certain Bluetooth devices will slow or even outright break wifi. It's the most annoying thing. At any rate the only solution I know of is to have 2 routers, one a 2.4 ghz b, g, n for the whole house to use and one 5 ghz router placed near where you primarily use your devices while on bluetooth. Bluetooth devices interfere with wifi on 2.4 ghz and 20/40 mhz frequencies so a 5 ghz router will still run your device and Bluetooth will work well. Yea it blows. One thing that REALLY makes this worse in tablets and laptops is when the manufacturer puts the radios on the same chip, or even real close together. Totally blows up the functionality of the device, and it happens way you more than it should. Cheap manufacturers make mistakes.
My phone is usually connected to wifi ac and i curently have no issues with it. (two or more past vendor versions had serious problems as well).
Long story short, I thought that newly buried ethernet wire was defected but it turned out that my Spotify (and all other listenting apps) will plummet the download speed over wifi n when using bt audio. Curiously, only download seems to be affected.
Tried some recent vendors, and the last two stabl miui roms and no fix.
I distinctly remember, two months ago when I had no signal in a foreign village because a broken beta rom/vendor. It didn't grab reception when it should have been back...
So...what vendor to try? Preferably, one that works with latest pixel experience rom and has l1 certificatio. (Because who knows hat happens then...my GPS won't work because reasons unknown).
I had some similar BT/wifi related drama once. Turned out my BT mouse and wifi router were fighting each other over the 2.4ghz radio band. Mouse was choppy, wifi was unstable. You know what to do
