I am really confused.Am on baseband 2.1.54 with WB-XPERIA TW 009 and i wanna upgrade to Wolfs TW Gingerbread.But i am taking maximum precuations as i bricked a friends phone trying to do it.First time i am bricking a phone.So i wanna be careful this time

Well if you have confirmed if your phone has the requirements for bootloader unlocking (please check it for confirmation as you don't want your phone to be bricked), then you're good to go. use the first link, because it's very very VERY easy compared to the second one. ^^
One thing though.. some users have tried to unlock their bootloader and have been successful, but their radio signals becomes dropped and unavailable.. i don't know what happened to them but the only way to restore the radio signal is to re-unlock their sims. But I don't think that will happen to you as you take very extreme precautions. good luck!

4.i DONT have to flash the ftf bundle tht wolf provided because i would be on the 2.3 kernel coz i did official update.

after setp 1 and b4 step 2 u need to "root" your phone. use doomlord's zergrush method, or azuzu downgrade+upgrade method.
secondly, flash doomlord v6 kernel "BEFORE" flashing wolf's rom. (it's better that way)
lastly. use "full-oc" kernel first. it you get booting problems then try "semi-oc"
is it ok if i go for semi oc coz my i want my battery to last long ?
I use his failsafe kernel and earlier 6AM i charged my battery full, now at 4:30PM i got 84%. so 16% of battery were used at 10 hours. how's that?

it depends largely on usage and type of ROM you are using.

well then i shld have met u long bak coz he gave the phone back and got N900 instead.But i tried a lot to unbrick it.Asked a lot of people here in xda but was no use.Anyways thanks.Maybe when i brick another x10 (and hopefully not mine )

thats good.I had a lot of problem with my battery but then i stated usng setcpu and set it to powersave mode and have been getting very good battery backup but sacrificing little performance.But then i dont play games or anything.SO its ok

Every time I flash the cell just powers on then nothing, Ive left it for upwards of 2hrs with nothing. When I update to 2.3 it hangs in a boot loop at the SE logo.
as chris sed, flash tool should work in all circumstances. jus a few questions, when u used flashtool did it succesfully flash with no errors, did u make sure u had enuff battery to flash (50% is recommended). if u had no errors with flashtool and u had enuff battery than i cant see y not it hasnt worked.

No errors and full battery each time. I have no idea why I cant update and its a real pain in the ass.
have u always had this problem or has it jus started to occur recently?
onli other thing i can can suggest is use another computer to flash n see if it works or not

If any one can recomend a 2.3 rom for flashtools please do so.
My baseband is 1.0.14 and build is R1FA014
So when I flash a rom that works ie 1.6 it shows TA valeus in the flash tools log, but when I flash a rom that wont boot up there are no TA values. Any one have any advice?
Also Ive downloaded 3 different branded 2.1 roms and they all work but.... when my cell boots up and I go into settings and about.. it still says 1.6 ??? WTF!!!

I have to say that is pretty weird and i have never in my life come across it, ok give this a go. Flash a 2.1 Rom make sure that the particular rom can be upgraded to 2.3.3 thru seus or pc companion, id give u a link buh where i usually wud get that from is arkedk post in android development and theyve been deleted. so flash the 2.1 rom, then upgrade to official 2.3.3 using seus or pc companion. see how it goes, dnt know wot else to recommend really.
tried that, and even updated from 1.6 to 2.1 via pc companion and still nothing.

something somewhere in the process of wot u have been doing has gone wrong or there is a hard fault somewhere. sorry to hear uve had such a bad xperince with this phone, if uve got warranty send it off, thats all i can think of, or sell it on ebay. sorry i cudnt help u further, best of luck mate.

Yup and yup, its the strangest thing ever. Can any one point me to a official eu 2.1 or 2.3 rom and not ftf file?
Unfortunately all official SE 2.3.3 fitmwares are in ftf format,if u want to flash a 2.3.3 rom via xrecovery than u need 71 baseband. Go to android development, I recommend erickwills or wolfbreaks rom,its upto u which u choose,hope u find a solution

Unlock bootloader and flash "rootxperia zip" via recovery. Its fastest way.

I followed that and got "cannot download boot.img,device needs to be rooted first". Well,if I was rooted i wouldn't be doing that in the first place!?
You're doing something wrong then
You have unlocked BL?
Unlocking the boot loader is the way forward.

Thanks for the replays,that was the problem. I thought it was unlocked,but actually wasn't. However I rooted,then installed CM 7 beta-nice,but still not ready for primetime. Now the question is what to do to return to stock rom-just flash it via flashtool? And will the root remain?
Clear/Reset Everything and then go through the procedure again (without re-unlocking BL obviously).
Follow the steps this time...

Flash doomlord v8 kernel via fastboot and you can overclock 1,9ghz. Your bootloader must be relocked!!

Are there still bugs with the doomlord kernel? I need WiFi absolutely, don't have a data plan...
The DoomKernel is to be avoided for now,as the Wifi and vibration are not working,tried it yesterday. I can live without the vibra,but Wifi is a must.

If you are 2.3.4 then YES. theres is a wifi etc bugs.
If you are 2.3.3 all OK.
AND if you already 2.3.4 then dont flash kernel because kernel dont work well...

Open flashtool, click on the flash icon , choose flashmode, select firmware & flash
Post number 2 is the correct device, apart from you will also need to
0. Make sure unknown sources and usb debugging are allowed in
/settings/applications
and
/settings/application/development
1. click on the padlock icon to root.
2. click on the key icon to ask root permissions, allow permissions on the phone.
3. then flash the rom.

What do you mean by "proper way"? Is it an official way to do it? No. Flashtool method is essentially another pc companion. It does everything pc companion can do and more. The only reason you have/need pc companion is to recognize the phone. That is it. The only problem you will have is a chronic headache from all the lag the stock 2.3.3 FW gives. Remedy that by rooting and installing a custom/complete ROM.
Rooting the X10 device is not necessary, but I highly recommend you do buddy. The X10 stock and when stands alone is a terrible device. but when rooted and applied with a custom ROM, the X10 lives up to many other devices that shouldn't be compared to. Technically, Rooting is not an upgrade. But if we look at the benefits of rooting, well thats a completely different story.

I had the same problem as you recently.
Lost xrecovery, phone not booting, flashtool not seeing phone...
The only thing that fixed it was the flasher at wotanserver.com - someone mentioned it in a post here on XDA.

Its free but you have to sign up...but it is well worth the 2 minutes.
Its all automatic, select your phone and thats it.
It flashes back to GB2.3.
Then you can use flashtool to go where you want from there.

If you say youve tried all possible methods-then the phones knackered.If it was me I would have
Try a different battery
Hardwire a battery
Try using a different pc
Try every version of flashtool
Try x10 flasher
Leave battery out for a while
Then after trying several times some of the above,and still nothing,It would go for repair or on eBay

If you're on locked BL then it's not bricked
Just use SEUS or Flashtool (with a 2.3.3 FTF) to go back to stock 2.3.3.

Though not sure what you meant by "flashing official ics". If you meant with flashtool, then answer is still no.
If you meant on using PCC or SEUS then answer depends how you unlock your BL. IF you unlock it unofficial way, with s1tool, then you won't have any problem. If you unlock it via IMEI code from Sony developer page, then you won't be able to use PCC or SEUS until you relock your BL(which is done by flashing 1 ftf file).
And for both official and unofficial way worth rule, do not use OTA updates. For official way, that's 100% correct, while for unofficial way, some report problems, some don't have them.

doing this wont relock my bl.. ??

You mean 2 -ve battery pins? Yeah, only connect to 1, it's enough. Or you can also connect it to simcard holder, as I read, people also do that. Point is to ground it, whatever method you want

I don't like OTA, and after you unlock your BL it will be smart not to use it, as we told above.
And if you unlock your BL it's much easier to root it, as I wrote, check that thread I linked in this post and try.

You mean 2 -ve battery pins? Yeah, only connect to 1, it's enough. Or you can also connect it to simcard holder, as I read, people also do that. Point is to ground it, whatever method you want
