ICS messaging APP available on the market.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mms.ics.ext
yea i saw this few days ago, but changed my mind when i read it's got ads on the inbox. Lets hope the ICS music player don't have ads, its going to be released soon on the android market
Edit: Found One on some random site. its ok, Doesn't have a widget, no equalizer too. samsung stock player FTW
I don't see any ads in the inbox. I think it looks prettier than the CM7 messenger, however it is also slower.
Maybe it gets better with the next updates. So I deleted it again, for now.
its kinda laggy when you have more messages in your inbox...and also the go sms pro ics theme is better than this one..
This one? Too bad it's a paid app.
sms sending ok but not recieving

So far I've tried
Twicca
Twidroyd
Twitter (official)
I'm currently using Twicca but I'm not sure if I'm completely in love with it yet, nor any of the other two. I feel like I was spoiled by Echofon on the iPhone.
My favorites are Seesmic and Tweetcaster. I'm currently liking TweetCaster a little bit better.
I use Touiteur. I have tried the official twitter app and twitdroid but like Touiteur best.
Tuiteur, hands down... Amazing developer, tons of options, nice ui, preview of pics, all the services you expect, long press on a tweet to open links... On and on...
Only con is the name (french developer)... I always butcher the spelling.
I'm a bit of a twitter newbie, but I prefer the official one.

Typos, incorrect words, gibberish, and other nonsense brought to you courtesy of Swype.
I like Tweetdeck, even in its beta form.
I just tweet, RT and send direct messages..got that i use an old app called "Twidgit"
it runs only as a widget, its free but its not on the market anymore.
if you need something light on the resources, you should try that.
TweetDeck takes all even in beta form hands down!
+1 For Tweetdeck, great app. The UI is plain and kinda fugly and I'm hoping for a widget but it works the best out of any app I've used.
Touiteur for me..has the best widget

It was Touiteur for me, but I'm a fan of Tweetdeck on my PC and it looks like they are gonna take my Android slot as well.

here's another vote for Touiteur
I'm about 50/50 on the Tweetdeck beta and Touiteur. Used Touiteur for 6-8 months, best of all I tried - when the Tweetdeck beta came out I started using that for a bit, but at the moment I'm back to Touiteur.
I like Tweetcaster a lot, and didn't like the official Twitter app, Twydroid, or Tweetdeck.
Here's my dilemma.
Between 8 and 5pm, I don't get a signal while at work so I don't check twitter. so I check it in the morning, and then after work, usually 9-10 hours between checking. On my old iPhone, I used an app called Tweetie and I loved it. It would remember my last read tweet in my timeline, and would load all new tweets on top of it, so I could simply scroll UP from my last read tweet and see all the subsequent new ones, in a nice neat sequential order from oldest to newest as I scrolled from bottom to top.
What I hate about all the other twitter apps I've used on Android so far is that I can't find one that works in the same manner as Tweetie. With Tweetcaster, given how long I go without checking tweets I have to "Load More" at least twice, and then it auto-scrolls to the very top and shows the newest tweet. I then have to scroll down to the last tweet I read, find the correct spot, and then work my way up. I find it annoying.
Tweetdeck Beta had an option called "Remember my place in Timeline" or something like that, but it never worked.
HELP ME

Touiteur was lagging and force closing like crazy for me so I switched to seesmic. I'm pleased so far.

Touiteur all the way for me!
Tweetcaster hands down
I was using touiteur but now I'm using tweetdeck.
Tweetdeck is how every Champion should tweet
Hey guys, since I got my nook, I've noticed that in the Facebook app and in the browser, the user experience isn't that good. The app has too many bugs, and its very hard to chat in the browser. So I was wondering, is there a better Facebook app that I can use, that includes chat? I'm running a recent CM7 nightly.
Thanks!
The browser for FB blows, the Android market FB book works great. But since the FB app is open source many have modified it and improved it. I like "Black Facebook " it's cool with transparency, with a dark and has added screen transition animations. Do a search and you'll find a thread here at XDA for it.
Good luck.
The thing is, there are so many bugs with the market app (missed notifications, messages, chat is buggy, etc). Those would also be present with "black facebook" if it's based on the original, correct?
Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for something more tablet optimized and stable.

Friendcaster works great and its also optimised for tablets.
Hi, after using my HTC Hero since it was launched I finally recieved an SGSII at work.
I really love the phone, and have been able to tweak most things to my likings, but the iPhone-wannabe-ish SMS thread viewer is definately not to my taste. No big issue, ofcourse, but I'm still posting about it in case some of you skilled Android-hackers/users have an easy solution. On my Hero I really loved the look of the SMS app in FroydVillain (Froyo) and Decked (GB). I'm honestly not sure, but I think they both ran stock unthemed SMS apps. Black baground, white text, clean interface without those silly bubbles. I've been trying to do a Google image search but haven't found out how the stock SMS app really looks in ICS so I don't know if the cartoonish iPhone-bubbles are from TW or AOSP.
I dont want some bloated and ugly SMS apps like Handscent or Go SMS that I've heard cause problems like duplicate sms-es.
Also, since the phone is my eployer's I want to avoid flashing/rooting it, so simply installing mms.apk from a different ROM is not possible afaik.
So, any suggestions? I guess I'm sort of hoping someone already compiled a binary/apk based on mms.apk that can easily be installed and used as the default messaging app.
Kinda what the title is referring to. My phone (Xperia Play) came with pure Vanilla Gingerbread, which is really nice! I've used SO many messaging apps like GO, Chomp, Handcent, Pansi, etc. and I just decide to go back to the stock app every time I switch apps after a day or two. The reason why I switch is because of one thing, the threads take too long to load on the stock app. It's annoying, because if I want to start texting my gf, I have to wait literally 10 seconds just to open up a 1000 count thread. I don't like to delete my messages.
There's a port of the ICS messenger on the market but it has adverts in it for some reason, and what's funny is that it loads a thread that big pretty much instantly, and I mean the ENTIRE thing.
Looks like its time to start deleting messages in your inbox/outbox. Never really understood why ppl like to save text messages. Its like chatting in person and you both writing what each other says then filing it away. For what?

Haha I know, I guess it's an obsessive or hoarding kinda deal, I have thousands of total messages saved!
Thats awesome lol

I've had it, the adverts go away, but the white bar is still there. Which is really annoying, I'm using that ICS messaging app right now. If there's a way to either remove that bar, or at least shrink it, that would be fantastic! There shouldn't be an advert because it's a port of Google's software. The newest version has "Removed AD from Landscape mode" in the change log. If that could help.
I have an Xperia UL and for my usage i wasnt very satisfied with the stock battery/msgs/ apps and browser. Battery problem fixed completely ever since Ive got an extended one from mpj. For a messaging app, I think Viber is pretty good. I occationally use Yelp to find interesting stuff if I travel to a new country or city. And I prefer Firefox over any other browser on Android
Which are the stock apps you like?
for me..i use chomp sms, opera beta/uc browser, friendcaster and falconpro..though i do love dark themed apps whenever possible.. once i do find an app replacement for stock.i uninstalled those system apps
