This is not meant to be a thread about me asking whether I should return my phone. Has anyone else noticed that the top half of.the display is warmer (color temp-wise) than the bottom half? It's certainly not a major yellowing but on a white background it can be seen. Any thoughts?
Return it if it bothers you so much....j/k, can't see it on mine, could it be the light leakage from the leds for the red buttons?
Sounds defective to me.

No problems here. Screen is so much better than the AMOLED screens.
I'll post pics later so you can see exactly what I mean.

don't know. Yeah post a pic but pulling up my dialer, which has lots of white, the top and bottom look very purely white.
Just checked mine out. No problems here. May want to swap it.
Ugh. I haven't posted 8 times yet.
I appreciate all of the replies. What I'm talking about is pretty subtle, so I'll be curious to see your reactions to the pic.
I hate to do this, but I would like to post an image.
Here's a pic of my screen using "Screen Test".

You can see that it is warmer on the left (top half of screen)
Eh, mine does it a little but not enough to make a fuss about it, barely noticeable.
People are too picky about things. Nothing's going to be 100% perfect.
Not major but it is interesting to look at these manufacturing quirks. Having said that, Nexus has some "quirks" in its display that I found unacceptable. Yet most people don't even bay an eyelash.

Not seeing it. When you say top half of screen do you mean based on landscape or based on the phone's top? The color bar on the half with numbers 3 & 4 is more saturated.
I downloaded that app and mine looks just like yours. I don't see any problem except for that saturation but I don't notice that on anything else so I have to guess that's the way that image is already. I've looked at the white screen and the grey screen as well. Perhaps there's a very, very slight lightness at the very edges of the screen but nothing that looks really wrong.

I meant top half of the display if it was in portrate mode. That's a little confusing since my pic is in landscape. My sense of it is that the "1" and "3" side, or what would be the top of the screen, is warmer. If I'm looking at a page of text on a white background and I watch a spot as I scroll it up toward the top of the display it will get warmer the higher it moves.
Basically what I'm saying is that the bottom of my display has a higher color temperature than the top, and it sounds like that's pretty consistent with other Rezounds. Overall, I don't think there's a better display out there.
I just checked with Screen Test. I notice your key lights are on in your pic. I wonder if leak from the LEDs down there are making it a bit cooler. On mine, I can just maybe barely hallucinate the light leak on a black background it if I'm testing it in the dark but I still think it looks different than your pic.
Your screen is warmer from the top until about 1/6 of the way down where mine would be cooler from the bottom until maybe 1/10 of the way up. I don't know if there's any potential optical illusion going on but I would guess you have some backlight nonuniformity issue. Maybe try it in different kinds of ambient light and see if it looks anything like leakage from the bottom keys.

So, if I'm understanding you the two displays are similar in that they're warmer at the top and cooler at the bottom?
If my past experience with LCDS they seem to have had had less variation across the panel.

I think what s/he's saying is that the capacative button LEDs are on so they leak a bit of light onto the bottom of the screen. You can download Screen Filter and turn them off and see if you still feel the screen is cooler at the bottom. And yes, they felt their screen looked different than yours but that it could be an optical illusion?
Okay now I'm wondering if I'm seeing it on my screen as well so I took screenshots, rotated one of them and putting then up side by side to see if it could be an optical illusion based on there bring different shades of grey nearby.
Well they didn't come up side by side as another post of mine since they're bigger for some reason, but anyway, you can see the dark grey squares of both butted up against each other and they look the same. I agree the white circles around the numbers seem different but perhaps that's the image from the test and not the screen?

Compared to my old LG Optimus 2X, the screen is very dim, although very colorful. The whites are incredibly blue, as can be seen here:

The Optimus (to the left) is with automatic brightness enabled, and the SII (to the right, duh!) is with brightness set to max, manually.
The screen seems VERY blue compared to the Optimus.
Is this normal with the SII?

There's definitely color variations across different examples of the phones ranging from cool to warm. The warm seems to bug people more than the cool. In this long and painful thread you can see some pics of other phones side-by-side to see where yours falls.

Mine's on the cool side but I can't tell from the way you took the pic how different it is from yours. There's some pics of mine in the above thread.

It just bothers me that the Optimus 2x which havent been marketed on base of it's screen, beats the hell out of the GS2, in brightness and color trueness.

I had a G2X, the O2X's bastard relation. I liked the G2X display but thought the contrast was just OK and it didn't perform well in daylight. The SGS2 screen because of the black-blacks and exaggerated colors took some getting used to. After two months, I look at an LCD display now and go ewww. You'll probably feel the same way when you get over the shock. Watch a movie, that'll make you feel better

I appreciate your input, although the blue is so bad, it gives people in the vids a kind of smurf-ish look.
And besides that, the off-center viewing angle makes the blue tint even worse. The reviews praise the wide viewing-angle, which is as arrow as about 30-40 degress before the colors gets distorted.
ammm,,,i dont think that that much bluish tint is normal,,,,u sure u dint get a faulty handset??i mean yeah super amoled plus has a bit of a bluish tint,,,,but man! thats too much blue....(ps-i compared mine to some lcd screens so dont tell me to place it beside one)

The viewing angle issue can be seen here:

As you can see, you can't move the camera much before the colors go even more smurf.

yes,,Amoled technology alwayz had this issue,,,its very slight,,,u can not notice it that easily,,,but that much blue is not normal...
It actually seems as you'll have to look at the phone from a very straight angle, as only a few degrees will result in the blueish colors. And the weird part is - going a few degrees further will result in normal-ish colors (yet still very dim) - and afterwards turn into blueish again, "the rest of the way", if you catch my drift.
I'd go blue over yellow any day. But that's too blue and whoever you bought it from would have to be blind to not see it; return it. I hope you didn't buy it off eBay...

My SGSII is blue too. Is the voodoo app working for this phone?

Got my galaxy s2 couple of days ago from expansys, it has no blue tint or yellow left side, the only thing it has is on lowest brighness setting on grey background bottom right corner you can barely see some kind of ring like shadow . Good thing you can only see it under that situation only.
Feel bad for others with blue tint and yellow side , get replacement ?
My captivate(SGS 1) and SGS2 both have same even whites.
Hard to see even harder to photograph shadow ring.
The ring thing is called the "coin syndrome".
The service center wouldn't acknowledge the blueishness as a defect, even though my phone compared to a demo GSII was an electronic smurf.
The blue tint is probably from the Gorilla Glass coating.

It's only noticeable on black or really dark backgrounds but does everyone else's home button bleed a bit of light into the screen or just mine? I'll see if I can snap a pic tomorrow.
Yupp... Once an led brightness mod is created it should be better.
Yeah noticed this from day one. Mine is not just on the really dark screens either but I think every phone I've ever had has had something like this in one way or another....no biggie.

I noticed earlier today that I have this as well in pretty much the same exact spot. It starts from the home key and goes on towards about an inch or so, inward toward the screen.
Do you guys know if this justifies an exchange from BestBuy? I'm just concerned that it may get worse because that's how these things tend to play out over time.
Mine is only really noticeable with a dark screen in a dark room.
I had the same problem when I first booted up my phone but now it has disappeared and hasn't come back .

Mine was ordered via TeleSales. Should I call them and report this for a replacement, or take to a store and get a replacement there? Will the store replace it if I got it online?
If you have light bleed issues, you should get a replacement. Mine is perfect - zero light bleed. First HTC device I've owned that didn't have at least a little.

you can also download an app from the market that test your screen for dead pixels and it helps find light-bleed as well. I believe it's called Screen test, just type that in the play store and you'll find it.

You have 30 days to do whatever you want with it.
I had light bleed on my first EVO LTE. The light bleed is most apparent when the button lights are on, the screen backlight is at its dimmest setting, and the screen is black. A great way to test is to install the flash-the-brain.com FlashLight app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.flashLight) and swipe down to set it to the dimmest setting. A picture of my first phone and the replacement are below (this was a long exposure in a completely dark room, so it didn't look quite so bad in real life):
I have it also, i didn't always notice it but definitely there at times... must be when the lights are on the buttons like ahecht pointed out
i dont know if it gets worse though, should i exchange?
yeah mine has a light bleed on all black screens as well
mine has light bleeding as well.. i noticed it during a game boot up today.. isn't our 30 days getting close? hmm what to do ...
I just got a l800 2 days ago. Im sure the topic has been talked about and I have been all over the web and Nokia care. I can't seem to fid a strait answer.
I have a very faint pink hue that starts on the left and fades as it goes to the right side of my screen. I have a 1 pixel wide pink strip on the far left of my screen. I know this is normal with pentile displays. Is that what is causing the pink hue? It's not super pink, but enough to make it annoying when seeing a white back ground. IE email or browsing the web. It is more noticeable web it it set to autobright. If I set it to medium or high brightness it's much much better.
I know it's dumb to worry about but I just want to know either and hopefully ease my mind. Colors otherwise look awesome. I just can't stand the pink. I know it can't properly show white but the uneven pink to white is what is bothering me.
It's my 1st lumia product with this type of screen.
Thanks everyone in advance! I hope to be a full contributing member to this board going further.

I've never ever noticed that before, but now that you've said it.. There actually is a pink strip on the left side, but it definitley is not pixel-wide, i'm pretty sure it is ony sub-pixel wide. And the right edge is blue or green - can't really tell, as it's only sub-pixel wide. Looks like a pretty normal side effect of the pentile screen matrix not being a proper rgb matrix. Anywho, none of my Lumias has a pink hue (the white is kinda grainy, but surely not pink) so it looks like you've been sold a broken one.
I did my best to capture some photos that show it best. you can see its really really feint. Its hard for the camera to not add or remove any pink / white colors. Maybe that pink line on the left is throwing me off. But I think it spreads some. perhaps im crazy. Do you have any history mailing in to Nokia Care?

Have you actually compared yours with another one? Cause I was pretty sure this moring that mine doesn't have the pink tint. Untill I came to work and compared my phone with a friend. The difference is humongous, his Lumia 800 displays white and grey colors in Outlook, while mine displays pinkish-white and pinkish-grey. I cannot unsee it
Now I wonder if it's wear&tear, since mine is used a lot more for hours of gaming, or if it has been broken all along.
Edit: I managed to capture a photo in which the difference is clear as day:
It is kinda exaggerated by the angle and lighting, but that's the feeling you get when comparing those two side by side.
(the left one is Black and right one is Cyan, by the way)
It is imposibble to bing or google anything on the matter, would be nice if other pink-tinted Lumia owners revealed themselves.
I had issue on my first Lumia 800 with pink gradient from the left side of the screen and stretched well into the middle of the screen. Most noticeable on the keyboard for me. I got mine replaced where I bought it without hazzle.
I have a Nokia N9 now (which has the exact same display as Lumia 800 only 0,2" bigger). It is the exact same phone with different systems in it and some other hardware components. Though my N9 screen is very very good when it comes to uniformity. My former Lumia 800 was pretty much this good to as far as I remember.
I gave the phone to Nokia Care for repaires. They returned it after a week saying everything's fine with it.
Seems their quality policy on the colours is a little loose.
They did however replace the fatigued usb door, although I didn't request it, and didn't charge me for it
Im about to buy a V10 but I has heard about bleeding light on the left edge/corner of the 2nd screen. Is it happen on all the v10 or just some and I can exchange for a new one if it happen to me?
It's all of them...is only noticeable really when the screen is off in a dark room....not a deal breaker for me...this phone is awesome!
Well, its an issue on all v10s, and personally I don't mind it. It winds up looking like a gradient from the top right corner that occupies roughly 5-10% of the main screen, with no line or anything between the first screen and the second screen. I would take a pic for you, but I don't have a camera that can pick it up. What you could do is go into a store and cover the phone with like a jacket or something and look under there while its off to see if you have an issue with it.

As the others have said, it's definitely there. It all boils down to personal preferences - it's definitely there on mine and it can be a little annoying at times but I love the phone enough to overlook it. Just basically becomes what you're willing to look the other way on.
Mine has the light bleed ... but it's only noticeable in a dark room when the screen goes dark - then for the next 30 seconds the second screen stays lit and you see the light bleed. Once the 30 seconds passes, the second screen dims and the light bleed is nearly impossible to see.
3 of my associates have this phone and 2 of them do not have any light bleed at all. It doesn't seem to matter if it's an AT&T or Verizon version - some have no bleed, some do.
It shouldn't bother you. Then again, if you're anything like one of my OCD associates, it might make you insane, as he returned 2 of them till he got one that didn't have any bleed.
Mine has it too. I don't think it's a deal-breaker but you will notice it in a completely dark room.
Here's a photo showing it.

This was taken in a completely dark room with a 10 second exposure, at pretty much the worst angle for seeing the bleed.
I can see it on mine in a dark room only. Doesn't bother me one bit
I've gone through 3 devices. The first two were both from an 11/15 batch of phones, and had very noticeable light bleed, with one even having some on the upper left of the main screen as well. On these phones, you could notice it even with lights on as the icon on the left of the second screen was noticeably brighter/more vivid than the rest of the icons, which looked pale and washed out. The third phone is from a 12/15 batch, and is much better. It shows a slight bit of bleed like the picture in the post above, but none on the main screen. The light bleed it does have is really only able to be seen at night in a dark room. Otherwise you can't tell at all and that screen's blacks are just as inky black as the rest of the screen.
LoL. yea i noticed it too. reminds me of my very old CASIO watches when u press the light button to see the digital screen at night. However, not a deal breaker at all. i barely notice it every now and then

The light bleed it does have is really only able to be seen at night in a dark room. Otherwise you can't tell at all and that screen's blacks are just as inky black as the rest of the screen.

how do you know the batch of the phone?
i also notice the light when i looking direct/normal at the screen should I get replacement? i just got it today kind of sad i talk to LG about it they say should I get new phone at the store apparently is a known issue for them
Mine has it also but it is visible only in completely dark room with main screen off and second screen is bright. If both screens are on or second screen is dim (i use auto brightness so this is the case most of the time) it is not visible. It does not annoy me at all. Now i use nillkin leather quick cover case so it is not visible at all because main screen turns on automatically by opening the cover.
Hello all,
Last night I watched a show on my tablet in total darkness and noticed some weird banding which I thought was caused by the video itself but then I checked with the other apps and it was clear that it wasn't the video but the screen itself. Is my tab screen faulty? It's just over 3 weeks old for God's sake! Is anyone else experiencing the same issue or am I the only one?
Taken using night mode so as to highlighted the areas

those look like window reflections. Make a drawing, fill the entire screen with solid black, do you still see the banding? Do you have blue light filter on? If you still see it and you don't have any filters and you're sure it's not reflections, return it.
At low Brightness with night mode on mine is a bit patchy but yours seems worse. If it bothers you I would exchange and see if you get better luck next time
mine is solid black no pathing
That looks faulty

Hi guys. Thanks for your comments. I tried disabling the blue light filter. Also, it was pitch black in the room with no reflection anywhere.
Spoke with Samsung and it's going to be replaced.

Lowest brightness with blue light filter on ?
Can't help you as far as the screen is concerned, but nice choice about watching Succession, season 2 has been great.

Lowest brightness yes. Blue light no. I never use that. I surely would never use with video
I watch on mine in dark, complete black the screen is, no bleed etc.
Return it.
Hmmm I'm noticing similar to mine now even without blue light filter and normal brightness
Hey guys. Just an update. It's a bit of a long story but the tl;dr version is that I have got a new Tab S6 today and guess what? The same screen-bleed issue but on a different part of the screen.

I phoned the Samsung shop team and they were extremely helpful and arranged a replacement. However, I am very disappointed with the quality control. Does anyone know how I can raise this with Samsung so that something would be done at a higher level i.e. maybe there is a faulty batch or something?
Is that right from a factory reset without installing or restoring any apps? I have to wonder at this point if it's some software, These are amoled screens, there shouldn't be any bleed, there's no backlight. While some pixels can definitely fail what you're seeing on 2 tablets seems highly unlikely not random across the screen. Only other thing I can think of is you have something putting undue pressure on parts of the screen.

No. The pictures above are of the replacement tablet. I hadn't had the chance to transfer my settings or anything so it's factory formatted. All I did was turn on night mode at night and start the dialer app as well as other Samsung apps. Even the keyboard is brighter on one side than the other. I asked the other half to look and point out anything odd and she spotted it straightaway.
The tablet was literally out of the box. Barely stayed out of the box for an hour and there was nothing else pressed against it at all.

It's not bleed it's just uneven tints on the screen, very common and annoying as heck.
wow I've never seen anything like that on an oled or amoled screen. I have the S2,S3, S4, note 8, note 10+ and LG Oled and never seen anything even close.
What you have with the white, doesn't surprise me as much as the black as with black the pixels should be OFF.
The mate 20 pro was plagued with green screens like that. I believe they were lg oleds

By the way it's not pure black backgrounds, more dark greys, mine is similar and I believe they will all have it to some degree, seems to be a short coming with oled..it's only noticeable when displaying certain types of greys, at very low brightness, even worse with blue light filter on
Somewhat similar to what I'm experiencing, uneven black levels from corner to corner.
I'll try and get a replacement from the retailer, they give 30 days to return items so it shouldn't be an issue hopefully.
It's not awful, but once you notice it, you always notice it.
I have also the same, verry annoying. And for that price i espect something that works.
