Hey, new member here.
I recently aquired a HTC Aria, this is my first Android phone and It's great, only issue I found is with the camera, when I try to take pictures, the screen appears with a lot of noise color (pink areas), as per the pictures, is this related to the set up or is it a camera malfunction? The pictures taken have the same effect.
The pictures were taken a month ago- righ now the screen looks completely pink!
I'm using HTC Aria/ Android version 2.3.7/ Cyanogenmod-7.1.0.
I noticed this malfunction after downloading the Camera 360 app, tried to use it and suddenly this issue appeared.
Any support is appreciated.
Regards and thanks.
First I'd just try clearing application data for the "Camera" app to see if that makes any difference. If not, I'm not sure what else to try except doing a 100% clean install to see if the problem is with your current installation or actually a hardware issue. (Make a backup first so you can revert.)

Since I updated OTA to 2.3.6 build 4.5.141, I have been experiencing a problem with the camera as it shows a black screen (both still and video) and crashes after that.
I am willing to root the phone and install flash a ROM if that could be helpful. I tried a factory reset, SD format/unmount, battery pull, reboot, and everything possible with an unrooted device.
Warranty period is over so I can't ask for a replacement.
Any help is appreciated.
Camera
I had similar problems with upgrading to ICS Roms.
I fixed the problems with installation of Videocam Illusion and ProCapture or FastBurst Camera. I don't know if it is suitable for your Rom.
The only problem I see now with these apps is that I can't open, let say, ProCapture or FastBurst and after any camera or camcorder apps. The only to get these apps to work is to reboot.
Not working
Thanks for your feedback.
But I tried installing all those apps but they all give the same problem (black screen, which later freezes). I tried changing the resolution of the camera and then the camera app did not open at all saying: camera unable to initialize.
Occasionally, it shows a large camera icon in front of the screen and then it just closes down saying 'Activity Camera (in application Camera) not responding.
I do still think it is a software (not a hardware) problem because the phone has not been exposed to any physical damage whatsoever and everything else works smoothly on it.
I am already considering getting a replacement camera but thought I'd exhaust all other options before doing so as it does take a while to get a replacement. Luckily, it is under warranty.
Thanks again.
Id you're looking for a good stock based rom id try nottachrix. I've been on it roughly 2 months no issues

I'm running the table version of CM10 and I have been for a while now without many problems. I rarely take any pictures but I needed to take one the other day and I ran into a problem. When I hit the camera button my screen went black and froze. The only way to do anything was to hold the power down and wait for a reboot. Next I tried to access the camera by selecting the application, same thing happened. Next I tried wiping the camera application data, which are somehow integrated into the gallery, and I got the same result when I tried to access the camera. Next I tried wiping the cashes by booting into TWRP, same problem.. Lastly, I tried restoring an older version of the gallery from a titanium backup. This worked one time but crashed and then does the same thing (black screen and freezes) like before.
Does anybody have an idea of what could be causing this or a solution? I have looked around in the forums but it seems like most people with the issue were either dirty flashing CM10 or not using a stable release. I flashed my CM10 from scratch and I'm not having any other issues, re flashing is really not much of an option at this time because I won't have the time until after the new year.
Please help me fix this issue so that I can take pictures of my new years eve..lol
Android 4.3 Camera Security Bug - Samsung Galaxy Nexus upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.3 via OTA.
Anyone who recently upgraded can try and replicate this issue.
After upgrade launch the camera, try to set as default settings as you can (not sure if this matters, but try turning off the camera flash).
Use the rear facing camera, press the shutter button as fast as you can, look in the gallery. You might find that photos you previously took and deleted have resurfaced.
Try the same thing with the front facing camera.
I was able to "recover" photos taken and deleted a couple weeks ago using this method. I'm guessing that something in the software can't keep up so it finds old photos and uses them for some reason. After a few rounds of doing this, the problem went away, so maybe it cleared out some kind of cache or used up whatever leftover deleted photos there were.
Anyone else able to replicate?
Whole photos or just the thumbnail? I've had a similar thing on an archos tablet where the thumbnail is an old, deleted photo, but when you select it to display full size, it's the one that was just taken.

It was the whole photo viewed in the gallery. Swipe left from the camera app and the previously deleted photos were viewable. Tap once, they fill the screen, pinch to zoom they enlarge. I didn't try downloading them to my computer through USB. The problem went away after a few rounds of doing this and deleting all available photos, it was quite disconcerting in terms of privacy. The front camera and rear camera seemed to have their own separate caches of deleted photos as the issue happened with each independently. I ended up doing a factory reset which hopefully will be good enough. Nothing special about my device, Galaxy Nexus GSM, purchased from the play store, always upgraded through OTA, never unlocked, never custom ROMs, never rooted, etc...
Hi there,
I really hope I posted in the right section, as I'm new to this place and, even though I read some of the guidelines around, I'm still not sure. Anyway, I have a problem with my phone, an Alcateo OT 6030X (which is known around here as Orange San Remo - I'm from Romania). I just bought the phone a few days ago from someone, and while everything seemed fine at first, I came across a problem with its video camera.
When I switch to video, I get an icon on the top of the screen that allows me to select some video effect [big moth, big eyes, stretched face], but when I activate one of them, the camera just freezes, and sometimes the whole phone too. I tried a full factory reset the other days and everything worked correctly until last night. I even checked that specific feature yesteday morning and it was working perfectly, but last night it just froze again. I did install some apps I commonly use yesterday, so my suspicion is that one of the apps is to blame. I have attached the details of my phone, as well as all the apps I currently have.
Any help is apprecieted. Thank You!
Nobody?
Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
