I'm having problems with ttorrent freezing my device when downloading and was woundering if anyone else has this problem n how to fix it
i'm having the same issue! having the same issue with adownloader. would really like to find a solution to this. i have tried undervolting, reducing to 1 torrent at a time, and reducing download speed to <100kb/sec to no avail.
I'm using Overcome 2.1.1 and Pershoot 2.6.36.4 on the P7500
Hmmm, no problems here. I'm on GalaxyTask 10 and whatever kernel comes with that (Pershoot's, but not sure which one [definitely not his most recent]). Are you using the the full version?
I'm using Adownloader now and it seems to fine (fingers crossed). I'm also on the latest task 10

ATorrent works fine for me (the free version). No special roms on my tab tho. I gave up on the latest task rom because at about 3 days after installing it my tab slowed to a crawl (5 minutes to turn off the tab is pretty slow). I rarely turn my tab off. YMMV

I am unfortunately experieincing the very same problems... Both Progs freeze my tab after 3 - 10 minutes and force me into a lenghty reboot! :-(
Particularly annoying since I normally "torrent" the newest series episodes before leaving for the train in the morning and since I have the tab I feel silly also carrying a Notebook with me.
I have not been able to test the progs ona stock rom...
I'm having the same trouble even after upgrading to:
overcome 2.2.0
pershoot 2.6.36.4 - OC-VFPv3-d16_FP 1.4GHZ (Jan 9, 2012)
from:
Overcome 2.1.1
pershoot 2.6.36.4 - OC-VFPv3-d16_FP 1.4GHZ (Dec 11, 2011)
on the P7500
I've the exact same problem since i switched to CM9
No problems here (using Ttorrent) im on Task14

Hi - quick question for everyone. I have loaded a variety of ROMs (and done the partition fix) but am frequently getting a full crash where the system totally locks up with a single color on the screen with two sets of dotted lines on the left side of the screen (in landscape). The color varies but the dotted lines are always there.
It happens at random times - but sometimes it is consistent. I always get it with VEGAn-TAB when doing google voice search (hooked up to Dolphin HD) and sometimes when just doing regular tasks (downloading from the market, flash videos, etc).
Is this generally a hardware issue or ROM related? Just curious if I have a problem with my gTablet hardware or if I just need to fully wipe it and start over to resolve the problem.
Also - thanks to all the devs for the great work!
Update: I totally wiped everything and went to TnT Lite 4.4.0. Everything is working fine (including google voice searches) - but if I use anything for too long (like a long flash video) it will still lock up with the two dotted lines on the left hand side. Anyone else seen this behavior?
Update 2: Looks like these freezes (CPU crashes) are indicative of a hardware problem if you are only running at a max frequency of 1GHz. After some troubleshooting with Pershoot I decided to return my gTablet and hope the new one isn't so sensitive. Apparently this is not a common problem with custom kernels at 1GHz max frequency or less.
Just received mine yesterday.
I have the exact problem you are describing (good job describing it) & I am also wondering hardware/software to know if I need to return it. I'm waiting for the battery to die to see if that helps.
I'm using the the default ROM with the OTA 3588 update with a factory data reset done (still remembers my timezone ...).
Thanks for the reply. I went back to stock 3588 with the enhancement pack and flash 10.2 - ran a flash video for a good 15 min and everything was fine. Decided to move back to Vegan 5.1.1 and so far no issues. My common thread so far is when I use any of the newer kernels (like what is included in TnT lite 4.4.0 I see the issue. Then again I have been really careful with mounting system/data partitions when doing my ROM upgrades/wipes so maybe that has something to do with it.
Going to keep using Vegan 5.1.1 over the weekend with the stock kernel and see if I get the frozen screen again.
Anyone else seen the issue on their gTablets?
Anyone seeing this issue with newer ROMs? I was hoping the RC1 Vegan-Ginger build would solve the problem but I still get the frequent freezing. I saw this with TnT 4.4.0 as well but Vegan 5.1.1 never has the problem...
Wondering if it is a hardware, software or install related problem.
I think this might be an overheating issue, since I experience crashes like this while under a heavy processor load, e.g., while using Rockplayer or Google Earth.
Like you, I never experienced these crashes under Vegan 5.1.1. I've only experienced them after recently upgrading to Vegan 7.0.0. I'm using an overclocked kernel, but I get crashes even when I limit the CPU speed to the normal 1.0 GHz.
I did some detailed troubleshooting with Pershoot on this and the conclusion was it might be a bad processor (or really sensitive one) if these crashes are happening with the max frequency set to 1GHz. I too wouldn't see the issue with stock Vegan 5.1.1 - it has a stock kernel. Any modified kernels would have the issue at 1GHz or more. I was able to get it working well with a custom kernel at 912MHz but nothing more than that.
End of the story is if you are getting crashes at 1GHz it is probably a hardware issue - and not a common issue either.
Anyway, my gTab has appeared to be a return (purchased from Woot) - I decided to keep it initially but after learning this I asked them if they could swap it for a new unit. They were great about it - I have a new one on the way. My guess is somebody had a similar issue and returned it (probably to Staples) then Viewsonic sold them to Woot, and Woot sold it to me.
Fingers crossed that the new gTablet will not have such a sensitive processor.
Special thanks to Pershoot for helping me figure this one out!
It happens to me too but only when it's rock player or full screen YouTube. I'm running vegantab 7. Nice rom.....flacky video....I 'don't think it's hardware!

Try runnung the Antutu benchmark from the Market a few times. I found that anything that taxes the CPU enough would cause it to crash. Initially I thought it was only certain tasks but anything seems to do it given enough time.
Seems to last a little longer on a cold boot - once the processor has warmed up and you do something taxing it crashes though.
Ran 3 times....no issues. Maybe your CPU is overheating.

I think it was - on my unit at least it appeared to be a hardware problem.
I switched back to Vegan 5.1.1 and I was still getting crashes when I intentionally stress tested the gTablet. Now I'm trying pershoot's kernel with the default 912 MHz and it seems pretty stable. I'm curious how many other reports of hard-crashed tablets we'll see now that this thread's up.
Good to know - I suspected mine would crash under 5.1.1 if stressed enough but never got it to happen before returning it. If you see any crashes at 912 with pershoot's it would be good to note - mine seemed stable at 912 though.
My gtablet has the same problem. I have tried VEGAn GE v. 7.0.0 STABLE RC1 and CM7.0.3. I tried to adjust the CPU frequency in CM7. Anything above 1000 crashes almost instantly if stressed; at 912, it can run for a few minutes. It seems to be stable at 812, but I haven't tested long enough.
By the way, I got this used off ebay. Does it mean this one has a really bad CPU?
So right now I am running CM7, because at the time of choosing a ROM, CM7 was having less issues with Netflix, but now that there are modified netflix out there, I am now willing to switch.
On that note however, I am disapointed with how long it takes my gTablet to boot CM7. It takes, what I feel, is quite a while compared to what the stock ROM did. And I was wondering, are TNT or VeganTab any better?
I really just use the tablet casually, although I do care about keyboard support so that is also important.

Vegan-tab was the first one I put on my g tablet, but I quickly switcehd to CM7 because of the Netflix. I may go back to it. Honestly I don't care much about honeycomb, My tablet is used for ebooks for my classes, taking notes, and general internet browsing on campus (my rooted HTC Evo with wifi tethering, internet for my tablet anywhere I go!). So I really don't see needing honeycomb just yet.
So yeah, I may switch back to vegantab now. Thanks for the info, unless anyone else has an opinion. nearly 2 minute load times are just a bit long, my PC loads faster than that.

I would have been happy with one-minute boot times. My VEGAn Tab Ginger Edition boot times were more like three minutes or longer. I finally got fed up and switched to Calkulin+Clemsyn's Froyo rom.
Theres something fishy about ginger. Boot time on all of them are amazingly long.
I switched to a Malata stock firmware. The latest one called: T2_nvflash_mp_wifi_20110708_EA100.rar
It is Froyo.
0 seconds the Malata screen appears. Literally after I let go of the power button.
28 seconds the honey comb animation appears. Its Froyo, so why the honey comb ?
38 seconds the lock screen appears. The birds are gone when you switch to Malata.

I have been using various roms over the last 1.5 yrs, and just tried this one lately. I didnt like the other sense roms since I needed at least 2.2 to run my favorite app (google voice search). I didnt notice this as a sense rom til lately, and it works well. Only glitches Ive found are no voice directions in Navigation, and that reloading home screen is slow, about 15 seconds. Im planning on trying Supercharger v6 to speed it up, or maybe an overclocking app to help with that delay. Maybe there is a setting to lock home screen in memory, but havent found it yet.
From my experience, every Eris is different; a ROM may work perfectly fine on one Eris and force close half the time on another. My older sister and I both have Erises and her phone works best with a ROM that my phone crashes every time on.
Still, if you need a starting point, I'd recommend small GSB 4.3 ODEX. It's Gingerbread, but it has some very nice ICS theming.
For some reason, Gingerbread ROMs tend to be more stable than Froyo ROMs. Or maybe that's just the case with my Eris.
Good day.
Please advise rom based on 2.2 or 2.3 which has Sense. Thanks
Exodos sense by Mac is a good 2.3+

I bought a cheap bad-esn Eris for my 8 yr old son....just to use as a wifi device (kinda like a ipod touch). I've rooted & have tried a few ROMs but Angry Birds is still pretty laggy. It's playable using Adfree but still real laggy.
Is there any ROM (maybe overclocked) that will play Angry Birds and plants vs zombies w/o lag or is it just too weak?
thx....currently running OMGB_desirec-1.2.2

I have no issue with GtabComb 3.3. Facebook does have issues....but it has issues on my Motorola Xoom as well. I use Friendcaster instead.
Other than the CPU being a Tegra 2, all the other internals are different and require different drivers. Different board layout, different hardware (sensors, camera(s), etc.) even the kernel is different.
I have been using Gtabcomb 3.3 for a while and have had very few issues that haven't cleared by themselves. Like the Facebook app which finally self-corrected on the latest update.

If you want HC, the best is Flashback 10.3
Well supported by a team of dev and trouble shooters.

They are also working on a kernel for HC and ICS port to run HW graphics
If you want fast and everything working perfectly,
you have to stay with froyo..beasty/clem ultimate with OC ..superfast and smooth

My opinion on the 3.0 Port
Throwing out the crashes, as it's so pre-alpha it's very expected. It's the fastest rom I've ran on my 8GB Nook tablet. Also the headphone jack is SOOOO Loud. And it's gonna be a keeper as soon as the stability gets better. Battery life should be the last thing worried about.

Battery life is quite important for a mobile device. In the case of this kernels development, the devs are looking at battery as related to screen on time and the backlighting issue. So yeah, battery kinda relevant.

I believe the 3.x kernel should achieve a better battery life than former kernels , as soon as the backlighting issues got fixed .

It can, if the devs can get Ducati M3 working without the battery drain, rebooting, and backlighting (which is the cause of battery drain). The 2.6 kernel only used the Cortex A9 part of the Nook (only has 2 cores), but including the Ducati in for the 3.0 kernel would add the Ducati M3 cores (adding the Ducati M3s would make it 4 cores/quad core total), which would help Video and UI acceleration.

I meant, since the kernel is WIP, it would be best to worry about stability more than the battery life. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
how do you test?
I have gone back to 5/30/12 daily and have been up for over 1:30:36 minutes per cpu spy.
I have tried each day's daily, but this one is the best for not rebooting on my system. (16gb nt). I played solitaire for most of this time and try all other stuff.
I use GooManager and TWRC to download and flash each day's daily and request backups. Before rebooting I clean caches. Then starting testing...
Check that this is the latest flash, run cpu spy and then os monitor. Then check the weather via browser. If I have not rebooted, then play a few games of Solitaire. Then try a you tube hd. If still ago then try a page with a lot of flash stuff in browser. Then back to Solitaire.
What do you do for testing?
The reboots don't stop me at all. I test heavy applications that would require major Ducati usage.
I am using Kuzma's CM9 Build.
I try out HD in Youtube, including an Original definition (requires heavy video acceleration) that sometimes CM7 can't handle.
I play games that require fast 3d graphics and 2d graphics. You know, games that you usually play on Xbox 360 and PS3 but are ported to iOS and Android.
I use Flash alot in browsers, including watching E3 streaming in HD.
I work Ducati out like a boot camp.
I know Ducati is the reason of rebooting because,
Once I finished the Original definition Youtube video and exited to homescreen, reboot occurs.
Once I finish playing 2 3d games, reboot.
After the 2nd reboot, I check the battery.
Not much drain, probably atleast 10% or more after heavy usage of Ducati. I expected atleast 20% of a drain.
I tried E3 streaming, but after about 10 minutes, reboot bomb.
I work Ducati to see what it can really do.
I stay on Kuzma's build for more testing on Ducati.
So, now I know Ducati's Acceleration is the reason of rebooting.
does the release of samsung source,

I have installed GooManager and TWRC waiting for the right build to flash and test. (As soon as the re-boot issue is resolved, I will do so.)
Are the steps you listed all that are needed to flash CM9 with the 3.x kernel? (I have a 16gb NT running Team B's CM7) Just want to make sure it is that simple.
Thanks.
