[Q] download text message issues with CM7? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have noticed this issue when receiving text message from a certain contact (he has a iPhone 4s, if that makes a difference). The text message comes in as a 1kb file and my atrix shows a download button within the message. I go to click download and a message pops up saying unable to download. This seems to come in with every text message that he sends me.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a probably with iPhone4s texts?
Thanks ahead of time

EMS?

How can I enable EMS on the phone? When I try to send a 160+ character message to someone on the verizon network or they send one to me it keeps breaking it up. It should be kept as one block of text since verizon to verizon uses ems.

This isn't necessarily an answer but a workaround, I've heard that "Handcent SMS" breaks up your 160+ messages in two then sends them separately. If all else fails maybe you can try that.
But from my experience it seems weird because "sometimes" it sends them in two automatically and "sometimes" it doesn't
Actually, I have a related problem... For some reason, whenever I write a message that's longer than one text, it shows me the count of how many messages it takes up.... but when I send it, the other person NEVER gets it. Isn't it supposed to break it up into separate messages? It doesn't send it at all.

Sms time stamp issue

Hi guys, It's possible to know the times of the message has been sent?
when i turn on my x10, it only shows the times of the messages are being received. It does matter to me when the message is being sent.
for example: if someone send a message for an emergency at 1pm, and fews hours later, you turn your phone on and see the times of the message being received on your x10 which is quiet late for an emergency.
On my N97. It does have this feature which is very useful to me.
Just long press on the message and you should get a pop up with View Message Details and it gives you the time.
On the Handcent SMS app which I prefer to the stock app, it gives you a time just above the speech bubble containng the message on the thread.

thanks for your input, but i dont think you understand my question.
This also annoys me. Every phone I have ever had has been able to show me the time the message was sent, not just received. But even when long pressing and then selecting 'Message Details', it still only shows the time it was received, annoying!
still no one can answer this?? that's suck

[Q] Time error when receiving text messaging on custom ROMs

When I receive text messages from my contacts, their "sent time" is always behind by 5 hours. The messages were not delivered 5 hours late. It's just the time on the message is displayed wrong. The message I replied to them displays the correct time.
My brother's vibrant seems to have the same problem. It's not a big deal, but it's quite tedious to read messages when they are not lined up in the right order.
When I odin'ed back to stock ROM, this error disappears. However, when I flash Axura, Obsidian, the new Nero ROMs, they all produce the same messaging time error.
Is there anyone else experiencing the same problem? Could someone help me out here?

I fixed the problem by downloading "SMS time fix" app from the market.
Apparently this error only happens to certain Rogers users in Canada.

SMS Error - Cause Code 0 Unknown

I am getting SMS Error - Cause Code Addr.Vcnt.,0
I have only experienced this on sending International txt messages but when you send a long txt msg your phone normally splits the txt messages into the allowed txt size for example you can write up to 160 per message and if you go over your phone splits it into seperate txt messages instead of 1 but I tried to send one long message internationally and got the error code instead of splitting the message.
I have even tried doing this on shorter messages right over 160 like 161 it still gives me the error code. This is the first phone I experienced this on other phones it would split the message.
Has anyone experienced this or is there a fix, I wonder if sprint is aware of the problem.
Ok I called sprint and they Identified the error code right away. Stating that error is when a network on the other end does not accept msg over a certain amount of characters.
So the cause of this is motorola not Sprint, they stated they intentionally did not put in the software for splitting the msgs automatically when going over a certain amount of characters it keeps it as one big message.
The issue has been reported to them by various customers already and have gotten no response back from motorola.
Hopefully we can get an update on this soon
Try the handcent app. It will allow you to split messages. I'm using it on the photon now and it works great. Has a lot of customizable features, too. And, best of all, FREE!

Thanks I will give it a try , but still would be nice if Motorola would change this in their first update from sprint.

It is sprint. I will be on the phone and sms someone and get this error back. I am literally texting only hi or hey or test while I am on the phone and it is getting a failed error code 0.

Messages not sent when you receive a new one?

Is it just me or does this happen to everyone? It happens every time not randomly.
I get a hangouts (or text though hangouts) and I reply by voice with watch. If someone sends me a message again before my message says sent (or even right after with in a couple seconds) then my message never goes through unless I go check the dialog chat even though I get the green check box saying sent...
Very annoying! !

This is happening to me sometime but still haven't got to replicate and troubleshoot this issue
I am having the exact issue as well. It doesn't seem to be limited to just getting another hangouts message, but another notification period.
Getting a notification around the same time seems to almost always cancel my outbound message and it doesn't show up anywhere even though the watch says Sent. I have no idea how to fix this, is there any direct way to report these problems to the development team?
