Bluetooth. Volume sux - Motorola Droid RAZR

I can barely hear music thru my motor by headset. Calls are OK though.
Any fix?

I have the? Motorola Sliver and no problems with volume at all. In fact, I must keep it turned down. What do you have?

Download and try the free version of Volume+. BE CAREFUL with it. It allows you to amplify sound beyond the specs listed for the phone. Use it gradually (try +1, then +2, etc. if necessary). It has individual settings for headsets, bluetooth, and the regular speaker.

Bluetooth through my car radio (alpine cda-105 with a KCE-400BT) is kind of low, but I paired it with a new 2012 VW and it was perfect. So I don't think it's the phone.

I've noticed that the phone automatically adjusts the volume down to about half when it's paired with a bluetooth media device. Then when you turn up the volume the volume level displayed on the phone will go up but the sound doesn't get louder. There are three fixes I found that work depending on the circumstances:
1) Hit the volume down button. This might get the volume level displayed to drop to half immediately. If that's the case then you can turn up the volume like normal and the sounds should go up to normal.
2) If the first one doesn't work try to un-pair and re-pair the devices.
3) Next try to delete the bluetooth pairing completely and start over.

What headset you have? I hope its not the LG one...

A2DP and Gingerbread volume issue

I was wondering if anyone else had issues with their Bluetooth headset after the gingerbread upgrade? Before, on Froyo, I had independent settings for the volume on my headset and on my phone (by this I mean I could turn up the volume all the way on the phone, but still had the five or so presets on my headset); this would give me about 30 or so different volumes I could be at. Now, with Gingerbread, when I change the volume on the phone, it only changes the volume on my headset, so I'm down to only 5 different loudness settings. Sounds like something menial to complain about, but the lowest volume now is blaring, which makes listening to music at work impossible without disturbing others. Any fix that anyone knows of, or anyway around this? Thanks,
Jacob
Bluetooth on gingerbread is working fine for me.
all volume settings.
You might end up resorting to RE -flashing the system.img file for 2.3.4
it should fix it using fastboot
a easier way would be to use the new fruitcake to restore with CWM they work.
I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 which does not have volume control on it, so for devices without the bt volume thing, it plays at full blast even at the lowest volume on the phone.
I downloaded the Bluetooth Volume app and it seems to fix a lot of the volume problems, but its still finicky.
I *just* got this headset, so I don't know if this was a problem with 2.2 Froyo.
I us the S9-HD headset, and everything still works fine with all buttons/volume settings on GB.

Compatible earphones?

Right, now this almost made me send this phone back, thats how much it annoyed me, but i decided to soldier on none-the-less. I have a pair of Sony in earphones with remote, said remote works on my Desire, with every music player ive ever used in the last 19 months, never had a problem, but for some reason they dont work with my Razr, and neither do a pair of iPod/iPhone in earphones that are kicking around the abode (the missus', not mine ), with any music player i try that i know works on my Desire.
I queried this on another forum and apparently both sets of earphones i tried are "incompatible" Is this true? are only certain earphones able to work with the Razr? And if so, does anyone know if there is a "compatible" list of earphones that work?
Could you good people just list the earphones that work for you, and maybe we could get a good list of working sets for people to be able to reference to, to make life a bit easier for all us music listen too'ers.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, and not just by me im sure.
AFAIR there is an app on the Market to assign functions to those buttons.

Try "Headset Droid" out. I haven't tested with the RAZR, but it's worked for me on every other device.
I can confirm my SGS2 in-earphones are working flawlessly on my RAZR.
As for buttons, try one of the apps for assigning the buttons to functions.
any of these work for beats?

Cheers Brian, tried it, and many others...and nothing, i think it must be a hardware issue TBH, which if Moto did on purpose, thats COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS.

ugh, seriously? Google needs to standardize the headset controls pronto - this is a problem that should NOT exist..My RAZR arrives today so I'll post later this evening (CST) if the JLab J3M's work or not.
If all else fails, there's always bluetooth (those controls are standardized, so they'll work). I personally like the Jabra Clipper (if you can still find it). Allows you to use any set of headphones you prefer with the bluetooth receiver.

Ok, so without Headset Droid installed, my JLab's did not work - at all. Not even pause worked.
I installed Headset Droid and configured it as such:
General Settings ->
Double Click Delay: 250ms
Click and hold delay: 450ms
Target Media Player: Music
Ignore Simulated Clicks: NOT checked
Button Actions -> Play/Pause button actions ->
Single Click: Play/Pause + answer call/end call
Double Click: Next Track + decline call/mute mic
Triple Click: Next Track + repeat caller
Quadruple Click: Next Track
Click and Hold: Volume reset and rise
Double click and hold: rewind
triple click and hold: fast forward
These settings work acceptably with the stock music app (and I'm sure they'll work for any 3rd party app as well, just change the target media player setting).
Remember: Headset Droid will not work if on the main screen it doesn't say "service is activated". Headset droid should automatically start once it detects the use of headset controls.
You can try to tweak it for better response (mine's not perfect) by clicking on "headset monitor" and testing to see how your headset button presses are being interpreted by the system. You may need to change delays or other settings to get it just right for your tastes (i'm not 100% happy with mine yet either).
This is the only solution I have..but it's certainly better than buying a new headset that will most likely sound like..well..awful. Once it's set right, you never have to touch it again, it really is a silent app - if you like it, throw some cash the developer's way (as I have).
is there something like this for the razr

Yep I've had probs, when running I've randomly called people, not sure how as there's no controls on my Panasonic sport headphones, but did have endomondo and the music player running, perhaps there was a software conflict, any one else had it?
Hi, i have AKG Q350. Control (vol + & -) and mic don't work
I have a Motorola S10-HD Bluetooth head set. Sense it is motorola, all functions work with the RAZR, to include, play, pause, skip, go back a song, and volume. With a built in mike you can also send and receive phone calls.
Being wireless, it's great for working out or what ever. I have great range with mine. Haven't had any issues with sweat or humidity.
Only draw backs, if you have a small head, it may not fit you correctly. Also, sense the 2.3.6 update, volume is very loud. I have to keep all media volumes turned all the way down most of the time. And with the Battery/receiver portion in the back, it's not very comfortable to lay on. I have to go with regular head phones when lounging on the couch.
I love them for 95% of the day though. Give them a look.
Headphone jack wiring
I had this problem as well - I tracked it down to the pinout of the jack being reversed at the tip (mic and ground reversed) - which makes iphone-compatible headsets not razr compatible.
I picked up a nice set of Seinheiser's specifically for android, and they worked without a hitch. Anything designed to work for apple though, forget it.
I am of course excluding bluetooth from this, I'm talking wired headsets only.
It's a pain. There's an adapter you can purchase - kvconnection had them the last time i looked - but it's annoying to need yet another bit of tech.
My dr dre ur beats that came with a sensation xe dont work on the razr. They do respond with the app player pro. But still not 100%

[Q] bluetooth has no sound in either car

The bluetooth sound on my phone went out while I was on a paired phone call in the car. The phone has no problem pairing with 2 cars, but will not play any sound with either a phone call or bluetooth music in either car now. When I try to make a call the call is routed to the car but neither the sound or the microphone seem to work. If I switch back to the phone's speaker, everything is fine again. Can anyone help me with this?
I have unpaired the phone with the car and re-paired.
I have done a master reset on the car audio receiver.
I have made sure that the media volume is at maximum level.
I am trying not to do a master reset on the phone because I dont want to add the apps and games again.
I am NOT rooted, running software version 2.13.651.1710RD.
Do a soft reset. Hold power and.up volume till it shuts done. 10 secs or so...bottom.lights will blink but ignore. Once off power it.back.on. this happened to me and I almost returned my.Bluetooth headphones. It worked perfect.after

Yeah as I was typing the question and thinking of the troubleshooting steps I had already taken, I realised that I had not don a simple re-boot. I re-booted and went to the car and everything was perfect. Thanks for the response.

[Q] Very weird and frustrating volume issue

Hello all,
I am experiencing a very weird volume issue. I'm debating sending the phone in for the insurance, but I heard that this phone has stopped being sent back as a replacement, my buddy with the same one had to pick a different one. So I would like to find a workaround
Problem:
The volume is inconsistent, very much so, but only at very intermittent times, sometimes frequently. It starts at one of the two levels, low and high, and switches between the two sometimes 5 times in a few min or once every few day. it occurs across every application and every re-install of the venom rom.
It is a problem because 1. it is annoying, and 2.I have a very loud sound system in my car.
Normal loud listening volume is around 20-23 out of 35. i can turn it all the way up with no distortion and it is extremely loud at this point, loud enough to damage ears easily. When I turn it up that loud(at festivals) I like to wear earplugs in it. When I'm just driving I don't need it that loud, but I always ride to taste with the volume. Sometimes i don't look at the volume level on my car, the volume on my phone is up all the way but it has decided to take a low level to start today. While driving and not looking at the volume, just listening to it, i will usually set my volume at 33-35, then the phone decides to jump to it's loud setting making me cringe and swerve in pain and surprise as I sound like a rattling venue driving around. I have mostly solved this by just using my ipod. But I really like having spotify and pandora in there. plus android kicks ass, my ipod feels like a backup hard drive in it's waterproof case
Have Tried:
Pushing volume button up(does nothing when low)
Rebooting
Re-installing os
Bluetooth vs aux (both same problem)
resetting Bluetooth connection
removing and and pushing in headphones
placing a call
Guess:
it appears to not affect calls or ringer volume, just media volume, even speakerphone is unaffected. my guess is something in the audio processing section due to it affecting bluetooth and aux out. I have ruled out speaker, installed programs, connection type, time of day, specific mp3's, temperature, movement and what i'm doing on it. It is really stumping me, usually I can figure out what is broken on the inside of things hardware related, but I don't know the inner workings of this phone exactly.
Would like:
To know what is actually going on. A fix would be awesome, but I mainly want to know what it could possibly be. It has confused me for too long.
To know if the phone can be replaced for the same model to hold out until next summer
Would not like:
To be told to just get a new phone. I like this one and the rom on it. plus i already paid for it and a new battery. i will live with the issue until next summer if need be
Any ideas?
Which media player are you using? Since it only occurs during media playback perhaps a different media player will give you some insight

I usually use power amp.
Though the problem occurs across that, the stock media player, Pandora, spotify, youtube, flash videos. pretty much everything except for calls and ringer.
Try using a app that (re)sets the volume every time you connect to the radio via Bluetooth. I use a car dock that automatically launches my car app (car home ultra) when the phone is inserted, and the app then automatically sets the Bluetooth media volume to a preset volume every time.

[Q] S4 audio lowered.

I use my phone to connect to my cars bluetooth. I've had since the phone since July and it sounded really good up until about three days ago. For some reason the audio lowered and doesn't sound as crisp as it used to. I know it is not the car stereo because my other devices still play perfectly. I have to turn my radio up to the point where the music will sound distorted.
Example = s4 on bluetooth turned to 25 - sounds great
s4 on bluetooth now turned to 25 - can barely hear it.
Is there a setting or even an equalizer that I can use to maybe fix this issue? Also is there any setting in the phone ( running stock ) that I might've pressed that decreased my volume?
Look into a custom rom, I know Hyperdrive has a volume hack slight/loud which works for me. Hopefully someone has an easier way to accomplish this.
Unfortunately I can't root this phone because it was given to me for work purposes.
Sometimes I have this problem, idk how busy you are, but hangouts will sometimes lower volume for me to make a notification sound and forget to put it back, try making your phone give you a notification sound and see if puts it back
