I created a petition to help get Gameloft to realize the frustration of owning a quad-core Tegra 3 device with no support from them. Please sign this and pass this along to as many people you can.
change.org/petitions/gameloft-support-asus-prime-tablet[/url]
I would thought this is only a matter of time until Tegra 3 is used in more and more tablets.
anyway, signed it as cannot see any harm getting support earlier.
I agree with the petition but also feel that this devices popularity will trigger the big boy devs to get off their butts and toss out some support. It's not just Gameloft...much more wide spread then that and the support for apps for my Galaxy player 4.0 far surpasses my Prime.
What bums me even more is Popcaps lack of prime support....can the original transformer even play plants vs zombies yet? This is the only draw back of having something so new and I would imagine that ICS will make it a bit worse before it undoubtedly makes it better.
Not that you don't have a valid point...but online petitions are retarded.
tegra3 will be supported by gameloft, but the prime specifically needs to be supported by them, or else it will end up like the tf101 not being supported when other tegra2 tablets are.
i would rather just bombard them with emails/tweets/facebook posts over an online petition, they're far harder to ignore.
I can already see how online petitions are going to become a pain and be overused. Don't like something, create a petition. Petitions can definitely be a good thing and have proved it, but being online is going to make them almost too easy to do.
Give the developers time. The Prime is not even a month old. A lot of people haven't even got their preorders yet so how do you expect all the developers to have primes to test with? I wish Hulu already supported the prime, but I'm not going to go set up a petition and demand it right away. Be patient.
this is a great idea as its better than no action taken at all. ill give Gameloft a lil bit of time since the Prime was just literally released. but can't wait to long or will fall into the same fate as OG transformer had. gameloft is really confusing. they could make games for Prime/tegra3 that would blow the other ones away. they really need to release this is a market they need tl get their paws into. if they don't do something soon, ill sign the petition also.
I recommend in addition to this petition, that we should all go to this link on the company's website and file a complaint/request that they support the Prime and Tegra 3 platform in all of their games.
GO HERE:
http://www.gameloft.com/support/
Any chance you could fix the wording on that petition?
"We want support for the Asus Transformer Prime tablet. Your lack of Android device compatibility will no longer go be tolerated."
"We want support for the Asus Transformer Prime tablet. Your lack of Android device compatibility will no longer be tolerated."
Plus I think the harsh wording just goes to make the person reading the petition angry which lessens there chances of approval. just my .02.

Its not like they are intentionally breaking the games so they don't work on tegra 3. You have to give them time to tweak the code and make it all work.
Its no different then a new video card and a new PC game, sometimes it takes a bit to get it sorted.
I'm sure they're not intentionally breaking the game but will they ever work on it? The original transformer is so far behind. It only has like 4 games for it. And they're the older ones like Sparta, Nova, Spiderman, I forget the other.
They dont need to tweak the code or do anything fancy. To support the prime they just need to edit 1 line of code.
But they also want to utilize what the prime has that no other tablet has.

For all we know they are setting aside a high res pack.
Game devs don't usually like isolating customers. If we were talking about an obscure device that sold 1000 units it might be a write off, but this device is too wide spread. I'm sure it has already been discussed internally.

I previously bought a few games from Gameloft, that are not currently installable on the Prime. So, I signed the petition. Abount and hour later I got an email from Gamestop.. a form letter, that was multilingual, asking me to provide details of the issue that I am experiencing.
Anybody else receive one of these emails, or did you guys use bogus email addys?

**** man, I thought this was going to be a petition to get the GPS working, didn't think something as frivolous as getting games to support quad core.
After what Gameloft has done with regard to the TF101, unless they make a game my other half is willing to sell me for, they are never going to make a red cent out of me, whether or not they make their games work on the Prime.

We are gaining some ground on this petition. This petition provides everyone an easy way to show support for their Prime. If they get enough signatures, it will help speed up the inevitable support for this tablet. Keep in mind, the TF101 STILL has no support, so signing this petition can only help the cause. Please help sharing the link so we get more signatures.

Im buying the new transformer prime... but about 4 days ago i was heading out the door to buy an ipad 2 before a friend showed me this great device. So far in the last 4 days since i heard of this tablet ive told 20 different people about this and NO ONE knows about it, NO ONE!! not a soul, and who can blame them?
there's no commercials, there's almost no add campaign at all... there's not even a solid release date yet!!
im finding it hard to make an investment in this company.
I won't get into how much money Apple dunks into marketing their products. This all comes down to how much more they will gain by dumping millions on advertising it. Will they make 10x profit compared to the cost? If they can't get a good estimate, then most company chooses to just let online "press" and retailers advertise in their stead. See how it goes and promote it further. Most people learn about products on TV and the Internet, but what makes them want to buy a product is from knowing someone that owns it or have experienced it first hand. There's no reason for a corporation to invest in marketing a product if it is not a 100% sure hit. It has something to do with corporate decisions.
The EeePad Transformer was a pretty good device with AWESOME support. That is what Asus does. I can verify that is what Asus does best; slow at getting customers, but keeps them forever because they stay behind their products. If you ever purchase their video cards, or other hardware, you will find that Asus will treat you like family.
Apple may have good Customer Support but that lasts how long? 90 days without a warranty?
But also, this is a new product as its not just another Tablet. While current Transformer users love the product, it does seem a little unusual. The Transformer line-up will become a pretty big thing in the next few years I'm sure.
I was surprised that in a group of 20 people 2 recognised Asus Transformer for what it was and no one called it iPad. It was in Poland. I don't know if there were advertisements in TV for it or sth. It's in most big shops though, maybe people know it from their ad flyers (I don't know how it's called - ads for big stores that are left on your front door with information about new promotions).
Android tablets suffer from hardware-war. But the thing is that majority of consumers are mainly interested in CONTENT, not the device and its hardware. This is why Amazon Kindle jumped amazingly fast in sales even though their custom skin for Android and hardware of the device are relatively lacklustre.
Android makers mainly battle with their features and hardware. But that's not the way to make an impact.
I understand word of mouth is a great way to sell products, but since no one i know has ever heard of this thing, i got lucky that some random xbl friend happened to know about it. I find it hard to beleave that ASUS is a marketing geniuses that is using a unique marketing trick which is the opposite of what everyone else does.
Apple has everyone brain washed, including me a little while ago, and thats what ASUS should be striving for.. not hide in the shadows and let the fans do the selling.

I don't think anyone's trying to argue that Asus is a marketing genius. But they don't have anywhere close to Apple's financial resources. So instead of a billion dollar ad campaign, they spend that money on developing and continuously supporting their products. Apple may have people brainwashed, but Asus doesn't need to resort to that, as their products speak for themselves.
And if you look at the release of the Transformer 1, which sold much faster than it could be produced initially (and it looks like the same might be the case for the TF2), you can see they must be doing something right.
Thank god I won't have to see a billion other people holding the same device as me. I want to throw up when I see everyone on the bus using the same iPhone.

Just wanted to clarify that Apple products have a 1 year warranty included, and you can just drive to an Apple store to get it serviced, and not having to pay to RMA your products by mailing it and wait...
I've been thinking about this tablet, and it's release date wondering why it's not out yet.
All I can think of is
1) Want to get rid of inventory of TF101's
or
2) Really want to wait to get the ICS out with the tablet. Because it significantly increases the performance of the Tegra 3 quad core tablet. Maybe, if they release with Honeycomb, and the Quad core is slightly better performance than Dual core, they look overpriced, and low benchmarks get circulated around the web.
Both are pure speculation without but there has to be some reason it's not out yet.

They remind me of the "Santa's helper Elves" in A Christmas Story (yeah, the one with Ralphie).
They re definitly waiting for ICS to launch the Prime. And they are right to do so. don't ship an unfinished product, especialy when hopes and demands are so high about it.

Or they want to be sure they have plenty of stock, and that stock it where it's supposed to go, before releasing it. I imagine there's a lot of demand, and more places than ever wanting to sell it. Logistically, it's a lot of work.

This is what I'm thinking is the case. The first time around, the TF101 was back-ordered for weeks and the dock didn't launch for a month after the tablet. This is not a fun situation to be in for the company or consumers. I'm sure that not being able to meet demand takes a toll on potential sales.
That said, it is also possible that they are wanting to deliver what had been rumored, since it was within their abilities to do. The tech blogs were making a lot of noise at the end of last month, beginning of this month about the Prime as being the first Tegra 3 and first ICS tablet to market. It does not seem out of the question that Asus would try to live up to the rumors if possible, especially while trying to justify a higher price-point than the original.
well this is making me feel better about ASUS, but my last argument is more of a nuh-uhh then anything else. I still say, even if they lack the resources there should be some small add campaign, a release date, internet adds. I was extremely lucky to find this product.

To be fair, Asus has service centers all over their home country Taiwan that are similar to Apple's genius bars.
I think it's just because Asus is based in Taiwan that we don't see much of their advertising and great service. They seem to focus most of their efforts in their home country. If you go look around there you'll see Asus ads everywhere.
Just because they don't advertise; makes it a bad product. Most people buy IOS devices because they simply aren't geekish and just want a device that works ,(Not counting the ever annoying and ignorant iSheep/iFanboys).
What i love about Asus, is that the products speak for themselves.
I remember when the HTC Evo 4G had been announced but not yet released... and everyone was clamoring and *****ing, wondering why HTC & Sprint didn't bother with any pre-release advertising and hype. And look, it went to become one of the more popular Android offerings in recent history.
Don't sweat it...
Guys here in the US the Prime is 100% sold out on Amazon, has been since 48 hours from being made available. Doesn't matter if it has commercials or not, it's already making money and isn't even on shelves.

Tegra 3 is better than the A5 Chip.
The GPU in Tegra 3 is actually better than the SGX543, but its 2 GPU not one which is why its benchmark is higher, if you half the score in GLBenchmark for iPad 2 you see that Tegra 3 is btter. So hardware Android isnt far behind.

The Transformer Prime TF700T will likely be the first tablet released to sport a 2.3-million-pixel, 1,920x1,200 screen. For those keeping count, that's more than twice the pixel count of any previous tablets, which top out at 1,280x800 (1.02 millions pixels).

Ha ha, no.
This will not "destroy" Nook Tablet sales. The Asus may be big among tech types, but the NT wasn't made for tech types. It was made for moms and grandmas. The fact that it can be hacked means nothing to the target audience. The Asus won't cut into NT sales at all. Nook has way better name recognition and that's really all that matters to people considering something like the Nook. If they can't afford an ipad, they'll want a nook or a kindle, because that's the thing everyone has heard of. No one's ever going to go "hey wait, this model from a company I've barely heard of does more than the nook." They're going to go with the tab that has the most name recognition and publicity. It's the same reason people buy ipads when they could get tabs that do a lot more, for a lot less. Specs don't matter to the tablet layman. People like that just want what they've heard of and what everyone else has.
Again, for tech types, the Asus tab may blow the Nook out of the water. But most people considering the nook aren't tech types. As such, I'm guessing the Asus won't affect Nook sales even slightly.
Great. All that remains is: When?

Don't forget Asus kicked ass among the non-techie crowd with netbooks. I'd argue that not only do they have better name recognition than the Nook, they have far better marketing and product distribution as well.
It's too early to tell for sure, but if any company could make a cheap tablet as successful as they made cheap netbooks, it's Asus.
Meanwhile, B&N strikes me as a company that can barely manage to sell anything even to people that wanted the Nook Tablet.
With Amazon the Kindle is a highly recognized brand, but the Nook is far less so from what I've seen. I find that when people see the NT, they tend to ask "Hey, is that that new Kindle?" When told it's a Nook, the most common reaction is "The what...?"
great news
but maybe a long time to wait
It does sound awfully tempting, but I'm going to hold onto my NT and, depending on how at Asus tablet does, sell my NT on Craigslist and upgrade.
A locked bootloader is less of a problem when you aren't locking normal features down in your own ROM. Leave my sideloading and USB host intact, and my need for hacks decreases dramatically. But for the record, they released an official unlocker tool on the prime at the cost of voiding your warranty, so you have options.
This is INCREDIBLY tempting. Has anyone returned their NT under the extended holiday return policy? Is it as simple as saying "I don't want it", because I'm really feeling buyer's remorse for the first time. There doesn't seem to be any upside to NT at all (other than that it is available today, not a quarter from now).
$250 for more features with fewer restrictions...
Yes. Many of us have returned it without any problems.

Yeah because little kids really need quad-core *tablets*...
I still can't believe people think tablets are real productivity devices. Not trying to single you out here, but a laptop is infinitely better for productivity. Tablets, at their core, are entertainment (movies, music, reading, internet, games) devices with the ability for extremely light information gathering.
The thing that alarms me the most is that people seem to forget that instead of using a lot of these gadgets for schoolwork, kids will most likely just use them for games. At least when I was in grade school we had Math Blaster and that reading adventure game.

Well actually, he never said his kids were little. They could be teenagers, in which case I'd think a tablet would be right up their alley.
Also, what's wrong with owning a device that's not solely focused on productivity? Laptops are great but tablets are also really fun. And now that they're dropping in price, I can see why more parents would want to get them for their kids. Especially when you consider the fact that most kids probably want an ipad, which is super expensive AND unproductive. I can see $200 tabs being a nice alternative for parents who want to get their kids tablets without paying ipad prices.
They are 7,7(bg twins) and 10
3 private schools in my area- one of which boys only- are currently switching to tablet only instead of books - BECAUSE- they weighed the books a senior in highschool needed...41lbs of books & the cost to parents was 975 dollars JUST FOR THE BOOKS.
one of my friends is an athletic director/health science teacher and he uses his tablet(an ipad) for every class. it hooks into his overhead projector/display, he takes attendance, has all his notes, classwork, Everything is on his ipad for his work, ALL the teachers for the school are using them.
the state of maine is in the process of switching over, burlington ma the schools are all switching over, several schools are phasing in tablets, with a few starting as young as kindergarten.
by the time my 7yr olds graduate from high school, i predict that about half the country will be tablet only for schools
Hi guys, heard of this tab before but never found out the specs, and I gotta say, I'm impressed, and it has great support here in xda (a virtuous Rom is good enough for me lol). So I was thinking of buying an iPad this year, especially if the 3rd gen comes out. But really, I'm getting tired of ios( I have an iPod touch), and I also have a galaxy tab 7(old one) which sucks completely. Also, where would be the best place to buy this quad core beast?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Xparent Green Tapatalk
Prime, no question. Which software you prefer - iOS vs. ICS - will likely come down as a matter of personal preference. Most people on this board will probably tell you they like the customizability and increased functionality that Android offers over iOS. But the hardware on the Prime is superior as well:
- Better, sharper, and wide-screen display
- Camera is head and shoulders better (arguably the best tablet camera on the market)
- Tegra 3 is a beast
- Ports - expansion slots, HDMI, and USB (with dock) all give the device much greater flexibility and functionality.
- The dock - this thing is way more awesome than a bluetooth keyboard
- FLASH. Apple and Google can pretend it doesn't matter, but we all know that the internet is a lonely, porno-less place without flash.
Plus, I love the spun aluminum design. The iPad is a pretty piece of kit, but the Prime beats it with the spun aluminum and widescreen aspect ratio. The iPad's 4:3 makes me feel like there isn't much difference between holding it in "portrait" or "landscape," whereas the Prime offers two distinct viewing experiences, each offering their own benefits. Don't worry so much about all the talk about wi-fi problems - they seem to be limited to a minority, and you can always take it back for a new one if you encounter problems. Plus, that's why you have the friendly folks of XDA to help
really depends the type of person you are....
for example.... im a straight up hacker, i hack everything i get my hands on..... thats why i chose the prime.... im dying to mod this thing completely....
HOWEVER, the ipad has way better software..... it all depends what you want.... either mod or nice apps....
i'm mostly talking about really good apps to make music on the ipad that the android dont have
In reviews, the prime out performs the ipad2 hands down. Easy choice.
Definitely get the Prime, its amazing, and much more fun than an iOS device which you run out of neat little things to figure out in about 5min. Also don't get too turned off by all of the problems on this forum because people use the forums for support so there will always be tons of issues on here, many of which are only caused by users f**king around with unofficial updates they found online. As far as hardware and software I have had no major problems that went unresolved, my wifi and Bluetooth are also great.
At first i would have said neither (hate ipads) but on my 4th machine i think i got a fully working one, even picked up 10 sats which was a first.. now i would say almost definitely a prime.. sooner or later someone will add http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone into their rom, that thing looks amazing..
Wait until the iPad 3 comes out before deciding. As of now the Asus Transformer Prime smokes the iPad 2 in terms of specs, but it's to be expected since the iPad 2 is a year old and the Prime is just a month or two. Meanwhile, the iPad 3 will have a Retina Display and either a quad core Cortex-A9 processor or a dual core Cortex-A15. Both options will match or maybe even beat Tegra 3.

.Prime hands down, future updates and mods will make this beast something even more beastly than can imagine, once Android OS evolves more and proper use of all 5 cores will be available then this will be a dream machine. The T700 is cool but i really don't see the point of a 1080p screen. If you want to enjoy 1080p then you do it on a TV min 40 inch or so.
Wish there was a way to expand or implement more RAM memory.
Asides from the GPS not working not even once, im so happy with this machine, and it has so much potential. My wifi is always good, battery is fine, all and all hardware is ok its just the firmware that needs improvement.
In the .14 firmware i had a total of 3 reboots and flickering many times.
So far .15 seems ok but its only been 1 day.
Surfing is great, recording is FANTASTIC, the recording sound is so nice also.
I love the that you can film in macro as well.
Keyboard dock is something unique to Asus in Android surfpads and it really is great, would be col if they maybe one day release a better dock with a larger battery and perhaps luminated keyboard with a on/off feature.
I couldnt be happier with this machine, i am going to send it back to see if they can replace it with the new batch that it coming but at the same time i am afraid because its running so great even tho its has some issues (asides from GPS).
Gonna change until i find the 'perfect' one
Best b-day gift ever

This isn't true at all. I have a Prime and my WiFi is very nearly as good as my Windows laptop, and just as good if not better than my Galaxy S2 phone. People here complain about poor WiFi performance because they are looking for solutions, but I don't think people who at XDA members represent an unbiased or fair representation of the overall population of Transformer Prime owners.
As far as TF Primes with issues, only .57% of all Primes sold to date have been returned with WiFi performance listed as the problem. In general the return/complaint rate for the Transformer Prime doesn't seem to be very far out of line with the complaint rate for similar products which indicates that there are a lot of happy Transformer Prime users (myself included).

Good sir, I would advise you to not contemplate obtaining an iPad. The reason for this is not that I, and many others advocate the fact that the iPad is a sub-par device in terms of both hardware and software, but because the iPad is simply does not entrust the consumer any flexibility to accomplish what they desire. Apple has a pattern of perpetual arguments with the effervescent jailbreakers that constantly publish transient workarounds; these aforementioned conflicts greatly limit the updates of the device so that the user experience cannot and will not have the fluidity that you apparently so desire. However, if you wish to imprison your being within the garden of apples creation, then I implore you to leave this internet site at once for this place is not one made for bigots or conformists who aspire to become hipsters. If you have ascertained that the iPad is the device that you find transcendent, then I have no more words for you but the greatest form of pity. Moreover, if you find my erudite admonition too strenuous to interpret, then attempt to comprehend the following:
Yo, don't get dat ipad cuz it be not good. Yo da tf has so much mo features so get dat **** now.

Hi guys,
Here is my short story why I have sold my Asus Prime. Some of you can lough at me because few days ago I was laughing at Ipad3. But I asked myself few questions... and changed my point of view totally.
Generally my first tablet was Asus Transformer. I liked it very much. Unfortunately in the first week after I got it I had to send it to RMA. I had dust under screen. I was mad...
After 4 weeks I get it back. After few next days I discover that it creaks - another reason to be mad for Asus.
But I kept it using. Meanwhile I bought Ipad2 just to test it. The first thing I noticed was that every game/app was designed to work on Ipad properly. Nice
graphics, fast and so on. I could not say that about Android and Asus Transformer. There were (there still are) so few apps/games that works in 1280x800 resolution.
Despite all those games and apps on Ipad2 few things forced me to sell it after 2 months of using:
- low resolution of ipad - this was the most annoying thing
- no flash (minor thing)
- no sdcard slot (then It was important for me - now it is not - why ? because I really do not use this... )
It was December 2011. I decided to wait for new Asus Prime. Tegra 3 I thought - man. That is going to be awesome.
In the late end of December I bought Asus Prime. First impressions - WOW!
And then:
- still only few apps/games for tablets
- my unit is creaking - AGAIN! (aaaarrrggghhhh!!!!)
- HDMI broke after 3 weeks! (aaaaarrrgggghhh!!!!)
- battery is drained after 5-6 hours of using (only browsing WWW)
So now when I see that Ipad3 has great Retina display am changing my way of thinking.
I have enough of Asus lies. Yes. I feel cheated by Asus. The battery was supposed to stand for 9 hours. I get 5 and sometimes 6. The same as it was in first transformer (my Ipad2 had 9-10).
I have enough of VERY poor quality of Asus products for 600$!
I have enough of laggy ICS - yes it is laggy as hell - especially when browsing
I have enough of 1280x800 resolution. It got to old...
Am not going to wait another few years for apps/games that are mainly designed for Tablets. I can imagine how long will it take to see apps for Asus Prime Infinity (1080P screen)...
Yes - am aware of this that Ipad3 does not support flash. But it not a big problem. Only 1 site I visit uses this technology. Yes - there is no sdslot in Ipad. But do I really need this? No I do not.
I asked myself a question. What is the most important for me in tablet:
- the highest resolution it can be - for now it is Retina
- I want to have A LOT of games/apps - for now iOS is the only option
- I want fast and smooth system - again iOS is the best. ICS is much more better than Honeycomb but it has no chance with iOS
- I want my tablet not to creak!!!
Am not using only theory. I had Ipad2. I know how it works. I know it has some limitations. But I want a tablet that has plenty of apps on it. I want tablet with super resolution. And I want a high quality products. Not Asus **** that creaks...
I will never ever buy anything that is made by Asus.
Of course I respect Android. This is VERY good system. Full freedom. But one thing kills this system. It is poor quality games/apps. They are fine for Phones with small screens. But how many of them works in full 1280x800 ? Few....
And that is why am changing my tablet.
I wonder how many of you are interested in deflecting to Ipad3?
PS - oh and I forget to mention about non working GPS and poor WI FI...
PS2 - am still using Samsung Galaxy II as a mobile. Am not going to change it for Iphone...
I'm not deflecting to Ipad but I do respect your viewpoint. my batteryvlasts 9-10hrs. and tablet doesn't creak. plus I have tons of great apps n games. in my Neo Geo emulator alone I have 34 games.
but I'm not posting to convince you otherwise of your experience. all I can say is good luck with it. make sure when you get one to check out ipadforums.net for all latest n greatest info on it. jailbreaking info and guides in there also.
Get an ipad and get out?
You wont have muti-tasking out of the box. Have fun being locked down.
RMA/Return/Swap and get a new prime.
I love this thing way to much, to let it go
Not I. I personally can't stand IOS and the resolution of the prime is more than fine for me. I have a 1080p TV for most of my movie watching, and mkv movies look perfect I think on the tab when I need it (IE Airplane). Prime is the best tablet I've ever used.
To each their own, hope the Ipad works out better for ya.
Well believe me. Am not happy about this. But I just feel bad with Prime. You know it is very expensive product and still I see no diffidence between TF101 and TF201. I like it but I have to sell it. It is so called toxic love - hahaha.
David522d ---> like I said. For me most important are games/apps and the display. All other things are not so important for me.
cool story bro
My Prime suits my needs, can't think of other device for me atm!
I deeply admire the design of Apple, but strongly dislike the company philosophy!
Have fun with your new device.

Dude i have SNES, Playstation, 64, Sega. the apps on this thing is insane, you should try overskreen/stickitt.
HDMI, the new iCrap doesnt have that.
done deal
Why do people find the need to write these stupid exit reviews? What's the point? You're frustrated? Fine. You have come to feel a product is better and suits your needs more? Fine. Just move on! Sheesh!

Hmm maybe because that is why the forums are for? Imagine 20% of people reading this thread wants to or already have exchanged their primes for ipads.
Good luck living with the following dude:
Deliberate downgrade of the camera to 5mp even though Apple use millions of 8mp versions for their iphones.
Pushing Face Time as a main feature then only using a VGA front facing camera.
No ability to upload to browser ie, adding photos to image hosts.
No ability to transfer files through Bluetooth.
No ability to connect to HDMI source without purchasing expensive peripherals.
No ability to plug in USB drive to transfer files.
No ability to plug in an SD or micro SD to increase storage capacity.
No access to the file system to access, move or delete files.
No ability to customise the homescreens with widgets or launchers.
No ability to use different icons without jailbreaking.
No Flash videos on websites.
Etc etc.
If Android ran their tablets with those issues, the OS would be slammed throughout the tech world. For some reason Apple reviewers don't mention any of these major shortfallings.
Good luck with it!
It's a known issue that if a reviewer posts anything apple does not like, they do not get review samples next time.
The truth is some people should use iOS. The OP is seemingly one of them. However I have to wonder about the lust for a high rez screen on a 10" device.. I wonder if he knows none of the software supports it yet.
The fact of the mater is right now a random person who buys a tablet is probably 75% of the time an iPad buyer.
However with so many people with android on phones, in time more will choose the same OS for a tablet.
I Love the prime...
i was going to go in to this and that but i just cant be arsed.........
Not to be cruel but are we supposed to care? It's your money do what you want.

Have fun with your crapple. Personally I find them to be the most boring devices on the planet....its no wonder they are so "fast" and dont lag. There is nothing to them. Its just screens and screens of icons.

Good luck with your new device.
But I also don't understand why you felt the need to post this thread. I am sorry you weren't happy with the Transformer Prime, but I don't know why you feel the need to justify your purchase of an iPad to anyone. It isn't helpful to people who read these forums looking for info on their Primes and I seriously doubt that the majority of people really care about what tablet that you find is right for you.
If you look at your poll now, you can see that the 20% of people who switched to an iPad is now a much smaller percentage. Why? Because this is an Asus Transformer Prime forum, not an iPad forum.
The funny thing that strikes me when someone is unimpressed with a product to the point of selling it for something else, i.e.: it's competitor, is that implied notion that the competitor's product is inherently better.
--The Prime may not have a display of the "New" iPad, but it is in it's own regard, awesome.
--I, like others have stated, consistently get 8.5 to 10 hours of use. Obviously, battery life depends on what you're doing...
Also, people seem to think that because it's an iPad that it just works...
IT IS SUBJECT TO THE SAME FAULTS AND FAILURES AS ANY OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE! Meaning, sometimes it will work FLAWLESSLY, while other times you're hating yourself for buying a piece of sh!T.
As others have stated, you don't need to justify your purchase to anyone... just be happy with what you got... you paid the money and enjoy the fruits of your labor -- regardless of the brand.
I do like my Prime very much, don't love it but like it. I'm hoping Asus would give Prime owners a discount or rebate or something so we can purchase the Infinity (whats after Infinity for the next tablet? Infinity plus 1?) I'm sure there will be quiet a few Primes on Ebay and Craigslist mine included.
I'm not a troll, don't go down that track...

Why would you want a tablet with the same problems? From the Infinity benchmark, it seems the I/O is just as poor on it as the Prime.
If you are not happy with the Prime, I doubt the Infinity will make you feel any better about it.
Why buy another Asus product? After reading a few threads the other day i feel that is a general consenous. The true question is with the ever so changing tech in our world. You are willing to buy another Asus tablet? Me personally im not sure. Mine isnt bad but i deff have my quirks.
No chance.
Heh. In a perfect world...
However, in a perfect world, the Prime wouldn't be as screwy as it is. I'm personally done with their products.
Prime isnt perfect, but its still the best Tablets for my needs Its a complete laptop replacement for me.
The infinity is cool but the resolution isnt an issue for me and wifi is perfect for my needs. GPS was never needed in my situation.
Show me Tablet that offers the same or more functionality as the prime/infinity for the same price?
Me too. I'm done with them. I was having problems with their mobo that lasted a year; RMAed it and got sent a replacement with 2 dead RAM slot; special RMAed that, my replacement was late and 1 dead RAM slot and BIOS issue. deciding whether I wanna try again. Essentially i believe they sent me un-"fixed" mobo that other people sent in. I mean QA that crap. It's not that hard to test. Sorry I digressed. But between that and the Prime fiasco, they lost me. The sad thing is they USED TO BE really good b/c years ago I didn't have a problem.
Ain't gonna happen.
Sorry, there is no Santa Claus. :crying:
Well what other options are there? please don't say Toshiba or worse Apple, we are here because we don't want to be dictated too from Apple. Maybe Samsung has something up their sleeve? Hoping Google I/O will have something for us to get excited about.
I'll be getting a Samsung next
There's nothing Asus can do at this point to make me a return customer. Nvidia can go f¥ck themselves too they're the real problem

I for one think you deserve a "free" Infinity for all the dmg control & marketing you do for Asus. Of course, if you do receive one.. I hope you don't tease everyone of the privilege you are receiving.... no matter how "daring" e.mote is. =P
Well stated. Let Gary know..lol

I know right..lol thanks...if I did I wouldn't tease. id more then likely take requests on testing things people would want to know.
Maybe if IM lucky they would look out for me like that but I wouldn't hold my breathe on it. Lol
Send Gary a pm or email saying what you said here
By tease ... I meant... Not revealing any info on you receiving one. This forum isn't going to take that well if you received one for free...
Thus, if you do receive one... ANY info. (even if you wanted to do testing for others) on it should be disclosed & keep it personal to yourself.
I'll pass, only motherboards from ASUS from here on out. It's too bad they're making the nexus tab.

I have to say: Forget Samsung. I've got a S+, the device itself is good, but Samsung's support is the worst I've ever seen. You believe Asus is a bad company? They shipped out free GPS-dongles for at least *some* customers and they really seem to try to sort issues out (although they obviously fail).
Now to my experience with Samsung: The S+ is offered by Amazon since the 1st July '11, what has Samsung done since then? They added more bloatware to their ROM and managed to decrease the performance. I also bought the S+, because I thought it would get an Update to ICS, and I was not alone with that opinion. Well, Samsung has not updated to ICS, because our device "can't handle it", instead they released a "Value Pack", which adds the look of ICS. Arco ported ICS9 to the S+ and it runs better than all GB versions from Samsung. And remember, Samsung also "wants" you to flash through Kies.
If you want something that works out-of-the-box, then pick everything but Samsung.
My experience with Asus is definetley better than with Samsung.

point taken. honestly, IM interested in their win8 talerts now. I can't imagine infinity pad experience being much different than prime. aside from higher resolution screen. that transformer book or 600 or 800 is what I really want. I wouldn't mind getting back into windows scene again.
Theres a ton of tablets about to drop soon. font know if its a good idea to get one of these new ones or wait till 2013. by then these new tablets will have newer upgraded processors. Android or win8 with tegra4 is what IM really waiting for. even quad core exynos would be good. ibe seen some articles stating new T3+ will likely be used in new tablets and not just phones. I see nvidia milking tegra3 or T3+ till tegra4 is ready. I think tegra4 might pop up end of q1 2013 or q2 if we lucky.

You do realize that Tegra 3+ and even Tegra 4 (grey) is based on A9 right? Which .. like you said.. is basically milking Tegra 3 & nothing more... without significant improvement... except.. drop to 28nm, increase clock speed & increase GPU core to make it sound like it is vast improvement. All the issues & bottlenecks being found in Tegra 3 will persist as it shares the same architecture.
Tegra 4 (wayne).. if it is even Tegra 4 anymore .... most likely will be delayed even further to late 2013.

You do realize you are comparing Smartphone support to Tablet support. Can't compare the two...
Smartphone.. due to "carrier" restrictions.. have pathetic support throughout the whole sector. Even the "Nexus" devices have craptastic support in s/w....
Also, Samsung devices are released with unlocked bootloader & nvflash....
Asus devices aren't....
