Hi Everyone,
On my Samsung Epic, I was able to access the directory of system/usr/keylayout/sec_jack.kl where "headsethook" was listed. This enabled me to use the little button on the wire connecting my Bose Headphones to the Epic along with an App called "Headset Button Control" to play/pause music.
When I searched the same directory of "keylayout" on the Nook Tablet, I didn't find sec_jack.kl, and as I suspected, the same button had no effect on the nook (checked via debug option in Headset Button Control)
I was wondering if there is any way to make the NT recognize the headphone button, or if this is a pure hardware issue?
Thank you so much for your attention!
(as for the reason, I would like to press the button to flip pages on my ebook reader and manga reader. I have tried this on my phone using Tasker, and it works 100%)
Here's a screenshot of the headphone button: 4electronicwarehouse.com/content/bose/mobile-on-ear-headset-ser2.jpg

Did a quick search and found nothing -- is there any application or way to customize the actions performed when the headset button is pressed?
I use Tasker for various automated things, but looks like there's nothing there (did I miss something?).
Specifically, this is the button on a bluetooth headset that would normally start the voice dialer -- I'd like it to do something different, perhaps. I know that the button's "command" can be intercepted by some applications, because I know that Vlingo, when installed, becomes an option of an application that would "handle" the bluetooth button press (i.e. when I press it, it pops up a window for "which application do you want to use for this").
Unfortunately, Vlingo just uses this to launch its own voice dialer...
Thoughts? If it matters, I'm using the Galaxy Nexus on ICS.
Thanks!
*bump*? ^_^
bump? Anyone? =/
I'm interested in knowing whether there's a solution for this as well, I'm wanting Jeannie/assistant called when I hit the call button on BT headset.
I know this is old but I'm look for a option to do this. Running a old stereo deck in my car but is bluetooth enabled and would love to have something trigger Google Now or Voice Dialer. Possibly by long pressing the play button or something.
I'm using stock/ original in-ear headset with mic and volume control..
How can I start/active sVoice from it?
Thanks

I don't have a SGS3 yet, but I am wondering about these little details as well as they will determine the usefulness of SVoice...
If the phone is locked (in my pocket) and connected to a headset with a one button mic, can the button be used to activate SVoice? If so, is it a double tap of the button?
Obviously SVoice may choose to prevent you from doing certain things while locked (dialing numbers, etc), but it would be great to play a playlist or toggle shuffle for the music app using SVoice while the phone is in my pocket.
Likewise, if the phone is in a car dock, but the screen turns off/locks, can I still double tap the home button and voice a command for music control or reading my text messages?
Bump?
wondering about this too, i can't make it work......

it was annoying me having come from iPhone to note 2 so the way that I have made it work was to get the app headset button controller from the play store and set 4 clicks to launch so voice, make sure you select yes to waking the phone when asked. Now s voice works on the headset, just wish I could assign it to long press of the headset button but that's reserved for google voice search. I hope this can help some people or if anyone has a simpler workaround please share!
If you have a TV and use a seperate audio device for sound you have probably noticed that this is impossible to seperate the volume controls and the TV channel controls in the latest update of WatchON. If it is there, I can't find it. In order to set the volume rocker to a separate device, you will need the original WatchON app. Go to manage apps and find "Samsung WatchON". There will be two of them. Find the one that had the "uninstall updates" option and do it. Then run the WatchON app and configure your TV as you normally would. Now long press the volume rocker and it should give you a pop up option to change the volume control source. I want to thank Sparatan117 for pointing this out. Maybe it will be fixed in future updates.
I was able to go to the Dvr screen that I already set up and tried the long hold there, and it did come up with the setup screen for my Sony home theater system! Would have never thought to do the long hold, thanks for the tip!
samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4 watchon volume controler
This is how i did it in new version !!
How do I setup input for my devices?
Once you setup all your devices, you need to setup input for those devices by following steps:
Go to App Settings
Tap on your room name
Under Activities, select your respective device and set the input corresponding to your TV and click “Done”.
Also you can choose either TV/AVR to control the volume and then proceed with setting up of input. :good:
I have an Android Ice Cream Sandwich 7 Inch Rooted Tablet PC. I am trying to control the music controls with a single button headset, such as Play/Pause and Rewind/Forward. I have tried the following Apps:
1) Headset Droid
2) Headset Controller
3) Headset Button Controller
However in all these apps, after configuring, when I press the headphone key, a dialog appears reading as follows,
Complete action using
Dialer+
Phone
Viber

Now, how can prevent the android system from intercepting the Headset button?
Has anyone tried this remote?https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00U3PFUAC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A34OAPZOHWTNSP
Does the mic work with Google now? Does the home button take you to launcher home? Can you turn your TV off and change volume,? Cheers

I've tried a few remotes with a few android boxes I've had and this one is the best I've found. I bought the one called 'Aerb' but you'll see a number of resellers on ebay selling the exact same device. It runs on 2 AAA batteries.
What I really really like is that the four coloured buttons on the bottom AND the big red power button on the
top left are learning/programmable IR blasting, so you can program them to turn your TV on/off, change inputs, increase TV volume etc. using your TV remote. The other buttons are not programmable.

This is the best remote by far I have purchased for this box. I am far away from my player right now but I will try and confirm if the mic works with it asap...

Does the home button bring you to the home screen ? And by programming the bottom color buttons to change the volume or do the actual volume buttons work? Also its to bad the buttons don't light up . Thanks that would be awesome if you could check the mic . Also are you able to like use the remote underneath a blanket or do you have to point it at the dongle?

- yes
And by programming the bottom color buttons to change the volume or do the actual volume buttons work?
- you program the coloured buttons on the bottom using your TV remote, so they will turn the volume on your TV up and down, NOT the vol on the android software.
Also its too bad the buttons don't light up.
- no they do not.
Thanks that would be awesome if you could check the mic .
- *** I cannot seem to get my mic working with voice search. The remote I have purchased has a microphone, but has NO microphone button to enable the mic. There are reports of users who have got their mic working. See here for a picture of a remote with a mic button (the blue one in the bottom right corner) http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=203623
Also are you able to like use the remote underneath a blanket or do you have to point it at the dongle?
- you do NOT have to point the remote at the dongle. It does not work with line of sight like IR remotes. The distance limit is about 15 metres I'd guess. Farther with better batteries
Using the stock ROM, the following keys work:
home button
play/ pause and FF RW buttons
context menu
OK and d-pad button
keyboard letters
Using stock ROM the following keys DO NOT work for me:
soft volume up/down
mute
microphone doesn't work
BACK key doesn't work (this sucks, it registers as a 'right mouse click' under stock rom - doesn't do anything, must use home key instead. it also doesn't work under lollirock either. Luckily under lollirock the soft 'recent apps, home and back' buttons are always visible, so I just use that soft back arrow on the screen.
all of the 'alt keys' on the keyboard - ie the function keys, ! mark etc. These all work fine under lollirock.
I also have a generic android box running full android 5.1 and almost all of the keys on this remote work fully with it, including the hard back key.
Let me know if you've got any other questions!
