[Q] Root 2.2.2 with Super One Click? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all I have a question. Im trying to root my friends Dell Streak for him and Ive read that Super One Click works. Can anyone confirm if they used that method? If not please let me know which you used. THANKS!

I never used super one click. Long time ago I used Gingerbreak to root 2.2.2 based on 347.
Now I just flash Superuser.zip via streakmod. Takes less than 10 mins altogether. This method worked flawlessly for me on 2.2.2 based on 360 and 2.3.3 based on Olleh 407.

I've previously tried rooting with an app and S1C, but none have worked. Flashing the .zip as others have mentioned is the only way to do it :]

Yes, next question
But seriously, the only thing you have to remember when using fastboot on linux is to use "-i 0x413c" (Dell's USB Vendor ID) after fastboot, before the fastboot commmand, e.g.:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Edit: I now saw the typo , it's 0x413c

[Q] [HELP] Official LG Updater over ClockWorkMod Recovery

I have an LG Optimus One running 2.2.2 latest firmware V10e. Recently, I rooted my device and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and the Lagfix+OC Kernel by der_caverman. I am using the Stock ROM with that Kernel.
My question is when the official Gingerbread Update comes out by LG, will I be able to update it with the official LG software updater or will it not work because I have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
If not, how can I remove ClockWorkMod Recovery get my original Recovery Back???
any help would be appreciated!

nope. you can upgrade at any time if u are staying with ur oem rom even if u are rooted. only thing is that u will lose ur root previllage after the update.
its alwayes advisable to have a custom recovery and custom rom. cause it can take nandroid backups(will save your day if anything goes wrong)

it is risky since you have changed the frame work.if i were you i will do the following.
1)unroot the phone( if u have used gingerbreak use the same to unroot)
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash. thus u can getrid of amonra and get back original p500 recovery
3)reboot and hard reset and upgrade.
4) since u are now on original recovery and in unrooted condition if any thing goes wrong u can claim warrenty.
let me ask u why u need an upgrade? to get lot of crapwares? or to get amere 600mhz kernal? or to get a laggy phone with mere 60 mb of internal storage space to install all ur apps? or to have adds on every apps?

Thanks for your answer!
And I understand you when you ask me why do I need official update, because I agree that official rom = creap And thats why the first thing that I have done when I rooted my phone was to uninstall all the bloatware from it
I will for sure flash miks rom when he base it on official gingerbread, and if I have a little time for weekend current mod that you recommended (I only hesitate because of the bugs - I know there are just a couple of them, but...). I tried yesterday francos kernel v151, but I'm experiencing color bending in lower half of a screen with it...

yes its a flashable unsigned zip.but if u r using amonra to flash( cause it is unsigned) u have to uncheck the option "toggle signature verify" first.Amonra wont allow u to flash unsigned zips unless u do the above.
ps:if original recovery is flashed u will lose all the options in amonra and the only option will be the hard reset option.
there is a good how to section if u wish...

[Q] Should I flash CM7 by Mik 6.5.5 using ROM MANAGER?

Should I flash CM7 by Mik 6.5.5 using ROM MANAGER? I've read that application bricked some phones, anyone knows about it?
flashing with ROM MANAGER is same as using ClockWorkMod recovery, coz ultimately everything is done from recovery.... so u're good to go!!!!
So, I wouldn't have any problems flashing 6.5.5 from ROM MANAGER app? It's fully compatible with CWM ?
Thanks a lot, tomorrow I'm flashing the p500 and I don't want to have any problems, so I want to be really sure about what I do
yes... CWM and ROM Manager are a package together. ROM MANAGER on it's first run, install CWM recovery. So, they aren't different things, just two parts.....
don't worry, My first flash was also similar.... got worried... but everything came out just fi9.
Last question bro, The easiest way to root is using Superoneclick ?

I would suggest that flashing through CWM revocery is the best way. Just use ROM manager to install CWM recovery. After installing it, you won't need ROM manager anymore
I say this because I experienced factory resets just by rebooting into recovery through the ROM manager. Heard that the latest version is fixed but CWM is working like a charm.

Z4Root would be fine.
use z4root if ur phone running 2.2
2.2+ then use gingerbreak ~
Here's my experience, one: I used z4root and it didnt work than I used gingerbreak v1.20 and it worked. I was rooted...I had quite a few unsuccessful attempts with using rom manager so I did alittle homework and found some flashable recoveries, which I will list a link to
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ
Im using CWM 3.1.0.0 and my rom is CM7 (which honestly: is the best)...Ive used Megatron V1 and Devoid Froyo Final but my money's with CM7, I love to options that it has...
make sure that you wipe everything when your in recovery ie...dalvik/cache/battery stats: everything. It makes for a clean slate and you shouldnt have any problems from there on
huh.........

And how to go to recovery?
1)Shut down you phone.
2)Hold down POWER+HOME buttons together, until you screen blink once and then comes GALAXY ACE....(not just SAMSUNG logo). Now you can release the buttons.
Now you must see the RECOVERY menu. Use the steps, in that thread, what link I gave you.

You mean UNLOCK or ROOTING. I think you mean ROOTING? If yes, then you dont need to ROOT, before FLASHING to KPH(with ODIN).
If you FLASH custom ROM, they are all ROOTED already for now!
And for second question: you not need to FLASH CWM3. It will be removed automatically, if you FLASH to KPH with ODIN!

[Q] Root & Unlock for AsianRetail

Hye Expert.. i wanna ask a few question that i still confused about it.. plz give me a solution
im using Atrix non 4G 4.3.13.AsiaRetail
1)can be unlocked with same method like AT&T?
2)if im unlocking, can i get Custom ROM with any version?
3)its possible if i change system version to 4.1.83 using pudding?
4)i didnt find step to use pudding software, whats tool needed and how to use it?
still no lucky
Thought of getting one of the atrix. Looking at the upgrade of gingerbread makes me wanting this phone more, but Singapore local sets are all brand unlocked. Only bootloader is still locked. I assume we could flash our local sets to AT&T then unlock the carrier, then upgrade to 2.3.4?
Can any guys help?
Do NOT flash AT&T software, this will BRICK your phone!
For root, GingerBreak worked for me.
There are two type of unlock, CARRIER unlock and BOOTLOADER unlock.
All phones sold in singapore must be CARRIER unlocked by law.
As for BOOTLOADER unlock, use this link and flash the INTERNTIONAL/BELL version NOT the AT&T version.
Do you need step by step instructions for bootloader unlock?
@trinityb4
In reply to your other post, the safest way to get Gingerbread now is to
1.Unlock bootloader
2.CWM
3.Custom ROM =D
NEVER NEVER NEVER flash an AT&T .sbf file! Their Atrix is slightly different!
don't root on asia retail 3.1.0 or 3.1.3 .. i got my internal-sd formatted by itself after ramdom reboots (not rooting on 1st time)
but i got the rooting fine on stock rom if i flash to other europe rom such as Orange UK 4.20, Spain retail 4.33 etc..
i got no idea why but i try numerous time on with asia retail seems to have this problem but no problem with stock european roms.
best is to unlock bl and flash to att 4.59.1 with rooting

Found my answer already...
Hi guru,
I had download the cmw file extracted it, renamed recovery.img (as in short recovery) and put it into my c drive without folder.
Then i run cmd prompt
C:\Users\vaio>cd c:\atrix <enter>
c:\atrix>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img <enter>
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
what went wrong?
edit; ok i did not root the phone.
now i've rooted it with gingerbreak and try again to see the outcome.

.. sorry man tried to look and i can't seem to find any 2.3.5 SBF files for you or even the stock recovery image.
Yea, 2.3.5 is locked down atm. No custom recoveries. Are you sure you installed it with the rom manager app? You can boot into recovery? If you can, you should be able to just flash a zip to change recoveries
