So I decided I'm gonna go nuts trying every drawing app on the Flyer and see which ones work best. If anybody finds a good one post here. I'll do the same

hi!
I'm thinking about getting a flyer for drawing aswell, have you found any good drawing packages that use the stylus?
Unfortunately I don't believe there are any drawing apps (or any apps of any kind) other than the installed notes application that work with the stylus. The yet unreleased Honeycomb OS update may bring additional stylus integration, don;t know.

I believe this to be true as well. There are no apps that I can find that use the pen natively.
There are two apps in the market if you search "HTC scribe" that will come up though. What they do is produce a full screen image, e.g. lined paper, textured surface, colored background. Clicking on the pen menu button with the pen takes a screenshot of the background which then allows you to use the built-in pen functionality to mark on that background you set up.

Yes just as they said. But you can make your own drawing app. Tell you how. Take a picture of a white piece of paper. Pull it up in your gallery. Take a screenshot with your scribe pen and draw all over it....lol.
LOL I should have clarified. I am on honeycomb. The sketchbook mobile app (I think that's the right one) works great except no pressure sensitivity. You can compenstate by adjusting opacity

Yeah I thought you meant HTC specific apps.
SBM (sketchbook mobile) is about the best that I have seen, but I hate the user interface. Most others are really toys for kids.
Fresco Pro, which i have not tried, has gotten some good reviews.
In fact I see the developer of Fresco Pro was attempting to make it HTC Pen compatible ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209099&page=6) but apparently has given up with lack of help from HTC............
Quill app for lenova tablets works with pressure sensitivity! But has sizing issues

Quill app is pressure sensitive using the HTC stylus or fingers?
Stylus! It works with the fountian pen! I emailed the dev of the app and he already responded. Hopefully it becomes fully functional for us

I have been looking and I am trying for find a free hand drawing app(something similar to the Windows Paint program) for the View. I wanted to find one that will allow you to use the scribe pen for drawing. Any suggestions?
I have been using Sketchbook Pro on Honeycomb. It's awesome. It does not support the native scribe interface, but it supports using the pen and is pressure sensitive. But it has their own brush / color / etc management (which to me seems more robust than what HTC provided)
Try jet draw for a really simple drawing app.
Tanx
But any body that tried jetdrow?
got my new scribe today, and i love it..besides the built in stuff, what other apps utilize the pen?
If you're on Honeycomb try Quill. Also there is the Sketchbook app (from AutoCad, I think) but you can use pro with Honeycomb.

great! thanks! gonna check them out now.. and yup I'm on honeycomb

Quill is definitely the way to go if you wanna take hand-written notes. Much better then the stock app. The writing is really natural =)
I just got my Scribe a few days ago and am looking for some good apps too. Sketchbook Pro is really good. I haven't tried Quill though. I wonder what else is out there
just used sketchbook and it rocks. is quill worth the dollar? lol. i like the built in pen menu on htc notes app... does quill allow you to use that too?

Once you're on Honeycomb, all apps support the Scribe. That's aprt of the reason Honeycomb rocks on the Flyer.
That said, here are a couple that benefit from the scribe:
Fresco - a painting program with pressure sensitivity
Drawing Pad - a simple drawing program for children
Citrix Receiver - a front-end for Citrix based virtual machines and applications. When connecting to a Windows 7 VM it's nice to have the stylus' fine selection point.
Quill is worth the dollar. I have been jumping back and forth between the stock app and quill to take notes and it's night and day for me. Quill seems more accurate and has more options.
I also heard there was a game "what the doodle" that worked well with the flyer/pen but I haven't tried that.
I do a lot of note-taking and idea-sketching for work. Quill is definitely worth $1. I have tried it and its pretty nice. But, found one that I actually like better, WritePad Stylus. (You can search for it in the Market.)
Quill, Writepad Stylus, Lecture Notes are all very good for note-taking. To quickly jot stuff down, I like Whiteboard Pro (was free on Amazon the other day). Foxit is my favorite for pdf annotations. I wish someone could port MyScript Stylus (universal stylus input) from the Lenovo app store. That would be a killer app!
howcome nobody liked the stock htc app for quick note taking? i think it's cool that it's evernote. for example, when I was in sketchpad and i hit the pen green button, it didn't bring up pen settings.. only, take a screen shot, notes, etc. that's what I mean. In quill or something, when I hit that, will my diff choices of pens, colors, sizes etc come up?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
getting writepad now..some people say it's better than quill on the reviews
ugh, here's why i don't like it though. you can't hit the green pen button to bring up different choices of pens.
and it just crashed my flyer lol
------
trying quil.. btw, apparnetly quill is on sale, only 49 cents.
I'm pretty sure the only app that will use the green button to select pen styles is the built in HTC app.
All the 3rd party apps use their own pen selection methods
gothca.
i'm liking quill a lot, and for 49 cents, that's a deal
Check out trace too. It lets you load an image then trace it then remove the image

If you could suppress the keyboard I'd have no issues with the stock app. I like it better than Quill in terms of its support of the erase button on our pens and the fact that, since it's not vector based, you can erase in a more natural way (Quill forces you to erase entire lines).
However, every time I use the built-in notes app, the keyboard pops up almost as soon as I start writing. It only seems to enable palm rejection after you've started writing with the pen.

MyScript has already been ported. Check it out here. It's my favourite note taking app at the moment, but not for drawing (didn't even try it in that way). The only think I dislike is that it only let's you export one page of your notes at a time (at least in handwritten notes). Enjoy!

same problem here. my kb always pops up. so annoying.

Hmm, that is Notesmobile and FlexT9, not MyScript Stylus.
Thank you anyway.
Missing apps:
Flashlight
The genie widget that was on the sense4 port for the 3d. Was themed to match perfectly.
I would very much like these apps.
The keyboard.
Everytime I use something that brings up my keyboard, I get a select input method notification..won't go away??
Also, does anyone have issues with the xda app randomly freezing? It did this on the one x as well.
Thanks for any info

Someone posted the flashlight app but you should be able to find it in the HTC hub. Also, the keyboard input notification comes with ICS, as far as I know there's no way to disable it without some sort of mod but check your settings maybe it got added in =)
Thanks for the reply

Actually the HTC hub is different now? It used tobe an area just for HTC apps/plugins and now it seems like somewhat of an alternate market? I can't find any HTC widgets/apps?
In the hub goto applications - categories - HTC essentials

The HTChub on my EVO LTE does not allow me to go to Applications - Categories. When I click on "Applications" it loads a page with about 20 apps, all non-HTC, and doesn't give me any options for categories. When I go to Edit Tabs, it just lists one "Featured".
Anyone else have this issue? I really just want the flashlight app. I use it to much, It has always been a shortcut on my lockscreen.
Try downloading Quick Shortcut Maker from the Play Store. You will be able to find many apps HTC has hidden and make shortcuts to your home screen.

Yeah, that's really wacky. They must have changed it recently. You used to be able to get more apps that were from htc. Now it is stuck on just the featured apps and the htc flashlight is no longer in there.
OK, so I've been using Android for a while with HTC Sense, what user interface differences am I likely to notice when I move to Touchwiz on a Galaxy S3? (I would have gone for the HTX One X - but no removable battery, no SD card?! C'mon!)
I also have a nice physical qwerty keyboard at the moment, so having to use a touch-only keyboard will be a wrench, how bad is it? (I can't really use the on-screen keyboard on my HTC Desire Z at all, I'm just hoping that the slightly larger screen will make a touch keyboard least bearable).

Touching "Weather" on home screen leads to "Weather app" only - no Clock, no Alarm...
Weather then needs three steps (and browser) to show ""Hourly". No animation in Weather app, also.
Ended up removing that widget completely and putting normal clock instead.
Dialer has no AI. Needs a lot of patience. Ended up adding "Direct Dial Widget" for some people I call a lot - can't use dialer at all, it's annoying.
I found no way of copying contacts to Phone all at once, like in Sense. Contact pictures are small and pixelated due to this (used to change Google to Phone contacts on Sense, and reapplying the pics so they stay in full res).
TouchWizz will link contacts properly but will miss their Skype pictures. Further (manual) linking is possible, but a bit more complicated then in Sense 4.
Adding widgets and apps in Sense 4 (I used before) is a lot more straight forward. This is a bit... well, one can get used to it, but it's different. "Hold and drag" instead of simply "Tap". Go figure.
If I remember anything else, I'll add it. Can't help with your keyboard issue, I use screen for it for a while.
So basically Sense is mostly better, but it's fixable with third-party apps. Kinda what I expected; I do like Sense, but HTC have dropped the ball a bit with the rest of the One-X vs. the Galaxy 3S.
The one thing I know I'll miss (stupid I know!) will be the animated weather graphics when you open the home page.
Andre
You can get all that from beautiful widgets and the free animation app at play store. go to getjar for the apk.

I too moved from HTC (previously Desire, Desire HD, SensationXE) to S3.
Missed the most is the HTC signature home page, lots of custom mods and libary of widgets provided by Sense. But nothing can trump replacable battery and uSD card. Take me few hours to get use to Touchwiz and Samsung apps. Now a very happy user of S3.

What you won't miss is the lag with Sense.
As for the keyboard, you just have to go cold turkey. I could suggest trying other keyboards. One or two features I find missing on the keyboard are directional arrows, because it's hard to pin point going back to a word to correct it, and the mic icon for voice to text input... I had a keyboard on my Note that took care of those two and was a bit easier to type on.. Now I forget which one it was and miss it.. lol
Thanks. I use HD Widgets on my tablet, which allows installs onto multiple devices, so I'll try that first - or maybe try Beautiful Widgets for the animations.
Andre
Swype changed my opinion of touch screen keyboards forever. It's almost as fast as having a full sized qwerty keyboard once you know how to use it.
I like sense as well but I'm not buying a phone without a removable battery either. I'm also tired of the sub standard speakers HTC keep using. I'd at least like to hear my phone ring in my pocket.
Think most of the points of difference have been covered already. Touch wiz now also has features of its own lacking in sense. Example is smart stay and some of the other motion control options.
All in all, having used a sensation up until April and a desire hd before that, I'm finding touch wiz to be quite pleasant. It's not nearly as crap as the HTC fan boys like to make out on those forums.
