Trying not to become a crack ROM flasher - please help - HTC Rezound

So I'm running [MikRoms] Ineffabilis v1.0 and have it tweaked to the way i like it. It's running perfect! I just saw CleanROM 1.3. Am I gonna notice any real performance tweaks if I go through the trouble of flashing it??
I'm trying not to flash every ROM as they come out so I'm looking to what the perks would be.
Thanks!

You're not gonna see customization from other roms like you have in Ineffabilis. I flashed 3 different Roms in 3 days since I was unlocked.
Sticking with Inef....

Your experience will be different in every ROM, and it will continue to be different in every new update.

Why dont you just run benchmarks on infellabilis and see what you score.
IF they are lower then you will see performance gains. IF they are are the same or higher then stick with what you have.

Good luck.. I got rom flash addicted with my OG droid and it starting to carry over to the Rezound

My take is these guys are all so talented and we need to support the Developers. You certainly have a good setup now which I also have with Cleanrom 1.2. Do a nandroid and try out the new releases available to us when you have time. The Developers appreciate feedback and you may find that you like the next one better or not. But that's why we root to have the freedom to do these things I think we all get burned out from time to time as do the devs so it doesn't hurt to keep that nandroid of your favorite rom available. Good luck man.
having said that, flashing 1.3 now

I completely agree. I try out EVERY ROM that comes out for the Device I am currently using, and make nandroids of the ones that I want to come back to. Every ROM has their own tweaks and perks via the Developers and they put a lot of time into making us users happy, the very least we can do is try out the ROM and give feedback.
Happy flashing!

[ROM] l6.5l New rom for you, whats your flavor?

Well, I think I have obtained enough information and know-how on how to build roms and my cab/package vault has grown over time. I think its time to start giving back to this community and offer up my services with providing yet another 6.5 rom for everyone.
The question is, what is everyone's favorite build? A lot of people will stick with the latest build and I'm sure I will have to as well to keep it fresh and new, but for my first rom I want to build it based on what everyone's favorite build has been so far, so please vote for your favorite build.
I look forward to to both helping and giving back to this community who has helped my very much.
Although it's a good idea, I don't know how many of us actually know the difference between those. It might very well just be me, but i have no clue what the difference is between those. If you could post some differences between builds, it would help. Functionality, stability, battery use, etc.

Well thats the thing, some may perform better than for others. It al has to do with personal preference... and then there are some builds that nobody just likes. I stuck with 21222 for a long time because I liked the speed and stability.
Great initiative!
IMHO;
Most folks will probably defer to you expertise in determining which ROM edition will be best for them.
Adjusting the poll for features like:
Battery Life
Ease of use in Cellular mode
Ease of use in PPC mode
Typical applications to include
Manila or Non-Manila - no not Vanila; as my wife calls it
Connectivity (bt, wifi, etc.)
Might reveal a better cross-section of what to provide.
Cheers,
Yea each release seems to be different. 21222 was awesome for me. Seemed to be the fastest although 21815 is what I am using now and seems ok (still laggy though).
21222 was really the sweet spot.
Hey adam! Good job! Enter the cooking world Just be ready for the tedious reading, learning, and flashing to come. I still don't fully understand it, but it takes time to iron out the kinks and it's tedious to flash over and over again, but it seems worth it when you get closer and closer to what you want. And a vault you say? Surely you'll have to upload that vault somewhere

Oh, Gawd NO!!! *I'm a Libra* .... and we can never decide....

This thead is a good idea
Wow I was just thinking about starting the same thead topic!
We all need to give some sort of feedback in regards to what we like and what\why we are currently running. My person best was 21728 as it seem to be the smoothest if not the fasted build. Not many people tried it as DaG skipped it even though he gave us the sys. I am currently checking out a sys and xip ripped from a emu bin file to see if I see any difference as it just so happens to be 21234. Switching back and forth to see if the new VM enhanced NK.exe from DaG make a difference compared to the original 6.1 compatible NK.exe.
Keep that feedback coming in as the more opinions that are expressed the easier the decisions will be for others.
I agree with dcelluser. I am up to 21728, I dont any change as far as battery life is concern, but its better in terms of stability & smoothness. Battery is more than builds quality thus I need to know if someone finds any other build with any radio giving maximum battery, rest is always the same from 21222.
21728? Hmm, I dont even remember seeing that build. I wonder who else likes that build? Too bad I cant edit my own poll...
As far as everything else is concerned, why dont you guys also write in and say why you voted for xxxxx build and why. Was it the stability, speed, batter, ect... and what you thought about it. It may give a little more insight for other people as well.
In the meantime, im toying around with themes, taskbars and manila so when I figure out which first build to use, Ill have everything else lined up already.
I found 21222 to be the most stable build so far and had no issues with battery.
I'm flashing back to my 21222/21502 as we speak because the 218xx builds have been buggy for me.

Yeah, 21222 I think is still my favorite. Im still waiting for a 216xx build to be leaked as the 216xx line is supposed to be from HTC.
Buggy? What do you mean buggy?
Always keep with the latest, causes some cooking headaches but I find 21815 to be stable and fast so far
its just that noone has cooked new official ROM hotfixes with old builds so I am using new builds otherwise I hardly see any change in its performance. They are all same almost.

Yeah, Im going to have to stick with new releases once I move on to my second release... but for my first initial release, I wanted to build a rom that most people like as an incentive for trying my new rom.
Once that happens though, I might start throwing out two releases... another oldie but goodie rom and a new leaked build.

Just be careful doingthis. It can be hard to sync two release. Even just trying to change between a Fuze build and a TP build bugged me so much that I created a Mortscript to change KB layout!
how about just putting in your blood sweat and tears to create what you think is a kick ass rom. Thats all anyone could really ask for. And not that Im asking, but I know you will. Just put that disclaimer all the other guys put in their title post, that this rom is built to your likings. If you get some whiny kid complaining because it doesnt have the extra 50 levels of Teeter, just forget about them. Just do your best with all that knowledge you have accumulated, and you'll for sure put out something great. You have been around long enough to know whats good and what doesnt work. Now Im excited to see you put it in to play. Use the build that worked best for you!

I think that's the way to go because you'll have your users that always want the latest and greatest and other users that want stability.
Hmm... 21234!
Well I extracted the XIP and SYS from a 21234 MS emulator ROM and cooked using the latest official Fuze 5.11 payloard and NK.exe these are the results:
Awesome battery life!
Awesome speed!
Great stability and ...
Official ROM from MS!
I think I just found my favorite ROM!
My Fuze is at 90% battery life after 8hrs if emails and light internet surfing!

[Q] About to flash from Froyo to Gingerbread...

Is there anything I need to know beforehand? Do I need to manually upgrade any kernels or just flash the ROM.
I'm new to flashing Thunderbolts but have experience with many other devices. This is for a friends phone so I'm
taking extra precautions before doing any work on it. Thank you.
This is the ROM that I'm looking to flash to from the stock froyo ROM.
dude, that rom is almost 6 months old, he must not be much of a friend lol, make sure you get the latest radios, new ones rolling out as we speak, so they'll be available soon.. but seriously consider something more up to date, eternity is kicking some major ass right now...
infectedrom.com its everywhere you want to be...

advice from everyone please

so ill start off with please dont go tell me to read google things. iv been on this site for awhile with many different phones i read a lot. now to the topic. iv had my photon since it came out i love it and it does all it needs to but i miss flashing roms and getting that "new phone" feeling when you do. iv been running stock on the photon since the start with no real reason to flash. mainly because the loss of hardware or other things on our roms. dont get me wrong im very happy and thankful for those who put hard work into this bad boy every day. now im getting tired of it and i want to flash just wondering in anyone thinks one thing over the other, i dont mind unlocking but i do want reliability and a bit a flash to it. i need my mms, my camera, video. can anyone suggest whats doing the best on your own photon rom, kernal, locked unlocked. i do understand that each phone is different and acts different with different set ups. i just wanna head in a good direction and not mess with the odd stuff. thanks always xda members for making my phone more addictive then crack with your wonderful hard work. thank you so much. happy holidays to everyone and their families.

I mean we have CM7, MIUI, and about what 4 I think modified moto roms we have themes.
There is alot of roms in other phone forums and most of those are just themed roms
You have to flash a kernel and play some tegra games
I'm running MIUI now

thanks ill check it out.
Some people like stock with just a kernel flash. Some like it simple and bloat free like skinny. Everything you listed works on all of them except maybe miui for the moment. The most stable and complete is skinnyrev2-test3, because its based on 198-7/254-5. Cm7 and miui are awesome and a must try(im partial to cm because i helped in the beginning and was there when the very first version hit the g1, but i like webtop). Magnifier is great too. Its 154 based but its compiled from source i think. Correct me if im wrong shabby. If moto actually updated their source i would build from source too. Jokerstock-test1 was source built.
My advice, titanium backup and flash them all. Few days on each, with updates you should feed your flashing needs. Plus webtop is soon to be flashable.
Unlike other phones we got pretty much everything you would want fully working. Enhanced stock roms with better battery/performance. Cm7, miui, and roms in many languages. You can find my kernels in 6 different countries. Each with local roms. All blur based roms can be flashed in bootstrap with little edits, giving you 4g. Pretty soon im going to help cybik and miui guys get a bootstrap method up with a dual boot option.
Lets the flashing commence

no is not from source. he just was under the impression that newer firmwares wouldnt boot with custom kernels so he went with 154 hes working on updating everything to 198_7 as i continue to yell at him about it
stupid holidays and people claiming they cnat do any work...
Oh, i just assumed 154 would be source built. You must bug him harder to update to 198-7 then.

Cleanrom 2.2 vs Rezrom ICS 1.2

Just wondering which of these is getting better battery life. I have been running Senseless but there are still a few bugs that are making the experience less than it should be. Want to hear from a few people that have tried both and see which they would recommend.
Honestly the best thing you can do is try them both for yourself. Everyone's batterylife/experience will always be different.

This is the best course to take really. Besides, once you flash one Rom, no matter how good it runs, you will likely try another eventually.
And you can't go wrong with Scott or boreds ROMs
Cheers

Both ROMs are pretty good. Scott's been doing ROMs for quite a few devices. I'm not sure about boreds. I do like the theming bored has done on his ROM.

Both are established and respected devs! They both release excellent work.
While I'm new to the Rezound, I've been around Android for a while, and it seems like at this point most ROMs are pretty much the same. Most of them work well, but there aren't a whole lot of new tricks floating around the Android world to distinguish ROMs. The devs do great work pretty consistently now, which is awesome.

Sacs Custom or Barren Rom???

For those that have bumped and install a rom, which one? Before I spend a lot of time flashing, which one is the most stable and has good battery life? Don't care about too many visual mods, I like a stock looking rom with behind the scenes tweaks.

Their both similar, sacs used barren rom as his base. Sacs just incorporated xposed mod into the settings menu along with greenify, g3 tweakbox, head ups notification, and clean master.
You can flash either rom, then flash data from stock nandroid, worked every time so far
careful with these kind of threads feelings can get hurt. Nuclear wars can be started. Learn from my mistake.
just remember that asking which rom is "the best" is punitive and not always a dependable source for info on how a rom will run on your phone... believe it or not each g3 is slightly unique and not equal to others. One rom could run great on one g3 and give you tons of force closes and even bootloops on yours even while seemingly installed correctly. Best method is to take 5 minutes, make a backup of whatever is stable and working and flash the new rom and see. If it's crap, check your work(install steps) and if still not right nandroid and try another rom. Profit.
Well I hope feelings don't get hurt, sacs is based off of barren so it should be very similar. Running sacs for a few days then I'll switch over to barren and see how it goes. Only change I made with sacs is turned off his battery mod and went back to stock.
Not bashing anyone's ROM, but sac is a dedicated dev and makes some stellar roms. I can't imagine barren being bad if sac used it as a base. You can't go wrong with either at this point. Just watch and see how things develop now that the ball is finally rolling.

Just flash both and see which one works best for you. Coming from the S3 I've flashed every single build for the d2LTE . It's all trial and error in this world.
I'm using Barren. It's essentially the stock experience with enough apps removed to make the app tray a single screen. It's got all of the basic under-the-hood tweaks you can do without going AOSP. It's smooth as butter, light, nimble, and highly customizable. Put on Titanium and you can strip off even more bloat. It's a seriously dope ROM. I haven't used Sacs, but if its based off Barren like someone said, then it's gonna be good in my book. So, I'm a Barren Advocate just because it's great standing alone, and doesn't need more, but more couldn't hurt ^_^
I've flashed both and I like the feel of Barren better. So smooth, and engine95 is always tweaking things. The no aux out zip is pretty amazing.
