[Q] How do I re-install gapps - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

I made the mistake of trying to add the 'contacts.apk' from a rooted Android phone and at first i could not access any of my contacts (bad)
But now I keep getting 'google services framework' force closes.
I have tried the ADB Hijack to try to re-install gapps... but apparently this is not even allowing me to solve the issue.

You don't have a TiBu backup lying around, do you?
Swyped from my B&N Tablet

Of course not.
Why would I be this prepared?
I am currently on the reboot from using the ADB Hijack/ re-root method.
Fingers are crossed.
and...FAIL
I managed to re-load gapps just fine.
However... something else is corrupted somewhere else.
Google apps keep force closing and reinstalling them seems to not work.

I think I have somehow destroyed my ability to sync my contacts.
any idea what files are needed to be able to sync contacts properly in gmail?

I found the solution
Reset to factory...
Start from scratch!

If I had a penny everytime someone messed up with google apps....
If you have a backup, restore said backup, if you don't you'll have to reflash your ROM, and I'm only gonna say this once:
NEVER, EVER, EVER, FREEZE/UNINSTALL GOOGLE APPS (don't even look at them)
Google apps are necessary if you want your phone in a working condition, so don't try to freeze them or remove them because your phone will plainly stop working.

CM7 - Cant install Google Apps

I am pulling my hair out here. I followed all the steps to install CM7 including selecting Google Apps. After booting up it prompts me for my Google account info and it signs in.
Now the problems begin...
I cannot install anything from the Market. Everything comes up as download is unsuccessful.
However, if I go to the web market, I can install things from there and it works. I have cleared the market and download cache.

Tried reinstalling GAPPS? I had issues with contacts not appearing and no Google accounts listed. I couldnt even add a Google account. Everything was fixed when I booted into recovery and reapplied the GAPPS. What was weird was I could still make/receive calls and texts.
Yup, tried reinstalling Google Apps via CWM. When it reboots it asked me which apps I want to install, but wont install them.
Yes, I have network connectivity. I can install GMail from web market and get my email to work.

Not sure really. May want to post this in the ROM thread.
May have already done so, but I would wipe to factory, cache, dcache, and see if that fixes it. And I came from the Bionix FROYO build running the froyo bootloader. If thats of any help. Also, applying it in ROM Manager would not work for some reason. So I DLed the ROM and GAPPS to my SD and applied manually in recovery after wiping to factory and everything else.

NO
As for the issue, try going to accounts and sync making sure that background data is enabled and make sure you have things syncing to that account. Then remove the account reboot the phone and re-add it through the accounts and sync.
also try re downloading the package could be corrupt

If that doesn't work try wiping your phone.
Seems like this is with my account as my XOOM is doing the exact same thing.
Called Google for support, they cant figure it out either. Escalating to someone else.

Why not. The ROM thread said to not report bugs...not to ask how to fix something. The thread is full of being asking for help to fix issues.
it is not a CM7 issue at this point as it is happening with two different devices and even odin'ing back to a stock rom didn't solve it.

[Q] Can you reinstall apps from google play?

Recently my Samsung Galaxy Mini went into a boot loop. To solve this, I had to factory reset the phone, deleting all my apps. When I log onto google play, and navigate to my previous apps, it says they are still installed, and won't let me reinstall them. Is there any way round this?
Thanks
how about the backup?did you always backup app?
if not,i think you can redownload using another website like appbrain...after that you can automatic update from google play..this is just my thought
Also you can enter to Play Store from your PC, and install all the apps that you need (clicking on the Install button, the app will be installed in your phone).
my android apps
go to Google play and my android apps on right hand side or hit this link https://play.google.com/apps
it will show you all the apps that u have installed on your phone, now click on app one by one and click on install button through web, in this way you can install the apps that u have loose
please press thank you button if u like this.
The thing is, when I go to "my apps", it says I already have them installed, when I don't. The install button is greyed out.

I had the same problem. The solution is simple however. I'm using Cyanogenmod for my rom. It turns out you have to download and install the google play apk.
As soon as I rebooted, I was asked for my Google account and once I entered the information, everything, including my apps, automatically downloaded and installed. Of course, it's important to note that I backed up my account to my Google account. I highly recommend this.
So, I think if you just find the gapp.apk for your rom, you'll be ok.
Hope that helps,

[Q] Application already exists...

I am experiencing a weird issue, that I have not yet found a solution for.
I have been using a different media player for a while, and have decided I want to use Google Play Music again.
When I try to install from the market, I get an error "Application already exists..."
Well, no it doesn't it.
I tried downloading the APK to install directly outside the market,
but the package installer gives another error: "X Application not installed"
So, which is it? Is it already installed, or is it not installed?
I think there is a file somewhere on this phone that makes it think Google Play Music is already there,
but for the life of me I cannot find it.
I tried opening the APK to see if the contained files are already on the phone somewhere,
but I am not having any luck.
Can anyone help here?

You tried wiping?
or you maybe pushed an app to system, without changing permissions. the app will be installed, kinda.
I'd wipe.

Yeah, I am sure wiping will resolve the issue, however I still do not know the cause, so I am worried if I go through all the trouble of a full wipe I may unwittingly reproduce the same error later anyway.
I did not try to push an app to system...
In digging around I don't find any java packages that refer to music. This has me scratching my head.

Try going into system and looking for the google play music apk. maybe its there but just corrupted.
Reboot your phone. Had the same problem on my tab .
Thanks for trying guys. Nothing worked... factory reset did the trick.
On the positive side, a full restore using TBU (including system data) when not changing roms is quite effective

I had the same problem with sywpe at one time. Even though the .apk was removed from /system/apps AND from /data/apps it still thought it was installed. Turned out
it was a file in /system/lib . If yer still interested in how it happened for ****s and giggles that may be it.

Factory Reset Doesnt restore apps

Have a problem with my TFP, downloaded and updated to JB using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909819
Tried getting rid of some bloatware however i obviously deleted something important as now on play store i constantly get Server error on open. Have tried the usual fix's on here of uninstalling clearing data re installing etc all to know avail.
So i tried doing a factory reset however it did not install anything i had removed, I then tried downgrading which didn't work either, so in short have i lost google play forever, does anyone have a base JB i can use to re install everything.
Please help been tinkering for hours now to no avail.
Interestingly cant use GMAIL app either.

You don't say if you are unlocked and have a recovery?
Doing a factory reset will not bring back deleted apps as it only wipes the cache etc.
Re installing should have brought them apps back but I don't know how you are tying to re install.. Can you give a little bit more information on what I have asked please.

You will not be able to just install it. You will have to copy it into system/app folder using a file manager that has root support like es file explorer or root explorer.
Here is the file from the new JB update.

Copy the one I posted above into the system/app folder and give it permission rw-r--r-- and then restart the tablet to let it create the cache file.. See if that works.

I'm really not sure what you deleted all together but try this.
GO to settings-apps and go to "all"
Scroll down to Google play services and google play store and force stop both and clear data and cache for both.

Any reason why you can't unlock the device and install a recovery so you can install custom roms? or are you trying to keep your warranty intact ?
I'm also not sure why you can't just do part 3 of the instructions you followed in the original post to put jellybean back on again. ( then again you have edited so many files this might not be advisable.)

As you said i am trying to keep warranty in place at the moment, i thought that following section three would work as well as i only accidentally changed the files from the system when i had installed but every time i have tried it doesnt reinstall the apks that were removed.
